He's asleep now but i'm wide awake!!

tinkisback · 04/07/2009 09:37

hope u got some more sleep kay good luck with the cakes does ds2 usually feed in the night still?

i am off to town need to sort dd1s glasses and get her feet measured

Kayzr · 04/07/2009 09:44

No he normally never feeds in the night.

Diege · 04/07/2009 09:46

Morning! Lots of nocturnal activity on here I see! God luck with the cakes KAYZ - I think I would be quite cross about people not bothering to reply if that's the case. Hope you get your rest
SES, every hour sounds draining, poor you. Have vague memories of it being the sane with dd1, and how exhausting that was. Good that ds will settle so well with dh though. BTW, found some (still in date) benadryl in cupboard and seem to to be working much better than the piriton - not sure why!
Pretty exhausted here too - ds up a lot due to getting out of swaddle, finally waking for good at 5ish. I got out of bed and came downstairs to let dh sleep (ok, the boden sale's on and I thought it wouldn;t harm to look, though my internet connection was down )but will be up now for the duration I think. Another school fair this afternoon - hope rain stays off!
Agree about Murray - looking forward too to the finals today and tomorrow.
Back later x
Oh LBOX have found cd and will pop in post either this morning or Monday

tinkisback · 04/07/2009 13:06

have been into town got atlantas glasses sorted out. went into clarks to get her feet measured have got bigger is a 6f so got doodle trainers in sale for £8 really pleased

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 04/07/2009 13:37

Hi! It was a bit draining every hour but still co-sleeping so I didn't have to physically get out of bed.
DS hasn't settled so well on DH ever before and DH was finding it hard so I'm really pleased for them both. Hope it continues!

Watching the tennis this afternoon (I hope Venus wins) but also trying a big tidy up as we're hosting our NCT reunion bbq tomorrow afternoon. DH is currently cutting the grass and I'm currently feeding DS whilst looking round at everything else that needs doing

Diege · 04/07/2009 14:00

Hi TINK and SES! Sounds like a bargain there TINKS - my dds live in doodles in the summer
SES, don't get too shattered with the NCT preparation! Hope the weather holds for you; sounds a fun day planned. I'm also watching the tennis - also supporting Venus
How are you finding feeding while co-sleeping? Just asking because I tried to feed J last night (well, early hours of this morning) and found bf lying down really uncomfortable (think he was nipple needing - ouch!). Calmed him down more than anything else really, but don;t think he got much out!
Right, feed time again!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 04/07/2009 14:04

Diege - definitely find it more deifficult to get a good latch lying down. I normally try and do a good feed sitting up at around 3am.

DS has now fallen asleep on my lap. I may risk trying the moses basket so I can get some lunch...

Kayzr · 04/07/2009 14:24

Hello!!

I have decorated the cake and started the cupcakes!!

Here are some more pics.

Diege · 04/07/2009 14:33

Wow KAYZ those cakes look yummy - love the colour!
Good luck with lunch SES - you must be starving by now! Will think of you at 3am as that's when J wakes up for his feed, though I have a bottle ready as can;t trust myself not to fall asleep if bf!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 04/07/2009 15:57

Well he didn't settle in his basket but I left him whilst I quickly made myself a cheese sandwich. He has just finished a half hour stretch in his bouncy chair though! I managed to get ba bit of ironing done!

Diege (and anyone else that BFs lying down) - I think feeding lying down does tend to give DS a bit of wind. Does anyone else find that?

Also am thinking of packing my maternity clothes away (until next time ), does anyone have experience of using those clear bags that you vacuum down in size? Are they any good? Are they moth proof?

Kay - that cake looks good and the cup cakes are decorated beautifully!

Diege · 04/07/2009 16:37

Hi SES - yes, have used those vacuum bag things in my more organised phases - ok, and leave you feeling very smug , though have since given into the lure of the black binsack in the loft...
Re: bf lying down, don;t think J is taking that much milk in in that position that he would have wind anyway, but would make sense that lying down would increase wind I presume (imaging the equivalent with bottle feeding).
Thought tennis was much of a muchness, though wasn't really watching that avidly. Looking forward to match tomorrow, though have visitors so won't really be able to put telly on
Hope everyone is well - quiet today! Oh and we must start LBOT's syndicate soon!!

GYo · 04/07/2009 18:30

Hello Everyone

Great cakes Kay

Hi Ses- hope your BBQ prep is going ok.

Diege, I tried lying down feeding at the start and found it hard as the SG needed so much help getting latched. Tried it again about about 2 months was better but now at 3.5mth she will latch on perfectly herself, so definately think it improves with age.

I found it uncomfy so started a thread on it, will post a link in a sec in case its of help to you.

Not sure about the wind thing, though i do get lazy with the winding when lying down as i tend to doze

Ses- quick question taking advantage of your knowledge. Do I need to wipe of the thrush cream from nipples before I feed DD? I dont see any residue but have been wondering if I should give them a rinse.

Hi Tink- great about the trainers (glad tink is back!)

GYo · 04/07/2009 18:41

here is that thread Diege

HERE

tinkisback · 04/07/2009 19:06

i am really pleased with shoes. she doesnt get on with other doodles with straps
these should be ok.
girls did there flower plate had brackens foot prints in pink in middle of her plate and painted petals alternate pink and green then painted her name and the date on petals, dd1 did one hand print in the centre of hers in purple and painted the rest of the plate
great cakes kay luv the shade of blue make me hungry luv buns

Diege · 04/07/2009 20:01

GYO that thread is so intersting and very useful - thank you so much for linking! At the moment am trying it early morning (5.30-6ish) when he's awake, grouchy, but not starving. It stops him from screaming the house down and waking the dds up! Agree, the latch bit is tricky - feels like I'm trying to shove my boob in his mouth from any direction .
Will put a few more pics of J up on profile while I remember!

Diege · 04/07/2009 20:28

New piccies up - he does look 'hard' in them

GYo · 05/07/2009 04:13

hello

am i alone on the nightshift today?

Diege- great pics, J is gorgeous. Do your DDs like having a little brother?

Glad the thread was helpful. The other thing i did was shove a part rolled muslin under my boob to lift it off the sheet. Put it at a better height for SG to latch herself. Must depend on norkage though, mine are relatively small at 36d (huuuuge for me )

im really struggling to drink enough fluid at the moment and am permanently thirsty. Must be side effect of bfing in the heat.

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/07/2009 04:42

Hi GYo! Just finishing night shift here. Bit later than usual!
I also found that thread you linked an interesting read thank you. Think I'll try that rolled up muslin trick.
Just remembered I think you asked me about washing off the thrush cream before feeding. If it's Daktarin oral gel, you don't have to wash it off - it will be effective for your nipples but can also be used to treat oral thrush in babies. Anything else is best to apply after a feed and if you're concerned there may still be some not fully absorbed into the skin by the next feed or you've applied more in the interim, then it would be best to wash off - a wet flannel may do the trick but try to keep your breasts cool & dry as thrush likes a moist, warm environment.

Diege - J looks adorable and as if he's thriving well

We're just about set for BBQ later. Just some vacuuming to do!

SesHasFinallyBecomeAMum · 05/07/2009 04:48

I started typing that at 4.20! Oops!

Kay - if I don't get back on, hope the christening goes really well.
Ours is now definitely booked for 16th August. DH's parents have booked flights to come and stay with us for 10 days and we also have 2 of his sisters and a nephew staying for the weekend! Not quite sure where they are all going to sleep!!

Starshinetiger · 05/07/2009 07:26

Morning all - second morning running, up at 6am after 2 hourly feeds all night... Really need to get DD to learn to fall asleep on her own, rather than needing the boob, but am just too tired to get organised and do it IYKWIM!!

Sorky - if you're lurking, how is Elizabeth Pantley working out for you? Hoping to do my log today, so I can then start trying techniques from tomorrow.

Kayz - cakes look yummy - enjoy Christening today.

Ses - yay for organising Christening, ours is 23rd August, but have yet to get invitations out! I also have problems with wind when I feed DD lying down. Have to admit that at about 8 or 10 weeks, I stopped feeding her lying down, as she was just sicky afterwards due to wind, now I only feed lying down if I'm absolutely exhausted - like this morning, 5.50am feed was lying down, otoh I was pretty sure she wasn't going to go to sleep afterwards - she didn't, so I picked her up and she had a ginormous burp after each side. Can't give any help I'm afraid, except to say that I manage to burp her better and get her resettled in cot when I feed her sitting up, even at night.

Diege - Jacob is gorgeous, but admit he does look hard!!

Glad to see Tink back!!

Bumpy - cross-posted with you the other day. Sorry DD is so naughty/upset. Can only empathise with you, as have been through this with DS - he wet through last night. Think it is part and parcel of having a new sibling. Don't have any answers, but have long since given up on maintaining my housekeeping standards for the time being in favour of playing with DS and having lots of cuddles.

at GYo and any other lurkers.

tinkisback · 05/07/2009 08:22

morning

have a great day kay

Kayzr · 05/07/2009 16:05

Hello!!

Quick post as I am very tired!! Christening went well and no screaming from DS2. Little bit annoyed as SIL made a bloody cake as she doesn't like fruit cake, which is why I made the cupcakes. But apart from that it was brilliant!!

Kayzr · 05/07/2009 18:52

Christening pics!!

tinkisback · 05/07/2009 18:56

christening pics look great kay looks like a great day. saw the other cake did wonder who made it that is annoying!!
