Pavlov - as you already seem to have suits, would it be worth to try with a bumpband? I have never actually tried them but if you have a neutral suit and combine it with a white or black top or blouse, a white or black bump band would probably be ok? And just for a new top (if you need it already), you will still have a few occasions to wear it.

PavlovtheCat · 07/06/2009 14:24

Katster - i have thought of that too! trousers are only £20 and i will use em again so yes fine to keep those.

thing with the jacket, i think it has a tag on the wrist? I will take a look - I will be driving there, and driving back on my own so I can take it off in the car, therefore hopefully will only be wearing it for about 1 hour.

If its hot, thats a different story as I will be all sweaty [eeeew] .

its not being cheapskate, desperate needs call for desperate measures I would not normally even consider it either, but its such a lot of money for 1 hour and I should not even have to go!

PavlovtheCat · 07/06/2009 14:26

Ah, a bump band! Why did i not think of that?!! my suits are mostly with jackets that will cover the zip area, so that could work, but they will likely fall down with the zip undone...now that would be embarrasing! I could try a waist expander, you just gave me the idea!

PavlovtheCat · 07/06/2009 14:46

Nope waist expanders and a bump belt wont work . All my suit trousers are hook and eye, then flat panel button on side slightly for that 'flat' look, and the waist expanders only work with buttons so I have seen. Bump belt will not work on its own, as trousers will fall down if not done up!

ursigurke · 07/06/2009 14:47

just imagining you at court explaining something very serious and with a very serious face when suddenly your trousers fall down... you should probably avoid that

PavlovtheCat · 07/06/2009 14:52

Ursigurke I would just want the ground to swallow me up!

hobnob57 · 07/06/2009 16:35

Pavlov, my suit trousers are hook and eye and I kept them up with a small elastic hairband of DD's looped through either the metal eye bit or buttonhole and doubled back over the hook. It worked ok for a while, but I'm now beyond that I think. But you're slim, right? A hairband and a bump band should work ok, especially if you're standing still most of the time.

PavlovtheCat · 07/06/2009 16:37

Oh hobnob you star, that could work! I am still slim, but I fear not for long as I am now eating, starting to fill out quite quickly! I shall give that a try before spending any money. My friend has a bump band I can borrow .

scarlotti · 07/06/2009 16:39

pavlov was going to suggest getting the jacket and taking it back too (kaster it's not just you!)

If it's a next one then it will have a wrist tag, but that will be stiched on. Unpick the stitching, wear it then stitch the wrist tag back on. I think you'll be fine if you only put it on when you get out of the car and wear it in court. If you're concerned then wear a t-shirt on the way and change into your blouse when you get there - baby wipes are always handy for freshening up too!

Had a lovely day today, took ds to a birthday party at a local farm and the weather was glorious! Was lovey. Ds now having a rare nap and dh working upstairs - you could hear a pin drop here, most rare!!

PavlovtheCat · 07/06/2009 16:45

Scarlotti - a birthday party at a local farm? I am intrigued! Tell me more! What it is about, what kind of farm, is it organised or was it a friend's farm? If organised, what did they do?

DD LOVES animals and its her birthday in a month. It is not too late to change plans!

Broodzilla · 07/06/2009 17:18

Hi all,

Came in to shelter from the rain and catch up with you all! Starting to wonder if DH reads this thread as after my last post he came home and asked how I was feeling and how the bump was doing!
Becky a bit late in the game, I know, but my SIL works in fashion and recently told me to wear beige/tan/nude (whatever the current name for that colour is...) with a dress that was a similar colour to yours.
Pavlov speaking of dresses, could you wear a smart, conservative dress with a jacket in court? I've just been through my wardrobe and dresses are far easier to squeeze in to!

the Bean has been having kick-boxing sessions, and last night as I lifted my top up to check, DH actually saw a kick from 3 feet away as my belly poked outwards! Seeing as it seems 19 wks is quite early to even feel movement, I'm now wondering about the fluid levels... (I am a chronic worrier...) I'll try to not obsess about it too much, have a scan on Friday anyway.

Hope you all have a lovely, cozy Sunday!

ursigurke · 07/06/2009 17:29

Broodzilla - It's my first pregnancy and I felt the first movements at 16 weeks, and I saw it from outside yesterday. I think it really depends where the baby is at this particular moment and how thin your skin/muscle/fat at this part of your body is. And probably how strong the movement was. I wouldn't worry about the fluid level.
Glad to hear that your husband became more interested. I think sometimes they are more interested than we realise. They just don't always talk about it.

ursigurke · 07/06/2009 17:49

Ok, I just found a chart about the average babysize. I am supposed to have already a almost 25cm long and 300g heavy baby with a head diameter of around 5cm. This is clearly impossible! It would never fit in my still rather small belly! In my mind it was still about the size of the scan when it was something like 6cm (ok only crown rump length)

BeckyBendyLegs · 07/06/2009 18:01

Broodzilla not too late! I haven't got any shoes yet and I did see a pair of tan ones I liked in Office yesterday...so I'll go back for second look!

Laugs · 07/06/2009 18:54

Hi all,
I'm a big bundle of stress today. I had another very small bleed last night and had to go into hospital. They couldn't find any cause, but took my blood to see if I would need the anti D again (I only had it 2 weeks ago, because of a different, very small bleed). Anyway, they rang me up this morning to go back in as they needed more blood. It turns out they had found antibodies in my blood (even though I'd had the anti D), so they need to assess how much exchange of blood cells thee has been between me and the baby. They said they'd get back to me asap. I am trying very very hard not to google this as I don't think I'll like what I find.

Anyway, I'm trying to think of anything else....

I'm planning to take my mind off things with the Apprentice final. I'm rooting for Yasmina.

We have this enormous new TV someone gave us off freecycle as ours blew up on friday. It is only two years old- I can't actually believe they've given it away. I'm quite embarrassed by the size of it though.

pavlov what about something like a black dress with a white shirt underneath? If you have H&M they have a good selection of office wear.

katster hope you're feeling better.

ursigurke · 07/06/2009 19:43

Laugs - sorry to hear that you had such a stressful day. But I'm sure that you are in good hands and they will take good care of you and your baby.

katster37 · 07/06/2009 19:45

Laugs you poor thing, but try not to worry - they'll just give you another shot of anti-D. I read quite a lot on rhesus negative and even if the bloods mix, it is extremely unlikely anything bad would happen. Try not to worry.

Pavlov yay for trouser solutions!!

Usigurke I was reading a chart today too - madness. Although at 16 weeks mine is only supposedly 150grams which seems not very much considering I've put on 5 pounds!!

Broodzilla that's fab that you can see the movements!! And not an indication of fluid levels at all. I'm sure it just means the baby was in a position for you to be able to see it. Also glad DH taking an interest.

Just eaten fajitas. Had mad spicy food moment and made DH trail round 4 local shops on the hunt for yoghurt and spices!! Poor thing, think he was scared to come back without the required ingredients!

Trikken · 07/06/2009 20:11

Hi all, you've all written lots today! Had a really unsuccessful day shopping for maternity clothes. only found two shops which actually did maternity clothes.

Laugs · 07/06/2009 20:56

katster they said that if there are antibodies they wouldn't be able to do anything about it, except monitor more closely? But they didn't explain much really. Maybe I should read more and be reassured, but I'm worried in case I read something bad. I was hoping they'd call with the results tonight but I doubt they will now.

Anyway, off to take my mind off things with The Apprentice. By the way, I can't believe Gordon Brown has appointed Siralan as an advisor or something! The world has gone reality tv mad!

pinkfizzle · 07/06/2009 23:57

I got home and made it to watch the apprentice,

8 million people (aparently) watch the apprentice, so I now think it was a smart move by GB to get Alan Sugar onboard.

laugs there you go Yasmina won. Her team had the best pitch, branding and a funky choc box imo. i hope the apprentice diverted you from some worry.

I really liked Margaret - as she always seemed so quietly onto it, and now she is leaving to complete her PHD, how cool is that?

I think the idea of a young apprentice for teenagers is a good one.

better go to bed now, or i'll be the one being fired at my early am mtg tom.

BeckyBendyLegs · 08/06/2009 08:11

I was one of the 8 million. It was kind of an anti-climax though I thought. Yasmina's pitch and idea was better but sounded like the chocolates were cack!!!

Can't imagine Nick 'n' Margaret without Margaret.

I've spent a night of anxiety (I am such an over-anxious parent sometimes it is untrue) as DS2 had the trots last night before bed and was complaining about a poorly tummy. Silly, isn't it? He's fine today and running around like his normal self! I think it is because I am pregnant and I'm worried about picking up bugs myself and worried about the baby. I need to get a grip!!!!! I feel sick this morning and I'm sure it is just anxiety-related. Also got a heavy work week this week so that is praying on my mind too.

Laugs fingers crossed that everything will be ok. I'd be the same as you, no googling!

Oh well, another week. Six weeks to go until the Summer holidays for you teachers / fellow mums of school children!

helips · 08/06/2009 08:17

Morning all,

Laugs sorry to hear what you've been going through, hope you get some reassuring news soon.

Trikken it's so hard finding decent maternity clothes! I bought a few things yesterday but nothing particularly exciting. Have ordered a dress from the Topshop website so hopefully that will do for the wedding. It is blue and I wore a similar dress to a wedding a few months ago so have all the accessory's needed to go with it.

Will catch up properly later when ds is having his nap as he doesn't like me being on the computer and keeps trying to take the laptop off my lap or climb on it!

mumsiebumsie · 08/06/2009 09:14

Hello all,

Thank you for the kind welcome. Few people asked if it was my first - yes it is. Am very scared but it's nice to speak to people going through the same thing!

Am getting really bad migranes - was in bed ALL weekend! Trying not to take too many paracetemols so just drinking lots of water as I find it helps. Also getting really restless legs at night which is a bit uncomfortable. But that's all so can't moan too much.

Can't wait to start buying stuff but want to find out gender first I think.

Koumak · 08/06/2009 09:33

ursigurke I second beepbeep petit bateau will have lots of styles of vests from long sleeve, short to no sleeve and with different type of ?doing up? they do have some really cute ones with ribbons should you be having a girl! Or collars that stick out over a dress. I love them.

I haven?t bought anything for the baby yet. But am very tempted. Still waiting to see if it?s really a girl (as per dh and ds request?) or another boy . Can?t justify spending too much as have kept everything but?

Massive thunderstorm just before 7am on Sunday ? am in N London. Ds came to our bed and wouldn?t go back to sleep. Not a great start to Sunday! Likely the rain stopped by lunch time and we went for a lovely walk in the afternoon. Well I did sleep for hour and half before that while ds was watching DVD and dh buried in Sunday times.

Really blocked nose here too and don?t get me started on dreams! Last night it was all about horses, snow and skiing???

Laughs hope everything is ok

Helips which dress did you get? I have been looking at top shop webpage A LOT! I have 2 weddings ? 25 July and 22 august and need to buy two dresses as it?s the same circle of friends and all the people from wedding 1 will be at 2 so cant get away with wearing the same dress twice. What a costly nightmare?

Has anybody seen maternity tights that are not black or purple? Really want some ?natural tan?

What are you thoughts on bringing my ds (4 years old) to the 20 week scan, well actually 22 week scan in two weeks time? I would love him to be there, dh will be there too, I think it could be amazing experience for him and really could help him to bond with his little sibling BUT what it they find something wrong??? Has anybody done this before?

Fruitpastels · 08/06/2009 10:12

Koumak I will be taking my 3.8 yr old ds to the 20 week scan, I'll be 22 weeks by then. He has taken the news of the baby very well so far and want to try and involve him as much as possible. If there was a concern at the scan then we'll cross that bridge if it happens.

I'm sure Mothercare do a range of maternity tights.
