It just makes me so angry I really don't think I would cope in your situation work is my sanctury away from all the stresses in my life think it would really send me over the edge if work added to the stress

Mama2b5 · 18/09/2009 23:53

Hi all -
i have just discovered this site and just had to pop in and say hi! im expecting my 3rd child on the 27th jan and im loving being pregnant so much! this is a true gift from God for its been a long and rough road but we have finally made it! 21weeks and 2 days in and im just looking forwards to my scan next friday - want to know if its boy or another girl! : )

sockmonkey · 19/09/2009 07:17

Welcome Mama2b5 Hope your scan goes well next Friday. It's very exciting

somewhathorrified · 19/09/2009 10:29

Welcome mama. crumpette there are ways and means to minimise the amount of time you have to actually be in the office until you go on maternity leave! You just need to develop a thick skin for those times you have to go in. Think about certain legal obligations a company has (duty of care, bullying accusations and procedure, sick leave...etc, etc.)

CantThinkofFunnyName · 19/09/2009 14:17

Crumpette - I'm with somewhat on this one. Seriously think about how you can minimise your time in the office and what steps you are going to take to rectify the salary situation you mentioned previously and the awful situation you are now in. As a city law firm it is unbelievable that they have shown complete lack of understanding of LAW and the rights of the employee. We're all here for you to have a moan at but do try to tackle this now - you will lose out financially if you don't sort your money with them....

devotion · 19/09/2009 18:00

Mama2b5 - welcome.

I am also due my third child on 27th January

How old are your other two?

I have two girls age 6 and 3 and they have asked for another sister. Well, I'll see what I can do

Good luck with your scan next Friday I had my scan on Wednesday gone (21 weeks). It was amazing, I had a lovely sonographer (hada horrible one with 12 weeks scan). This lasy was so sweet, she spent ages explaining it all to us and took her time. I could stare at the screen for ages.

Wish so much I could have captured it on my camcorder but they would not let me. So many of my freinds were allowed which is a shame.

Ah well the pic will have to do.

I love being pregnant too and took quite awhile to persuade my partner to have a third.

Mums I dont even know come up to me and say, "Oh good, I'm so happy to see you are pregnant, you told me you really wanted another"... I must have gone on quite a bit about it.

I hope everyone is feeling good and having a lovely weekend.

I am still so happy to not feel sick anymore but just trying to get use to feeling so tired all the time - oh and my boobs started to leak yesterday. That was a shock!!!

Also I can not remember when pregnant with my girls when the line appeared on my belly. I swear I had it by now - the pigmentation line, is it nigra line? Thought that was a bit strange. I normally get a really dark one which lasts quite a few months after i give birth.

crumpette · 19/09/2009 18:55

welcome mama and congratulations!

devotion, I didn't get the linea nigra (?) in my first pregnancy so I don't think it matters if you do or don't get it, weird though if you don't, keep us updated maybe you got it later on in your other pregnancies?

alibobins/somewhat/cantthink thanks for your comments, sorry for venting on here, I'm thinking I would normally just shrug it off but it's really getting to me and they all know what has happened this year so it makes it particularly vicious and unnecessary, I have no idea what to do about work, some days I feel like walking into my GP and crying and begging them to sign me off for a month , I may just tell DP people in the office have swine flu and get his approval for finishing work earlier than planned I'm supposed to be a trainee solicitor ffs am wondering if I will ever qualify! I cannot see myself going back from maternity leave and it's another year and a half before I would qualify

argh

other news, my brain has been addled by pregnancy hormones, confirmed by the fact that I briefly considered 'apollo' as a respectable baby name !

FifiForgot · 19/09/2009 22:34

crumpette I agree with the others, perhaps you should think of a way to minimise your time in the office until you finish. Can you take any leave before your maternity leave starts? Because I'm taking a year off, I have to use all my leave beforehand (mat leave spans 2 leave years and I can't carry over) so I'm actually leaving work on 18 November (ish - depending on my C-section date). I can't wait to get out. Perhaps your GP will agree to sign you off, sometimes its the easiest option. I am astounded that your employers are being so awful especially considering that they are a Law Firm. Is there anyway that you can move your trainee-ship to another firm? Have you thought of posting on the "Employment Issues" board, there are some very knowledgeable HR people about on there who may be able to come up with some ideas about how to tackle this.

As for me, my In-Laws are here for the weekend. I haven't killed MiL yet, but its only a matter to time! DH and FiL are off to Goodwood tomorrow (at 6am!) so DD and I have to entertain her on our own. Who knows what I am going to do with her, I think I might pack her off for a walk with DD in the morning, just for some peace and quiet!

All these pregnancy hormones are a pain, I'm sure that I didn't find MiL so difficult before, but then again, maybe I did! Oh, and the people 3 doors down are having a party with a live band - very loud and I can't sleep. All in all, not having a great weekend!

somewhathorrified · 20/09/2009 10:47

Can I ask a couple of questions regarding the leaking boobs situation (that hasn't started for me yet, but has got me thinking). Does this mean I should have breastpads ready and waiting now? Is this leaking a lot, I mean should it be expressed/saved and frozen? Does it always happen b4 the birth?

Sorry for sounding stupid and naive, but I have no idea what to expect and it's one of the preggy things that isn't plastered over the info pages on the internet.

Dizzyclarebear · 20/09/2009 11:05

Crumpette - so sorry for you, they sound like shits. But, you are out of there soo - it's only another couple of months or so - do your job, and every time they are being bitchy, just think you'll have a whole year without having to talk to them soon. I would look for a new job post ML - you don't want to be going back there...

So, Maternity leave - how early are we looking at going off work? Is 2 weeks before due date rediculously late?

Also, leaky boobs - not started on me either, am intersted to know when we should start on that one...

devotion · 20/09/2009 11:19

somewhathorrified - this is my third pregnany and it never happened with my other two. I guess because I breasted my first two 8 and 10 mths that my boobs are getting geared up and practicing.

Its not happening all the time, in fact that was the only occasion. Since then everytime i feel them tingle I have a look. I have breastpads on guard now!

I also normally have no breasts (one of the joys of bf for me is getting boobies ) so i wear padded bras but i am going to buy some uppadded ones this week, maybe the pressure of them is not good for my boobs and thats why they leaked. They may also have leaked more but i did notice because the pads soaked it up

But I am not going to encourage it by expressing or anything like that, plus I am onloy 21 weeks so you cant freezeit for that lomg. Its not like colustrum (spelling?) which is thick, it was more watery with no colour so probably my bodys hormones kicking in and maybe spring cleaning the routes out for the big day

re leaky boobs - I stocked up on breastpads of the throw away and washable variety before giving birth last time and leaked about twice in 13 months of breastfeeding - at night, in bed when DS unexpectedly dropped a feed. So just to say it doesn't always happen.
This probably makes me sound odd but I can't wait to breastfeed again - I really enjoyed the experience and was quite sad when DS didn't want to feed anymore.

bethoo · 21/09/2009 10:19

mornign ladies, hope you are all well.
with reference to mw visits it is the same here no matter how many children, at the beginning they see you every 8 weeks then as youi get to the third trimester it is every 4 then every 2 then weekly when get to 38 week mark. so it is 10 week, 16, 24, 28,32,34,36,38,39,40,41 and 42. something like that. i have my glucose tolerance test next app as i had diabetes in first preg but not in second even though they were convinced i would so had gtt every month! this time they are leaving it til 28 weeks. i kept telling them it was becausei lived off a litre and a half of full at coke in the first pregnancy! that craving has returned but really wanting ot stop drinking it altogether as i dread to think what my insides are like and the long term effects it could have on my stomach. though have now discovered new cherry lucozade!!
i am still in underwire bras and my boobs are lovely and full unlike after bf!!! so making hte most of them! though they are tender but not leaking as yet.
i had the dark line in first preg (boy) and not in second (girl) and not tin this one yet so could be a connection or just wives tale? isnt it something ot do wiht hormones or where the muscle divides into two as i was alot bigger in the first, though i am getting pretty massive now ans still 15 weeks ot go!!!! getting scared how big i am going to be as only 5 foot 4!!!
well my old boxer is at hte vets having two tumours removed (at £700!!!) and hoping he pulls through as he is a ''geriatric'' for a boxer at he grand old age of 9!
crumpette you really should make a record of all the crap you are taking and believe me if that bitch had come out with a comment like that i swear i would have had not been able to contain the mouthful of wrath that would have spilled out of my gob!!

Fraochsmum · 21/09/2009 13:04

Bethoo you are so right - I am absolutely seething about what that cheeky, insensitive bitch said to you crumpette - I don't get easily rattled, but I think I would have to have been held back after that comment. And you definitely should be taking notes of all the snidey remarks, because they all count towards your 'case'.
Big hugs for your geriatric boxer
I had a busy weekend, up to Glasgow to get things for the house, step-BIL's 40th party, and a wedding show. Now my sister and husband and 2 gorgeous kids are here for a couple of days! They are taking us out for tea tonight then heading home, then my work colleague arrives for an overnight stay. Interviewing in Dunoon & Oban tomorrow, so another 12 hour day for me Have just had to alter my diary from having 2 1/2 days TOIL this week - at this rate they will be amongst my ML!
I have 2 p/t jobs and intend to finish one in December at some point and the other at the start of Jan - due on the 6th but we finish up for the holidays on 23rd Dec. I'm sure that will change though...

somewhathorrified · 21/09/2009 13:05

Ok, so boob leakage b4 birth is like clearing the pipes as it were? londonlottie I would have thought the milk would have to come in by the birth at the latest if it came a few days after what's the baby supposed to drink for those days? Or are you making a distinction betwen milk and collostrum (sorry spelling) stuff.

bethoo hope your doggy's ok, £700 isn't a bad price, I paid over £1k for my old cat for op and chemo. I'm also 5'4 and was wondering the same thing, I'm huge already and have put on about 1 1/2 st in weight, am already having to roll out of bed and make a timed landing. And OMG is anyone else getting preggy farts? I know tmi, but wow !

crumpette · 21/09/2009 13:27

hello

sitting at my desk depressed [sniff sniff]

I won't type the latest as I am on here from work so may be accessed? Good idea about keeping a log of things, I kept a record of the nasty comments when I first returned to my job after maternity leave/dd's illness etc, but stopped as it got quite long, may have to start that again! I don't want to seem really petty but it's just getting to me

Anyway, re the leaky boobs- no boob leakage for me until just before DD was born, leaked a tiny bit, then 3 days after her birth my boobs became pamela-anderson enormous and round, and very painful, like I had had some very large implants put in by a duff surgeon...

there followed much leakage for I think roughly one month, I got through quite a few boxes of disposable breast pads

Then the leakage stopped as I suppose my milk supply matched what she was drinking

And this time, no boob leakage just yet (oh and while Im on the subject the itching has stopped! )

somewhathorrified yes it's colostrum for the first few days and then you suddenly become gigantuous when your milk 'comes in', you then spend weeks or months feeling like a glorified udder

Nice

bethoo · 21/09/2009 13:35

crumpette you are being bullied, fair and square, there is no denying it. you have a bloody good case against them and even more shocking is that these people defend people like you in a court of law! it is disgusting.

still not heard from vets, but must be ok as otherwise they would have contacted me surely if he did not make it!

somewhathorrified i hope you had your cat insured, wow i cant believe how much vets charge! i have not got my two cats insured and they are almost 9, i just hope they do not suffer from common probs known to cats like thyroid and kidney problems! decided not to get my puppy insured as i pay about £30+ a month for my boxer and been paying that for 9 years and never claimed and i think that trying to get claims out of them is like getitng blood out of a stone, so i hope ot god i am wrong otherwise how am i goin to pay for childcare!! there is always small type you missed!!! but as long as he is ok is my main concern right now!
interesting debate on radio ref these children coming back from school as a different gender, bloody reception went so missing the rest!

somewhathorrified - hello the milk comes in a few days after usually day three. the colustrum is high in calories but the baby is kind of full when born which is natures way of giving you some time to get over labour and for your milk to come in so you have a good few days of practicing and getting the latch right before your boobies turn into jordans

its important to latch the baby on as soon as you can so you prefect the latch, baby knows what to do, bonding reasons (which if course you can do with bottle but best if mummy does it with some skin to skin too), for baby to receive the magical colustrum and to stimulate boobies to make the milk!

Crumpette - i joined late so dont know the whoel story but what i have read sounds horrible. Sounds like anniemac is up for giving you some advice - take care xxxxxxxxx

Mama2b5 · 21/09/2009 18:17

Hi all its a shame i couldnt get on here sooner my hubby was hoggy the computer!
Thanks for the warm welcome- devotion, crumpette, somewhathorrified and sockmonkey.

devotion my children are 15, and 8 both girls so you can now see why a boy is needed! myself and my hubby have 2 boys on special guardianship but with them being 10 and 4 its really not he same.
I have been having pains and have tried to ignore them but they started getting worse, so off i went to the gp and they sent me to mayday which was long but finally saw the doc and have been told i have SPD( symphysis pubis dysfunction) oh great i said Thanking God it was anything worse,i have to wear some belt like thing which should take the pressure of the area - the joys of motherhood! bring it on i say still loving being pregnant! : )

Mama2b5 · 21/09/2009 18:19

Crumpette - so sorry to read about your work issues that cant be nice with everything else you have to deal with! we are not in the dark ages this behaviour is totally out of order!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/09/2009 18:26

somewhat - pregnancy farts - OMG I have soooo been having these in a bad way!!! I tend to get bad constipation (TMI) so have been having at least one glass of prune juice a day and the smell is awful!!!

I'm now the joke of the family, much to my 2 young children's joy and disgust . Am having to perfect the art of moving away subtly just after popping in supermarkets etc. Truly, smell is obnoxious!!!

devotion · 21/09/2009 18:38

CantThinkofFunnyName - poor you but farts are funny or is that just me? Well other peoples smelly ones are not so funny!

Hope the prune juice does its jobs, for some weird reason I have the opposite problem when pregnant, the first three months i was doing three poos a day! Now its gone back to one and I can almost set my watch to it. Funny how our bodies do different things in pregnancy.

Mama2b5 - you have quite a gap, its going to be lovely like being a first time mummy again. My mums oldest child is 40 and youngest is 22, there are five of us and we are all close. I am 30 and closest to the oldest who is 40 so big gaps made no differene in our family.

Glad to hear your pains were nothing toooooo serious although SPD sounds painful. Maybe do a bit of reading on here to see how others with it cope, things to avoid etc. I find out more on here sometimes then I do from doctors

I've been on here since 2002 and love it. Changed my name so many times because DH is so nosey and I have to stay one step ahead of him.

When you say you have two boys on special guardianship, what does that mean - excuse my ignorance

x

Mama2b5 · 21/09/2009 18:49

Hi Devotion, the boys are not forstered but not adopted we have alot of right but they are still under the states also.
they are wonderful boys and they are soooo different from the girls they call us aunty but the younger one calls me mum sometimes which is fine! we allow them to see and speak to their mum and so its good for them to keep the relationship open even though she comes in and out every few months or so, we have so much love in our house its wonderful they are all excited about the baby!

This is a true gift because i lost my mum in March and she really wanted a granson so when i found out it was bitter sweet, but i know shes with me and it comforts me.

CTOFN- thats quite funny, but also not plesent our bodies while we are pregnant is so strange and so different!
