Congratulations Fraochsmum on your wedding dress.

My bellybutton didn't pop out last time, it just got bigger and then got smaller again. It isn't showing any signs yet of popping out this time either.

Sweet tooth isn't going away. Now I have had Ben & Jerry's chocolate macademia ice-cream. Oops! My excuse is I am still feeling sick in the mornings and I lost all my breakfast. (Not sure porridge with fruit is equal to Ben & Jerry's, though).

My dd is upset that she's having a sister not a brother. However, she keeps massaging my tummy to help the baby grow, aahhh...

devotion · 11/09/2009 20:40

Hello popped on and off of here but been trying to find which page has the most recent list. Dont want to mess it up and copy and paste the wrong one.

I am due 27th Jan. Not sure whether to be on due Jan/Feb list so I guess I may just hang about on both.

This is my third baby and I am just as excited as the first, in fact even more since I got into exploring hypnobirthing. I can not believe how different I feel about labour now, actually looking forward to it.

Anyone else going to do a hypnobirth?

Need to spend awhile reading through to find out about you all.

Take care x

Fraochsmum · 11/09/2009 21:25

Welcome devotion!
I too am interested in hypnobirthing, after having the virtues extolled by my dentist (he used hypnosis on his wife during labour years ago). I will be asking for more info at my 24 week check on Wednesday.
Thanks quirkychick, that's a shame you are still feeling sick now Our maternity dept offer accupuncture for people who are being sick longer than the 1st trimester. Could help perhaps?

somewhathorrified · 12/09/2009 09:13

Hi devotion. I did think hypnobirthing was a great idea until I found out how much they charge for the course...think I'll buy a book and dvd and see how it goes tbh.

lilacpink ofc there are difference between boys and girls, peeing while the nappy is off being the biggest I reckon, then there's how other people react to the different sexes. The pink/girly thing was a big thing for me as I hate it, yet peer pressure later on kind of makes it inevitable at some point.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 12/09/2009 13:17

Hello everyone. I have an exciting week ahead! One of the school mums is dropping around a cot later today and I'm off to B&Q to buy some wardrobe paint to spruce up/do-over nursery/playroom bedroom furniture AND I've been on to Mothercare online and ordered EVERYTHING else I need that don't have already - or rather, haven't been given already!! Being the third baby with a 7 yr difference, we had given away everything so really are starting again but do not want to splash out! Anyway, by this time next week the room should be completely ready for baby - whoopee! NOW I'm starting to get excited - tee hee...

quirkychick · 12/09/2009 20:20

Thanks Fraochsmum I am only sick after breakfast, really and then I'm ravenously hungry. I did mention it to the ob/gyn last week but he was only concerned if it hadn't improved at all.

I think I will have to pay cough up for acupuncture myself, though. I'm hoping it will clear up before my Glucose Tolerance Test or I will not be able to keep the lucozade down!

Good on you CantThinkofFunnyName. I said yes to everything that people offered. Most of my baby clothes, baby bath, towels etc. came from a friend so they have been through her 3 and my dd. Recycling! They are only need these things for such a short while.

devotion · 12/09/2009 23:27

somewhathorrified - i also was so shocked at how expensive the courses are especially when they bang on about how every mother should experience it, rich mother they mean

i have this book and a few different cd's. tej book is fantastic
www.amazon.co.uk/Hypnobirthing-Natural-Approach-Comfortable-Birthing/dp/0757302661/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF 8&s=books&qid=1252794378&sr=8-1

the other cd i have which is my favourite and has a great booklet inside is :
www.amazon.co.uk/Effective-Birth-Preparation-Hospital-Centre/dp/1905220502/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=book s&qid=1252794378&sr=8-3

somewhathorrified · 13/09/2009 15:19

cheers devotion will check them out. Amazing how the word 'natural' in front of anything makes people think they should charge 3 times as much!

dal21 · 13/09/2009 17:51

Hi everyone!!

Re. the Hypnobirthing; I did a weekend course when I was pregnant with DS1. My midwife raved about the difference she had seen in people who had delivered after doing hypnobirthing. I actually found it very useful, is all about empowering you throughout the delivery. And uses really strong visualisation techniques.
The relaxation CD worked a treat on DH...I lay there awake and he was snoring within minutes after we put it on every night.

I shelled out for it as wasnt doing any other classes (NCT etc) and it was very good.

I can tell you I was well chuffed when the words elective cs were floated by me.

Hope everyone is ok and had good weekends.

sockmonkey · 13/09/2009 20:58

Been for a nice family day out today. But, oh boy am I shattered. It's surprising how fast I get exhausted.
Trying to run with DS1 to the toilets was a bit of a 'mare. Got a stitch-y feeling in my bump, but DS1 wasn't sure if he'd make it without a rush!
Bit upset with DH, asked if I could get a lie in next weekend, but he said when I was working all week and earning money, then I could have a lie in. B*llocks to him

somewhathorrified · 14/09/2009 10:51

sockmonkey Ooh, your DH said that! If I were you he'd find he had no clean clothes etc.

quirkychick · 14/09/2009 11:22

Oh sockmonkey! Perhaps he should look after your DCs for the weekend if it's not work...

We have had 2 days out over the weekend and I know what you mean about shattered! I find I feel fine but then the tiredness hits me. Unfortunately, last night when we got in I still had dinner, dd's packed lunch, bath and bedtime to do. I got dp to help as I felt faint/tired and knew I couldn't make it. Bless him.

FlightofFancy · 14/09/2009 12:00

Hi all,
Had 20 week scan this morning (at 21+2) and all well! Was really good as sonographer gave a running commentary throughout of what was what and what she was doing. Got some more nice pics as well.

Frightening-good that baby is 1lb 1oz already (only another 14 extra lbs to account for!.

DH didn't want to know the sex, and it wasn't obviously (though I did spend quite a bit of time peering when she was checking the legs), so it's still a suprise. No bad thing, as our spare room is pale green and we're not planning to redecorate when it becomes the nursery!

For first time last night in the bath could see my tummy twitch when I got a strong kick - very exciting times! (though the belly button is on its way outwards by the looks of things!)

mammychildminder · 14/09/2009 14:25

hi, i am also due jan (20th), just found this thresad, lot of reading to do to catch up! nice to find people due same time as me. anyone suffering from really bad pelvic/leg pain? any cures/helps? doctor has been rubbish!

somewhathorrified · 14/09/2009 14:41

Welcome mammy.

I'm starting to get tired easily again too...good for mooching on MN not so good for the state of the house. Anyone know when the nesting/cleaning instinct is supposed to set in, think I need it now.

Dizzyclarebear · 14/09/2009 16:11

Hello all - just back from a last minute holiday - enjoying last trip where you focus on the quality of the spa for me and golf course for DH and not the kids club... And I know you all told me that being pregnant means I would burn more easily and yes I ignored you and yes I got nasty burn on my sholder. So did I miss anything exciting? (will read through a week of posts later)

hello mammy - snap, right hip/leg/general arse area aching like I've been doing some intensive stair climbing when all I've been doing is sat by a pool drinking mocktails (really nice although a shot or 2 of gin would have improved them).

somewhathorrified - my DH also keeps telling me I look great. I think they're all told to say nice things to stop hormonal woman crying at looking like we've all got beer guts...

Anyone know what I'm supposed to be doing now at 23 wks? Should I be booking in to see midwife again or will they call me? (so far, it's been them contacting me to schedule various things, not sure when I should actually start organising myself)

Hi mammy and welcome - sorry can't help with the pain - but maybe if you ask on the pregnancy board you will find someone more knoweldgable.

Well just had a scan at 24 ish weeks he is still a he - . And 500grams and about 26 cm or so. So all good. DH was being a bit vague after we left the doctors office and when questioned admitted the scan made him feel dizzy and queasy - he's so macho - lol .

The good news is I have been scoffing chocolate cake all weekend - so yummy.

maygirl · 14/09/2009 16:17

Hi all,

I have the same hypnobirthing book as Devotion, and the Effective Birth preparation CD, home birth version from last time. I didn't end up having the birth I had planned, but I felt the preparation helped me remain surprisingly calm during over a week of stop/start labour at home, 10 hours of induction, ending in emergency CS at 15 days overdue. I'm just starting to listen to the CD again now, I could fall asleep to it last time, but dh got pretty sick of the music!

I had my appointment with the senior midwife a couple of weeks ago to go over the birth, and plan for this baby's arrival. It was really sad, (used alot of her tissues), but also really interesting- they go into alot of detail in your labour notes, and I'm glad I did it as feel alot better now. The midwife was lovely and has emailed me details of the meeting, and the birth plan, which she has also circulated to my consultant.

We're just back from holiday in USA. Was great, and 7 hr flight whilst pregnant was fine, but was hit alot harder than usual by jet-lag, have just had to sleep and sleep since getting home. Luckily DS1 (3) has slept lots too

We went to Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory in Vermont, there was a disproportionate number of pregnant ladies there!!!

Also had 20 week scan the day we got back. All looks good, baby has very very long legs!! Funny as I'm under 5ft. We were the last appointment so the sonographer spent ages chatting and gave us lots of extra pictures which was nice.
Hope everyone has a good week

maygirl · 14/09/2009 16:25

Here we have to book an appointment with GP for 25 weeks ourselves, then midwife at 28 weeks Dizzyclarebear. Did you find your bump popped out more on holiday with all the relaxing!!!? Think I'm going to get alot of comments returning to work tomorrow, already had a woman at aqua class feign fainting at my size on saturday!

sazlocks · 14/09/2009 19:50

evening all - back from fantastic holibobs and trying to catch up on what I have missed.
londonlottie your pics are very lovely
Had appt with midwife today - all fine. Luckily feeling really well and no probs so it was a quick appointment. I wish I had tried harder to lose some weight before getting pregnant though as I am feeling heavy and cumbersome already and I am only 21 ish weeks !
We did a hypnobirthing course last time and I can't recommend it highly enough. I bought the book on amazon as well - Marie Mongon (?) who developed the method and that was really useful. We are planning to have a refresh course this time as well. It was a really great way to get my DH doing something practical and helped him to be very involved in the birth and I found I was really calm throughout even when I ended up having a c section.

Gosh, just trying to catch up! Been very busy in RL so not much time for MNing...

Had 20 week scan last week, and all seems to be present and correct, measurements just a teeny bit over average, and got lots of (free) pictures. Was undecided until the last minute about whether to find out the baby's sex, but my gut feeling when I was on the couch was 'no', so, a mystery it remains for us, and I haven't regretted it. DD was a bit non-plussed, don't think she could relate what she was seeing to her idea of a baby at all... Baby was breech, so now I'm getting paranoid that he won't turn round and my home birth will be out the window, again...

For those of you with the hip/leg/buttock pain, I had this from 8 weeks, and according to my chiropracter it's to do with a twisted sacrum and unstable pelvis. It has cost me quite a bit, but I would really recommend a chiropracter who knows about pregnancy, as apparently this problem can affect the baby's position, and she has sorted my pain out. I was at the point of yelping every time I moved, but I barely remember the problem now - more worried by my numb hands! (Cor it's hard trying to do bunches in the hair of a wriggly 3 year old when your hands are like lumps... and I burned myself the other day because I didn't realise I'd picked up a backing tray straight fro the oven with my bare hands. Ho hum).

Have also had very itchy boobs, and been very emotional and a bit ratty.

Right, better get back to work!

CantThinkofFunnyName · 15/09/2009 14:25

I went to my first ever PTA meeting last night and found myself volunteering to organise the Christmas fete - which I decided should be much more winter wonderland. Now wondering why on earth I offered to do that when I really want to nest!!!

sockmonkey · 15/09/2009 16:59

CantThink - you must be mad, but good luck with organising that!

Partyofsixsoontobeseven · 15/09/2009 21:36

Hi all

not been on for a while (busted computer) so trying to catch up with everyones news - hope you are all well or as well as can be with all the aches and pains. i'm 22wks now and have had achy left leg from about 6wks, can only have paracetomol which is rubbish and does nothing for it. i might ask for a physio referral at my next appointment with mw on Oct.

does anyone feel that the more babies you have the less anyone seems bothered. i've not seen mw sice 16wks and don't see her again until 25wks so not had wee tested or BP taken in all that time. luckily i can test both at work (nurse) but what about others who can't??

is it just me having a moan at mo, seem to be getting pee'd off at least little thing. have threw a wobbley tonight because i had to drop dc2 at a party and didn't get home until 6 with dc 3 & 4, when we did friend waiting outside to play, so dh got an earful.
dc 1 turned up at 8pm grunted and asked whats for tea grrrrr teenagers eh!!

sorry about the rant, AND i have very itchy boobs as well.
