OMG CalypsoFlame - I was at the yoga class at St Thomas' as well!! I was the one who came in late, wearing navy tracksuit trousers. Which one were you?? (You don't have to tell me if you dont' want to 'reveal' yourself....) I guess if you have a conference on Thursday you won't be there this week, though. i'm really enjoying the classes and definitely find the stretches helpful. I feel so much more energised afterwards. I've paid for another three, and will have the last one the day before I go on mat leave.
There are two birthing units at St T's though. The HfH is for natural, uncomplicated births but for epidurals, interventions or any kind of surgery, you would be transferred to the Hospital Birth Unit. Depending on why you'd been transferred there, you might therefore end up in the Birth Unit. We didn't get to see that, but apparently the rooms are just the same. Howver, you don't get the views, visiting hours are more restricted and you get transferred to the Postnatal Ward rather than staying in your own room after the birth. Which hospital are you planning to give birth in?
Thanks for the RLT tips everyone. Might have to get some on the way home. I'm 34 weeks tomorrow so it sounds like a good time to start.
Wrote my birth plan last night. Kept telling DH that I needed to do it, and then putting it off, but he sat me down and made me do it. He found this for me, which was quite helpful. It's only a few bullet points on one side of A4, but it felt quite reassuring to have it all written down.
HC - it was my midwife who suggested I do it, and it was also said by the midwife at last week's antenatal class. TBH I can't imagine not having the opportunity to discuss all the issues verbally at the time of the delivery, so I don't think it's that important. I think for first time mums, it's a good way to make you think about your choices and the issues before you go in, but you'll be familiar with all this stuff already as it's your third, so you probably don't need one.
