londonlottie I found it a struggle to have one that didn't drop down with ds but I had a c section then too and am short - that said I will be using it again this time - but in hindsight would have preferred a drop down one as mil advised at the time.
I know what you mean about getting it waxed all off but I tried last time I was pregnant and realised my pain threshold goes right down when pregnant and ended up crying with one leg partially waxed and couldn't continue - so had one bald leg.

I have gotten loads from ebay - the stuff I didn't already have that is.

iateallthecremeeggs I was trying it in the shower hence the bumping into bump issue.

So much to catch up on lol
Not having a brill weel both dc's have been unwell and taking it in turns to be up all night really don't know how I would cope looking after a newborn aswel.

As for buying things I've got my pram and thats it although (whispers) I have finished the Dc's xmas shopping

I can't believe how quick this pregnancy is going I will be 26 weeks tomorrow I finish work in 9 weeks can't wait.

lilacpink · 24/09/2009 20:46

Hi All
I agree with baby moniter. I still have DDs Angelcare moniter, which has a sensor should there be no moving for a period of time (e.g. no breathing detected). I know some people hate them and think it can make parents worry more, but for me it meant I didn't have to keep going in to check her -when she had passed the screaming all night phase and did sleep well - so I could sleep heavily as well. Other things I liked - babybath that fits over normal bath (so easy to fill with shower and easy to drain), Lindam bottle warmer (with separate egg-timer, safer than microwave), and Dr Brown's bottles (helped with colic).

I've got some good deals off ebay too by choosing the 'nearest' option and picking things up. One Mum gave me 2 big bags of clothes, and chucked in a padded baby mat and rocking seat for £10! Also, Blooming Marvellous give us 15% off, (on discounts page, just use MNET). Their stuff is pricey, but clothes are good quality and I think good for work - worth selling on ebay the other end!

crumpette · 24/09/2009 20:49

hello!

Firsttimer thank you so much for your input, also annie and everything who has helped

So, I am alive and still employed.. phew! I decided to go for the nuclear option and I sent a long detailed email regarding issues on cases and also a section with a list of, er, bitchy bordering on ridiculous comments I have had since I went back and salary problems. I figured it was best to lump it all together.. sent to practice manager and new line manager and had a very positive email back with a written apology but I think my other concerns will be addressed late next week when p.m. is back

am relieved I have survived, back-up plan is to be signed off and then take mat leave in october, but I think hope they will be nice to me now

lottie how cool will your DDs be!? The best birthday party every single year without fail
I'd say that you may be OK with the cot you bought if you can put the mattress high up when they are little. Otherwise you may struggle with your back and also with having a c-section. Have read it's really good for twins to co-sleep, so it's a good idea definitely. Maybe if you think you will struggle, keep on the lookout for a cot-bed with a drop side, as these are larger than a cot so will last longer with 2 babies

I second annie on getting a good sling, I had a babybjorn active carrier that I gave away before but I will be buying another one or the updated version as it was completely brilliant and so comfortable to wear, and DD loved it

annie wellington, uk?

Biccy · 24/09/2009 22:47

Hi all, just been catching up with all your news. Crumpette what a hideous time you've been having - am so glad you decided to send your email and have had a good response.

I am absolutely shattered due to our building work (it just seems to encroach on life so we never get to bed before 1 or 2am), so, it's all gone to pot here really... on Wednesday I got out of bed, went to clean my eyes with eye make up remover (always have panda eyes in the morning, despite taking makeup off at night!) and managed to use nail varnish remover instead.... even managed to wash both eyes with the stuff, thinking 'ooh, that's a bit stingy' before I noticed what I was doing... [eyes happily appear undamaged, but when dd asked me to clean her eyes this morning I have to say I nervously deferred to dp!]...

And out shopping the other day found myself fondling velour babygros.. then admonished myself for the foolish fondling of baby clothes for absolutey no good reason.... then remembered I had a really really good reason to fondle velour baby gros... I should really be getting some sleep now, but it's been so long since I read all the news...

Timette, my bump already seems to be getting to the 'in the way' stage too... I think I am big for my weeks (23) even though baby was average size at the 20 week scan. Maybe I just notice it being in the way more as I have dd this time around, which involves a lot more bending down/over? It also seems tighter and I 'feel' it more this time round, it also keeps changing shape! People actually comment, 'oh, you're a completely different shape this week'... I'm guessing it's just baby changing position that's causing the shape change.

I saw my MW at 16 weeks, and don't see her now until 28 weeks.

I haven't bought anything at all yet, but it's different I suppose if you've got all your stuff from previous baby/ies? I've got a mental list of things I will need to sort out.

somewhathorrified · 25/09/2009 10:58

Morning all. I think we've decided to get an amby nature nest, the single big splash out for this bub. But means I need to make a cat net to go over it, also decided to make a ring sling or 2...so am going to have to dig out the sewing machine . Started to gather the reusable nappies off ebay too.

liny · 25/09/2009 15:49

Hello all,
Talking about reusable nappies, I'm completely lost ;-)) so any advice from those who have used some before??
I don't have a drier so nothing that takes too long to dry....

I'm glad you said something crumpette, it migth also be worth talking to people like ACAS, they sometimes help in employer conflicts...or even seeing a sollicitor.

Anyway, I have booked my last trip to France, going middle of october (I'll be 28 weeks) so hope not to be too big by then...it is a ryanair flight so I might get stuck between seats ;-)) I did not want to miss my nephews birthday...
Hope you are all ok, my only trouble at the moment is waking up at night for the usual toilet trip and then finding it impossible to go back to sleep as the baby decides to do its daily gym....it is lovely but not when you want to sleeeepppp
have a good week-end!

alibobins · 25/09/2009 17:19

Well in for a busy weekend have begun the task of swapping the dc's rooms and dd and ds will be sharing tonight and tomorrow so not sure how much sleep they will get lol.

Dd is being really good about it all as she is now being moved into the smaller room ds doesn't seem bothered where he sleeps he just doesn't want to keep it purple

Hope you all have a good weekend

Mama2b5 · 26/09/2009 02:15

DJAmber · 26/09/2009 10:09

Hello ladies. I thought I might join the thread. Am due 1st Jan and a first timer.

sockmonkey · 26/09/2009 13:07

Hello DJAmber. Welcome

Mama2b5...Have fun shopping. Hope you aren't too disapointed in the lack of boys stuff compared to girls. It's always been a bugbear of mine.
Still the boys get better toys IMO

quirkychick · 26/09/2009 21:03

londonlottie we have a cotbed without drop down sides. We didn't actually use it when dd was very small so used it when the mattress was lower IYSWIM. On the lowest setting, once baby/babies can stand, it was really hard work to put dd in tbh. I should think on the top setting wouldn't be too bad. Also, if you take off one side you might need to reinforce it a little. Hope that helps/makes sense.

Welcome DJAmber.
