Hello

Well,so much to catch up on, I've been away 2 weeks and you've all talked so much! I've tried to catch up on everything, but sorry if i've missed anything important!

pav I think it was you who asked, we stayed for a week in a campsite just outside Exmouth in Devon and then we stayed in Dorset for a week.
We had a great time but over the last 2 weeks I've developed back ache that comes on mid afternoon, everyday and stays until morning, it is so so painful . I've also started with the leg cramps and heartburn! Oh and to top it off I've had 3 panic attacks while away (never had one before) they were really frightening!

erika Well done you on your bargain pram! Glad your meeting with dp's dad went well.
lemontop Glad your wedding went well Congratulations to you and your Dh.
Helips* Hope you enjoyed your spa day, I'm so
My back is killing me so going to go to bed, night all.

tigger32 · 13/08/2009 21:11

oops helips thats hope you enjoy your spa day (don't want to wish it away for you)

mrsbean78 · 13/08/2009 21:17

Hi,

can I join? I am due November 18th, in St. James' in Leeds and it's my first!

Only getting into this forum now!

Trikken · 13/08/2009 21:20

Erika 60 quid is a right bargain!!

Tamlin · 13/08/2009 21:42

Hiccups are all good, it's baby learning to swallow and breathe!

I remember with DS, I used to sit at my work desk trying not to giggle aloud at the feeling of him bouncing up and down hiccuping on top of my cervix... and then when he was born, he seemed almost like an alien being and I had a hard time connecting this tiny person with the entity which had been inside me (probably because they had to take him away to be suctioned and things right away). Then, in the middle of the first night, he got the hiccups, and he had the most comical look of surprise on his face - 'What's THIS noise, then?' I remember looking at him and thinking 'It IS you, you hiccuping fiend!'

tigger, I'm doing a lot of stretches on hands and knees - cat stretch and cow - for my back pain, and it seems to help a bit. I get it across my lower back, around my tailbone, and shafting down the backs of my legs. Not fun, but we haven't got much longer to go now...

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/08/2009 21:55

Katster the reason I've been working so hard today is so I can take them to our local drop-in tomorrow am so they can have some fun and play with other children. On Monday we're going to Charlbury in Oxfordshire where we used to live to meet up with all our old friends who I miss soooo much. It is 2 hours away so will be a whole day out. So the more work I do today then we can have fun on Friday and Monday That's what I tell the DSs anyway! They are so good and put up with so much me being freelance. I try to give them as much attention as I can and if they moan I stop working straight away (and do more in the evenings like now!).

Erika you are organized! I have got a moses basket from a friend second hand and that is all so far. This baby doesn't even have any possible names yet. We need to go car seat / buggy shopping soon - knowing us though it'll be when I am about to drop!

Tamlin lol at your DS being surprised by his hiccups!

Hello MrsBean!!!

scarlotti · 13/08/2009 22:05

welcome mrsbean

Went to see midwife today, all seems well and had my lucozade test, should get the results on Tuesday. Looks like I have the start of spd so trying to be careful and keep my knees together!

erika I have still to get that changing bag to you, and I also have an abundance of clothes so you're welcome to some of those too if you like?

ErikaMaye · 14/08/2009 00:14

Tigger Tips for panic attacks (Have had them for years, really feel for you, they're terrifying) - Carry a paper bag with you. If you don't have a paper bag, cupping your hands over your mouth is just as affective. - Rescue Remedy is good stuff! - Singing helps to regulate your breathing again. Nothing fancy, I tend to use nursery rhymes. - Remind yourself that you're NOT going to die, that its a chemical imbalance that's causing you to feel this way. Helps calm you down quicker. I hope that helps, and that you don't have to have suffer with them for long Big hugs. x

MrsBean Welcome!

Ta Trikken Am still petting it fondly. Because of the size of it it has to stay up in the front room for now, so I get to show it off to everyone and anyone - and I intend to! Its such a lovely buggy, too...

Becky we have a travel sysetm (carry cot / buggy / car seat) that we're trying to sell on the Friday Ad at the moment. Mum only wants to keep it for a week or so, though, so if we don't get any interest, you're welcome to it. No pressure if you don't

Scarlotti glad it went well with the MW Sorry to hear about the SPD though. That would be abolsutely fantastic - my email (can't remember if I gave it to you?? Am all over the place!) is [email protected] so just drop me a line. Thank you in advance so much

Is it bad if baby isn't hiccuping?? I haven't had a sensation like you've all described!

UGH stretch marks I've never had ones that HURT before. I'm mositurising at least twice a day but they still hurt - and every day I seem to have more!! Also my belly button is now disappearing, so much for keeping my bar in... I reckon its going to have to come out.

Guilty confession - I had a burger earlier AND IT WAS SO GOOD.

I keep panicking that I'm going to go into labour like NOW. I have told Bryn he's not allowed to make an appearence until Hallow'een at the earliest. Guess I'm going to spend the next thirteen weeks worrying - and then the next 18 years!!!

beepbeep · 14/08/2009 07:55

Morning all - haven't been on for a while, been SOO busy (but not sure what doing!?)

Not much to report here, this baby is such a wriggler, DS was really chilled out and hardly felt muuch movement, DD was the opposite. Maybe it's a girl?????

DH going ut with his mates for a curry tonight, they go to a place in Banbury ad whe he gets back, he stinks the room out with his wind!!! So bad I usally can't sleep, so suggested he stay at his mate's house tonight! So have day and night alone with kids, quite looking forward to an early night.

In process of trying to order car seat/footmuff & raincover - going for maxi cosi in Indian spice (thought colours were 'abit different') and still trying to convince DH I NEED a maclaren XT in black (look lovely IMO), but seen as they only take 1 child and we'll have3 I'm not sure I'll get it!! Holding out for it taking DC3 with DS on a buggy board, but seen as he isn't even crawling yet, it may be a while!!

I have full glucose tes at hospital next week, but can't remember what they said about times to stop eating / drinking. I know I have to be at hospital at 9am, maybe should give them a ring.

I've told work I plan on working until beginning of Nov (just under 3 weeks b4 due date). But I am on reduced hours already, so actually find it a break from the kids. For the other 2 I was signed off 8 wks b4 due date (tho both were early), but I was knackered and stressed at work so was best thing.

Welcome Mrsbean!

BeckyBendyLegs · 14/08/2009 08:25

Hello!

Erika DH wants to go car seat / buggy shopping - I think it is a man thing - like chosing a new car! That's the only bit he really likes!

I had a weird dream last night I thought I'd share with you. Back when I was a student I lived in Amsterdam for a year and was very well behaved only partaking in any wacky backy a few times, the odd space cake, etc (that bit is real, not the dream). I dreamt last night I went to Amsterdam on a hen party and everyone was eating this dodgey chocolate except me as i was pregnant and there was nothing I could eat! I was starving but this cafe only served food with special content! It was really frustrating! Everyone was looking at me as if I was some weirdo - I mean who goes to a space cake cafe when they are pregnant???

Beepbeep I don't blame you asking your DH to let off his smelly wind somewhere else!!! I'd be the same!

We're off to the local drop in this morning - the DSs are excited.

OP posts:
Ninjacat · 14/08/2009 08:49

Tigger
NHS Direct have a panic attack service where they will talk you through. Just ring the main number, tell them you are having an attack and someone will talk to you there and then.
I had really bad panic attacks for seemingly no reason back around christmas. They were truly terrifying, especially when you wake up in the night with one (very common apparently) so I do feel for you.
I concentrate on the out breath counting to five before inhaling. Distraction is also good but difficult.
My biggest fear is to have one whilst in labour. I have this (irrational I hope) fear that pain relief will bring one on (moi a control freak?)

I think I might have said too much, I am terribly normal really.

scarlotti · 14/08/2009 09:25

Erika I'll go through stuff this weekend (promise!) and drop you a line. We have all of DS' stuff and have also been given more bags from my DB so there's plenty to go around. It's all in pretty good condition too.

Anyone with SPD got any tips for what I should/shouldn't be doing? Mw just told me to be more ladylike when getting out of bed, in/out of car etc. Keeping my knees together and swinging my legs around. I am getting the odd twinge in my pelvis though and don't want it to get worse.

beepbeep I had the full glucose test with DS, am sure it's stop eating at midnight then no water from 8am but do check. I'd also suggest you take your own lunch with you for after, you'll be offered an nhs sandwich but they're dire!

Motivation for work here is at rock bottom. People are stalling with stuff which is making the work I do slow and frustrating (won't bore you with the details) - I might be up for a challenge normally but now I just think I can't be arsed! making me wonder how I'll get through the next 8 weeks

katster37 · 14/08/2009 10:08

When do you have the glucose test? Does everyone have it done? I don't remember anyone mentioning it to me before.

Beepbeep mine is a huge wriggler too! It's becoming almost uncomfortable - feels v strange sometimes!

BBL hope you have a lovely day today and Monday

Am also in car-seat mode, and about to order a maxicosi. Also need a raincover for the Quinny. Can you get raincovers for the pramtop bit?

Tigger hope you've not had another panic attack since you've been back.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 14/08/2009 10:26

Katster - you have the quinny? which one? We are getting one I think. We are getting the 6m+ one though as I will be using a sling, so the baby will be in a car seat from a-b then out of it.

I have heard the maxi cosi is one of the best, if it is with the isofix. I have the Priori for DD and I am very happy with it, even if it has gone from being a lovely pink to a
dirty pink with DD eating/spilling food (DH loves to give her bananas in the car [grrrr]).

I am just going to get black. Then I am custom it with footmuffs etc, can chop and change, and resale for the pushchair at least will be excellent.

lemontop · 14/08/2009 11:32

beepbeep I've got my GTT in 2 weeks and have been told no food from 8pm the night before. I'm going at 8.45 in the morning and it will take 2.5 hours. Midwife told me to take a sandwich.

Laugs · 14/08/2009 11:35

tigger I get panic attacks too, though haven't had a bad one since being pregnant (I think because with me a major trigger seems to be drinking too much the night before ). My worst one was last November - I ended up making DH ring 999 and I was carted off to A&E in an ambulance, only to be told there was nothing wrong with me. They didn't even acknowledge it was a panic attack though.

I've never had any medical advice on it, but I feel like my body is just overloaded by pent up energy/ adrenaline and find that going out and 'walking it off' really helps. Swimming is really good too, though not really instantaneous enough.

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh, I have to continue with the sad book as it is for work. I am still putting off the horror one I have to read too! Next week, I will be recovering with some nice happy stories.

Broodzilla · 14/08/2009 15:37

Deary me... this thread is mahoosive!
Can you imagine when we all have the babies (will we have time to chat still?) and we're home all day!

Right, deep breath...

Lemon Welcome back! Hope you've got your bags by now!

Scarlotti Happy belated anniversary, what a sweet DH you have!

Erika Glad you're feeling positive, and what with all the bargain hunting I'm not surprised! You made me giggle with the cereal story too. Hope your DP gets some help from his doctor.

Pavlov Fingers crossed all the building work will be a breeze from now on. You really don't need the extra stress!

Katster If you're not feeling better yet, I'd go and see if you can be tested to see what sort of foodpoisoning you got. You might need some medication to clear it up.

Tamlin Didn't realize that you're in Wilts! I'm outside Bath, but apparently Wilts PCT. Got told by the MW this week that their targets are to have people back home 3 hours after delivery if there are no complications. I'm trying not to think about it... THREE HOURS... I don't have family around to talk me off a ledge if I have a panic and think I can't change a nappy... although I suppose you've just got to get on with it.

Sleepless I was just wondering whether I dare confess that I'm doing laundry for the baby today. Glad I'm not the only one.

Becky Your mum must be mortified! Sounds like such a lovely thing to do, too. Hopefully you'll have better luck next week. I like Ursi's idea of sending her an official invite.

Laugs I really like Anna. I used to be an Au Pair for one, and I loved her to bits. She was feisty, but very sweet. at the book review! I couldn't have coped with that in a public place... I'm a cry-baby even when not pregnant!

Eeyore Your in-laws sound wonderful! It's nice as well for them to have time to bond with the baby, I'm still very close to my paternal Grandma, and she looked after me from when I was about 6 months when mum went to work.

Not much to report here I guess... I've had 6 separate appointments in the last 7 days so getting a bit fed up with being at the hospital. (One of those apts was completely wasted as well as the consultant didn't have the notes from cardiology...) Had my 28 week check up on Wednesday too, everything was fine apart from they found sugar in the urine again, so I had to go in the yesterday morning for the full GTT. Nothing to eat or drink from midnight had made me so dehydrated that it took two separate MWs six attempts to get blood out of me! My arms look like those of a heroin addict! In the end the only way they managed was to get a syringe and suck the blood out of the back of my hand... I'm not usually squeamish, but they ended up laying me down on the bed as I went all grey and sweaty... From that experience, to those of you (Lemon and beep beep?) having the test soon, I'd really recommend taking a book and staying in hospital for the 2 hours between the tests. I came home in between and was really scared to drive as I felt dreadful. Had the results just now and apparently the bloodsugar levels were spot on for both, so it turns out I'm just one of those freaky people whose kidneys leak sugar even though the bloodsugar levels are fine.

I'll start my Mat Leave at 38 weeks, but that's only because I work from home and am free to get up/nap whenever. I don't know that I'd want to work past 36 weeks if I had a "normal" job.

I've been naughty and had a haircut to celebrate my GTT results. I love the new shorter style, but the hairdresser uses Aveda products and put something lavendery in my hair and I've had to hit the paracetamol to get rid of a creeping migraine (the first one since being preggo!)

Oooh, one more thing... seems like all the neighbours have gosspied about my bump as I've had five different ones come up to me over the last few days. If one more person says "lookattheSIZEofit, can'tbelievehowbigitis" one more time I'll have to smack them. I snapped at the last one and said that the MW measured the fundal height two days ago and it's BANG ON what it should be. So there. I'll blame the hormones, but what the?? I also had a text from Auntie-In-Law to say Grandma-in-Law had commented on my bump as "in her day you had to hide your pregnancy". Am I being unreasonable?

Anyway, I'm off to hang tiny little clothes on the washing line.

tigger32 · 14/08/2009 15:54

Afternoon all and welcome to Mrsbean.
Thank you all so much for the tips on panic attacks, Dh was very good when I had them and encouraged me to breath out fully, still very frightening though, although reassuring to know how common they are. ninjacat thanks for tip on nhs direct, worth knowing if it ever happens while I'm on my own. laugs I know how you feel about ringing 999 for help, I was getting tempted with my first attack as I was so scared.
Tamlin My back pain is around my neck, all down my spine and across the top of my back and shoulders, I keep trying different stretches to help ease it, but not much luck!
beepbeep Do you live in Banbury? I love it there its such a beautiful town, that's where I want to move to! We stayed in lovely hotel there a couple of years ago, hmm can't remember the name, it was great though!
scarlotti glad all went well at the midwife and fingers crossed you'll get good news re your glucose test.

ursigurke · 14/08/2009 21:05

I hope all feeling bad during the last couple of days will soon feel better.
And that those with a big GTT, I hope the results will be fine. I've read that only every third or even fifth (sorry, forgot) with bad lucozade results will actually be diagnosed with gestional diabetes. So it is very likely that everything will be fine.
Katster, I will be 29 weeks tomorrow and I'm currently only working 4 or 5 hours a day. I'm generally quite fit and healthy but I could not imagine to work for another 2 months. I will probably only have one more regular week and then another one with mainly administration and work from home, and I'm really happy that the end is in sight. The last 10 days I really felt a big difference. I'm feeling fine but just get tired so much quicker. And if I can not sit down for 2 or 3 hours I feel like almost fainting.

Does anyone know or feel in which position the baby is? I think, mine changes sometimes but is mainly somehow diagonal (not that I have ever read about that as a typical position ). I rarely get kicks into my bladder, but sometimes I feel like I need to go to the loo every 5min so maybe the head is already down? And I can sometimes feel something probably too little for a head or bottom, maybe a feet, on the right side just under my ribs. And the biggest movements are usually big waves around the belly button.
But if I'm lying on my side she seems to do some stretches, well for her upwards, for me from side to side of my belly. I think she doesn't like that position, ignoring my lectures about how pregnant women are supposed to lie on their side

ErikaMaye · 14/08/2009 21:32

Ursi mine complains about me laying on my left, too. I get kicked black and blue!! I'm so much more comfortable on my right, but do try to spend as much time on my left as I can, though seems a bit silly if neither of us find it comfy!!

Trikken · 14/08/2009 21:39

am peed off now, after a fairly good day, had my mw appt, and had bloods done. didnt faint so was really pleased with myself so treated me, ds and dh to some sweeties each. i put my precious Mars Planets away as i wanted to have them later after ds was in ed, so just gone to get them, cant find them. Asked dh where they are and guilt is written all over his face. DH has EATEN them!!

He should know by now never eat a pregnant womans chocolate.

I will make him pay, ha! A big bag of moam strips should suffice.

ErikaMaye · 14/08/2009 21:44

Silly SILLY man!!!! Does he know how much DANGER he is now in???

Trikken · 14/08/2009 21:55

It was a VERY dangerous move, its a good thing i didnt actually catch him in the act of scoffing them, he'd have been lucky to escape with fingers still attached.

ErikaMaye · 14/08/2009 22:01

I have some M&Ms here, keeping them sneakily in my handbag so I don't have to share

Silly, silly, silly man... They never learn, do they??

BeckyBendyLegs · 14/08/2009 22:02

Hello all! Sitting here watching BB. DH is working late sigh! And he's going in the office on Sunday. I've been working hard too - just finished now. Ahhhh we are as bad as each other.

Trikken ooooh he needs to go on the naughty step for that! For 1 min for each year of his age plus 1.

I love Mars Planets. I could just eat some now

Well better go and put my lappy away.
