Hi Turtle did you have a good time?

I haven't got much to report today: the sun is shining, my mailbox is too big, DS1 has suddenely found the joy of reading which is wonderful, DS2 wants to eat a ketchup buttie for breakfast, the cat are driving me mad. That's about it! Off to school now

skorpion · 12/06/2009 09:03

Finally managed to catch up... phew

becky, koumak - thanks for the citrus tips, I'll definitely try it. I have four little plants that give off a scent that cats are supposed to hate, but I'm not sure they're big enough (the plants that is). Thanks also for all other tips, these bloody animals are driving me mad, they've already ruined my lovely crop of onions.

Welcome back easyeggs and turtle

Had my 16 wk appointment yesterday and heard the sprout's heartbeat. Quite emotional, wasn't expecting to almost break to tears. Can't wait for the first movement.

laugs I find that I'm OK during the day but become starving in the evening and could eat, eat, eat! Thank gods for the strawberry season.

Hope you have a nice day. Better go do some work now.

katster37 · 12/06/2009 10:43

Skorpion aaaw on hearing the heartbeat. I can't wait for my 18 week appointment where they listen to it, although I am really scared they won't find it...

Laugs poor you ending up in hospital at 24 weeks - that is exactly the sort of thing I would do!

BeckyBendyLegs I also watched 'May COntain Nuts' - so funny!

My only news is that, on top of fainting and chest infection, it now appears I have some kind of tummy bug which is giving me diarrhoea Was up 3 times in the night, and tummy is not good this morning. V v gurgly and horrid. I am not nauseous and no tummy ache though so do you think it is OK baby-wise? As far as I know it can only be harmful is if it's caused by salmonella or listeriosis, right? And a few children in my class were sent home on Monday and Tuesday with tummy ache and diarrhoea so I reckon it's a bug. Just what I need!!! Seriously, you would think I was a really unhealthy person in real life - I eat healthily (mostly), exercise, don't smoke etc and I am getting EVERYTHING!!!

lemontop · 12/06/2009 10:50

Haven't been on for a while. So many messages! Am a bit out of the loop. can't possibly comment on everyone but hope you're all doing well.

I'm still having spotting on and off which is a constant source of worry however ninjacat I was told I had an ectropian before I was pregnant and had mid month bleeding etc / was sent for TV scans so am hoping spotting might be due to that. Can't believe I (or non of the healthcare people) didn't think of that as a possible cause!

Other than that I'm feeling ok. Am quite congested in the mornings so spend my first part of the day coughing and spitting (so gross!)

I've become addicted to tomatoes and even now at 10.30 in the morning am thinking about eating tomatoes!

Organising the wedding is a bit stressful and I'm a bit worried about flying to Cyprus for my honeymoon at 26 weeks but just hope things will word out. roll on 22 week scan on 6th July!

scarlotti · 12/06/2009 12:02

Hello all

Have to take Ds for his booster jab this afternoon - poor lamb has no idea what's coming. I've told him it will feel like a big pinch and then be ok but you just don't know how they'll take it. I suspect I'll feel like the worst mum in the world at 1:30.

On the plus side though it means I have the afternoon off with my boy!!

kaster our immune systems are repressed during pg so that we don't attack the baby etc. Flip side means that we catch anything that's going. Am sure your bean is fine, make sure you keep your fluids up though.

Hope everyone else is well.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2009 12:42

Katster sounds like you have caught it off your poorly class? I'm sure you'll be fine - I get those sort of bugs sometimes thanks to hanging out with small children a lot. They are horrible.

lemontop I was addicted to tomatoes with DS2. He hates them now!

It is the Shrewsbury carnival tomorrow - I'm excited!

sleeplessinthecity · 12/06/2009 13:00

Hey All,

Congrats Easyeggs!! and welcome back to you and lemontop Hope the wedding plans are going ok.

Had a lovely lovely day with DD yesterday..she was so happy and good.. Today she woke up the spawn of Lucifer! oh well..can't have good days all the time..

I thought the immune system improves when preggers...shows you how much I know.. I used to catch everything before having DD, now its improved a huge deal..maybe its because I eat more..

scarlotti don't worry just give him a big treat and you'll both feel a lot better. Its more stressful for us then them!

skorpion · 12/06/2009 14:00

katster - get better soon, sorry to hear you're poorly.

I'm seeing a preg yoga instructor on Monday, can't wait. I think I might be the only one in the class she's opening so far. Should be fun.

Not really feeling much different, ie pregnant lately... Just suffering awful hayfever, makes me feel permanently hungover.
I really hoped that some hormone magic happened as it didn't come on until late May, but no, it's out with a vengence!

lemontop - not long to go now to the wedding, must be exciting. Wishing you a fantastic day, the honeymoon should be lovely.

Koumak · 12/06/2009 14:40

Is Mrs. Bossy around (sorry but I really like that) Pavlov my I ask your legal advise please ? again? I was wondering if anyone knows when we actually have to start maternity leave. As in the latest? My EDD is still set as 28 Oct even though I KNOW this baby is not going to come out way into November. Why do they always insist on calculating on 28 days? As my maternity is rather pathetick I need to postpone it as much as possible. Best would be the actual birth? Is there a law we have to stop by EDD or not?

also i only seemed to be thinking about food!!! i am so hungry all the time. the worst thing is i know i am getting big...

katster37 · 12/06/2009 15:23

Koumak I think we have to start on EDD at the latest...

Koumak · 12/06/2009 15:27

damn i was afraid that might be the case! thanks though

Tamlin · 12/06/2009 15:41

The good thing about having your immune system suppressed is that a lot of women find conditions like Crohn's go away during pregnancy. (Gosh, it's a weird state to be in!)

Koumak, you might find that you really do relish a week or two of quiet before going into labour. I think most of us slow down massively in those last few weeks.

My friend's in labour right now. She texted me grumpily early this morning to say she'd headed off to the hospital in labour only to be told that she was only 2 cm, and go away - so she was sitting in a cafe sulking with her husband eating breakfast next to her! Actually, come to think of it, I hope she's DONE with labour and holding her baby right now...

Koumak · 12/06/2009 15:49

i know tamlin but i was hoping to stretch it as much as poss

Ninjacat · 12/06/2009 18:03

Just wanted to say thank you all for your support.
I like the letter idea but unfortunately Ex does not take kindly to suggestions made by me but will see if suggesting it to his mother who can suggest it to him will work.

Lemontop Fingers crossed for you it is the ectropian.

ursigurke · 12/06/2009 18:15

Internet at home broke down and I'm sitting in a Starbucks with my (very heavy) laptop, trying to catch up on emails and posts on this thread - it is just impossible. And I can be pretty sure that we won't have internet acces for a while (as it is my husband who has to take care of it)
I hope you are all fine, it is just too much for me to read everything.
I'm fine, just tired because of work, will probably sleep during the whole weekend.

Ninjacat · 12/06/2009 19:06

If one more person nods, winks and says "valentines day, eh?" I think I may have to claim pg rights and whack em one. Or just tell them the truth "no, valentines day was just the first day of my last period" that might shut them up.

Even mother in law has said it. UGHHH!!!

skorpion · 12/06/2009 19:15

ninja It was DH's b'day for us, but it is not taken up as a joke publicly.

We did think it would be hilarious to do a Beckham and name the kid after the place where the twinkle in the eye came true. A town in Belgium.

skorpion · 12/06/2009 19:18

I hasten to add we're not going for the idea.

Don't you think that Brooklyn, when he grows up, is just going to say: eeuurgh, too much information, thanks dad!

Ninjacat · 12/06/2009 19:22

TMI indeed for a young boy.
Imagine being born in Nov and called Valentine. Ugh ugh ugh you would never get over it!

Tamlin · 12/06/2009 19:44

DS was a New Year's Eve conception, but we refrained from naming him Auld Lang Syne. Or Too Much Red Wine, come to think of it.

I only have the dimmest notion when this one was conceived. I'm pretty sure it was on an evening when I was chronically sulking because DH had missed my ovulation window. (Or - not. Remind me never to take up charting as a proper method of contraception because apparently I am crap at it.)

wook · 12/06/2009 21:10
  • takes deep breath-
-waves!- Can I join please?! I have decided to take the plunge after lurking for ages- I have to start believing that this baby is going to stick! I'm apparently now due on 31st October, but was originally due on 2nd November, so consider myself a November person!! Have a ds of 3 and 3/4 and had two mcs last year, hence the fact that I have not dared to post until now! I thought that dc 2 was never going to happen and first response to that pink line on the test was to burst into tears and think oh no, I can't face losing another one...! I still don't think I have quite lost that feeling of insecurity even now, despite a big bump, an extra stone in weight, and a baby who kicks like mad day and night to let me know s/he's still there!! 20 week scan on Monday...
grace09 · 12/06/2009 21:30

Welcome to wook and congratulations! Very impressed with your ability to lurk for so long!! I lasted about a week i think! I am expecting my first after two mc so can completely empathise with all you're going through. I am still convinced, despite all the obvious signs, that i'm actually not pregnant or something is seriously wrong that i just don't know about yet. Lots of the other lovely ladies on here have been through similar experiences. It's a great place for support. There's another thread that i still lurk on sometimes called knickercheckers anonymous which is also really helpful, if you haven't found it already!

Hi to everyone else and wishing you a lovely weekend. Promise to catch up properly at some point over the weekend. Off to watch BB

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/06/2009 22:35

Hello Wook! Welcome to the mad house!

I've just watched BB and have been working all evening. I am soooo overworked It's all money in the bank but I am exhausted now. Better go to bed...

My period arrived on valentines day too Ninjacat - was a real romance killer! Seems yonks and yonks ago now. DH and I had a Chinese and went to see Revolutionary Road at the cinema (hardly the most romantic film to see when TTCing given what it is about but still...).

Better go now. Need sleep zzzz.
