Ah nuts. I hate being at the end of the list.... I always go 2 weeks over as well so there's a good chance I'll have to join April 2010... Maybe I should start April 2010!!!!

RetroMum1 · 13/07/2009 15:43

After all that moaning about my horrible doctor (she was horrible though) it turns out she has referred me and the epdu have just called and booked me a scan for wednesday 22nd July. It still feels like that's a long way off though!

Tigresswoods · 13/07/2009 17:59

retromum!1 Farnborough in Hampshire? That's where I am!!!

RetroMum1 · 13/07/2009 18:51

No sorry in Kent just outside London.

LouBudd · 13/07/2009 18:57

Hi All, hope I can join this thread. I am 7 weeks with my third baby, due 1st March. Wish I had joined mm with my other 2. Still worry just as much third time round. Had terrible sickness with ds and dd but nothing so far this time. Am hoping it doesn't mean anything bad will happen. Hope all of you with bad ms are coping ok. I know too well how bad it can get. Here's to a healthy pregnancy for us all.

scooby26 · 13/07/2009 19:26

Welcome Loubudd.

Sitting here wondering how I'm gonna manage the next 4 nights!! Doesn't matter what the research says that nightshift shouldn't do me or bean any harm I still worry that it will. Normally I love nightshift so it's not just me trying to avoid it!

Is it really still 6 weeks to go to wk 12!!! I hear that risk reduces from 8 and 10 weeks so I'm gona try and talk mw into an earlish scan and if all appears ok, maybe 10 weeks, I'll tell work. I can't face nightshift in another 5 weeks time worrying about what it might do - thats if I get that far. Sorry to give out negative vibes - sure i'll be fine in 6 weeks!!!

Glad all doing well - thoughts still with those that are having a worrying time. Hope everyone chilling at home and not feeling too sick at this time of night.

Pingpong · 13/07/2009 19:47

Retromum1 sorry I don't want to alarm you but brown bleeding - often referred to as prune juice bleeding can be a classic sign in ectopic. That's the only sign I had that something was wrong with my ectopic pregnancy - no pain whatsoever.
Any bleeding should be checked out, a lot of people go on to have healthy babies despite a heavy bleed but please err on the side of caution.

LEMONADEGIRL · 13/07/2009 20:08

Evening all, hope everyone is not feeling too bad.

Dolphus - Hope you are okay, try and stay positive and hope you get an early scan to reassure you.

Minicooper - I feel the same about DS don't know if its the hormones but feel a bit guilty when I know I shouldn't. DS will be 3.5 when new one arrives and I do worry as well how he will cope. He is a real mummys boy too.

Retromum - Glad you got a scan sorted after your horrible inital visit. My Doctor who is well know for his odd sense of humour told me to enjoy natural contraception - whatever that is suposed to mean

Feeling not too bad tonight but still worrying that something may go wrong such a long time to go until first scan.

Does anyone know if you really shouldn't lift anything heavy. My DS wants to be picked up and cuddled ?

Have a good night all.

RetroMum1 · 13/07/2009 20:38

Smac I have already been to the doctor and she had a quick feel of my stomach. I have no symptoms of an ectopic and nobody else seems to be too worried that it could be otherwise they would have done a 4 week scan.

I have one booked for 6,2 anyway.

I also had this type of bleeding with my previous 2 pregnancies one turned out to be a mc and the other DD. I don't think that is what it is but it could be antoehr mc, i'm just trying to stay positive, but thank you for your concern.

Hope everyone else is alright, I am shattered today so I am off to bed now.

Night
xxx

Pingpong · 13/07/2009 21:21

Retromum1 I'm glad you are being well looked after, I just worry when people dismiss 'brown blood as old blood and that's okay' as I know from my own experience it was the start of a nightmare.
Fortunately ectopics only happen 1 in every 100 pregnancies but having been through it is something that I like to raise awareness.
I'll get off my soapbox now!
I'm also shattered so should go to bed soon too!

Dalrymps · 13/07/2009 22:18

Evening ladies

Doing ok today. Sickness a bit better than yesterday, got a wave of it before lunch, before tea and after tea. Got my booking in appointment from the midwives today, it's 3rd Aug, eek excited!

Poppyjen - I see some of the others have been able to reassure you about the pinching pain . I haven't had that partcular pain yet but have had quite a bit of cramping on and off. Sure it's all normal.

scooby - I worked 12 hr shifts when I was pg with ds. 3 days on 3 days off, but it was a desk job (call centre). I coped ok. Best to see how you go and don't over do it. You'll know if it's too much, don't be afraid to say so if it is!

mini - YES! I feel panicky occasionally just imagining looking after 2, ds is a whirlwind. I also feel guilty that he'll feel left out once the new lo is here. Think these are quite common concerns. Think it's best to accept it will be quite hard until you fall in to a rountine.

designerbaby - Hi! welcome and congratulations on your BFP! I remember you from the first time round, how great we get to do it together again! Hows your dd doing now? Ds is still a fussy eater!

Dalrymps · 13/07/2009 22:19

Cr*p, didn't mean to post that yet, I haven't finished! Off to write the rest!

LouBudd · 13/07/2009 22:23

I have always been more worried about ectopic than miscarriage with my previous pregnancies and this one. When I was pregnant with my dd (second baby) I had the most incredible sharp pain over one side when I was 6 weeks. Was on holiday in Italy at the time but still dragged myself to an Italian hospital and had a scan. Obviously all ok but had to remind myself of that time recently when experiencing similar pains. I wonder if aches and pains get worse with every pregnancy? It is so hard to just chill, no matter how many babies you have had.

Dalrymps · 13/07/2009 22:29

Josie - I had had bad wind and the cramps, great isn't it

Dophus - Sorry to hear you are having a worrying time and your docs aren't being helpful. Hope they stop being so arsey.

monkeys - Welcome and congratulations on your BFP!

LouBudd - Welcome and congratulations on your BFP!

lemonadegirl - Think lifting sensible things is ok. Your ds should be fine . Just don't go straining and overdoing it!

6 weeks 3 days today, counting down the days, they seem to be going agonisingly sloooow!

BlueyDragon · 13/07/2009 22:42

Evening all - just a little wave to let you know I'm still here and haven't fallen asleep on any other commuters . I've had a quick catch up on the posts and I'm seriously worried about what the NHS teaches its staff about bedside manner sometimes! Mind you, when I went tearing to the doctor in a panic cos DD had stopped moving last time, the doctor said "Well, you're only 19 weeks." So I should know better I suppose!

Told my boss last week. Let's just say her reaction was less than by the HR book and I'm already worried that she's looking for ways to sideline me both before and after. I'll have a chat with her tomorrow and see if I can't make my point subtly and calmly.

Otherwise all seems OK apart from ravenous hunger and, weirdly, breathlessness. Sorry to hear about those of you who are having a bit of a rough ride - keeping my fingers crossed.

Poppyjen · 13/07/2009 22:57

Thank you so much for all of your advice

I am trying not to panic so much, I think it's all just due to wind/bloating like some of you other ladies, my goodness, pregnancy is glamorous isn't it.....

I'll raise all of my aches and pains with the doctor on Thursday and hopefully she will reassure me some more. Still hasn't sunk in properly, I really want the next few weeks to flash by so that I can finally allow myself to be excited .

I think that a stand should be made against horrid doctors, pregnancy may be commonplace to them, but to us it's the most amazing and miraculous thing and should be treated as such, even if you are "only" a few weeks pregnant. Hrumpf.

Good luck and best wishes to all having a tough time!

scooby26 · 14/07/2009 04:07

Evenin all-or shud that b mornin! Yes its 4am and ive managed so far 2 stay awake.got lots of tummy pains but i do think its gas-joys of nites.really worried im doin the bean harm workin nites despite apparant evidence.it seems contrary 2 the advice of rest and look after yourself.not sure il make it thro the week.been 2 the loo 4 times in 6 hrs-only so often i can disapear! X

Dophus · 14/07/2009 08:07

Hi everyone - thanks for all the support.

My GP referred me to the EPU of a different hospital - both were shocked that the other hospital had refused to see me given my history (other thatn through A&E). What's strange is that the maternity unit of the hospital that was difficult ahs one of the best reputations in the country - Frimley Park. St Peter (scuzzy hospital) were, in contrast, superb.

To cut a long story short everything is fine. The splodge is in the right place and they were even able to detect a heartbeat (just).

Still have spotting but feel a lot more positive.

Dalrymps · 14/07/2009 08:31

scooby - sounds like you're gonna have to put an end to those nights. Might be worth it for people to find out if you get to rest and look after yourself!

Dophus - Thats great news! GLad they finally got their act together and you got a scan.

Not feeling too bad this morning. I have far to much wind for a laydee and only felt sick after my morning cuppa so far...

Arcadie · 14/07/2009 13:43

So my lovelies - welcome to LouBudd, Monkeys and Designerbaby. See what you mean about the thread filling fast! Yay for babies.

Dophus very pleased all's going well.

2 questions:

1st to people for whom this is not their first: how early will your GP / midiwfe / local surgery consider putting you on the books? I had my booking at 9 weeks with DS at about 12 weeks with DD and I imagine they probably won't even entertain giving me an appointment this time until about 12 weeks. Should I even bother phoning, mentioning the bleed etc etc or will I likely just get the "come back when you're about 10 weeks" brushoff?

2nd question to all: any of you keen exercisers? I've been pounding the streets jogging and religiously Davina-ing (as Skid will tell you - I whinge about it constantly on PNthread & MN!) but think that maybe too much exercise might have caused the bleed. Anyone else had bleeding after exercise? Anyone think I'm just being paranoid? Anyone think I should lay off the hand weights until 12 weeks are up? I'm open to suggestions.....

Dophus · 14/07/2009 14:40

1st Q
wouldn't book me in until 12 qweeks with first 2.

2nd.
I run and was training for a marathon in Oct. My GP said it was fine to continu to do the 10m runs I usually do and that there was no need to reduce - just listen to my body.

I haven't run for a couple of weeks dur to sick and tired - hope to start again soon (but approx 5 miles).

I have had bleeding but this did not occur after exercise - from all I've read, exercising is perfectly safe through pg as long as you're sensible.

Sariska · 14/07/2009 15:51

I'll be almost 11 weeks when I have my booking appt, although I think it was similar last time tbh. Still 5 weeks away: aaaages. Despite ms it doesn't seem real yet and perhaps won't until I see it "on screen". Last time I had an 8 week scan, 4 whole weeks sooner than is likely this time.

Re exercise, I'm planning to continue more or less as normal. No marathons here (perish the thought!) but lots of walking and swimming. I think it's generally safe to continue your usual exercise regime, at least until you're too large to manage it. Potentially dangerous sports are another matter, I guess. I like climbing but would never attempt it whilst pg.

Working from home today but constantly distracted by sickness - and can't think of anything I want to eat. Have to go into the office in London tomorrow and already wondering what to wear to hide my anti-nausea wrist bands! Hope everyone else is doing better than me on the work front!

Dophus · 14/07/2009 16:02

I'm also really struggling on the work front - partly MS (all day sickness off and on) partly just distracted and demotivated in general! Far too much time surfing today.

Absolutely exhausted now really want to home but have a meeting at 4.30

BellasYummyMummy · 14/07/2009 16:25

hi ladies

sorry i havent been on in such a long time, we came back from our hols last week and i just havent really been on the internet. Also trying to keep my distance a bit as its still so early on im afraid of something going wrong. have had a rocky few days- had some cramping over the weekend and yest with some brown mucous discharge, and this morning some blood. convinced myself it was all over, didnt sleep a wink last night and went through all the emotions. we had a scan today and i burst into tears when she showed us our baby with its little heart pounding away, she said it was a very strong heartbeat and everything looked fine, and dated us at exactly what i thought, 6+1. i was amazed she found it using an abdominal scanner rather than an internal and i didnt have a full bladder, so must have been a strong beat! still in shock, have had a 2 hour nap but still drained. still having twinges, but thankfully there is no more bleeding. not out of the woods yet, the next 6 weeks will be long, but i probably wont come on here often as it tends to get me more stressed out and i need to be as chilled as poss and get on with things. hope everyone is well, looks like there are lots of newbies which is fantastic. will drop on again soon to see how you all are xxx
