Hi everyone:

Sorry I've not been around - DH is still on paternity leave and my parents are still here, so I'm very busy keeping everyone entertained and taking care of T!

Actually it's all going very well, he's feeing great and sleeping so well at night. Fingers crossed it continues.

First time I've gottne to pop in since we've gotten home from the hospital, but I've just noticed Kooky has been on - I believe you're next in line for Sorky's DVD. If you email me at flabt at hotmail dot com, I'll post it to you!

Hope everyone is well. Hopefully will catch up a bit better next week.

tinkisback · 07/08/2009 17:33

hi

lbot - great to hear from you
sounds like you are all doing great
take carex

Kayzr · 07/08/2009 19:32

LBOT, glad to hear it is going well.

Lightening, good luck for your theory test. You'll have to let me know how hard it is. I'm mainly worried about the hazard perception. When I have practiced it it will sometimes say I click too early.

glaskham · 07/08/2009 19:37

Tink- we're gonna get DS's and DD1's school/nursery shoes in the last week before they go back- knowing my luck if i took them any earlier they'd not fit by time they were starting. We're going to the clarks outlet as they always have a nice selection, and much less than the normal stores!!

Starshinetiger · 07/08/2009 20:29

Kooky - good to see you back on. Have you checked that DD's back teeth are not coming through? Have heard it so commonly (us included) that toddlers start waking in night and parents think - "what's going on, where did my good sleeper go?" why are they doing this? Then notice that back teeth are cutting. With DS, his were nearly half through before we realised - he wasn't telling us he was in pain, just waking up and wanting us. Might be worth a check.

Tink - clothes sound lovely.

Kooky - have you tried NCT Nearly New Sales - my friend's DDs are always dressed gorgeously and I asked her where she shops - she said NCT nearly new sales, supermarkets, primark and matalan - am heading off in those directions for DD as she grows (DS luckily has a wardrobe full of hand-me-downs from my cousin).

Right, both were in bed by 7.30 this evening, so I'm off to bed too... ready for my feeding during the night and DD's regular 5-5.30am waking time at the mo!

tinkisback · 08/08/2009 08:34

morning

have decided to buy dd1s scool shoes a week today

Kayzr · 09/08/2009 07:12

Morning,

I had a busy day yesterday. About 3 ish we went to get some chicken for dinner. We saw MIL and we ended up going there for a couple of hours. As my Mum lives opposite DS1 started screaming to go and say hello. So we went in there and he started helping himself to their dinner. So we ended up there until 8. Plus it is Traction Engine weekend so it was mayhem getting home.

SIL has told DH that I have to be back at work for 16 weeks before I get myself pregnant again or I won't get mat leave. I'm not sure how I got myself pregnant the first 2 times. I am sure I remember DH being there. I can't see how it is any of her business anyway but the currant plan is to wait until September/October 2010.

Hope you are all well.

tinkisback · 09/08/2009 09:06

hi kay

sounds like you had a busy day yest

dh has taken dd1 to her swimming lesson

we are going out fro lunch

essenceofSES · 09/08/2009 11:37

Hi! Been quiet on here for the last few days.

It's been nice and sunny here yesterday and today.

DS is 3 months today! He seems to have turned that magical 3 month corner too where he's starting to play with some of his toys (just reaching, touching, shoving in mouth, etc ) and is lovely and smiley and chatty. When he does start to grizzle / cry, most of the time it's clear why and we can resolve it!

Am really enjoying this mummy lark at the moment. The only times I start to get a bit fed up is if I have a day staying at home doing nothing so I'm trying to get out every day even if it's just popping into town.

LBOT - sounds like you and T are doing v well. Hope your visitors aren't too demanding and your DH is settling into fatherhood well too.

Gruff - hope you can make the 20th. Let us know when you're back from Scotland.

Kay - LOL at DS2 saying doughnut! Not a bad early word

tink - enjoy lunch

Hi everyone else! Sorry for not doing a proper catch up but didn't want to leave posting any longer!!

Hello

Just a quick one to say that we have a virus on the 'puter [grrrrrr] have stolen DS1's for a minute to write this but he is breathing down my neck already!

DH is trying to sort it out, he's quite good with PC's so expect it won't be long, though he's saying there isn't much more he can try before he's going to have to give up and just reboot the hard drive, which will take a while!

Oh and, I passed my theory Kay, don't panic too much about the HP, they are fairly obvious, just don't do what I did, one of the clips, it drove past a place name sign, was trying to work out what it said, and completely missed the sheep that wandered into the road! Was one of the most obvious hazards as well, if the people there see the answers they must have thought I was a right numpty! Serves me right for being so nosy!!

Right, had best go and top my glass up Don't know when I'll be back, but back I will be no doubt! See you all soon xxx

sorky · 09/08/2009 20:10

HI Tink Dd2 is 6 months next week and it's a fab age. I love it now she can sit up by herself for a few minutes and entertain herself

I don't like the big button dress at all, it looks like seventies curtain fabric.

The pointelle marl tee is lovely and I would happily buy that.

The tights are outrageously expensive and a rip off! Somewhere will do tights which match just as well much more cheaply I'm sure of it.

The knitted dress is beautiful and I'll be getting that for Dd1 this winter. Note, it's got cashmere in it, so I'll likely be handwashing that, grr!

I'm not too taken with the velour spotty dress, it looks a bit shapeless and makes me think of those dress/towels you get for the beach.

Actually Next have got 2 gorgeous knitted dresses in for Winter and they are much more reasonably priced, plus they will happily be tossed in the washer

sorky · 09/08/2009 20:11

Well done on the theory test NJ

essenceofSES · 09/08/2009 20:38

Just popped on again as I think Kay is meeting up with Diege tomorrow. Kay - if you read this before, hope you have a good time and that the Diege family are enjoying their hols

Nat - well done on your theory! Hope your DH sorts out the virus on your computer for you.

Tink - I'm sure you could be the MN personal shopper!! Do you lurk much on the style threads?

Hello Sorky & anyone else lurking

tinkisback · 09/08/2009 21:52

hi

i dont lurk on style threads

nite nitex

Kayzr · 09/08/2009 21:55

Well done Nat!!!! LOL about missing the sheep!

I am meeting Diege tomorrow. I am really looking forward to it. I am trying to sort out pushchairs. I think I'll take the buggy for DS2 and DS1 can walk. Will also take sling for DS2 on the bus just incase it is busy. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

I can not believe that DS2 is 8 months on Wednesday. It has gone so fast!!

Hope everyone is ok.

tinkisback · 10/08/2009 09:07

morning

have a great time kay will look 4ward 2 pics

well done lighting

Kayzr · 10/08/2009 09:10

There has been a change of plan. DS1 is sick. We've had it from both ends and he has been through 5 nappies since he got up at 7. I am so annoyed, but it's not his fault. Not been able to get hold of Diege though as her DH's phone is off. Hoping to meet her tomorrow as DH is off so if DS1 is still ill I can just go with DS2. Poor old DS1 is having a tantrum because he wants to go to the seaside.

bumpsnowjustplump · 10/08/2009 09:12

Had the night from hell last night and so i am doing nothing today except sitting on my lardy bum....... Both children have summer colds and coughs and both are grumpy because of their teeth...

Owen has been having two solid feeds a day (just fruit and veg) and this morning i tried him with some cereal, thinking that he may need to go up a stage. It is a plum one that is gluton and milk free. I ended up covered in it as he just spat it out so dont think he is ready for 3 solid meals a day yet...

apart from the colds we are all well. Went to a bbq on sat and I ended up wiht a black eye. DP batted a wasp awaay from Jessica but didn't realise I was sitting right behind him so he hit me, bloody idiot. But DS got him back for me, Owen had a poo that escaped his nappy. DP had a sniff without looking and ended up with poo all over his nose and lips.... pmsl i still keep laughing about the look on his face.... it was a bit like this but with a corma nose and lips....

DS is 6 months on the 21st. He can sit up in his chair and when supported but if he is unsuported he does a good impresion of a weeble (wobbling around before eventually hitting the floor, usually face first...) When can they sit unaided for longer. He is however a good breakdancer and does the caterpillar everytime we put him down... Only backwards at the moment.

tinkisback · 10/08/2009 09:23

hi

on no kay poor ds1 get well soon

bumps - sorry for bad night and colds!!

bracken is 6 and a half mnths will be 7 mnths on the 19 of this mnth
she wobbles quite alot it varies with sitting i guess!! my dd1 didnt sit unaided till 9 mnths old was tiny for age and just rolled everywhere hated sitting!!
bracken is getting stronger sitting up can just sit unaided for a min is fine in highchaircaterpillar sounds fun bracken always rolls can do back to front then gets stuck!!

idreamofbeanie · 10/08/2009 09:31

Kayz - poor DS1 . Hope he feels better soon and doesn't miss his trip to the seaside. Have a good time and say hi to Diege for us.

Lightening - congrats on passing the theory but LOL at the poor sheep!

Morning Tink, Sorky, Ses and any other lurkers.

Well we had our NCT course this weekend and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. It was quite disorganised so we didn't cover much (no post-natal stuff which people had specifically asked her to talk about) and just lots of telling us to refuse any inductions/interventions/pain relief without giving us any information to help us decide whether we want them or not. The breastfeeding session was a little better but again lots of rubbish like if you don't co-sleep you are likely not to be able to breastfeed and if you introduce a bottle of expressed milk at any stage it is likely to ruin your baby's latch and your supply (actually she implied that any decent mother wouldn't ever want anyone else to feed her baby !).

On the plus side we met some lovely people we hope to meet up with again soon. I think I'm lucky I'd done some reading so ignored the bits I didn't agree with and we have a fab midwife who came over on Sunday afternoon to fill in my homebirth forms and answered all the questions we had after the course. The funniest part of the weekend was DP, who has been living in denial really, realising the baby could arrive as soon as 4 weeks from now and suddenly making long lists of 'what we need' and 'jobs to do'. Everything from what snacks I want in labour to choosing guardians and making a will . Luckily a cold beer calmed him down.

idreamofbeanie · 10/08/2009 09:35

Sorry Tink and Bump - x-posted.

LOL at DSs revenge but poor you with black eye. Caterpillar sounds hilarious .

Tink - have you decided which dresses to go for?
