Moosy - local baby shop has an opening the store half price offer on them

Scorps · 06/07/2009 13:54

Stigaloid - mine is the 7th August, 4 weeks Friday.

Moosy · 06/07/2009 14:24

Oooh, they don't so online too do they? I'm not a million miles from you I think (was it you whose DH was in MPH after a trip to Thailand or somewhere?) but it's a bit far to go for nappies!

My scan in on 22nd July.

Scorps · 06/07/2009 14:38

I live in West Cornwall, but yes DH ended up in a hospital in Somerset after Thailand the poor boy

I don't think they have online shopping, have a look at Cornwall baby and car seat centre.

Moosy · 06/07/2009 14:45

Ah good, I'm glad I didn't make that up and end up looking strange (hope he's ok btw, what was wrong with him?). They don't seem to do online

Scorps · 06/07/2009 14:47

He got a mosquito bite infected - add that together with water festival out there and 14 hoursw on a plane, it turned in to an egg size cyst thing and the poor boy had to have it cut out under GA . He has a little scar now and is v proud

Moosy · 06/07/2009 14:48

Aaah, poor him! Glad he's ok though, it is a good hospital

Scorps · 06/07/2009 14:49

He seemed fine there, just desperate to see us - we hadn't seen him for 3 weeks by then

He is off to Greece in just over 3 weeks, hope i cope ok! The faintness has gone now, so feeling very normal thank god.

anniebigpants · 06/07/2009 19:38

Evening, hope all well. My 20 week scan is on Wednesday, looking forward to seeing babs again, hoping to find out the sex.

SarahL2 · 06/07/2009 20:38

Well, the meeting with the Birth Afterthoughts lady has left me feeling better but didn't totally relieve my fears for this birth.

Feel a bit more in control - know I will never let them give me a stretch and sweep or an induction again so now I just need to decide if I fancy giving a VBAC a try or opt now for another section. I've got another month till my consultant appointment so I'll be giving it a lot of thought in the meantime...

Glad you feel better Sarah. Hope they managed to adress any concerns you had.
Im hoping for a VBAC this time, we,ll see.

SarahL2 · 06/07/2009 21:37

Just called my Mum to tell her what they said and ended up in tears at the realisation at how close we came to losing DS... We were so, so lucky

Milliemuffin · 06/07/2009 21:55

Sorry to change the conversation briefly but just wondering if anyone has been kicked/punched/had their belly sat on by their little ones? DS (he's 2) went to get down off the sofa and put his hand right on baby and yes it did hurt, only briefly but still. Anyone else had similar?

Also, I think a couple of seconds after I felt my first baby kick/punch. Not really ideal circumstances but it was definitely something.

SarahL2 · 06/07/2009 22:03

Was joking just today that I need bump armour!

DS is forever leaning on me or trying to jump on me. He's only hurt me once but I'm being very careful

Scorps · 07/07/2009 10:35

Millie - they are so protected, through your skin, the amniotic fluid, etc, don't worry

Annie - thats exciting!! just over 4 weeks to wait here.

Devongirl · 07/07/2009 11:03

My DS has an amazing knack of elbowing me either in the stomach or norks, both incredibly painful, but when you realise how hard a doctor/midwife presses on you just to feel the uterus it puts that into perspective - my doc really pushed hard the other day.

Sarah, glad it went as well as could be expected, it's only natural to feel worried about the labour after going through that - sounds virtually the same as my labour with thankfully the same result.

I have pretty much decided to go for a scheduled CS which will be at 39 weeks, but to try everything I possibly can to get baby to come from 38 weeks - midwife said if I turn up in labour and all is going well then they're going to obviously let me carry on but will be more alert that a CS may still be needed. I don't want to give up the chance of a natural birth if it is at all possible but then again I don't want to go overdue. My due date is 12/12, and they won't induce me, so I would end up having a CS at 2weeks+ which would be boxing day - and I don't want that at all. My way sounds like a good plan to me! But I still have to see what the consultant says in a couple of weeks.

My blood pressure feels like it's back to normal today and I can actually stand up without feeling like I'm going to faint immediately, hooray!

Sorry about long post x

SarahL2 · 07/07/2009 11:09

Very well put Devongirl! I hadn't thought about how hard the doctors and midwives press - definitely much harder than a 2yo can manage! Hope it reassures MillieMuffin too.

An elective section would also mean a Dec 20th(ish) birth for DC2 rather than sometime around the 27th! Scarily close to Christmas and New Years!!

Milliemuffin · 07/07/2009 11:29

Thanks for the reassurance ladies.

I've just received my nuchal results in the post... 1:6000. Pretty good I suppose but doesnt make you worry any less. I keep asking my mum about her pregnancies but they knew so little then, don't know if that's a good or bad thing! Was certainly less to worry about back then! Sometimes I think I read too much and therefore have so much more to worry about. Can you tell I'm feeling down this morning, very hormonal, my boyfriend leaving for work in a mood didnt help

Scorps · 07/07/2009 11:31

I didn't get my number, just a letter saying low risk, though i expect the MW will tell me next week.

1:6000 is very very low indeed!

Devongirl · 07/07/2009 12:18

That sounds great Millie - mine is 1:150 for my age (38) but was adjusted to 1:3500 after all the tests and weight, not smoking, not drinking etc was taken into account so that's pretty good. I think all pregnancies are a reason for 9 solid months of worrying about something or other, I'm sure it's only natural.

I definitely worried more last time though - and I agree it was probably because I was reading every single book I could get my hands on - too much knowledge is definitely a BAD thing! This time I just don't have time to (or the need I suppose).

Try and relax, if you're feeling down just have a good cry, then pick yourself up and do something that will make YOU happy, whatever it is. Hormones go all over the place don't they - I remember bursting into tears at an advert for toilet paper last pregnancy, very odd!

BlueChampagne · 07/07/2009 16:29

Milliemuffin 1:6000 is great. We were 1:500 with DS1 after nuchal which went down to about 1:250 after triple test bloods. He seems to have turned out OK. If you had a racehorse that was likely to be 6000:1 you'd give up training it right away!

Oddly enough better odds 2nd time round, and now I'm 40! Hope you're feeling chirpier now.

Milliemuffin · 08/07/2009 08:53

Still feeling this morning, bloody hormones, cant shake it! xx

SarahL2 · 08/07/2009 09:33

I thought I was over my morning sickness enough to get dressed before breakfast this morning...

I was wrong

LaDiDaDi · 08/07/2009 10:57
