Hello everyone,

I can't find a March 2010 thread so thought I'd start with.

This is my first and i think my EDD is 2 March 2010.

Come and join me!

Thanks for all your kind words ladies.
My boss was lovely when I rang her, she told me to rest and forget about work until September.
I could really do with a glass of wine (or something a bit stronger) but I can't while I'm still clinging onto the very faint possibility that nugget is just a bit slow on the uptake and is growing slower than s/he should.

Pingpong · 11/07/2009 12:38

GL chubbymummy I really hope things work out for you. And the others with early bleeding/ectopic scares you are also in my thoughts.

Seems like there are few of use with LO who are 15 months. I think March babies are the best but I am totally biased.

I've been feeling really rough in the morning when I first get up but usually perk up a bit after having food. I have to keep eating regularly but find it hard to decide what exactly it is that I want to eat. I make something then go completely off the idea. Junk food is hugely appealing

I am not feeling in the least bit horny but poor DH is ! He says he feels all manly when he's impregnated me [chuckle]

There's been lots of talk of going to see the doc but I'm not sure what to do. I'm already registered at EPU and have a follow up scan next week so think I'll just contact the MW team direct after that.

Your GP sounds horrible, RetroMum. There is no such thing as being a little bit pregnant (so said an obstetrician friend of mine when I was pregnant with DS).

Smac, yes, I think March is a lovely time to have a baby. My DS was born in March 08, so I'm one of the ones with a 15 month-er - and I recognise ilgb from the March 08 thread (am not a stalker, honest: just an occasional lurker on that thread who never posted because it felt a bit late when I discovered it (and MN) only days before giving birth).

Morning ladies

Wow do I feel sick today, felt sick most of yesterday too. Be careful what you wish for indeed!

Lemonadegirl - Carbs are also my friend, I really just want bread all the time and bagels and bland things. I can't stomach chocolate, believe me i've tried!

Sariska - Welcome and congratualtions of your BFP!

Retromum - at your doctor! Sounds similar to my experience. What is it with these people??? Stupid woman!

smac - I know what you mean about making food then not wanting it. I keep buying food I used to love but eating it I realise I no longer like it at all. Makes deciding what to eat very difficult. Stong smells are making me feel sick

Arcadie - Congratualtions on your BFP ad welcome!

My dh is working for some extra money today. I'm secretly hoping ds has a loooong morning nap so I can just sit here and try not to vom.

Poppyjen · 12/07/2009 16:02

Afternoon ladies

I have a quick question for you all - I am now 5 weeks and for the past couple of days I have been having occasional pinching pain near my right hip bone. I can't help but worry that this might be something horrid, has anyone else experienced this? It is located just at the point your fingers would be if you put your hands on your hips.

I am so excited about being pregnant but I can't help feeling panicked at every little twinge. I have a Drs appointment on Thursday, but going crazy worrying....

Can anyone help?

Thanks

scooby26 · 12/07/2009 18:36

Hi all

Retomum1 I can't believe your doc!! I have to say mine was lovely. She asked if I was excited and tried to be really interested - couldn't have asked for more. Had to book an appt with the midwife for 11 weeks which is ages away yet and apparantly the midwife will come to my house over next few weeks for the booking in stuff.

Welcome to all the newbies - it's nice to see the list of dates getting longer as this last week seems to have dragged and seeing dates getting further ahead at least means new people are coming in behind us with lots of excitement. Feel like it should be 12 weeks already ( or hoping anyway!!)

Poppyjen - I haven't had pinching but have had lots of cramping and heaviness as if a period is due but no bleeding. Im told it's just everything stretching but I think you just to have to keep an eye on it. Pain on only one side with bleeding can be ectopic but it is quite rare so hopefully its just stretching pains and nothing to worry about.

I'm paranoid it's going to go wrong so I'm not getting excited just yet and keep checking internet for things. I'm hoping I'm not totally mad and just a nervous first timer!!

Does anyone else work shifts???

Im due to work 4 nights from tomorrow. I asked my GP and my sis who is a doc. Both said there is no medical reason not to work it but I'll probably be knackered and think I'm mad to do it. The only way out would be to tell my boss - which if I did I'd get moved to a desk job ( i'm in the police) and everyone would find out. I just think it's too soon for that and I'm worried that by telling everyone I'd jinx things. Daft I know. Think I'm just gona have to give it a shot and see how I go. I've got two more stints of nights before 12 weeks if I get that far.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend and getting looked after by your better halves! (especially you chubbymummy!)

becky7000 · 12/07/2009 19:08

Scooby26- I worked shifts as a nurse with all 3 DCs and will work them again this time. If you feel ok then just do it. I finished work at 35 weeks with them all which was definately right for me as it can get hard later when you are on your feet a lot.

Minicooper · 12/07/2009 19:32

Hi, Poppyjen, yes I have this, and had it last time too. Think its just everything stretching in anticipation of getting huuuuuuuuuuuuuge!!!

My main concerns this time round (for those of you who are veterans) are - coping with 2 when one seems to be more than a full time job - and feeling oddly that I'm betraying dd by having another dc. Sounds crazy - anyone relate to this??? Come put my mind at rest!

On a brighter note, met 4day old baby of a friend toda, so that's got me in the mood. Sooooo tiny!

scooby26 · 12/07/2009 19:41

Thanks becky7000 xx

HI ladies - can I join please?

Only found out I'm pg with number 2 on Saturday, due date accordng to the mumsnet calendar is 3rd March, so I'm adding myself - allbeit rather tentatively as I can't quite believe it's true or that everything will be OK.

Had a bit of a scare with DD, so always a bit of a pessimist - so ignore my negativity!

Anyway, will only be a sporadic poster for a while as I work in an open plan studio and i can't have work spotting this as they won't be knowing for a while yet!

Quick and possibly stupid question to which i think I ought to know that answer since this is no.2 - it says my conception date was 12 June (which sounds about right!) which would make me extacly 1 month (4 and a bit weeks) pregnant but last time I'm sure I counted from first day of last missed period - which was 22 May which would make it an 'offical' (if not actual) 8 weeks - what do the power that be calculate it from? What are you using as your 'start' date?

Just wondering...

db
xx

p.s. not much in way of symptoms here just feeling bloated and fat, a bit achy and tired as all hell. Feeling a bit sick tonight, but that might just be too much chocolate... never had any MS with DD.

p.p.s. Hey Dal!!

Poppyjen · 13/07/2009 00:02

Thanks Scooby26 and Minicooper - it's nice to know that things sound normal (and that I am not the only one panicking at the slightest thing ) I'll keep an eye on it and mention it to Dr on Thurs.

Hi Designerbaby - they calculate from the first day of your last proper period so although technically your baby is only a month old, your pregnancy is 8 weeks old. Congratulations - I am guessing that you didn't mean to write "first day of last missed period" because if you missed a period in May then you would be a lot more pregnant than 8 weeks.....

Pingpong · 13/07/2009 08:45

I got confused too as I clicked on the ovulation calculator not the EDD calculator but yes designerbaby go by your LMP that's the first thing the midwife will ask you.

Josie22 · 13/07/2009 10:38

Morning all - hope everyone had lovely relaxing weekends.

Poppyjen - I had a few sharp twinges last week - it is apparently round ligaments stretching and shouldn't be anything to worry about. Tell the doctor next thursday anyway but try not to worry in the meantime. I think I read somewhere that first time round you notice all these things because your uterus hasn't already been stretched by another dc. Makes us newbies nervous though doesn't it!

Designerbaby - welcome and congratulations. It's hard to know whether to be positive or not at this stage isn't it. My sisters told me to try not to think about it until after the 12 week scan (much easier said than done).

Arcadie - welcome and congratulations too! This thread is filling up fast! March is obviously a popular month.

I had an eventful night - work from a very heavy sleep at 3am with really bad lower tummy cramps. Went into complete panic mode thinking it was something terrible. Was covered in sweat and shivering - felt like I was going to vom. Anyway ended up going to loo and felt fine afterwards. Turns out I had really bad trapped wind and it was my tummy that was cramping and not my uterus. All these lovely symptoms that no one talks about! Anyway, thought I would post it anyway just in case anyway else got the same and panicked like me. No ms yet then just huge quantities of gas - I must be great to be around at the moment!

Dophus · 13/07/2009 10:54

Hello there,

having a bit of a rough time of it today. Was bleeding yesterday so obviously very concerned. I had an ectopic earlier in the year.

My GP had referred me for an early scan a week ago but every time I call they are arsy. I have refaxed my details but the receptionist won't look at them - she'll give them to a midwife tomorrow. This is despite saying I was bleeding.

I am waiting to speak to my GP to see if he can bump the queue.

Josie22 · 13/07/2009 11:12

Oh Dophus you poor thing. I hope you get your scan sorted quickly. Try and stay positive - is it worth you actually going down to the doctors/hospital and insisting someone talks to you/sees you?

chubbymummy · 13/07/2009 13:00

Dophus try ringing the gyne ward at your local hospital and asking for the times of the EPAU (Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit) or BEP clinic(Bleading in Early Pregnancy). Just turn up during opening hours (9-12 at my local hospital)You should be able to attend as a self-refferal, you may have to hang around for a while to get seen if it's busy and they may want their doctor to see you first but you shouldn't have a problem getting a scan. If you are met with opposition I'd recomend trying a different hospital. I live between 2 and (unfortunatly) have experience of both, one hospital will scan you but very reluctantly and the other are much more reassuring - I rang up with my concerns during my last pregnancy and they told me to pop straight down, no neeed to ring!
Good luck, Fingers crossed for you!

chubbymummy · 13/07/2009 13:01

Oh and if that doesn't work, try going via A+E - they will have to see you then!

Pingpong · 13/07/2009 13:20

oh Dophus I'm so cross on your behalf. Anyone with bleeding should be scanned and definitely if you have a history of ectopic. My first pregnancy was an ectopic and I've subsequently had DD. I was able to self refer for a scan this time round and found my EPU to be very supportive. I wish they were all like that. Even when I had the scan booked the sister said to call immediately if I had any significant pain or bleeding.
If you can't get your GP to help then I would go straight to A&E where someone will have to see you. Do you have any other symptoms other than bleeding?
With a TV scan they should be able to see what is going on.
Good luck

RetroMum1 · 13/07/2009 13:59

Hi Dolphus

So sorry to hear what a rough time your having with the NHS too, where abouts are you? If you are in London then I know that you can self refer yourself to Kings at anytime.

I live between Farnborough and Kings and my doctor was being fuinny about referring me as I was only a little bit pregnant! on Friday, that was Farnborough.

But Kings are fantastic and after my MC when I fell pregnant again with DD I went 6 times just for reassurance scans and they were always brilliant.

I am going to take myself to Kings on Friday to see whats going on as there is no point me going before then as I will only be 5 weeks tomorrow.

How far along are you? As although it's worrying it can sometimes be worse to go before 5 1/2 weeks as it's unlikely to see a heartbeat and may panic you more.

xxx

RetroMum1 · 13/07/2009 14:01

Also forgot to ask was it borwn blood or red?

I have had small amounts of brown blood on wiping for the past week now and this apparently isn't meant to be terrible it's red blood that is the worry.

Although if you ask me it's all worrying!!!

369thegoosedrankwine · 13/07/2009 14:15

Dohpus - some good advice on here already, but I hope that you manage to get the reassurance that you need and I'm sorry that you are going through this.
