hi all
Really sad to heard CAFW's news, am thinking of her. Also made me sit up a bit - my scan was a couple of weeks ago, and showed me to be, um, 11 weeks at present, heart beating etc. They can't fit me in for a repeat performance until 13 weeks which is fine. But I have to admit I've been feeling pretty relaxed about this pg, i think because i saw the heartbeat etc. Does anyone know about mc and chances once the heartbeat is present? I know you aren't ever safe, so please don't think I'm all lacksadaisical about it all, I was just relieved at the scan to see baby etc.
Anyway won't bring the thread down, just pondering really, and thinking of poor CATW and hoping she's ok.
No pg problems today apart from usual half-charged battery, and potential headache from drinking NOTHING all day - naughty MummyElk!!
Can't tell you about London - am in Bristol and love it, have my own moving dilemmas but will leave that for another day!

scooby26 · 02/09/2009 18:49

Really sorry to hear CAFW's news liek everyone else.

Mummyelk- MC rate drops to less than 2% once you have a strong heartbeat on a scan after 8 weeks - so all positive.

Rindercella · 02/09/2009 18:52

Very sorry to hear CAFW's news. Utterly heartbreaking for her

DrSkid, I'm not a million miles away from you. I live in a village in N Oxfordshire & quite often pop into Oxford

becky7000 · 02/09/2009 19:34

Really sorry to hear about CAFW.

I had my 16 week check today and got to hear the heartbeat, which was great. I am now quite sure that what I can feel in the evenings is the baby and not wind!

Hope everyone else is doing ok. It already feels like we have been PG forever!

designerbaby · 02/09/2009 20:17

Oh no... I can't believe we lost another thread member. I really was starting to think we were all home and dry. How awful for CAFW just when she thought she was out of the woods.

On a slightly lighter note, we finally exchanged on our sale/purchase today - 6 LOOONG months after the process began. And we have to be out of here and into our rented flat in a week and a half. Haven't even started packing yet because we didn't want to tempt fate...

The builders have sledgehammers in hand and are itching to start knocking down walls - which is also a bit scary...

Have stupid GTT test tomorrow. Bah... NO food for me after 10pm! No breakfast cuppa! Double and triple Bah!

Love to all, and especially CAFW even though shw prob. won't read this, poor love.

Bit of a day today, all in all.

DB - I know I already said on fb but woo hoo on exchanging, what a relief!

BlueyDragon · 02/09/2009 22:39

Crikey, you turn your back for a couple of days and there's 13 pages to read to catch up.

So sad for MrsSnow, Shyla and CAFW. Big hugs and supportive vibes.

On the up side, it's nice to hear lots of good scan news and hopefully those who are having a rough ride are hanging on in there.

Had the 12 week scan not last Friday but the one before. Count: 1 baby, appropriate numbers of limbs and even 2 halves of a brain (!). Combined test came out low risk so all good thus far. The due date's come forward by a day so I'll post an updated list in a mo. No name as yet, apart from Pickle in honour of the amount of wine that was consumed before I knew I was pregnant . It's having it's revenge - I can't touch any alcohol now, or coffee. No fruit cravings, but don't get between me and a plate of pasta.

Finally had to succumb to non-wired bras, only to find that the woman in the first shop I tried was an idiot (wouldn't measure me, then offered to let me try a C cup as I'd grow into it. I didn't even make it to a C cup last time I was pregnant, and I'm starting from an even lower base this time ) and M&S don't make maternity bras in less than a C cup. Have bought the only non-underwired bra I could stand in M&S - does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find something for the smaller busted woman that doesn't look like my non-existent b00bs have been strait-jacketed?

Anyone else apart from me, Dophus and Tigress heading for Frimley Park? I'm not doing any NCT/classes this time so it would be nice to find a few people with brand new babies in the area if anyone felt like meeting up.

Hmmm, think that's all I had to say apart from Arcadie I've asked to join the FB group. Please let me in! Initials are EH, profile pic of an alien/me in bike leathers and helmet.

Sorry for the long waffle but there was a lot to catch up on - hope everyone's doing OK this week.

Hey BlueyDragon will yoube at Frimley Park too? This is my first time so I am doing the NCT classes, they have been booked and paid for for weeks (!) but am happy meet up some time to share experiences.

Dalrymps · 03/09/2009 08:33

Morning ladies

Bluey - Great news on the scan!

How is everyone today?

I've had more energy and less indigestion the past few days, hope it lasts!

CakeandFineWine · 03/09/2009 09:02

Hi all,
My final post
Thanks for all your messages, its nice to know people r thinking of you as its quite hard to talk in rl!
Going in for ERPC today hopefully so should all be over this time tomorrow, it was quite a shock after an OK scan, guess it wasn't meant to be and hopefully will be on another antenatal group soon xx
On a happier note, I'm surely the last one so good luck everyone else as you bumps will soon be protruding! xxxxx

Dophus · 03/09/2009 10:00

Where do you both live? I'm in Ottershaw (at present but house is on the but work in Windlesham.

Walnut8 · 03/09/2009 10:19

Like everyone else, really sorry to hear about your news CAFW. I hope everything goes okay for you today and I'm sure like you say, you will be on another antenatal group soon.

Designerbaby, hope GTT goes well today. I couldn't cope with nothing to eat first thing in the morning, it's usually the only thing that stops me from feeling really ill. My nausea has really eased off this week though - feels strange!

Dophus · 03/09/2009 10:42

How's everyone doing on the tiredness? My nausea is bettwer but I'm still dog-tired.

rebeccacad · 03/09/2009 11:03

Hi there

was so sorry to heat CAFW's news - that must be awful to deal with at this stage and I have everything crossed that you'll be on a new thread very soon.

Trying to catch up on everyone's posts after a week on holiday. Relieved for all of you who have had good scans so far and fingers crossed for those still to come.

My scan last week was lovely - baby looked like it was waving at us and I cried like an idiot.

Starting to look more pregnant now - though mini bump looks a little odd now that it's getting strangely hairy - does anyone else have this or am I turning in to a werewolf?!

x

hecklephone · 03/09/2009 11:14

Morning all

Nausea and tiredness definitely easing up for me, dophus. Have been feeling much better the past couple of weeks so making the most of it - have even been out for a walk or two to try and kid myself I'm getting lots of exercise! Cravings mostly gone too for the moment - I really only felt strongly about what to eat while I was feeling sick. However I did have a very strong compulsion for a tuna and crisp sandwich on white bread the other evening, which my wonderful DH very kindly made for me (although he did give me a look like I'd just asked him to pop out and get me some coal ice cream with a side order of gerkhin)

Sorry to hear of your news CAFW and hope things go much better for you soon.

DB well done on the house stuff and all the best with the GTT. I bet you're already fantasising about what to eat when it's over?!

Hope everyone has a productive Thursday - I'm off to clean the bathroom - bah.

Sariska · 03/09/2009 12:23

BlueyDragon, I got some non-underwired A-cup bras from Figleaves just before I found out I was pregnant. They still fit and I really like them as they give me a good shape without the straitjacket effect and are very comfortable. I'm afraid I can't remember the brand name (am at work so can't check easily without half undressing in the loos) but can let you know later, if you want. Mine are padded but I think they do the same type unpadded, if you prefer. Anyway, soooo much better than the M&S training bra options, which seemed to be my only easily available High St non-underwired option. Am now just hoping that I grow enough to fit into nursing bras. I did last time so fingers crossed.

Tiredness and morning sickness lifting somewhat here but am craving s&v kettle chips. That can't be ideal.

How was the GTT, DB? My midwife muttered something about sending me for one of these when I made the mistake of telling her that my mother had had gestational diabetes during one of her pregnancies. I demurred and said that I was happy to go if one of the regular urine sugar tests showed a problem but that otherwise didn't feel it was necessary. Anyway, I can't stand lucozade and it's lucozade-type stuff that they make you drink, isn't it?

Has anyone who has had their scan not yet 'fessed up to work yet? I haven't and am rather dreading doing so. Not because I think they'd try to trample all over my rights - I am confident they won't; I'm a lawyer and work in the employment dept - but because it's only been 7 months since I returned from my first maternity leave and because I will be the latest in a long line of women in my department to announce a pregnancy. Also, just about everyone at work knows that I was blessed with the incredible non-sleeping baby first time around (won't go into that here but will just say - as reassurance for anyone who might be dreading something similar - that he's a lot, lot better now), found the first few months exhausting beyond belief and swore blind to anyone who'd listen that I was never doing that again. And now look at what I've gone and done .

Caitni · 03/09/2009 12:24

Hello ladies

DB hurray on the house front! Though it's going to be busy on the packing front . Hope the GTT today goes ok [fingers firmly crossed emoticon]

CAFW hope the ERPC goes OK. Really hope to see you back on an antenatal thread soon xx

Dophus also still pretty tired but it's better than it was (when I was zombie after 6pm!).

Hecklephone oooh that tuna sandwich sounds divine!

Becky that's great about the heartbeat .

My 16 week check up yesterday was fine - though because I was only 14+1 it was very hard to hear the heartbeat. Not too worried, as we did hear it, just v faintly, and the doctor was very reassuring about it being early to hear it clearly this way. The worst bit was that I had to wait nearly two hours to be seen because of a doctor off sick. So my blood pressure was a bit higher than last time!

designerbaby · 03/09/2009 14:08

HI all - back from the GTT... Not much to it really. Arrived at 10am feeling slightly sick and light-headed after marathon 1.5 hour home > tube > nursery > bus > hospital trek. Blood test taken in the fastest time known to man and cup full of THE most disgusting, well, syrup, is how best to describe it (if you've had lactulose, it's basically a cup full of that - YUK) to be downed. Kill 2 hours, and return for further blood test to find out how body has dealt with the revolting gloop.

Badly, I would reckon, as by the time I returned I was feeling sick and shaky and had a crashing headache. Don't know if it means anything at all, but my body definitely didn't seem to be enjoying the experience too much...

Anyway, treated myself to a Pret a Manger lunch and am feeling uch improved. And only a week to go until my next scan - who-hoo!

Knackered at the moment, but that has more to do with my DD's new start time of 5.45am than PG. Every soding morning, for the last week! ike bloody clockwork. Argh!!!

Have been hauling her into bed with us, which used to result in more snoozes, but now she wants to have conversations and give me dreadlocks.

This must stop... MAy have become tough mean mummy again - but I don't really have the energy...

Really chuffed about the house today. Woke up (even though early) and it was like a huge load had been lifted.

db
xx

ilovegreenbeans · 03/09/2009 14:21

Ah db- is it the weather? We've been having such early morning wake ups here too! Used to just be able to leave her too as she'd play with her animals, or drop off again- no luck anymore as she stands up in her cot and yells until we (DH ) go in.

I had a consultant appt this morning to discuss my PPH last time. Was lovely doc and v reasurring that even if it happens again, being aware means we can have some precautions in place to be ready for it. Feel much better about giving birth this time.

ilovegreenbeans · 03/09/2009 14:22

Oh, and loving my new HotMilk Midnight Mystique bra!

Tigresswoods · 03/09/2009 17:02

Hey Dophus am in Farnborough. If you are on the facebook group, I am too. Let me know and we can organise something from there.

mumbot · 04/09/2009 08:20

DB thanks for your post on GTT, I've got that coming up so it was really useful. I had a sugar crash yesterday even though I had eaten throughout the day!

Great to hear everyone is doing well - 14 weeks today for me hooray x
