Hello Mums Netters, quick update from Rosielady's husband , we had a little boy at 2.36pm on the 27th May. He was born by C Section and weighed in at 7lb 3oz. Rosielady quite sore and in a bit of pain from section - but generally doing ok. Baby is great and nice and healthy - had his first feed after a few hours and is quite happy snoozing in between. No name as yet for the wee fella, will keep you posted.

frazzledoldbag · 28/05/2009 11:22

oooh mr rosielady - HUGE CONGRATS and thanks for letting us know. That's fab news.

runningmonkey · 28/05/2009 11:33

Thanks reebee really interesting, I know what you mean about the drips so am really hoping that it all kicks off before Tuesday but on the other hand I am soo uncomfortable I know by then I will just want to get on with it too.

MrRosielady huge congrats to the three of you and thanks for letting us know! Lovely news

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 11:40

congrats rosielady and thank you Mr Rosie for letting us know, how lovely

Still up the duff here. Still no signs. Hey-ho.

runningmonkey DD1 is starting Senior School in September, can't wait . She's just gone out with her friends, having had a stern lecture from me. I was a deeply obnoxious teenager (I know, it's hard to believe ) and I am more strict than my mum to try and stop Maia being like me. I shall persevere........ She did fall in a big patch of nettles yesterday though, so our stern conversation did end on a hug.

reebee I'm keen to avoid induction too, because DD2 was induced and came out blue, cold and shocked, due to the speed of the process. And it was substantially more painful (I did only have G&A though, stubborn old mule that I am) than DD1 (but DD1 took well over 30 hours). Also, I just don't really want to go into hospital but I can sense myself wavering as I get more and more overdue

Hope everyone will have beautiful weather to enjoy today, Tesco have Magnums half price, so bought white, classic and almond to eat greedily whilst everyone is out stash away. Yum!

Ah well grumpy on the upside, in school we usually find year 7's are little angels for the first couple of terms as its all so new, they are no longer the 'oldest in the school' and the towering 15-16 year olds make them turn back into lovely little angels until the hormones kick in - that's what my form did anyway (aahhh just realised I miss them ) So you might have a few nice months/terms ahead of you come September before concerns about make-up and boys take over... sorry, that's not really ended up being that helpful has it?!

ooh and ouch at the nettles

Momino · 28/05/2009 12:34

grumpy, should I be worried having 3 DDs about them approaching teenage years? dd1 is a lot of work emotionally at age 3, i shudder to think what she'll be like at 11, at 16, etc. I hope the other 2 are a bit more easy-going.

induction, i had one with dd1's birth at 38 weeks for suspected cholestasis. the good part was that i was in hosp so there were no surprises about when/where waters broke, when contractions started etc. i had an epidural as well after they gave me the drip thing but things went so quickly after that, i barely felt the benefit. i didn't want the induction but would do it again in a flash given the risks for cholestasis on my baby. i also don't think it was as bad as i expected. i got the right result (healthy baby ) in any case.

it's lovely and warm(ish) here, hope it's the same by you.

Momino · 28/05/2009 12:36

running, good luck! hope it all progresses soon.

Mr rosielady, congratulations to you both and hope Mrs and baby ok and recovering. thanks for letting us know.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 12:55

Running I think the fact that they are Yr6 and therefore top of the tree has turned all of Maia's friends into little gits, judging by what their mums say!

Also, she got the lead part in the end of year play and a really good report . I think she's got a wee bit smug. Starting Yr7 will be a real reality check.

Momi I was always a little bit smug about how lovely DD1 was, then she got to 9/10 and started to get gobby and whatnot. It does seem to be a girl thing - the boys just get annoying. Luckily, DD2 is already gobby so no worries there .

I think I have rather created this situation though by encouraging them to think for themselves and be independent, in the belief that it would be good for them.

It does make them infinitely more entertaining and fun to be with, though .

'It does make them infinitely more entertaining and fun to be with, though'

Just thought I'd point out that I have palmed DD2 off onto nursery for the day and happily waved DD1 off to her friend's house, as I couldn't be doing with their chatter and mess-making today.

I am stupidly massively overduley pregnant so I am allowed to be contrary

How are you and M today, Loobs?

Yes I think when girls in particular get to year 6 they need a lot of new challenges, sounds like your dd1 will really enjoy moving up to 2ndary as there are so many opportunities for extra curric stuff as well as all the new subjects to take on too. Generalising massively I think boys take a bit longer to get used to it all, but that reflects the differences in when boys and girls 'grow up' tbh.

oh yeah, you are of course entitled to be as contrary as you like during this time. The more contrary the better imo

Momino · 28/05/2009 13:41

so grumpy, if following your DDs pattern: if my dd is moody/difficult now, she may be opposite to this at 9/10?[hopeful emoticon] i really hope you go into labour soon, g. if anyone deserves to be in labour it's you. not sure that sounds as helpful as i intended.

very quiet here with dd 1&2 at nursery. i wanted to take a bath or nap but instead have done laundry, put away shopping, and contemplating baking (note 'contemplating'). BF at moment, a grand excuse to have a big bowl of ice cream .

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 14:03

Momi that's my theory with DD2! I second the [hopeful emoticon].

I think I'm right in saying that I have the eldest on this thread, with Maia being 11. I hope I'm not unduly worrying anyone - she is actually a tremendously sweet, thoughtful, affectionate and (obviously) gifted, talented and intelligent little thing. It's just that she's also moody, spotty, greasy and secretive with it . I blame the parents.

I'm just finishing an Almond Magnum. Well, it's sunny, innit?

running you are correct - now is precisely the time to be as contrary as I like - who is going to tell me otherwise? Who would want to upset an enormous, hormonal, pregnant hippo? It's great

Blottedcopybook · 28/05/2009 18:19

Congrats rosielady! Grumpy You are infinitely more patient than I am, I'd have planted Findlay like a tree if he'd been cheeky like that to me!

I had a nice wee chatter with DH earlier and was talking over Greer's birth. It was nice - when I was pregnant with Nairn DH was resolute that he didn't want to see the action shot so he stayed right by my head and my leg blocked his view, with Erica I was in the pool on all fours and he was holding my hands so he didn't get to see the action shot but with Greer I was on a bed so when I pushed her head out he got to have a good look at her for a minute until I pushed her out completely. He was being really sweet about it and says that Greer's was the birth he preferred because he was there for the whole thing and got to see her arrive. Awwww

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 18:30

blotted DH was down at the business end for DD2's (very hairy) head coming out. He said it was a surreal and amazing moment. Erm how is your erm arse? Thought I may subject you to waaaaaaay TMI story that may amuse you:

Monday I really, really needed a crp. Went to loo. 1.5* hours later I emerged, sweating, bleeding, dizzy. It was like giving birth. Out of my bum. I got flashing lights, the works. It would not come out, I had to get up and waddle about like John Wayne, I had to grab hold of the side of the bath and do squat thrusts to get it moving (I once had a very long conversation with my brother about the best way to push out a poo. We were drunk, in a pub, and had a captive audience , he demonstrated his patented rockin' motion). The side of the bath was not connected properly and came off. All the time, the dog had her nose to the bottom of the door, whining.

Afterwards, everything was swollen, I kid you not. I couldn't sit down for 2 hours. So, I now have piles before I've given birth.

It could only happen to me.

OP posts:
Blottedcopybook · 28/05/2009 18:55

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahaha!! Well, I crapped yesterday and today and I can still (gingerly) walk but I did spend a good 30-40 minutes on the toilet. I think I only have external piles because there wasn't a huge amount of blood but the straining has set my lochia off again when it had virtually stopped at the start of the week.

I am loving the hell out of Anusol. I might buy shares.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/05/2009 19:10

I thought DH was going to die, he was laughing so much when I told him and demonstrated my squat thrusts.

I think I may have mooed and choo-chooed as well.

Good practice!

I am strangely pleased to hear that you have 'been', I feel like yer mum. It's awful, isn't it, having piles. I know I'm gonna have a right dose of them if and when this lazy baby ever comes out.

I see your Anusol and raise you a tube of Germaloids.

OP posts:
Belgianchocolates · 28/05/2009 20:30

grumpy poos were the same for me at the end of my pregnancy, with the difference that I'd give up after 10mins to come back later, because a continence nurse once scared me with stories of why not to strain. So I ended up walking around being uncomfortable for another few hours, but it did come easily if I waited.

I'm dreading my dd1 becoming a teenager. She's got this stubborn defiant streak, which I fear will cause trouble.

Congrats to rosielady Hope everything is still going well.

reebee I understand why you want to avoid IOL. If baby's OK and you're being monitored, then why not wait and see if you can do it yourself. Good luck. Hope you go into labour soon.

The weather is lovely here too. I'm trying to think where to take the dcs tomorrow to enjoy the weather. Also excited because I can put C in one of her cut girly baby summer outfits

chocolatebunnies · 28/05/2009 21:50

HELLO!!

Still pregnant

My sweep on Friday night failed, had another one at 11am this morning and my god I have never been in so much pain, she said she would be a bit more vigourous to get things going but holy crap Im sure she had her whole arm up here! I had to have a lie down when I got home as I felt so violated, bought me out in a sweat and everything! NEVER AGAIN! I have been bleeding since as well so not exactly a happy bunny here!

Im booked in to be induced on Monday unless I go bang before then, the midwife seems to think I will, but then she did say I wouldnt make it to todays appointment so Im not totally convinced! I wish they wouldn't say things like that, getting my hopes up for diddly squat!

I am planning a home birth but quite frankly I am so sick of waiting that Im willing to be induced to get it out!

I am now the most pregnant I have ever been!

I too am having problems in the pooping department

Congrats to all the new babies

Who's still left on the pregnant band wagon????

LoobyLou36 · 28/05/2009 21:57

loving the poo conversation lol
only on mumsnet could you talk about these things

M very unsettled today, crying lots not sleeping and wanting to feed lots. have Bf till I have none left and she's still crying for more - gave up and topped her up with formula and colief. an hour later I bf her till she finally gave in to sleep, she's been asleep for about an hour now.

FiKelly · 29/05/2009 09:03

my pooing experience at end of this pregnancy was problematic too with the piles.. I had to eat lots of plums to even have a chance of going. I was bf dd when I read the convo and laughed so hard at your description grumpy. in fact I'm surprised dd didn't fly off my tummy and dislodge herself from my nip with the all bouncing my belly did

runningmonkey · 29/05/2009 10:48

Oh my god, brilliant poo convos ladies. Having similar but not quite so extreme issues here too. Have been going for the belgian approach of going back later for another go tho as doing everything I can to try to avoid making piles worse.

choc hello, join the overdue club! I'm going to be induced on Tues if I don't go before then as i just want it to be over and meet lo now.

looby hope M had a good night.

Fi Glad to hear your BF is going well despite the giggling! Have you named DD yet? have been dying to know!

As you can see still here. Had quite a bit more show last night and some tightening when we went for a walk but didn't amount to anything. Think DH was a bit disappointed as he's just as impatient as me.

sophietom · 29/05/2009 10:55

Congrats to Rosielady chocbunnies ouch at your vigourous sweep- lets hope it has the desired effect

Reebee and RunningM thanks for your comments about my failed sweep- I get a second go on Thursday 4th and if that doesn't work it the midwife will book me in for induction. I guess there is still plenty of time for me to go into labour before then though

Momino very impressed at you even contemplating baking whilst looking after a baby thats only a few weeks old

Grumpy lol at your pooing story!!!

C'mon all us ladies who are in for the long haul lets get bouncing on balls, jumping our DPs and guzzling curry- we can't be waiting much longer (unless we decide to go round for another 9 months!)

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 29/05/2009 11:47

Lalalalala

Still PG here. Waiting for MW.

Glad everyone liked my story - I can heartily recommend the squat thrusts. Work a treat. Cannot believe I would so happily tell a group of people that story

I am so bored now. It's beautiful outside and we're stuck waiting for the MW.
