That is SUCH good news. You must be over the moooooon!

Thanks for posting and letting us know. Some good news is called for frankly.....

Arcadie · 23/07/2009 17:28

Carrie2010: Thanks. I have everything crossed too. But that's going to make wearing pretty shoes for my brother's wedding difficult so I may have to uncross for a few minutes a day.....

(In jubilant mood after Retro's scan and therefore posting twaddle)

I'm so pleased for you Retro. You are in for the long haul with us now!

childofthe80s · 23/07/2009 19:05

Well done retro - brilliant news!

I haven't posted much but am keeping an eye on the thread. Fingers crossed for all those of you who are having worrying symptoms.

Things are fine here, feeling a bit queasy in the mornings but not full on sick so hoping it will stay that way. Off to see the (new) GP tomorrow to get things started. Feel a bit as though I am going to see the school nurse and will be told off, I'm not sure why. I think DH's fear that people will think we are not grown up enough to have a baby is rubbing off on me (I'm not sure why as we are late 20s/early 30s, both in proper jobs and own a flat with a garden albeit that it isn't that big). Sometimes I do feel a bit apprehensive about whether we are ready for it all though. Anyone else having that or are you all seasoned second and more timers or cool, confident, first-timers?

Anyway, hope all well with everybody.

chubbymummy · 23/07/2009 19:17

Retro that's fantastic!!!!! I was getting all teary eyed reading that, you must be so relieved. x

rachie37 · 23/07/2009 19:24

Hi girls,

Wondering if its ok to join u?
I have a ds who is 3 and 11 months and a 6 month baby, I am now 7 + 4 with my third and have buried my head in the sand til now, as it was a bit of a shock, well a lot of a shock and not really sure how im going to cope with 3 under 5!

rachie37 · 23/07/2009 19:24

oh and my due date is 6th March i think!

rachie37 · 23/07/2009 19:25

oh and DH not exactly over the moon but think he is coming round!

Arcadie · 23/07/2009 19:36

Rachie37 Come along and join. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but hopefully by end of September it'll all be calm!
Really pleased for you that you'll have 3 DCs: everyone says it's wonderful and I'm sure the age gap will be just great. ( My friend has DD and DS who're 17 months apart and they get on famously and she's not found it tricky at all!)

becky7000 · 23/07/2009 19:40

childof the 80s- I am a fourth timer and still feel like I am not responsible enough and don't know what I am doing! I will be 30 with 4 kids! I know people have a lot more a lot younger but I don't always feel "grown up" enough!

Rachie37- I will have 4 under 4 (this one wasn't planned, but not unwelcome!) so know what you mean. I am silently panicking! DH will be going for the snip next year!

rachie37 · 23/07/2009 19:44

Mine DH will be joining him, again this was definatly not planned but as you say definatly not unwelcome either! roll on 12 weeks hey

Walnut8 · 23/07/2009 19:51

thats such great news retro!!

chubbymummy is your follow up scan tomorrow? goodluck i really hope everything goes well.

LuckySalem · 23/07/2009 19:51

Welcome to Rachie I bet its gonna be tough but lovely.

Can I ask a couple of questions? Is there somewhere I can get a EDD based on conception date as I know we conceived on my birthday but I dont know when my LMP was.

Also does it matter that I'm still carrying DD around? Not gonna hurt LO is it?

Cheepz · 23/07/2009 20:47

www.amazingpregnancy.com/duedate/index.html has a from conception date calculator

i am lumping ds around - with him i was moving furniture and carrying things well into second trimester so am sure its fine for now - good excercise!!!

LuckySalem · 23/07/2009 20:51

Thanks Cheepz - I figured itd be ok but thought I best check

scooby26 · 23/07/2009 20:52

Fab news Retro!!! and welcome to yet more newbies!!

I can't wait 5 weeks for a scan - got nightshift in 3.5 and can't do another set. Don't want to say unless its good news and won't have had a scan by then as would only be 10.5 weeks- if it's bad news would go off but claim another illness - joy of working with all blokes! If it's good I would then be happy to say.

Midwife had told me a ploy to get an early scan but Im getting an attack of the conscience helped by my mother who thinks we should just pay. Anyone got any thoughts or experience of private scan?? I have two options if we pay - a private national scan company who is very local or private scan at my NHS hospital where I would givebirth if we get that far- any thoughts?? Can't face another nightshift so gonna have to do something and gather if you see a good heartbeat at 8-9 weeks risks drop to about 2%!! (hence happy to say then) If I worked 9-5 in a desk job I'd bide my time and be patient but can't do nights again - promise it's not just an excuse!!!

LuckySalem · 23/07/2009 20:56

well according to that calculator I'm only 5 weeks pregnant. Can't wait that long for a scan!! Grrrr Wishing I hadn't told everyone yet.

Due date of 22nd March.

Cheepz · 23/07/2009 21:14

thats still before me Lucky - I am even earlier due date 26th March!!! I am bang on 5 tomorrow ... such a long wait ahead

donttrythisathome · 24/07/2009 09:29

Thrilled for you retro

mumbot · 24/07/2009 09:38

Congrats Retro - wonderful news

Scooby26 - I would recommend a private scan - but then I'm obsessed with seeing my little bean

Due around March 10

designerbaby · 24/07/2009 10:31

Oh Retromum - that's SUCH fab news... you must be so relieved. Lets hope we get some more news like that from those still in limbo...

Welcome newbies - Rachie, my friend from antenatal has 16 months between her two - and she's coping really well. Reckons that because they're both closer in age you're doing mostly the same kind of things with them. I think this will only be more true as they get older. Also my DH and his two sisters have 14 months between them and my mother-in-law reckons that's the way to go! (But then she was only 22 when she had her first, and also lived in south africa with 2 maids, a cook and someone to do the garden. I reckon even I could manage 3 under 5 in those circumstances!)

I've been feeling pretty rotten tbh. general nausea isn't too bad, provided I make sure and eat something every couple of hours. But I've been having horrible crampy stomach pains... not low down/uterus area (thankfully) much more stomachy, but very very uncomfortable. Also very windy (TMI?) so that might be related. But I couldn't sleep last night I was in so much pain, and had a rotten day at work feeling really really uncomfortable and not being able to say anything. Don't know what it is, or if it's worth getting checked out. Kind of comes in waves, and when I get a wave of pain, I get all cold and clammy and shivery. "Not nice" as my DD would say.

It's possibly just a byproduct of everything getting shifted around, but it's beginning to worry me now it's gone on for a week and seems to be getting worse. By stomach is the size of s football, and I KNOW it's not baby yet, and i haven't been eating that much!

What do you all think? Anyone else got the same?

xx
