Congrats wilkos and welcome!

Blame the pregnancy brain for not copying the latest list

Horsiemummy · 05/07/2009 15:26

Waaaaaa!

Girls please will someone talk me out of eating EVERYTHING in the house!!!

never cared about my weight (was in denial) with DS1 but since have lost 3stone and am a 12 for the first time ever. but now these pesky hormones have got me like a madwoman all i want to do is eat!!!

feel guilty when im stuffing coz i know the clothes are getting tighter but when trying to be good im sooooo grumpy and hungry its unreal!

im hoping my MS will kick in soon so i dont want to eat....

i feel so guilty as i should be embracing this pregnancy but im soo scared of putting heaps of weight on as i was soooo hard to get it off. and looking through the isabella oliver catologue makes me want to sob! - how do those girls look so fab?

ok moan over, just needed a little rant - sorry

A.xx

PotPourri · 05/07/2009 19:44

Hi Horsiemum. Have you tried getting healthy food in - I had oads of cherries today - they were yum! And I had a bag of chocolates, but by the time I had the cherries, I wasn't so bothered about the chocolate. Must admit, most things turn my stomach when I think about eating them (especially chocolate actually - and I am a full on chocoholic!) - but I need to eat pretty much constantly or I will throw up, so I am constantly raiding the cupboards for stuff I can bear to eat. Went on a plan journey this week to London and it was soooo hot (feel sorry for all you girls down there!) and I have been sooooo ill since I got back. I think it is dehydration. It is sheer willpower that I am not literally sick all day long.

Welcome everyone new, and hope we all get through to the blooming stage without event!

slackrunner · 05/07/2009 19:49

Hello - can I join in please?

I'm due on 14th March (I think), and it will be #2 for us.

I've just slept for two hours this arvo - last pregnancy I didn't get sick in the first trimester; just unfeasibly tired. This one looks like it'll be the same. Not great seeing as my boss goes on hols for 3 weeks on Friday and I'm covering for him lol!

chubbymummy · 05/07/2009 20:04

The eating thing is a bugger isn't it! I'm really worried about weight gain in this pregnancy as I piled on 4 1/2 stone with ds (I was so hungry I felt like if I didn't eat I would die!!!!!). I still haven't lost the weight from then and that was 4 years ago. If I put on the same again I won't fit through doorways and you'll be able to roll me down hills.

Evening ladies

Welcome to all the new ladies - congrats on your BFPs! It's great to see the list growing longer

Sorry to hear about those suffering with MS . I've had waves of it (in the evening) but no actual vomiting so am hoping it doesn't get any worse.

Horsie god, am also eating almost everything in sight . Constant snacking seems to help me feel better and have been trying to stick to healthy snacks but it's hard...

TMI but has anyone else been suffering from constipation? I've felt quite bad with it and have resorted to prune juice. Tastes iffy but seems to be working!

Also did my final conception indicator test this morning and was relieved that it had gone up to 3+ weeks (last tested Tues afternoon when it was 2-3 weeks). I'm 5+5 and just waiting for my early scan as still not feeling "pregnant" enough!

Now off to catch up on everyone's messages properly .

donttrythisathome · 05/07/2009 22:42

Congrats on the BFPs.

Presume 5 + 5 means 5 weeks 5 days, but how do you find out what you are? Just count from the first date of your last period?

I am really really irritable at the moment, which I am putting down to "symptoms". DP asked how do I explain away the last 4 years though...

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 05/07/2009 22:46

donttrythis - Yes, you count from the first day of your last period so the first day would be day 1

I am also very irritable, poor dh doesn't know if he's coming or going, I keep appologising and reminding him it's just hormones but then I snap at him again !

Caitni - I haven't had constipation (yet) but it is normal. Pg slows down your bowels (or something like that)make sure you stay hydrated and get enough fibre.

BellasYummyMummy · 06/07/2009 06:53

morning ladies!!!

i had a lovely birthday yesterday! was nice eating all that food!!
i can empathise with those who cant seem to stop eating! i am finally back to my pre-pregnancy weight and here we go again! but wouldnt change it for the world. i try to have some toast with peanut butter or fruit which sometimes works!!

caitni i tend to get the opposite problem when im pregnant- all my pregnancies in the beginning i tend to get the runs! sorry tmi! its really weird as all the books say constipation is the common theme, though i have read a few other mum to be's who have the same issue as me.
thats really exciting about the conception indicator, i dont know if i should do another one. last tues it said 2-3 which i was thrilled with. im off on holiday today so if i dont pack my other test then i wont have the temptation to do it!!! when is your scan?? i dont know if we should have an early one or not...

donttry- im also VERY irritable, dont worry! DH keeps asking whats wrong which makes me even angrier!! trying to take a few breathes and relax!!

only getting a few waves of ms every now and then, had a bit last night. always so relieved when it comes, but its not really sickness, more of an 'anxious/nervous' type feeling in my tummy. am hoping it will probably kick in soon, though know i will regret saying that. Anyway im off today for a week, so hope you ladies have a nice uneventful week in terms of PG, look forward to catching up when i get back!! xx

GColdtimer · 06/07/2009 07:08

hello everyone, just catching up with all your messages.

I am not feeling pregnant at all - does anyone else feel like that? I am exceptionally tired and very irritable but the absence of MS means it doesn't seem real. The first time round I felt constantly sick from 4 weeks. Not that I am wishing it on myself!

I also made it through Friday night by pretending to be drinking. Everyone else got so drunk they didn't notice that I was in charge of topping everyone's glasses up and I sat with the same half glass of Rose all night.

chubbymummy and others who have mentioned it, I am also worried about weight gain. Just before christmas I lost loads of weight but then put a lot back on after I broke my leg on Boxing Day. I was hoping to loose it again before I got PG, but it happened really quickly. Never mind......

GColdtimer · 06/07/2009 07:09

Oh, and happy birthday for yesterdays BellasYM.

Dalrymps · 06/07/2009 10:35

Happy Birthday for yesterday BellasYM!

Have a nice week

twofalls- I also don't feel pg at all. It is worrying me quite a lot to the point I really daren't get excited cause I'm concerned something is going to go wrong... I also am rather lose instead of having constipation ! When I was pg with ds I started feeling nauseous at around 5/6 weeks I think and it lasted till 8 weeks so not too long but there's nothing this time, i'm crossing my fingers that it's just cause 'no two pg's are the same'.

Well done for making it through fri night, good noone noticed!

I'm a bit miffed about my weight too. Thankfully I lost all my baby weight straight away after ds but then put it back on since . I kinda wanted to loose it before falling pg again but am too greedy and didn't manage, it soooo hard to keep it off! Now i'm pg though i'm not watching my weight at all really, just making sure I get my 5 a day and whatever else I fancy!

One good side affect of the pg is that i've cgone off chocolate, I just find the taste too strong now, same happened last time. You would be shocked at this if you knew what a chocoholic I was before, I'm usually seriously addicited! I can still stomach chocolate flavoured things though like conflake crunchies mmm

Got my appointment with the doc today to tell her i'm pg. I know it's a bit silly but i keep wondering in my head how I should tell her. Seems a bit strange to just go in and say 'hi, i'm pregnant' maybe i'm just strange!

Meita · 06/07/2009 11:13

Hello!

May I join you all? I tested positive yesterday and estimate my due date to be March 15th.

I am very excited as it is my first!

Also, I grew up in Switzerland and only moved to the UK three years ago (I have double citizenship) and am thus very unsure about procedures and stuff. But I suppose everything will sort itself out :-)

I'm looking forward to sharing our experiences of the next +/- 9 months with you all!

Best,
Meita

Caitni · 06/07/2009 11:32

Morning ladies

Welcome Meita - congrats on your positive test!

BYM happy birthday for yesterday! Glad you had a good day. I was also going to wait to do my last conception indicator on Tuesday (exactly one week past the last one) but couldn't resist on Sunday morning . I like those tests, but also think they're slightly the work of the devil (just taking a line as a line seems so much more civilised!). And have a wonderful holiday!

Donttry am also comedy irritable - we had a busy weekend and it was like I was getting all my irritability out on my DH when it was just the two of us and then being lovely and charming to our friends - poor guy! I know my dates pretty exactly, because of the ivf (egg collection counts as ovulation) but this site also helps with working out how many weeks & days pregnant you are, as you can adjust it to your actual cycle length: www.babycentre.co.uk/tools/duedate/.

Twofalls clever trick on the not drinking! It's amazing what drunk people don't notice .

Dalrymps I had that same thought when I saw the doc last week - ended up just blurting it out and found the whole thing quite awkward . Am still trying to decide which hospital I want to be referred to (I hate choice! Was just expecting to be told you're going to X hospital) but will do it soon so I can get officially into the system.

Am feeling quite rough today - like a hangover - not a good way to start the working week...

Minicooper · 06/07/2009 13:08

Afternoon, ladies, I'm also not feeling pregnant yet - and felt the same as others when I saw the GP this morning. Announced that Id done a pg test and it was positive. He said 'well done!' Felt like a school girl! I had an early scan due to stomach cramps last time, which was reassuring - I hoped I could persuade my dr to refer me for a dating scan this time as my cycles been bonkers, but no good. Heigh ho, guess I'll just have to wait it out. The next 8 weeks will seem very loooooooooooooong, methinks!

wilkos · 06/07/2009 13:19

i have got docs this afternoon, was supposed to be an appointment about something else but that has paled into insignificance now!

thats if i make it, dd is asleep and i am wondering whether to have a snooze myself. tiredness is just horrendous. don't remember this with dd at all.

minicoper, am also worried about how to tell doc. its awkward isnt it!

Dophus · 06/07/2009 13:54

OKey doke. So finially pucked up courage to do test and tell DH. He was rather unimpressed, and still in shock.

However it takes 2 to tango and he accepts that so he'll get used to it! Mainly concerned(as am I) about finances and dealing with three in general.

Saw GP this morning - waiting for early scan appointment (I had an ectopic earlier in the year).

Other than tha feeling fine - afternoon sickness starting to creep in. Had bad MS with last twoso hoping this means it's a girl!

Bella - I also work in the pharmaceutical industry but as a biologist.

Josie22 · 06/07/2009 14:37

Can I join please. First ever BFP yesterday morning and it hasn't really sunk in yet!!!

I have been feeling really tired too - fell asleep twice yesterday and feel like I might have to have a nap later - luckily I am off work today but don't know how I am going to manage at work tomorrow!! Also, have very sore boobs and a tiny bit nauseous though that may just butterflies caused by excitement. I kind of what to get the symptoms though as I know it means that everything is ok! Is that a bit bonkers? Also hungry - in fact think I might need to go and stick another bagel in the toaster!

TakeLovingChances · 06/07/2009 15:25

Argh! Advice please!

Remember this mission trip thing I told you ladies about? Well, I leave on Thursday for 2 weeks. Just got a call from the team leader to say that one of the other team members has got shingles.... does that effect me? Will that put me at risk?

I had chickenpox around 15 years ago when I was a child.

Never mind swine flu, this is worrying me more!

Doctorskidaddle · 06/07/2009 15:30

hi everyone,

wow so many new BFPs - congrats to all

Just back from oop north where I SOOO nearly blurted out I was pg about 100 times to parents. ILs and friends. e.g.

MIL: Oh DS is such a mummy's boy, isn't he?
ME: Well he'll have to stop all that once number 3
DH: Ahem yes, he'll have to stop when he's 3
MIL: Eh?

can't believe I am so rubbish! Suppose it is because I am constantly thinking about it...

To all those who are starving but with no MS - being starving definitely immediately preceded MS for me so I reckon it won't be long. I am 7 weeks now (I think) and I feel so so sick ALL the time - it is awful. No work gets done at all and it can make me cry it is so bad

caitni - I also save all my nastiness especially for my poor DH and am lovely and charming to everyone else! But I reckon he'd rather that that enduring pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding three times over himself!

becky - another one in awe of your pg with no.4!! It will be so lovely to have four so close in age when they are older (and now of course but surely a bit easier when the're all at school)

dophus - sounds like it didn't go too badly. I'm sure he (and you) will get used to it with time. We are also very concerned about how difficult having three will be both financially and just coping with three little ones but I'm sure we will surprise ourselves at how well and cheaply we do it

Dophus · 06/07/2009 15:43

I also find myself struggling not to blurt it out. I don't think I'm going to be able to hide it though - my jeans are already tight and I feel 'growing pains'.

My boobs have jumped a size as well.

It's hard to talk to frineds family about future stuff that was going to happen when I know it isn't. I was training for a marathon in October - all are watching me go from committed runner, salad eater to junk food slob. Plus having quitter smoking (OK I appreciate the latter statement doesn't go witht he former two but we all have weaknesses!

Working from home todaya dn really can't focus

Tigresswoods · 06/07/2009 15:57

I want to go to sleeeeeepppp....

becky7000 · 06/07/2009 17:00

I am soooooo tired and got horrible MS. I've tried to explain to kids that it would be great if they could let me have a lie down and a bit of peace and quiet but no luck yet!!!!

On a positive note DS1 is now potty trained so only 2 in nappies and I am going back to work soon (following present mat leave) for a few months so will get a well deserved change of scene!

Really great to see all new BFPs, hopefully many more before we get into April and then we can be in it all together.
