Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Arcadie · 22/07/2009 20:27

Hi Luckysalem lovely to have you with us. Don't panic about your age gap - mine was 22 months between them and it's been lovely.

LuckySalem · 22/07/2009 20:33

Cheers Arcadie.

If i'm honest we wanted it closer than its gonna be!! lol. We wanted no more than 2 years and its gonna be nearly 2 and 1/2 now I think.

Cheepz · 22/07/2009 21:30

DTTAH - had hardly any symptoms the whole first 12 weeks with ds so wouldn't fret about that

LOL at designerb post since also have spectacularly offputting previous birth experience which feel must share - early water break = double the pain for 18 hour labour, waiting to 6cm dilated to get into water pool in hospital only to bleed to heavily to be allowed in, demanding pain relief at that stage but emergency in next door suite meant it took too long for them to sort half dose of pethadine resulting in no drugs and a natural delivery of 10 pound 5 ounce baby who had his fist next to his unusually large head .. looked like a war zone, husband was crying not because moved by birth of first son but because i was making such a racket he thought i was going to die

but 6 hours later having had 2nd degree tear stiched and BCG for the baby was checked out and on way home ....

back in 48 hours later because ds was jaundiced because i couldn't feed him enough being as he was so large

only thing stressing me at the moment is the prospect of number two being bigger ... they normally are. yeeks.

fingers and thumbs crossed for ladies waiting for worrying scans... xxxx

LuckySalem · 22/07/2009 22:49

Just wanted to add I didn't get any symptoms except sore boobs with DD but this time have every symptom except that really.

usuallydormant · 23/07/2009 06:52

Don't know how you all left the hospitals so early. I'm in France (am actually Irish) and the norm where I am is to stay in five days for the average birth. Could book a private room for ?30 supplement a night and nurses wheeled me in all my meals, copious amounts of yogurt and herbal tea before lights out.... All this in the public service!

Hmm, swine flu. Was planning to go and stay with my SIL in London in Sept with DS and DH (she has two kids). Am I mad or is the interweb scaremongering?

Dalrymps · 23/07/2009 09:02

Sorry haven't been on much, like others have been feeling dreadfully sick. Seems a little better this morning for once!

Thinking of those of you who have scans coming up x

Sorry to monkey and retro, think I already said but sad to hear your news...

DB - Woo hoo on the house, see, it all happens for a reason

Symptoms wise, with ds I only had ms from wk 6 to 8, am praying the same happens this time (yeah right). Had sore breasts with him but they're only a little tender this time, instead I seem to have horrendous wind

Ah yes birth stories, I would like to say to all the first timers, the stories are a lot more scary that the reality. Hard to explain, for instance, my experience was that I sustained a 3rd degree tear as ds had his arm up. At the time I had no idea at all that it'd happened until the midwife told me, never felt anything that I would consider my fanjo tearing, just thought it was ds coming out as normal! I healed well afterwards also. I'm not really looking forward to labour again but the end of labour - meeting ds was the best moment of my life so am looking forward to that bit. I did it once so I know I can do it again. Best to be open minded and keep breathing!

Dalrymps · 23/07/2009 09:03

Oh and welcome to the newbies, congratulations of your BFP's!

Cheepz · 23/07/2009 09:09

DAlrymps - that moment - you are sooo right that moment, its just the most amazing thing ever, and whatever has happened in the previous 5,10,20 hours disappears and you are holding this amazing little person covered in smeg best ever. Only 35 weeks to go ....

designerbaby · 23/07/2009 09:42

Cheepz ? number 2s are bigger? Really?
Oh feck.

Cheepz · 23/07/2009 09:44

sorry to break it to you - bubs generally get bigger each time

my dh was apparently a 10 pounder and his little sister who is now a tiny size 8 was an 11 pound bub .... my side of the family has big heads

i have no chance

TakeLovingChances · 23/07/2009 09:48

Hello all!

TLC is back in the MN house

I had an interesting mission trip experience, won't give details here, but suffice to say because I was working in a poor area of Ukraine I barely ate a thing the whole week and hardly slept either. These things didn't do me any favours on the MS front - think my stomach was eating itself

Anyway, baby seemed to cope okay, no cramps or blood.

I got home in the early hours of yesterday morning and got an early scan yesterday afternoon.

My DH works in healthcare, so he scanned me It was very special. I was 7+6 yesterday by me working out my dates, and that is just what the scan said too. Saw little 1.4cm bean and heartbeat.

Told my parents and siblings last night, all very excited!

I've read over all the posts that I missed while I was away - sorry to hear about all the upset some people are having, but also I'm glad to read the happy experiences too.

T

Caitni · 23/07/2009 10:16

Just a very quick post as am busy at work.

TLC welcome back and congrats on the scan . How amazing for your DH to have scanned you! If my DH could do that I'd be trying to wrangle scans all the time

On the second baby front, my side of the family also breed them big (one of my nieces was 12 pounds 4 oz ). But my sister just had her second baby - 8lb 4oz at 10 days overdue and a quick labour after being induced. Her first child was 11lb 1oz and also born at 10 days overdue (and also an induced labour that lasted less than 3 hours) so the second baby isn't always bigger...

Dalrymps thanks for what you said about meeting your DS. It may sound naive from a first timer (as am fully expecting labour to be agony!) but I just think I'd be so overjoyed to finally meet our longed-for baby that it'll all be worth it...

Now time to try and do some work...

becky7000 · 23/07/2009 11:00

Just a quick message to say I had my scan this morning and everything looks good. Only problem is I am on the wrong thread as EDD is now 15th Feb. Hoping you will all let me stay as I don't want to start again somewhere else!

Not to rub in any bad experiences for people but just to reassure first timers! My DC1 was a 6 hour straight forward delivery. I did have 2nd degree tear but it never bothered me after. And to any second timers- DC2 only took 3 hours and only 10 mins pushing and no tear and DC3 was only 1 1/2 hours and no tear (and weighed the least!). I think it is very common for second labours to be easier and quicker. Hope this helps some people and for anyone shouting at the computer, didn't mean any offense!

Cheepz · 23/07/2009 11:30

I gather second is quicker - i am praying that is true in my case! and wholeheartedly agree that didn't notice tear when it happened, and although got an infection afterwards was not too sore and didn't take long to heal. May not be reassuring to hear that you don't feel the tear when it happens - if it happens!!

Dophus · 23/07/2009 12:29

DS1 was 15 hour labour - still only at 2.5 cm - so agreed to a section (he was breech but I wanted a trial of labour).

DS2 was a similar labour but progressed to 10 cm. Everything then stopped so I was wheeled into theatre where they sucked him out.

He was 0.5 lb smaller then his big brother.

I would take the CS over the ventouse given the choice!

pureeandpearls · 23/07/2009 13:06

I had to be induced at 38 weeks because of severe SPD. Took a few days, which was dull, but I enjoyed my private room and zimmer frame. Waters broke naturally then I had syntocin and epidural put in, slept through the night (sent DH home) woke at 7 and was 7cm. 10cm at 11, pushing at 12, baby born at 12.55 with ventouse as she was tiring (asked to be cut). Would do it exactly the same this time round too.

Becky- stay- if you go two weeks over it'll be a March baby anyway ;-)

becky7000 · 23/07/2009 16:44

I will stay if noone objects. At the end a couple of weeks doesn't make loads of difference anyway! Only when we are counting the 12 weeks.

Caitni · 23/07/2009 16:45

Becky congrats on your scan - and I'm glad you're sticking around . Lucky you being so close to twelve weeks

Dophus · 23/07/2009 16:53

I am counting dwont he hours to 12 weeks. I feel so crap now - much harder this pg than with my boys. Both times previously I felt better bang on 12 weeks.

Still spotting and cramping so focusing on the heartbeat detected last week. It will be a long 5 weeks.

Carrie2010 · 23/07/2009 16:56

Hi all,

Finally, I had my scan today and I was very relieved to find out that all was well. It was a follow up scan and they found the heartbeat again. The tiny thing had grown quite a bit as well, which was lovely!

They timed me at 7 weeks rather than 7+4 what I really should be, but they said it's rather normal to be a few days off. The EDD can still change, in fact the closer to 12 weeks we'll get the more precise EDD they will be able to give me. So, will use my original EDD until then.

Re symptoms ? I have been very very worried about having no symptoms of pg apart from sore boobs and a heightened sense of smell (some days not even that!). I have no nausea and in fact the symptoms that I had in the very beginning have decreased dramatically. But, apparently all is well and not everyone gets them so I have now decided not to worry about it anymore (unless there's severe pain or bleeding)!

Afternoon Ladies

I had a scan today asI just wanted it all over and done with as I have been physically sick for the last few days and I thought the horrible hormones wewre teasing me.

And Guess what THERE WAS A HEARTBEAT AND BABY!!!. It had grown a lot since monday and they said it's all on track for my dating of 6+3 and that although I'm still bleeding I am probably just someone who bleeds in early pregnancy and they don't need to see me until the 12 scan.

Hooray, Hooray, Hooray, actually cried on the sonogrpahers bed when he told me .

Anyway I have another scan tomorrow at a different hospital so hopefully it will still be there and reassure me more and then that will be that.

So don't give up hope Chubby it could be a slow grower.

RetroMum1 · 23/07/2009 17:05

Sorry for typos slightly excitable!

Dalrymps · 23/07/2009 17:08

Brilliant news Retro!!! So pleased for you

pureeandpearls · 23/07/2009 17:12

OMFG Retro that is utterly brilliant news!!!!! And who cares about crying- I cried at my scan and I haven't had your worries (((hugs)))

I have decided I must be having a boy as didn't feel this bad at all with DD.....probably really not that bad compared to others but feeling pretty crap. But am pg (and entirely naturally which is a bloody miracle) so can't complain to anyone in RL so you will have to put up with me

Caitni · 23/07/2009 17:15

Retro yay! That's great news and must be such a relief. Glad you'll get to see the little bean again tomorrow (isn't it amazing the difference a few days makes?!?)

Dophus sorry you're still spotting (you too Retromum) but you're right to focus on the positive. Each day that passes is another day closer to the magical second trimester...
