OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chocciedooby · 09/05/2009 18:14

Ermintrude - Had quite a nice day today but far from peaceful Had to entertain the boys alone but DS1 had a birthday party to go to for 2 hours and then 1hr of soccer so it has been quite easy if a little tiring.
I am delighted to have peace in the evenings though. No snoring dh to contend with and the kids have settled really well the last 2 nights giving mummy extra feet up time.

Hope you are enjoying your day.

Naat - Sorry I nearly caused you to choke this morning . Good Luck with your scan on Wednesday.

Hi littlesarah. Sounds like you are still working hard.

Nipple Stimulation for 2-3 hours per day!!!!! How many of us have the time for that?! Hilarious.

Bunnymother - How is your dh coping with his hangover now? I am looking forward to having a few drinks after baby is born but really don't miss the hangovers.yuk.Hope your dinner goes well tonight. Enjoy!

Louise - Hello there. How are you?
Sorry to hear you fainted the other day. Hope you are ok.
I too have put on 15 kgs. Well actually, I am closer to 16kgs now . People are always so polite and say how well I am looking etc but I know that I look like a cross between a beached whale and Mr Greedy. I am craving jelly sweets, ice-cream and things that taste of mint and vinegar. Not sure if that means anything. Anyone else getting any new cravings?

chocciedooby · 09/05/2009 18:18

Hi Laura - sorry I have missed you in my other posts.
I too am shocked at how that MW treated you. I think you should complain.
It amazes me how these people can be like this in their profession. Having a baby is such an important and precious part of anyones lives and those taking care of our health during pregnancy should understand this and give us the service and care that we deserve. I hope you get a different and much nicer MW next visit. You deserve it.

Naat · 09/05/2009 18:43

HI ladies!

laura I hope you get a better sleep tonight 2hs is nothing, you poor thing

choccie oh! the pleasure of "snoring-less" nights!! Enjoy!! (Last night I woke myself up again with a short but LOUD snore, very ladylike ). The only crazy craving is very very cold water Very boring!!! I wish I had yours!!!

Ineed glad you're having some alone time with DH (although you're working on the house). Thanks for sharing your experience with the injection for the placenta delivery, it's good to know about potential side-effects.

Looouise hi there! Nice to read you again! So sorry to hear you fainted, hon. Are you ok now? Please take care

bunny hope your DH feels better soon... suggest him not to drink tonight if not he'll feel awful tomorrow! Have a great time with your friends tonight!

littleS at your mum's comment!! Poor your DSister... I can see you're pretty busy these days, hope you finish will everything soon so that you're free as a birth when LO comes Yesterday at the AN class at the BC they told us about nipple stimulation as well, but on D-day, not for practice We heard the same at our hypnobirthing sessions. 2-3hs a day for practice does sound a bit too much

Hi MrsMC! How are you? We haven't heard from you in the last few days

This morning DH and I started packing for the move and we did quite a lot, actually. Well, we don't have that much stuff anyway We only left out the clothes we need for these last weeks and the rest is packed! The nursery looks like apocalypse now, of course, but well... The only bad news is that the friends DH contacted cannot help us even though we asked them 3 wks in advance so we resorted to plan B and other friends, two have already said yes so we only need one more

We had an indoor picnic with our friends who were coming and had a lovely time. DH went to throw some balls at the driving range now so I'm resting

(((waves)))

Naat · 09/05/2009 18:50

I uploaded a recent pic of my bump, if you want to see it

Here

As I'm not good with links it might not work, but if you click on my name and go to "pictures" you'll see it

silkcushion · 09/05/2009 19:07

Naat - you're right your link didn't work and yr bump is not on yr profile pictures.

I am that you are moving - you must have either more energy/optimism than me or less common sense.

Loouise - I had the injection as I was tired and wanted it all sorted quickly - was fine didn't know there were potential side effects though.

Hello to everyone else - hope you all had sunny saturdays

Naat · 09/05/2009 19:21

Sorry Silk! I didn't have you in my "MN mates list", try again if you want, I've added you now

Yes, we're moving on 30th May and I'm due 12th June... I mentioned this some time ago, that's why you didn't know. I was fretting about it when I found out we had to move but all Juners gave me lots of support and advice in order to organise everything with time and not worry too much Lovely Juners!

silkcushion · 09/05/2009 19:39

Thanks Naat - I'm very very of your lovely figure. I'm more of a blob with a bigger blob sticking out the front - more to do with pre pg weight though.

I hope you intend to play the 'I'm about to give birth I can't possibly do anything during the move but boss people about' card. If you're all organised and have helpers it all be fine. Are you just moving house or to a new area?

LittleSarah · 09/05/2009 19:45

Looouise - Hope you are looking after yourself after your faint! Lovely to be able to relax with no work though.

I had the injection also. My attitude was I'll have had baby and will want to just be mummy and not wait around to birth placenta... have to admit didn't know about any side effects though! (Plus I'm just lazy). Anyway, I will have it again.

Naat - I'll be trying anything around labour day I think, even a bit of stimulation. Glad to hear packing is not too horrendous.

Choccie - No cravings here except for food generally. I am loving sweet things though!

Think I'me getting a bit a cough/cold thing again, pregnancy has destroyed my immune system!

Getting on better with raspberry leaf tea though since I switched to Heath and Heather variety from Holland and Barrett. It's almost nice actually. I know someone said you need the awful green stuff but this is the stuff I drank last time and had agood labour so think I'll stick the pink!

My dh was out last night too. On the Guiniess. He had to work this morn too numpty. Seems better now finally, and is making haggis, neeps and tatties!

ermintrude13 · 09/05/2009 20:15

Naat love the bump; yours is so neat and little it makes mine look like their must be twins in their at least [grin[]. Glad you're getting ready for the move - don't overdo it.

LittleSarah I've got the 'cheat's' nice raspberry leaf tea too. I really like it and since my last 2 births have been pretty quick I'm hoping I won't be in serious need of something to make contractions faster - in fact, that might get a bit scary .

My placenta delivered itself very promptly both times - with DD I got out of the pool, sat on a birthing stool, put her to the breast and plop! out it came, but the plate beneath the stool was at an angle so it drenched the poor MW in blood and stuff. ]blush]. With DS, I just squatted and gave a little push while my DH held our DS (who promptly pooed meconium all over his arm) and it came out easily. I can imagine that if I was waiting ages and not being able to shower and relax with the new LO I'd ask for the syntometrin. A friend of a friend didn't complete her '3rd stage' for 5 hours and wouldn't allow the MW to help it along. I'd have got bored a long time before then...

Right, I'm off to diddle with my nipples for a couple of hours. (not really)

ermintrude13 · 09/05/2009 20:16

i mean THERE must be twins in THERE. never normally make that mistake; must be regressing

Tee2072 · 09/05/2009 20:17

naat can I see?

Naat · 09/05/2009 20:24

tee how odd, you've been on my mates list for months now Did you click on my name and go to "Naat's pictures"? And nothing at all?

Naat · 09/05/2009 20:29

silk yes, I'll definitely play that card. I'm usually a very busy bee but DH and all the Juners made it very clear: "no work for me!"

Hopefully with 4 men moving things around it'll be done quite quickly, taking into account we're moving 40mt away (from a 2nd floor to a ground floor next door)

ermin very at your speed delivering your placentas! I want the same!

littleS hope you DH feels better soon Enjoy your tea!! I'm not taking anything at all, I can't risk LO arriving before the move

Naat · 09/05/2009 20:34

Oh, I forgot, thanks for the lovely comments re. my bump Everybody keeps telling me "that bump is too small!"

Tee2072 · 09/05/2009 20:42

Oh, yes I can naat! It is a lovely neat bump!

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 09/05/2009 21:26

Argggghhh

Just posted loads and now it's all gone well from the top

Naat- your bump is not too small it's perfectly formed, people have told me mine is smaller this time although from this angle I remain unconvinced!!

Re the circumcision stuff - PMSL at the HUGE in movies comment can't remmenber who it was but

And as for loweering the tone of mn, we really do have so much further to sink before that even comes into the equation, honest girls, for those not on the general boards much it's great !!!

Louise Re the inj I had it both times the first time I retained my placenta and had to have it removed in theatre with a spinal block (not fun) whether or not having the inj made a difference I don't know, and as it has happened before i am at increased risk of it happening again (hence I don't really want a HB). But I still had it the second time and the placenta came away beautifully. DD2 also went straight to the breast which is also supposed to help with the 3rd stage!

Laura- {shock] at you mw totally uncessary I'm also measuring 2 weeks biger but was told by the mw they only look further if it's over 3cm (she was lovely and calming), I was also on the larger side at the start of this pregnancy, so you weight gain is great!!

Can't remeber anything else to say...

I've just given DH the panic of his life (again) thought I might blow my birthing balls (2 different sizes and I can't remeber which is the most comfy) up, then added in a minute dh thought B day had arrived!!!! (have had a fair few braxton hicks walking waddling around town today, so not an unlikely assumptio tbh.

Anyway have got much closert to packing my bag (and the DD's and Baby's) bought a changing mat for our bedroom, so we don't have to creep around dd2 for a nappy change in the night! a toy from the DD's (they chose a cuddle Paddington bear cos "he likes marmalade sandwiches"- logic you just can't argue with really! And we've now wrapped that and they've both "writen" their names on the tag (bearing in mind they are 3 and 1 it's a doodle !)

Picked up my free changing bag from boots (to replace the old one!! and some more bach flower rememdy (I will be calm and serene and not screaming banshee)

Oh also got one of those little travel bottles for spray to fill with water, for nappy changes when we're out and about!

Right off to blow up birthing balls (make dh feel guilty and do it for me) Hope you're all haveing a good weekend

Dorisx

MrsMcJnr · 09/05/2009 23:20

Goodness me so much talking! Can't even begin to catch up properly but I'll have a little skim before bed.. hope everyone is well

MrsMcJnr · 09/05/2009 23:35

Sorry, can only remember a few things to comment on right now but I?ll be back for more tomorrow

Lauraloo - I was consultant led in Scotland with DS and as you know I arrived at the hospital an hour before DS was born, no interventions and the consultant only visited because she wanted to say congratulations hope all goes well with your test

Looouise - consultant recommended that I have the injection due to my increased risk of haemorrhage but after a drug free labour I was reluctant to then have something that might give me a migraine if I didn?t need it so the MW agreed to monitor things and as it was the 3rd stage was over 15 mins after the birth so I didn?t have it.

Dreamy ? sorry to hear your DD is breech at the mo, hope she turns.

Tee ? take it easy hon, mat leave is just around the corner!

June ? that is the baby monitor I have (and have just ordered another one). I think Tracey Hogg?s book is fabulous as are the ?what to expect? books I recently bought the toddler one as thought the pregnancy one and first year ones were really useful. Happy reading!

Hey Naat having the whole ear piercing dilemma myself. They don?t do them at birth here now but at about 3 months.

Doris ? wow! That is a lot of grandchildren for your Dad!

Littlesarah ? excellent news on the baby turning and on the dissertation being handed in!

LittleSarah · 10/05/2009 00:07

MrsMcJnr - Meant to say my dh phoned my mum looking for me and she had the same reaction as yours, omigod is the baby coming?!

Naat - I agree your bump is not small, I think it's probably about the size of mine, neat but certainly there! Two people said to me the other day that I was neat/small/etc and then I saw my sis and she said you're so much bigger this time... You can't win!

I must get a picture actually, tomorow is the day...

(Watching really quite dreadful kung fu war film with dh, I think it is nearly over, huh, bloody dh is actually asleep!)

chocciedooby · 10/05/2009 09:25

Naat - you have a lovely neat bump!

My bump is huge now. I definately look like Mr Greedy.

loooouise · 10/05/2009 10:36

Choccie I have a bright pink mat dress from H&M which was my favourite pregnancy outfit - until somebody pointed out that I did indeed look like Mr Greedy in it! I will try and figure this post thingy out and put a pic up to prove it!

Naat loving your red boob tube thingy, you look one hot mama.

Thanks so much Ineed, Ermitude, LittleS, Doris, Silk and MrsMcJn for sharing your 3rd stage stories...it's a really dilemma, eh? I have put "would prefer to deliver naturally, but will also request injection if necessary" on my birth plan to see how it pans out on the day. Removal in theatre or retaining the dregs certainly doesn't sound like fun after the tsunami of childbirth!! But I see what you mean about just wanting to get on with being a mum, LittleS

Good luck with your move Naat! I am packing away stuff in my flat as a girlfriend is moving in for 10 weeks while I'm up North at my parents' house. I love my batchelorette flat soooo much and worked so hard to get it just how I wanted it it...hard to believe that when I come back I'll have an 8 week old flatmate to wreak havoc in it!

Ooh, on the living front, another girlfriend of mine took me aside at my babyshower and said she would consider living with me and baby if I rented out my flat and we found a house together. I thought she was mad, but thinking about it, it would be lovely. She's a very family-type person I think (has knitted me beautiful booties and brought the BEST jam tarts to my friend's funeral) so I can see why it might appeal. Also, another friend of mine is looking for tenants for her empty 3 bed, which is acutally 2 houses knocked through downstairs, with separate upstairs quarters. That means baby and I could have our own bathroom and they'll be a supporting wall between us and her so I don't feel guilty about nighttime crying. I think the company would be really great for me, too, as it's the isolation of single motherhood that I find most daunting....Anyhoo, she may well come to her senses and it may come to nothing, we'll just have to see!

Tee2072 · 10/05/2009 10:47

Morning all.

Not too bad a nights sleep here at TeeWorld. This morning, however, baby is kicking up a storm! I think it knows its sunny out and wants mummy to go for a walk later!

Re: 3rd Stage Labour. Based on what MW said at class the other night? We get no choice on the shot or not! Basically she said 'you'll be so busy hold your new little one, you'll never even notice us put it into your thigh.' Not sure how I feel about that, although I am not necessarily anti-shot either. Its the lack of choice that worries me!

looouise I think your friend's offer is lovely, especially if you can get that divide house. Sounds perfect!

choicce I am huge as well. I am hoping to have new pics up this week, although I'm having tech problems with my blog, so there might be a delay!

Have a lovely Sunday, Juners!!

ermintrude13 · 10/05/2009 10:56

Morning ladies

Doris I've borrowed my sister's birthing ball but our pump broke so poor DH had to blow it up 'manually' ie. like a huge balloon. Nearly killed him

Choccie and looouise lol@ Mr Greedy! Another reason I should steer clear of pink, methinks.

And Looouise, sounds like there are a few options presenting themselves to you. Hope you have time to ponder all the pros and cons and end up with your ideal living arrangements when you're back in the smokey. Only 'con' I can think of with friend is how long she'll be there, and how it will work if she starts a relationship and someone else will be in the house a lot. But that all depends on her, and your, personalities, and in having a rental agreement that takes every eventuality into account. What a nice offer though; sounds like you have a really good circle of friends.

Just remembered something about DD's placenta - the MW poked at it and said 'hmm, there might be a little bit missing but nothing serious - you'll probably have a few bits of this coming down in the next few days' and told me they'd look like rags . I had to catch them in toilet paper and keep them in a tupperware box for the MW to check at her visits [barf emoticon]. Ah, the dignity of womanhood

Hello MrsMC, Littlesarah, Tee, Naat and everyone else. I'm off to the greenhouse to plant up tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries, cucumber, runner beans and rocket. Hoping to live off salads this summer...

LittleSarah · 10/05/2009 12:17

ermintrude - Ooh I'm so jealous of your gardening fun, I need to re-pot some parsley seedlings today but they will just be in window boxes!

Looouise - Living with a friend - especially with a lot of space - sounds like it could be ideal. But of course as ermin said there are definitely things to be thought through first. I actually quite liked it on my own, I was with my mum for first couple of months and then got my own flat and was incredibly daunted at first but then adapted very quickly and loved it. Still if a friend had offered to live with I think I would have adapted happily to that situation too, and it would have helped with little things like being in in the evening and suddenly wanting/needing to nip to shops and not being able to! My dad did suggest my sister and I living together and she was up for it but that would have been awful. She is messy slacker night owl, me tidy lark with baby on the side...

Tee - You should definitely have the choice pre-birth! When I had dd they told me I needed to let them know before as it has to be given at the moment the head comes out (may be different now though), and I did notice! Had totally forgotten, have had gas and air, am pushing away and then suddenly one midwife says head's out and I feel a needle go into my thigh... very odd indeed, but I noticed!

I am now in dh's work, he is finishing some painting and I have brought laptop for research purposes, fun, fun, fun!

Naat · 10/05/2009 13:33

Hi Juners!

loouise your group of friends sounds lovely and really supportive, you're a lucky girl Your friend is very nice to offer to share a house with you. I think Ermin and LittleS are right, though, put everything on the scales and see all the pros and cons of it before making a decision Thanks for your lovely comments re. my bump

tee so odd... here they ask you if you want it directly or prefer to wait and see and I really thought that was the "norm". Maybe you could ask again?

littleS glad you could take your laptop if not, I'd imagine you'd have been really bored... You're right, you can't win with the bump size thing... MWs have been hunting me all pg because they say I'm too small and that's why I've had 5 or 6 scans instead of the regular 2 or 3 Oh well... hope the scan on Wed goes OK and they leave me alone! (as they promised they would).

ermin LOL at your MW telling you to keep the "bits" in a container... oh the things we have to do at you having a greenhouse! The most similar thing I got here are tiny pots with basil on the kitchen's window

choccie LOL! I had no idea who mr greedy was and I just googled it. I'm positively sure you don't look like that!! How are you feeling these days?

doris LOL at your poor DH almost having a heart attack... bless him! Yay on having your bag almost ready!

MrsMC Hi there! Hope you haven't got too many panicky calls from your mum

Awful weather here, a bit cold, cloudy and windy I'll try and work a bit and we have 2 DVDs to watch so I don't mind not going out LO is kicking and moving QUITE a lot, sometimes it hurts a bit... she's seriously running out of space in there poor soul...

HOpe you're all having a lovely day, Juners!!
