loubud I will have an age gap of 2.5 years when my 2nd arrives, so thinking of a shiny new pram and toddler ride on step x

iwonka great news!

PacificDogwood · 05/09/2009 20:47

My age gaps are/will be: 1 year, 4 years, 2 years. DS1 will be 7 when DS4 will hopefully arrive.
I still have the double buggy from when DSs1 and 2 were little, so will have that if/when needed. Also had a toddle step which was sadly underused (v stubborn DS1).
FWIW, I do not think there is an ideal age gap, although I would not recommend to go out of your way to achieve 12 months berween kids....

I am glad I am better nauseawise, however feels really GINORMOUS, particularly the upper half of my tummy. I have never beend a waif (and never will be ), but I alreadly have a shelf under my boobs !! At 13 weeks, yikes!
Other than that busy day, had 3 of DS2's little friends to destroy the house play, DS1 had birthday party to go to, DH was away working, DS3 slept for 4(!)hours this afternoon inspite of the earthquake that was 4 small childshaped elephants trampling up and down the stairs... aawwwww, he is such a little angel, even if say so myself !
Hope everybody had a good Saturday!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 05/09/2009 21:11

pacific, glad you said about your shelf- i too have the same!!!!! thought it was just me!!!!LOL its also getting very hard!!!!lol i can just about do up my tunic for work!!!LOL (will be 15 weeks on wed)

scooby26 · 05/09/2009 21:50

Iwonka - such fab news- money well spent I should think - not that you should have to. you so should be able to get it on NHS!!

mumbot · 06/09/2009 16:15

Hi everyone, has anyone seen or got a nice winter maternity coat yet? I'm struggling to find a nice warm one. Perhaps it's too early. Just thinking ahead to those cold mornings on the train platform before commuting to work!!

scooby26 · 06/09/2009 16:54

Mumbot - Next look to have two thick winter coats. One waist length and one longer. Starts at £40. Only seen on the internet tho.

Anyone know of any decent tankinis? I'm going to Italy in 3 weeks when i'll be 17 weeks. If it was just for holiday I might not bother but I keep promising myself that I'm going to restart swimming so if I buy a tankini I'll have no excuse!! Ive seen a black nd white one at Mamas and Papas but was hoping for something a little prettier!

mumbot · 06/09/2009 17:35

Thanks scooby - just bought a tankini in the sale at blooming marvelous for £10!

pureeandpearls · 06/09/2009 19:01

Just got the maternity coat from Jojo Maman- 10% discount through MN and looks fab!!

Iwonka · 06/09/2009 21:09

Hello everybody,

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments and your support. I don't know what I would do without Mumsnet.

Happily recovering from a really horrendous week, finally feel relaxed and settled with the thought that all is alright. Had a great time shopping today for some more maternity clothes. I don't know about fall/winter coats, but there were some nice tops at Mamas and Papas and H&M.

Scooby, I'm also going away in three weeks. And will be 17 weeks as well. Where in Italy are you be going? Hopefully the weather will be nice and warm.

Oh, I am updating the list as my EDD has changed to March 6.

morning all
I have to post because i keep losing you, MN doesn't keep you very long on the I'm On bit does it? seems like 4 days?

Anyway i'm 12 wks today, scan next week to confirm dates, and then holidays the day after, yippee!
Got some fab clothes from the blooming marvellous sale, enjoying that comfy feeling again!
busy couple of days at work, but fingers crossed they go ok.

Things/foodstuffs that are generally keeping me afloat:
Diet non-caff coke (yuk, i know, but really)
Cereal
Sainsbury's decaff earl grey.

Oooh and anyone that is loving chocolate at the moment, try the Bournville Orange bar. It only seems to come in big ones but I think its lush.

Have a good day all - v pleased for you Iwonka, glad you enjoying your pg now, have everything crossed for you

Dalrymps · 07/09/2009 09:16

Morning ladies,

Hope you're all doing ok.

Haven't looked in to winter coats yet, last time my bump was so small it fit in my normal coat till about 30weeks iirc! Wouls love a nice maternity coat though...

MummyElk, if you click on 'watch' at the top of this thread it keeps it in 'threads i'm watching' and you won't loose us

of those of you going on holiday!

Off to feed ds his milk, back later

scooby26 · 07/09/2009 09:24

Iwonka - so pleased you had a better weekend. I'm off to Sorrento for our last 'couple' holiday!!! Got a big family holiday booked for next year when sister, nephews and both sets of parents are coming - free babysitting me thinks !!!!!! hee hee!!!

LouBudd · 07/09/2009 09:47

Thanks for your double pushchair advice. I didn't have one for my first 2 because ds was 3 when dd was born. I spent a fortune on a buggyboard which he hardly used. I had a m&p pramette which I used for both of them. This now needs replacing. It was fantastic but as my 2 were sooooo huge, I wished I had bought a proper full sized pram which they could have stayed lying flat in for longer. Anyone seen the new icandy peach double? It's very nice, but very expensive. About £700. Ridiculous money.

My ds starts school on Wednesday which I am very nervous about. I think we will walk sometimes but it is all up and down steep hills and takes about 20-25 mins so will need something easy to push. How I am going to get 3 children out the door by 8:15 I will never know. I have visions of walking to school in my pjs.

Caitni · 07/09/2009 10:02

Morning

Hope everyone is doing well.

Iwonka I hadn't checked in til today, so missed your worrying time. I'm so glad you went for a private scan and got a better risk assessment - phew! I'm sorry you had to go through such stress but I'm glad you're feeling better now

DB hope the results of the GTT are good, but you're probably right to avoid sweet things for the time being. I'm a bit of a low GI fanatic in "real", ie non-pregnant, life anway, and have been trying to keep it up now I'm pregnant. My problem is that I just love pizza, which is horribly high GI, but hey, you've got to have a vice!

V interesting to hear about the discussions about maternity coats. My coat's already getting tight and I'm not even 15 weeks yet! I have much more of a bump than I expected at this point...but I'm really liking it so no complaints

We're also off on holidays on Thursday night - two weeks in the States visiting my in-laws.

Dophus · 07/09/2009 10:23

Hi Everyone. I have a 2.5 gap between the first two. I also had a toddler step which wasn't really used. I managed fin without the double buggy - DS1 perches on the top of the front wheel on our Jane 3 Wheeler.

Jealous of all you about to go on hols... DH and I are off to Chicago in a month without the children! We were both supposed to be running th Chicago marathon - now I will just have to wave and cheer him on.

mumbot · 07/09/2009 12:02

Hi Dophus I'm interested in your experiences with 2.5 yr age gap and buggies, did your DS find walking OK and was that mainly in summer, just thinking of what you'd do when you need to put a rain cover on?? x

Dophus · 07/09/2009 12:56

When the baby was small I would always have the papoose and would put DS2 in there if DS1 wouldn't walk. TBH DS1 wasn't (and isn't)a great walker and would prefer to be pushed - even now he goes in the pushchair when I have it (rarely) more than DS2 (now 2) who's a great walker. I think we just got wet if it rained - I've rarely used the rain cover.

3 will be interesting...

Dophus · 07/09/2009 12:58

In fact I have always tried to avoid pushchairs unless necessary. Up to about a year ago I would put DS2 in a backpack when going shopping and keep hands free for DS1. I always used a papoose when they were small up to about 6m.

TakeLovingChances · 07/09/2009 15:45

Hello lovely ladies!

Remember back a few pages (29 Aug) when I was saying that I was bleeding? Well, I'm still bleeding 9 days later but all is well with Baby TLC.

I had a sneaky scan that day that bleeding started, and as my last post about it said, baby was happy and healthy looking.

Since then the bleeding has continued, just brown blood, no clots or anything, but really annoying and not very nice.

I had a routine midwife appointment today, and she did that little foetal heartbeat monitor thing to check its heart. It was amazing to hear it! So clear and loud! She is confident that all is well with Baby TLC and that "some women just bleed."

Yay!

scooby26 · 07/09/2009 16:03

TLC - congrats on a fab result. Must be reassuring to hear the heartbeat! x

RetroMum1 · 07/09/2009 16:08

Hi All

Sorry I have been away for so long!. Iwonka I'm really glad things turned out so well and good news for you too TLC. I also bled for 6 weeks with this pregnancy and on and off until 19 weeks with DD, my midwife also told me that i was just one of those women who bleed.

Which coat did you get from JoJo was it the green one, I have looked at that and think it's lovely.

I had my scan today hence why I have finally had the confidence to put my name down on the list! Odds of 1:30,287 for downs which I was pleased with.

Had a very busy week. I was talking about maybe moving back to the Cotswolds from London last week. Well DH got the formal transfrer through on Wednesday and then told on Thursday that he had to start by 1st October and be living there my mid October. So we have been up there all weekend looking for somewhere to live. Luckily we have foud somewhere beautiful which has made me slightly happier about the move!. It is a 5 bed farm house with a huge garden and horses and cows for DD to play with. It is much bigger than the 3 bed semi we have now and is pretty much my dream Cath Kidston country retreat. Although I will still be sad to leave all my friends and London. So I have been merrily sorting removals, bills and signing up to toddler classes there for DD!. We have 4 weeks until the move and 1 week of that we are on holiday and we have DD's birthday party too so a busy month for us!. DB how are you getting on with your packing and move?

Anyway that's it for me and my selfish post just wanted to fill you all in!. Hope everybody is feeling ok today and had a good weekend

xxx

OK who wants to go and live at RetroMum's new house? Meeeee

Sounds gorgeous!

Great news from you TLC

Dophus · 07/09/2009 16:14

Lots of positive posts!

Iwonka - great news
TLC - also brilliant!
Retro - your move to the Cotswolds sounds idyllic. I love the Cotswolds. I live in a little village in Surrey and would love to head out a little bit more.

We have our house on the market and have just found the one we want - really need a buyer now!

PacificDogwood · 07/09/2009 16:24

Glad to hear TLCs good news, good for you and babyTLC.

Retro, that house sounds phantastic! We live in the not v glamorous suburbs (not metropolitan/not country chic ), so what you are describing just sounds idyllic. Will all those animals be neighbours or yours to look after??

And to all those still to go on holiday, have a great time! Hope the weather gods are good to you all, wherever you're going...

Pingpong · 07/09/2009 16:31

Wow lots has happened since I last logged on.
Iwonka I'm so pleased that you got some great advice here and were rescanned/retested and your stats are soooo much better
TLC sorry to hear you are still bleeding but great that the hb is so strong. Like your MW says some women just bleed - but it must be scary though.
Retro the Cotswold house sounds lovely
loubudd My DD will be 23 months when this LO arrives. I have to confess to getting a P&T first time round - despite the woman in the pram shop telling me No one buys them first time round! Anyway I already have the doubles kit and it's very handy for taking DD and her wee chum out and about.
Not much to report chez Smac. I'm still being sick and I'm 15w +3 - feel very different compared to my pregnancy with DD so keep thinking is this a boy!? DH would be delighted! I also have a shelf. I'm bigger now than I was at 20w first time.
I've got the triple test next week and need to make an appointment with the MW for 16weeks.
