Southernbelle - nightmare I hope the crutches do start to help, when you have a chance to use them.

Naetha, feel better soon, poor you

Katster, sometimes its a blessing when websites do that - I've saved sooo much money that way

Tigger have a great holiday

Ninja, do you have any apple crumble going spare? I've been craving it for days and DP doesn't have a dish I can make it in!!!

Beepbeep, he's doing it too. He pushes out with his back so hard sometimes. Its the strangest sensation, but hurts enough for me to poke him back into a more practical position. Ouch.

ursigurke enjoy the wedding

lemontop, know you won't see this, but have an AMAZING day

Sorry to those of you with leg cramps. I haven't noticed mine too badly as I always had them to a degree with ME, but they do seem to have gotten worse...

DP cheered me right up last night. Bought me flowers, chocolate and cheese! And then we lounged around, watching silly films and giggling for hours. Treated myself to a Rose spritzer. My roses are so gorgeous Lazy day, today, I think. Its Gay Pride, but I don't know if I can face the crowds this year. We'll see. Bacon sarnie time!!!

southernbelle77 · 01/08/2009 18:01

Ohhhhh leg cramps are horrible aren't they! I used to get them as a child but the doctors said it was because I needed more salt in my diet! Haven't had them for years until being pregnant this time (don't remember them with dd).

Pav - not taken the pram out the box yet! I'm pretty sure its on the heavy side from what I have read but hoping that won't really be a problem too much as will be walking around with it rather than lugging it in the car (too much)! It looks lovely and have seen a few around so hopefully it will be good. I just bought a travel system when we had dd but I didn't really like it and we got rid of the pushchair side of it when she was about 2 as it was wearing away! Still got the car seat part so still going to use that (it will be ok 5 years on won't it?).

Erika did you go and see Gay pride in the end? We were thinking about going down as dd would love the festival atmosphere but then the inlaws offered to have her today and I wasn't going to pass up the break

Told dh today that we really should start thinking about names just in case little one decides to come early (not this early one hopes, but you never know!). DD had been insistent on one name for a while and we were half thinking about it because it was sweet she had decided on it, but seems she has forgotten so I've been making a list although at the moment nothing really sticks out! If it does happen to pop out a boy (after comforting dd and telling her a brother is fine!) then I already have a name in mind as it was my mums maiden name as since she has passed away I thought it would be a lovely idea. But struggling a bit with girls names!

funtimewincies · 01/08/2009 18:46

Lol at the wrigglers!

Ds used to push towards my back with his hands and feet which made his bottom 'crest' from one side to the other like a whale surfacing. He did it during a MW appointment once and she dropped the doppler in shock . This one is a lot quieter so far.

Have a great time, all those going on hols.

scarlotti · 01/08/2009 19:34

I've read that leg cramps is a sign of a lack of calcium. I can't see how that's true with me though, I'm drinking pints of the stuff to keep the heartburn at bay!

We didn't go down to pride, although we do normally. Too tired and miserable weather were enough excuse for me!

southernbelle it would appear that car seats expire after 5 years, although you can confirm with the manufacturer for their exact date. It's to do with the plastic and other materials degrading over time. Apparently the constant changing from hot to cold in cars etc. takes it toll. We've checked the date on ours and it will run out on 15th Feb 2010, when little one is 3 months old. So now we have to decide whether to buy another or whether this whole expiry date thing is a bit OTT.

I got my pram from eBay and can't wait to take it out!!

southernbelle77 · 01/08/2009 19:40

Thanks scarlotti that is interesting! How did you find out the expiry date? Will have a look and see if I can find more info online! Would never have really thought they expire.

BeckyBendyLegs · 01/08/2009 20:20

I'm not sure about the lack of calcium thing either - I eat my own weight in cheese every week and drink pints of milk yet I get them!

I'm talking the DSs to my dad's caravan tomorrow which is in Borth in Wales (which has wi fi so I'll be in touch while we're away!!!!). They are sooooo excited. I'm just off to calm them down and put them to bed

I just hope my back gets better! It still hurts like hell whenever I try to bend down, get off the toilet, stand up, etc. Ahhh. I'm such a crap patient as well. I don't do pain or illness or any of that stuff. I'm like your average man!

hobnob57 · 01/08/2009 20:48

Well hello there you lot!

We are back from the wild west, having had a lovely relaxing time catching up with folk and pottering on the beach. DD could spend WEEKS throwing shells into the sea!

I can't possibly catch up on the weeks I have missed but I hope that you are all blooming and that the niggles (sorry to hear about the leg cramps - they sound nasty) aren't too bad and too frequent. I really hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot by saying this, but this pg seems to be so much better than my first - and long may that last! So far, MS stopped after 13 weeks or so instead of 17-18, my SPD is taking longer to develop, the heartburn has been intermittent and easily rectified with gaviscon (I was eating Rennies by the dozen throughout pg#1) and I'm generally feeling more able. Sorry if any of you are having a crap time

On SPD - I do swear that my Earth shoes help immensely. I saw the physio last week and got a big tubigrip which helps on heavy days and she'll give me a fembrace when the time comes. The physio said that anything which recruits your bum muscles like leaning backwards will help (re. earth shoes), as will pulling in your belly button and lower abdominals whenever you are doing anything). Whoever is on crutches, please rest up and do as little as possible. Rest is the only reprieve when you get to that stage.

Appetite - last time I was so afraid of food after dreadful MS that I could only nibble, and fruit seemed to be the cure-all. This time, especially since being on hols, I am wolfing down carbs like they are going out of fashion - the more sugary the better. I'm so at myself since I swore I'd look after the waistline better this time in the 3rd trimester when my sweet cravings kicked in last time. I've failed already! This week I have managed to either make my way through whole packets of biscuits, cakes or a bucket of those yogurt-coated crunchy snack things each day. My bump is SO much bigger than last time due to the extra blubber!

DD is getting very sweet about this baby - her teddies are giving the bump frequent kissies. But she did ask once if we could move it when I was getting at her for kicking it whilst she was on the toilet!

ErikaMaye · 02/08/2009 00:54

Southernbelle - Nah, it CHUCKED it down! We just were incredibly lazy instead. Shame... Its usually a good laugh.

I'm so not getting enough calcium. Too much cheese is making me feel sick, and I can't stand drinking milk. Ugh.

Am meeting DPs Dad for the first time tomorrow... Oh the irony - am 6 months with his first grandchild. Am so nervous. Having a spritzer to calm me down. (Yes, yes, I had one yesterday as well, BUT I'm going by the regulations that say I can have a few glasses a week )

I think the little one has mistaken my bladder for a trampoline... Need a wee AGAIN!

beepbeep · 02/08/2009 07:11

Went to see Harry Potter last night and then to Nandos for tea - yummy!! Though think my chicken was a little hot as this one was wriggling for England afterwards. Harry Potter was good, seemed alot darker than previous ones and sitting for 2.5hours was really uncomfy. Good to get out without the kids tho!

Also getting leg cramps, had them in previous pregnacies so no suprise but nt nice all the same.

DD was up at 3 this morning and then had a tantrum when i told her she had to go back to bed, she then reappeared in our room at 6 this morning, we ignored her, she climbed into our bed and then fell sleep. So left her and DH snuggled up asleep - very sweet! (unfortunately DS hasn't taken the same opportunity for a lay in!).

southernbelle77 · 02/08/2009 07:16

Morning all

Hope you have a lovely time in Wales BBL and hope your back doesn't play you up too much

Hobnob sounds like you had a lovely time away which is great and it's also good that you are having a better time this pregnancy so far Long may that continue for you. I am on crutches for spd (when I am able to use them) but resting is not an option so much at the moment! I'm going to go look up earth shoes now though.

Don't blame you for not going down Erika the weather was foul wasn't it! Good luck with meeting dp's dad today. I'm sure it will be fine.

DH is probably taking dd out again today! Sundays seem to work that way at the moment! Its good I think as I am with dd all the time now it's holidays and so them getting to spend time together without me is good for them, and means I get a break too. Do need to do some housework though as it seems to build up until Sunday which is about the only chance I get!

helips · 02/08/2009 07:59

Hi all, Just found you all!

Sorry to hear about your swine flu Naetha and hope you feel better soon. I've only just got over it myself and think the cough was the worst thing about it, it kept me awake at night! Hopefully the Relenza will kick in soon and you'll be back to your old self soon!

Right, only read some of this thread so will catch up on the rest now! Hope everyone is having a nice weekend! We were meant to be going camping but it got rained off, what a shame

katster37 · 02/08/2009 09:51

Helips sorry to hear you also had swine flu. Did it take you a long time to recover? I must admit, I am pretty scared of it, especially in the autumn - am not relishing the thought of going back to work (primary school)... But not much we can do I suppose. Did the Relenza really help? Anyway, glad to hear you sound like you are making a good recovery. Naetha I am sure you will be doing so too. Have you taken the Relenza? BTW, are you from W Yorkshire? I was born and brought up in Huddersfield - going back there on Friday, can't wait!

Erika good luck for meeting DP's Dad - you will be fine!

Southernbelle hope you manage to get lots done while DP and DD are out (and also have a rest!)

Our IKEA delivery arrived at 11pm last night so got a ton of de-flat-packing to get done, plus the workmen are coming tomorrow to sort out the spare room - lots of housey madness today, and meant to be meeting some friends for Sunday lunch... Not sure how it is all going to happen but already made quite a good start (well, DH has done, anyway... I have been more of a 'helpful' observer)

Tamlin · 02/08/2009 11:42

Leg cramps are supposed to be lack of zinc, aren't they..? I'm having a banana a day along with walnuts to try and ward them off - I tend to leap around the bed shrieking and swearing while a half-asleep DH makes ascerbic comments about my pain tolerance levels. I remember thinking with DS 'Gosh, I hope labour pains aren't this bad, I won't cope at all' - and then they were worse!

My holiday to France has been cut short for a week for various long and crummy reasons, so instead of three days in Lyons and then a week at the beach, it's now just going to be three days in Lyons, sans DH. DH is saying cheerily 'Maybe we can go to Wales for a weekend in September!' but quite frankly, it's not quite the same.

helips · 02/08/2009 13:01

katster it took me a good few weeks to recover, but felt like more of a bad cold than flu. To be honest I'm glad I've got it out of the way now. The doctor didn't give me Relenza as I didn't have a high fever, I think they are reluctant to prescribe pregnant women anything unless your symptoms are really bad.

Tamlin sorry your holiday has been cut short, you must be really disappointed. Any chance you can get away later on?

Got to sort out my spare room this afternoon as really got to make a start on ds' room so that the baby can go in his nursery. Starting to panic as it takes 6-8weeks for furniture to arrive and then will have to wait for the new smell to disappear before we move ds in, so that doesn't leave very long. Hope our beany doesn't arrive early so we can get everything done in time. I know s/he will be in our room for the first few months but I really want ds settled in his new room before the baby arrives just in case he gets jealous and wants his old room back!

EasyEggs · 02/08/2009 15:47

Wow we've moved lol! That will serve me right for being out the loop for so long. Sorry I don't have a chance to even try reading through the millions of previous posts

I hope everyone is well and starting to feel some of this "bloom" we are supposed to have.

Surprisingly enough I'm not feeling too bad. Everyone keeps saying I must be exhausted having the other 4 to look after but ds has finally started sleeping at night after 10 very long months! So I'm actually feeling better than I have in a long time

All apart from the sickness bug I caught last week and other ds came down with last night so up and down to him all night long. Just praying the others stay well.

Been manic here. Had dd's 2nd birthday last week, she had a great time but that really was hard work, I think I'll stick to small family parties from now on!

I'm so unorganised it's untrue. I have the baby clothes sorted, well they're here in a pile somewhere anyway, but I haven't even thought about what else we need. I firstly need to get ds into other ds's bedroom with him to make room for baby in our room, ooh still need to get crib.

And before baby gets here I have 3 birthdays in Oct to sort out, ds will be 1, ds who'll be 8 and other ds who'll be 6, busy month

Best get dp doing some overtime

He is currently away for the weekend at a rock festival and I'm very But he did ring this morning to tell me he woke up at 3am being sick with this same bug so do feel a bit sorry for him really.

Oooh seemed to have waffled on a bit much there so will go do something useful like washing now, I'll be back later

pedalmonster · 02/08/2009 18:07

Ah HA! Found you! my own fault though as I have not been online for weeks!! Easyeggs Now I know why you are called easy eggs - and your DP should be called Magic Sperms. Maybe you should move HIM out of your bedroom too - lol just joking! :-) I'm sure you will be fine, probably have lots of very eager helpers even if they are a little heavy handed - bless!
Southernbelle your spd sounds terrible - i hope you feel better - could you try reflexology or accupressure?
Loving feeling baby wriggle - its so reassuring, isn't it. :-)

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/08/2009 18:46

Easyeggs - how many October birthdays? thats most of your brood!

I need lots of luck. We have just moved DD's bed into our bedroom, and she is sleeping with us for a few days. We have the stairs to the new room in the loft being put in this week, and tomorrow they have to rip down the wall to her current bedroom and move it.

It means today that we have (with the help of a wonderful friend) moved all DDs toys into the front room, making use of the new fireplace space (we ripped that out too) to store somethings, it also meant then moving her bed into the hallway, all the storage in our bedroom (lots of books mainly but other crap too) into her bedroom for us to cover with tarp/dustsheets, then clean our bedroom, put her bed in, then clean and tidy everything. it has taken all day, and I have been ruthless again and got rid of another 3 binbags of rubbish.

So, the luck I need, it having DD sleeping right next to us. She is very excited and thinks this is it. She now thinks our room is her room (which it will be), and she has spent all afternoon bouncing from her bed to ours. Methinks a lack of sleeping is on the horizon , oh well, only the stairs to go in. Then painting the new room then new carpet, then moving our stuff up, the carpeting our/her new room, then organising it (aaaaaagh will it ever be done?!)

EasyEggs · 02/08/2009 19:07

Lol Pedal!! Yes that's why the name

This one is a magic baby, seemed to appear from nowhere despite attempts NOT to have anymore, ho hum a lovely surprise anyway

Tis ok, I have booked dp in now so now more happy accidents for us, hooray.

Pavlov - luckily dd gets her birthday all to herself in July and it's all the boys in Oct so one big party for all three of them. Much easier that way. Have them on 1st, 2nd and 19th!! There's just never anything on the tv over xmas and newyear

Good luck with the bedtimes, sounds like your dd is very excited!! Hopefully after a couple of nights the novelty will wear off and you'll all be able to get some sleep, fingers crossed x

Sounds exciting about having the house done though. We're getting our new bathroom done the week of the 17th and I can hardly contain myself lol!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/08/2009 19:21

I was excited about it all being done. Now I am just stressed about it all. I have so much to do before the baby arrives - paint the loft room, get it carpetted, then paint skirting in the main hallway and bedrooms, then get the carpets put in those rooms, then move it all, and organise it all, and buy baby stuff and all in 2 months, how on earth will we manage, given that DH is NOT a DIY man? hmm] .

I just want it done now.

ErikaMaye · 02/08/2009 21:07

So today went alright... Probably got on better with his Dad than I did with his Mum initially... Though admittedly, when I first met her it was discussing how to handle our "situation".

Ugh, my head is so messed up right now!!! Anyone else over reacting to everything? Right now am furious with my ex because I got DP to help him via message to fix his PC earlier in the week - FINALLY got a thankyou today, but it was just that; didn't ask how I was, how the baby's doing, he didn't even put a kiss at the end of the email, just his initals. So irrational, I know. Keep bursting into tears, and all those bad thoughts flood back.

HOWEVER - we are having a cheese night tonight! And going to see Harry Potter tomorrow

Hope you've all had a fab weekend.

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/08/2009 21:50

Boo from the seaside!!!!

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/08/2009 21:57

How is the weather becky? Hope you are having a good time!
I alas about to retire to my bed as I have boring old work tomorrow, having some walls knocked down, a bit of ceiling knocked through, that kind of thing! Oh, add to that, the fact that I am likely to get a ridiculous nights sleep with my wonderful DD snoring, figiting and talking in her sleep next to me!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/08/2009 21:58

Sorry erica, good to hear it all went ok with your DPs father. Hard thing to do isn't it?

ErikaMaye · 02/08/2009 22:18

Having fun, Becky?

Thanks Pavlov, yeah I was so terrified! It was worse because DP said to me quite casually the night before, "Don't worry about it, you're bright, too, he'll like you." I asked for an explanation, to be informed that he had an IQ of 170. I don't generally find intelligence intimidating, but still. Hows the DIY going? Hope you're not stressing out too much.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 02/08/2009 22:29

Thankfully, its not too DIY, I paid someone to do most of it! But I am stressing about the little things, like, what colour to paint the chimney breast, whether to get light or dark carpets (both will show the dirt), to get uplighters, or shades, or chandeliers in the hallway, bedroom and front room, do I get matching or is that too twee, do I get random or will it look awful? I hate this part of this kind of thing. The good thing about renting...you get what you are given and you make some minor decorative changes
