Congrats and welcome to new mums!

midnightsun - your post made me laugh.

I showed a you tube video of a birth to my 6 and 3 year old girld. I've always been quite open about where the baby comes out and they dont seem fussed about it.

But before you all think "OH MY GOD!", the video is of a water birth where the woman looks like she has some trapped wind rather than being in labour, small groaning sounds, she is in the water sitting up so you can not see anything graphic. the baby comes out under the water and her little son about 4yrs passes the baby to his mum - that makes me cry everytime.

here it is:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBlh1xbO3Qg&feature=related

My dd's immediately shouted, "oh please can we do that?". Unfortunately I think that birth was one in a million. I think i make noises a bit louder than that wonder woman

I am a much happpier relaxed person today. Some of you will know how i stressed about a nurse not being able to pick up my babies heart beat recently and that I was experiencing pain. well a mw found the heartbeat today and i was so relieved to hear it galloping away. she said there was lots of movement and he/she was moving all over the place

sickness is getting less and less so i think the nice bit is around the corner - thankfully!

Hi Ladies, am new here (thanks Pops78 for the link). I am due 27th February. Had a good scan today. Have suffered terribly with ms (lost my job because of it) but now starting to ease. I must admit I look forward to a day of not feeling/being sick. Hope you are all starting to feel better. When does the energy return?!

Welcome to the new people on the thread.

I went to the emergency dentist today (I also ate a load of ice cream, but it was NOT worth two days of throbbing toothache!!) and he took the nerve out and patched it up until he can do the treatment properly once the baby is born. I asked about doing it when I was breastfeeding and he said best to wait. I said that if this baby is like ds, then we will probably still be waiting in 5 years! So I have an appointment for April....

I have felt a few more flutters going on in there. DS is desperate to feel them, but it will be a good few weeks yet I think. It must seem like forever for him.

elebereth · 20/08/2009 21:01

I have been feeling something, can't say it is movement. It feels like a tension or something for a split second, several times during the day. When I wake up my tummy is nice and calm and then I start moving and these little tensions begin. Has anyone experienced it? And when will "proper" movements start?

chinook · 20/08/2009 21:21

Welcome to elebereth, grin and westlondongirl. Lovely to have you join us. Westlondongirl - I am truly shocked you lost your job through ms. I thought it was illegal for preg related issues to count towards sickness etc. Can't believe what some companies get away with.

midnightsun - had to chuckle at your description of old maternity clothes. I got mine out last week and was horrified by the high lycra content. Although when I tried them on they do actually make you look smaller than the billowy smock/tunic things I have been hiding in.

Today was my dd's first sports day at nursery. It was so cute and sent my preg hormones into overdrive. I was such a proud weepy mum.

Please can those of you not worried about labour keep saying how much you are looking forward to it. I really need to get my head around the fact I have to do it again....

devotion · 20/08/2009 22:33

chinook - its great, even fun

i'm going to pay for this

... nah really, we will all be grrrrreat!

westlondongirl · 21/08/2009 09:33

Hi chinook. Technically they didn't fire me so they did nothing illegal. It was a three month contract and they couldn't be without me for more than a couple of days which wasn't enough time to recover as I had hyperemisis. So I had to leave. It sucks but I had no other option.

Hope everyone is feeling ok. I have had bad headaches these last couple of weeks, Ive heard its normal tho??? Other than that I have begun to feel lots better, hardly any sickness, still very tired tho!

grin · 21/08/2009 14:22

Hi all

mawbroon - glad to hear the tooth on the mend. Your dentist sounds very nice and sensible.

Glynnispig - after no headaches at all last time round I have had some corkers this time. Usually it's when I'm tired and really the only thing to send it packing it a night's sleep. Depending on your feelings on such things, Earl Grey tea is v good for headaches (I've been repulsed by the thought of a cup of tea since being pg but when not I usually go for one of these when I feel a headache coming on), and that 4Head is good too.

I have finally stopped feeling sick, yippee but only said quietly for those still suffering! I can't wait for the energy to kick back in though. How's everyone else feeling today?

scoobyd00 · 21/08/2009 19:16

Had a very busy week with something on every night and handing over at work. I'm now on holiday for 2 weeks thenI start my new job in september. 2 weeks os sun and chilling out - I can't wait!

Good to hear that people are starting to feel less icky. I'm not quite sure what to do about the whole labour thing, learn everything or go in completely ignorant!

I'll catch up with everyone in a few weeks - I can't believe we'll all be around 4 months by then!

Scooby

Insanitybecomesme · 21/08/2009 19:29

Hello and welcome to all the new people that have appeared over the last few days.

I will be heading off on hols in the morning for a week so shall have alot of catching up to do next sunday.

I hope everyone has a good week

TheOldestCat · 21/08/2009 19:38

Evening all and welcome to everyone joining us recently.

Glad that tooth has had a temporary repair mawbroon.

I'm crazily knackered since we were at hospital with DD until 2:30 (she gets croup so we have to take her for the nebuliser, steroids etc). Got to bed at half 3 then up for work at 6, argghhh.

DH took the day off to look after her; I think the cricket eased the pain somewhat

Off to bath DD, then bed for all of us.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

raindroprhyme · 21/08/2009 22:27

hi everyone hope you a all blooming, i am definitly expanding not sure about blooming

chinook it is my birthday on 4th Feb and DS2 was born on 5th feb. due to the large amonut of food i ate on my birthday when DH's best mate took me out for lunch. i think i put him off getting anyone preggers ever as i cost him a fortune. He was only doing DH a favour as well cos DH was stuck in a meeting so sent him instead of standing me up.

really hope this bubba does not come on my birthday may just be pregnancy hormones but i am not in mood to share.

mawbroon · 22/08/2009 10:42

Urgh, I'm a bit boaktastic this morning. I have been raking in the fridge and freezer this morning whilst making a meal plan and shopping list for the week. The very sight of some foods have had me wretching, but fortunately not sick.

Then I had to pick up some poo out the front. I don't know if it was dog/fox/cat but it nearly made me hurl too.

Just when I thought I was over this horrible bit.....

Scan and booking in on Monday, which I am quite excited about.

My boobs are continuing to balloon. Strange that they are getting bigger, but they are producing less milk! DS is being very good about it. He says he will keep trying and wait until the "funny milk" (I've told him about colostrum) comes in.

HOpe you are all having a good weekend. Enjoy those holidays, those who are going away.

chinook · 22/08/2009 20:48

raindroprhyme - that is exactly how I feel. I don't want to share my birthday either. Must be an aquarian thing. How funny that 2 of your dc's will be born so close together. You must really get that spring time frisky thing in May!

Am feeling no better but have spent a lovely day down on the south coast, which at least took my mind off it.

Anyone else just watch the X Factor? Wasn't that teacher guy, Daniel, fantastic and cute? I always think the X Factor series lasts forever, yet when this one finishes we will STILL be pregnant. Hopefully my ms will have eased by then though...

Enjoy the weather tomorrow everyone. It's supposed to be a scorcher

raindroprhyme · 23/08/2009 17:20

Chinook - yes when we told MIL about this baby she took great delight in asking if there was a special date in may!! She then said to the waiter (we were out for dinner) Surely birthdays where more traditional.

ktpie · 24/08/2009 10:04

Morning everyone,

Mawbroon - how sweet about your DS! I was still BF when I got pregnant and was wondering how my DS was going to react to the colostrum but he dropped the BF a month or so in, just lost interest, I wonder if the taste of the milk changed or something?

I need to dig out my maternity clothes, all of the trousers I had used to fall down all the time so I think I'll have to treat myself to some new ones.

I was feeling loads of movements for a while but not much now. Have a MW appointment tomorrow, at last, it's been a pain trying to get an appointment, they seem to have been on loads of holidays!

Hope everyone is feeling allright.

esselle · 24/08/2009 13:21

Well this is impressive - I have eaten so many biscuits tonight while watching tv that I have managed to make my belly button pop out!

What a greedy little pig I am!

mawbroon · 24/08/2009 13:52

Hi everyone. I had my scan and booking in this morning. They have changed my due date to 27th Feb, which was a couple of days to the one they first said, but one day differnent from my own estimate. Why do they never listen when you tell them that you know exactly when you ovulated?

The scan was fine. Baby is 10cm and did a couple of flips. So, I am pleased that all is well.

The midwife asked if I had breastfed ds, and I said that he still breastfeeds, and she laughed and I though "oh no, just what I need" but then she said she thought it was brilliant, and well done. I was expecting negativity, so that was a nice surprise.

grin · 24/08/2009 14:22

Midwives love a bit of breastfeeding, in my experience. Glad to hear the scan was good and baby performed for the camera.

I had my 16 wk check with midwife this morning - it was the midwife who delivered my DS1 which was lovely! The check itself was a bit short and swift - blood pressure, talked through blood test results, and that was about it. No doppler, no fundus check. Felt a tiny bit deflated as next check not till Nov. Saying that though I have my scan before then. Plus have borrowed friend's doppler so I will hear that tiny heartbest racing.

I LOVED your post esselle and I approve wholeheartedly. I have just eaten a Breakaway, a mini Jaffa roll and two Toblerone Tinies. I seem to be having a bit of a choc craving. But then I get them out of pg too.

ktpie all the best for your appt - am sure all is well and little one is just chillaxing as them young'uns say

TheOldestCat · 24/08/2009 14:38

Glad the scan went well, mawbroon.

Am chuckling at esselle and grin - glad I'm not the only one having chocolate cravings. Just had to hotfoot it to Boots (nearest choccy vendor) for a biscuit Boost bar. And I always tell people that working from home means I'm not tempted by all the calorific distractions of the office...

How's everyone feeling? At 14 weeks, I think I'm over the worst of the morning sickness, although I do get ill on the train on the days I go into work. Hope you're all feeling good today.

grin · 24/08/2009 14:56

We are now up to 8 Toblerone Tinies . I think I have to stop now. I will start on fruit I think...

Glad your morning sickness is easing off TheOldestCat - such a relief when it does.

flyingcloud · 24/08/2009 15:02

Me too - suffering the worst chocolate craving in history which doesn't help my skin which has reverted to adolescent breakouts.

Having felt amazing for the last week or so, I had a blood test this morning (my monthly toxoplasmosis check and another one for DS markers...? haven't really understood that one) and when I got home I had really bad shakes and had to lie down for an hour. I also had to have some energy boosting food (vanilla flavoured yop... so synthetic but hit the spot) as I just felt so rubbish for a couple of hours.

Feeling great again now. I do get a lot of late night pains which keep me awake though and I'm not sure if they're stress related (work has been a bit crap recently) or if I should worry. I suffer from bad trapped wind, even outside of pregnancy, and it's been a lot worse recently - I hope it's just that.

I am sure in the moments that I am lying awake at night that I have felt the odd flutter in my tummy. I am so desperate to feel something though maybe I'm imagining it.

Off to get another chocolate cereal bar (not qquite as bad as a full-blown bar of chocolate).

grin · 24/08/2009 15:05

Perhaps mention to mw next time you see her? I'm sure you're right about trapped wind though, one of the glamourous effects of being pg. Not as un-glam as when it's not trapped though...

How many weeks are you flyingcloud? Could well be flutters.

2Happy · 24/08/2009 15:17

Hello. Been at my sister's in London the last few days, looks like I've missed a lot of chat!

Welcome to everyone joining us.
Great news about Bettymum, hope everything goes well for her this time.
Mawbroon - glad the scan went well
Essele - PMSL at your outy!

No news. Was feeling less sick for a bit of last week, then horribly sick again, so it's not gone yet. And very tired. And instead of my belly gradually increasing by the evening, it's now getting bigger by lunchtime, though not to the extent of needing maternity clothes yet, thank goodness. Can't justify buying more as this is definitely The Last One, but don't have a huge amount of clothes.
