As we all talk so fast the last thread is nearly full so thought I would start us off on a new one

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lilacpink · 09/09/2009 22:18

Advantages I've been told
Girls - most 'better' behaved as children
Boys - more loving to Mum

Disadvantages
Girls - nightmare as teenagers (my friends and I would back this one up!)
Boys - physically demanding, less emotional connection as teenagers

Anyone else have comments to throw in?

I'm happy to be having one of each, but as I have a v good relationship with my sister did have a pang of sadness for my DD that my DCs will be different. They may be as close, but I do believe that boys and girls are 'wired' differently from 6weeks in womb when hormones change, so it won't be exactly the same as a sisterly bond.

ooh they are expanding- weirdly they didn't with DD, only got massive afterwards when I was bfing- now they are quite big already- how strange! It's pretty annoying whatever is going on down there

somewhathorrified · 10/09/2009 12:49

crumpette you may find your bra isn't helping either...get home remove bra and have a damn good scratch, oh and don't forget to moisturize

lilacpink I have to agree with anniemac, I think everyone's an individual. There are traits that are gender associated, but certainly not specific. It's a bit of a dodgy subject as a boy who exhihibits more female associated traits can be labelled too easily and vice versa, but at the end of the day those traits mean nothing.

timmette · 10/09/2009 13:18

Hi Crumpette mine were really huge before ds was born I went up 3 sizes at least and then stopped counting - but it hasn't happened this time .
Am feeling very sorry for my self having problems with family, and with some idiot on ebay I sold something too, and then stuck my head into AIBU - not a place to go if you are feeling a bit sensitive . All I want is a huge chocolate cake - and clearly am not getting that .
My god the self pity just radiates from me today.

sockmonkey · 10/09/2009 14:07

Crumpette. I got massively itchy boobs with DS1. I would disapear to do "filing" so I could have a good scratch.
Word of warning though - I ended up with lots of stretch marks on my norks. I think the itchy-ness was down to them growing (went from a b cup to dd) & I should have moisturised not scratched.
timmette Hope things sort thmselves out for you. Sending hugs and chocolate cake x

ampster · 10/09/2009 19:21

had the scan today and it's a girl! we already have a boy so am super happy, especially as DP said he would leave me if it was another boy. he was joking. i think.

somewhathorrified · 10/09/2009 19:28

timette sometimes you just have to go buy that chocolate cake, lock yourself away with a bad film and indulge. I find it does wonders for the spirit.

Grats ampster.

quirkychick · 10/09/2009 20:17

Mmmm crumpette mozzarella...

I have started having a sweet tooth today. Not a good thing when up until now I have wanted only savoury stuff. My parents are here and cooking lots of lovely stuff every night including puddings which up until now I've not been having.

I too have had itchy boobs. I keep expecting there to be something I can see which is making them itchy. But no, they are just itchy and growing. Nor helped by extra helpings of custard .

I am obviously pg as today 2 people made way for me on the pavement. There was actually room for 3 of me. I'm not that big yet!

Fraochsmum · 10/09/2009 20:30

Aw timette, just get yourself one - eat it in the bath with some candles on and the world will be a better place!
Lovely news ampster.
I was also worried about my boob increase, or I should say the potential of stretch marks. Mine went from a B to an E/FF within a matter of weeks, certainly within the 1st trimester. Am I wrongly assuming that because there are no marks on them now that they won't appear?
Have to say that I'm quite delighted actually!

Hi everyone thanks for all the nice thoughts will be getting my cake tomorrow - dh has promised - it's a bit of a trek to get one here.
I felt really ill yesterday - very random I guess it made me a bit over sensitive.
anniemac thanks I normally am pretty thick skinned thank god it wasn't my post I just replied on one - and then went running - lol.I'm almost 4 weeks ahead of you heading towards 24 weeks and really felling the strain of having a bump now - although I am not hobbling I may be waddling like a duck - very attractive .

Fraochsmum · 11/09/2009 10:02

I feel your pain anniemac...I always have had a 'thing' about my belly button and since the first early weeks I have had a varicose(sp) vein on it! The doctor said I obviously had some connective tissue from my birth, and it would get more prominent as my pg developed. Really eeughhh!
I have also 'bloomed' in the last couple of weeks, which is really nice actually because DP loves it and people are starting to remember that I am in the family way!
Timmette, from what I read most people were in support of your view - my thoughts are with you and yours x

bethoo · 11/09/2009 10:03

it seems my heathly diet has gone outhte window as i ate a while packet of viscounts this morning! and on an evening i tuck into a bag of minstrels, not hte 33g size either! thank heavens i walk at elast 3 miles a day! though my thighs are defo getitng bigger but then aparantly isnt that a sign of a good heart according tp hte media these days!!!
congrats Amps on a girl, now you have a pigeon pair as it is called though news to me as only foudn out several months ago that is the term they use.
well we have agreed decided on a name and it will be Skye Louise, though that is in hte running i may end up changing my mind but doubtful now. have yet to get my parents opinion. when i told my mum the middle name of my dd she replied ''we've never had a Kate in the family!'' so i dont know whether we have to recycle names in our family or ne permitted to venture out into the unused names realm!
hope everyoen else is fine, i too am a sufferer of itchy boob syndrome and isnt it so relieving to have a good scratch! as soon as my bra comes off and my boobs flop to my waist i have a good scratch in a very unladylike fashion!

Morning all. Geting worried as DH said the pregnancy look suits me. Turns out he likes the beached whale look

What's this about popping belly buttons? Haven't heard about this! I have a deep inny (erm tmi?) it's not going to jump out is it?

crumpette · 11/09/2009 11:17

somewhathorrified do not fear, my inny belly button never popped in my last pregnancy and hasn't altered this time either (er..yet) lots of people do have belly buttons that pop out but they go back again afterwards

what I did have last time though was the ability to see inside my belly button and discover some fluff or something that must have been there since I was about a month old, needless to say I got it out...

very weird

lottie you can get bellybutton shield things that hide your popped bellybutton under clingy clothes. Sad that I know that...hmm..

Am SO exhausted today, no idea why, perhaps from all the boob scratching they were red yesterday from me itching them! No itches anywhere else, just there. Attractive!

crumpette · 11/09/2009 11:19

OK I'd better go and do some work and stop posting about my belly button contents online.. this may be being read by my entire IT department.. ehem

alfiesmadmother · 11/09/2009 14:02

ha, my belly button sort of popped out and DH used to say it was a trumpet-great! I am also getting itchy boobs/nipples-me thinks they need fresh air !

My back is sloe feeling the stain-heaven knows how I will feel in a couple of months! Does anyone else feel very emotional? I just want to cry at everything and have generally lost my self confidence. I am also finding myself very irritable and annoyed at things/people. Anything that could help???????

FifiForgot · 11/09/2009 14:33

Afternoon all.

My belly button stayed safely tucked away last time and is showing no sign of "popping" this time - yet! Boobs are a bit itchy though, I think it must be something to do with growing, but I don't seem to have expanded as much this time, much to DH's disappointment!!

crumpette I am also totally shattered - I have been all the way through this time. I am having to sleep every afternoon just to get through DD's bedtime.

quirkychick I'm another one who has suddenly developed a sweet tooth. Although, wheat crunchies still hit the spot more than chocolate!

I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday. I'm a bit worried, for no real reason, just pregnant hormones! DD is convinced that "Mummy has my baby sister in her tummy", so we'll be finding out, if only to prepare her for a little brother!

Have a good weekend end all

timmette · 11/09/2009 14:43

Thanks Fraochsmum .
And on the subject of belly buttons - ds thinks if he talks into it the baby will hear him - like a telephone - lol.

lilacpink · 11/09/2009 17:20

Hi Annie and Somewhat, I think my post may have sounded negative while I was only referring to things I've been told by friends and family in general. I know that everyone is an individual (have enough individuals in my family to appreciate) and I definitely won't be labelling my son or having specific expectations on him (he will inherit lots of pink toys from big sis ). But I do think there are general 'trends' with boys and girls (men and women), after all, why would people want to know gender and why would people on here have preference if not?

Fraochsmum · 11/09/2009 17:39

Yippeeee, just won the wedding dress I wanted on Ebay! Only 9 weeks to go and just about everything left to organise...
