GYo, just a thought, if you're out and about, and therefore can't do lying down feeding to achieve 'coolness', you might try using a cotton pillowcase instead of a muslin, I know they are both made of cotton - I just seem to find it a cooler material, IYKWIM?
Also agree with NJ that water's not really necessary if she's still feeding well, as long as she's still producing loads of wet nappies, you'll know she's getting enough. Don't worry about the number of poos though, this will slow down whilst the milk 'thins' to provide more liquid than fat. If you are worried, a little cooled boiled water wouldn't hurt. (Def not mineral water though as its not good for them apparently).
Kayz and NJ, driving lessons sound good, having visited chez-NJ I can totally see why having a car would be like a break for freedom!
Hope you've all had good days. DS is cuddled up right next to me on the sofa - he doesn't seem to feel the heat - I've had to tear my fleecey blanket (kept on the back of the sofa for cold winter evenings) away from him as he was starting to glow!
Also, I clearly spoke too soon about weeing in the potty - since he's been home we've had two wee accidents and one poo . Ho hum, on the plus side, the poo was very fresh when he announced it so no staining on the pants and the wee's were more like leakages than full on accidents, so no need for carpet cleaning - phew! its too hot for that!
My folks are arriving soon for the weekend, so don't be surprised if I fall off the radar for the next few days - we're starting on the conversion of our spare room to a new bedroom for DS.
Its going to be a mammoth task, starting off with emptying it, then stripping wall paper, the nasty polystyrene coving, the woodchip paper off the ceiling (I know - the ceiling!!), DH is going to re-route the pipework for the radiator so it runs under the floorboards, oh, new skirting board too. I'm not going to let him take the door off though until he's put the door on the 'nursery'. Its been leaning in the doorway for the past THREE YEARS!!! Then we're going to cove, sand and fill the walls, put new skirting board in, paint, new carpet and RELAX.
Well, almost, I expect we'll have to buy new furniture too, and that will be flatpack. The joys
