IWCAS - I like your taste! We have been looking at the Switch too - its very nice. Although we have started leaning towards a Silver Cross Linear Freeway instead. Basically does the same thing - faces both ways but is around £200 cheaper by the time you add in car seats and foot muffs etc. It's not that I mind spending the money (its gonna be a gift from grandparents anyway!!!) I just can't see what the Switch gives me over the Silver Cross other than a thinner frame on folding. Even then I'll still need enough space to fit the seat unit on anyway so it doesnt matter how small the frame goes!!
Has anyone had their Nuchal Fold results back. We are relieved to have got our letter with the results of our combined test - it's come back as 1:50,000.

Just the next hurdle of many to get through!!

Rapidly growing out of all my clothes. Really struggling to find any work trousers to fit. I have one pair of maternity ones which are great but I've now outgrown my last two pairs of size 14 normal ones ( normally a 12 so these had extra room!) Gonna have to go on the hunt me thinks. I was soo lucky to get boxes of maternity stuff from my sis but there was only one pair of work trousers any good (she's an 8-10!!) Lots of combats etc but I can't get away with them for work.

Still having fights with work. Having been promised the world at my home visit I'm basically filling in for all and sundry now as they can't seem to find a job for me - one week here, one day there. Seemingly making a decision and sticking to it is difficult. It's really unsettling.

Hope everyone has a good week - and welcome Heart of Crystal.

Thanks Dophus that's really helpful, you should see your GP about the pelv floor though, there are some options you can take to address it. Mine has much improved now although with bubba2 on the way pressing on my bladder, I've relapsed a bit!

Congrats scooby on your test results! On maternity trousers, getting adjustable one's can be better as they could last throughout your whole pregnancy.

Just got back from MW appt, heard hearbeat and found out Down's risk is 1:825. The average risk for my age is 1:275. So I guess I'll have to be happy with that. But of course I would have rather had 1 in a million or something!

And, my bp was 90/60, that's quite low... anyone else having low blood pressure? Better than high anyway!

Now it's time for a second breakfast...

Hi, I'm reading here lots about different types of prams and stuff.

It's making it all the real to me that DH and I are GOING TO HAVE OUR FIRST BABY soon! Feel a bit silly that it's just hitting me now!

Was just wondering at what stage do you ladies intend to decorate the nursery? Buy a pram? Buy all the other needed things for nursery/house?

I have no idea when is the 'best' time to buy these things. Advice please.

Hello all! Lots to catch up on - although I'm skipping over all mentions of pelvic floors with my fingers in my ears while trilling "lalalalala"

Am also interested to hear others' views on books to prepare DC1 for a new baby's arrival. I haven't bought any so far although I have got him a doll (his "baby"), which he likes carrying him around, although perhaps not as much as he likes racing around with said doll's pushchair. That pushchair is the only new pram/pushchair I plan to buy this time around. I'm another one who got a Phil & Ted's first time round and I'm very happy with it. Also have a Maclaren XT, which is great for travelling. (Now I just have to hope that DC2 condescends to travel in the pram. DS was about 4 months before he would go in it. Before that it was slings all the way.)

TLC, my first DC was a March baby too and I bought my pram at Christmas (although not, sadly, in the sales). Did most other baby shopping around that time too. I think it's better to do it when you're still fairly mobile IYSWIM!

Still suffering MS here. When will it end?????

scooby26 · 16/09/2009 11:46

Mumbot-completely agree with adjustable trousers. The 14s i had were just from big days! Even they dont fit now tho. Mamas n papas stuf from my sis seem good so gona head there. Tlc-we are also having dc1-starting to sink in.only been looking at prams cos dh and i dont often get time 2gether so doin it while we can! Goin to clear our spare room after 20wk scan and then paint it.will order pram and cot etc wheneva theres a sale wkend or jan sale,so we thought if we pick asap we just need to keep an eye on price.will order and pay but only take delivery 2wks before.wont build furniture til flump arrives so could go back if had to.flump wont be in own room for months anyway!

annamama · 16/09/2009 11:55

Scooby has been posting from her mobile again! Am I right...?

I'm feeling sucked into thinking about pushchairs too now thanks to you lot! Ok the big question is: will we need a double or not? Will a 2 year old (23 months at birth) want to walk herself / stand on buggy board, or will she still want to sit down? It might be good to have her "imprisoned" ie strapped in...

Hi annamama - my DS is nearly 26 months and walks some of the time but still needs pushchair, esp after a meal or for going in to town x

Hi all, got my nuchal results back and they say I am low risk which is great.
I love the fact the everyone is talking about things for their babies. It means that it is all real and happening now.
I shouldn't be thinking of things to buy because I have so much from the other two, but I can't help it. I am going to look at some double prams at the weekend. We are going to look at the Mountain buggy, out 'n' about nipper and the icandy peach. There are no other "needed" bits but have fallen in love with a moffi baby hammock.

With regard to maternity jeans, I am quite limited for shops cause I live in Worthing. The shops are rubbish but I got some great jeans from Next. Really comfy. The elastic strip is nice and narrow and soft. Hope that helps.

hecklephone · 16/09/2009 15:12

Hello all, not posted for a few days as have been quite busy over the weekend and also avoiding our PC because it keeps crashing and making me crazy!

I've also been wondering about books for DD to help her understand the whole 'new baby' thing, the idea of which she now seems to be embracing - I'm now regularly getting asked if the baby's still in my tummy...this could be a long 6 months...! We have one book which is a wee compilation of New Experiences eg getting on a plane, moving house, new puppy etc and the new baby story is a big favourite just now.

As for pram chat, I've already got a Bebeconfort HighTrek 3-wheeler job which is great for country walks etc and a Quinny Zapp for town etc but I'm seriously drooling over new pushchairs! The Zapp is good and very compact but doesn't recline and I'd like something for DC2 which is gonna be a bit bigger and more comfortable and could be used possibly from birth as there's no way I'm taking the 3 wheeler round the shops like I did with DD (once you get a pushchair you realise the error of your ways in that respect). Really wishing I'd got a Bugaboo or something like it the first time round as it seems so adaptable, but DH was strangely opinionated on the pram issue and INSISTED on the three-wheeler. I've looked at 2nd hand bugaboos but I think he'd be a bit about buying all new kit all over again!

As for pains around the tummy - I seem to get these most at night, when I'm turning over in bed, something stretches and I end up clutching my side and moaning a lot...to absolutely no response from sleeping DH. Probably just as well.

Poor both of your DDs! Oh hope the leg heals well & quickly, that can't be fun. How did it happen? (Want to add it to list of things to warn DC of when they get older...)

Oh, Pixie, your poor DD! And thank you for the description; I now feel quite sick .
Poor thing, she will be so frustrated and bored soon. Hope you find lots of sitting down entertainment for her.

I am still coughing my guts out, feel well otherwise, so not much I can do I suppose. Currently sipping Lemon and Honey, sadly no whisky in it...

As far as baby gear goes, I am sooooo badly tempted to get an Amby Nature Nest. Lots of MNers seems to rate it, so it must be fab...

Oooh hecklephone I get exactly the same thing happen to me.

Can't believe what happened pixie, sounds awful. Poor little thing.

Sariska · 16/09/2009 21:13

Oh your poor dd, Pixie. And poor you, too. I hope she makes a speedy recovery and is soon off the sofa.

And how is your dd, Sarah? Not laid up too, I hope?

Pacific, I got an Amby for ds when he was about 7 weeks old. Best £180 I ever spent. No joke. It is definitely coming out again for dc2.

LEMONADEGIRL · 16/09/2009 21:15

Hi Ladies,

Glad to read that everyone is feeling better.

I pulled out my maternity clothes from 3 years ago and was horrifed and what I had worn. I had this really awful wrap around dress that was mustard and brown and green that I thought at the time was fabulous. What was I thinking.

Have my 16 week mw appointment at endof September cannot wait to hear heartbeat

pureeandpearls · 16/09/2009 21:26

Gah Pixie- nightmare day!

TLC- I started buying stuff immediately on eBay, though put it in storage and didn't mention it until we got past 24 weeks! On which note, have just bought a double pushchair on MN for a bargain. DD will be 22 months when Babydeux is due but she's a big fan of sleep so suspect she'll still need a chance to sleep in a pushchair. Plus, TBH for tthe price I paid, I can afford to find I don't really use it.

Impressed with everyones odds- ours were 1:8500 ish and I thought that was good...

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 16/09/2009 21:27

ouch pixie that sounded painfull bless her!!!

My DD is fine, they think it may be the end of a pencil but not sure have said it will be fine not goling to remove it as there is no sign of infection and the skin is not broken so feel it may have been there for a few days!!!! not too sure myself!!!!

she is walking on it ok and doesn't appear to be in any pain,

keeps telling me lady and sore(i thinkj she is reffering to the nurse who did her jabs!!!!) poor lil lamb!!!!!

RetroMum1 · 17/09/2009 08:55

Morning All

Oh Pixie how awful it made me feel sick too when I read it. Poor little thing it must have been awful for you as well. Big hugs to her and I hope it starts to mend quickly it must be impossible to try and get a young child to sit still!.

SMH I hope you little one feels better soon as well.

I also started to buy things pretty much straight after the scan but I left the big things like pram, cot etx until after my 20 week scan and I got a lot of it from the baby show.

I brought the first thing for this LO on Tuesday it was a little duckling cardigan and matching teddy from Cath kidston. I thought I could put it in the nursery at the new house ready.
