xposts daisy - sorry about yesterday I'm sure it'll all be forgotten when you tell her you're off out for the day. Especially with the possibility of soft play and ice cream

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 28/05/2009 07:34

Hi all,

Just checking in, no baby here either and all signs have stopped.

good luck bigcar

MIL and her sister are popping in this morning, so have to tidy the house a little

I had a decent nights sleep last night (apologies to those who didn't) and I really needed it!!!

Daisy and silk -The guilt thing doesn't go away, felt so bad that mum and dad took my 2 yesterday, cause I just couldn't deal with them.

Right off to get dd's breakfast just wanted to check in first to see who had popped!

Have a good day

bunnymother · 28/05/2009 07:36

Oh, you poor thing! I bet you felt terrible, but sounds like these things are easily fixed. She will be a different little poppet after a nice day with you!

Kettle is on (just had a micro nap - why can I sleep at 7am, but struggle to sleep during the night?)...

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 28/05/2009 08:12

Just checking in.. no signs yet, though crampy in the night it's eased off now.

I also feel that guilt about not being able to take DS anywhere exciting as I'm so damn tired. Luckily DH is around this week so he's eased things a little.

I wonder how bigcar is getting on....! How exciting, maybe our first baby!

Morning Juners!

Daisy you sound soooo ready You've got everything up and ready for LO to arrive. You'll have a lovely day with DD today, enjoy it!! As bunny and silk said, it'll all be forgotten today

doris so glad you had a good rest last night

silk how unfair that they threaten to take her place away if she doesn't go ALL the time, is that the norm? Hope you take her out early today and can have some 1-1 time together

tee sorry to read you were up at 2am Hope now you sleep until 11, like laura

mrsmc ohhh hot MW! How lucky you are, lady! at your MIL's comment, I second what daisy suggested I'm having fun with mum, she's very mellow and happy about LO arriving so I'm just hoping this lasts until she leaves

june I have to go with ineed, who said she felt some respect for that wee mouse going through the fresh cement! I could not believe what I was reading. Your DH is an angel anyway, spending all that time TWICE

hi dreamy! Hope those contractions start soon

llynn LOL at your DH going to the cinema to avoid the UEFA cup Mine was glued to the TV

ermin I shuddered when reading what happened to your friends I would die!!

ineed did you enjoy the apprentice? I'll have to watch it today as yesterday after the match I really wanted to go to bed Ohhhh I so hope Debra left!!!

bigcar thinking of you!!!

effie hope you and LO are fine! xxx

Hello to everyone I've missed !!

DH was glued to the TV and of course celebrated both goals like crazy. He follows Man U because Tevez plays there but he absolutely hates Ronaldo (as we all ) so yesterday he went for Barca. Besides, Messi plays there as well so he had Argies on both sides Mum and I resorted to chat along in her bedroom and I popped in and out to see how the game was going (I enjoy a good game)

Aquanatal this morning Mum will come as well to see us aqua-waddle

Come on, ladies, we're about to hit the 800th post and we have no babies!!! I can't pop yet, but come on you lot!

Tee2072 · 28/05/2009 08:39

Morning.

Well, did manage to get back to sleep and slept until about 8:30, when DH got me up. We're suppose to be at solicitors at 10:30 about our wills, but I am considering cancelling.

Cramping seems to have stopped. Thank God, since I am only 36 weeks! And I don't even have a hospital bag packed yet!

Hope bigcar is having her baby! And that effie is okay!

June2009 · 28/05/2009 09:14

hey, no babies here either.

SIL came by yesterday and we had a lovely time (right up until she said she was going to wait outside the hospital the minute she heard I was in labour, that thought has kept me awake.)

I hope bigcar8 and effie* are doing well,

Ooh daisy you think you're up tomorrow? Good luck and have a lovely day today!

Tee you are quite organised with the will, I mentionned it to dh when I read about it in "what to expect" and it hadn't even crossed his mind. I know we even spoke about it on this thread but that's long forgotten .
I guess we'd better get move on with the christening stuff as the guardians would be the godparents and we haven't spoken to them yet.

naat enjoy your swimming :D

hi to everybody else, only a quick catch up for me this am.

LittleSarah · 28/05/2009 09:26

Bigcar - GOOD LUCK (again)! Hope all goes well!

Only caught the end of the Apprentice after my guests left last night, Debra still there Naat! I am looking forward to the evil interviewers next week, did you see the clip with James getting asked about the spunk quote? Hysterical!

Oh Daisy - Jealous of your spotless house! Everytime I go into kitchen I look at cupboards and drawers and really want to clean them (and fridge now that I think about it!) but am usually busy just getting dishes and washing done! Pathetic. I think after nice pamper day today I shall try and get that particular chore done...

Want to tidy dd's room tomorrow (luckily it's not too bad), then we are going out with my sis, then ball. Then Saturday morning going to see my cousin's new baby (YAY!), then off to dh's ma's for lunch, then Sunday am dd has a friend's birthday party, then will have to get last minute bits and pieces we need... then it will be MONDAY! Argh!

Right, really must go, need to make tracks in half an hour and not dressed and still need to finish dishes...

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

chocciedooby · 28/05/2009 10:02

Hi everyone.
Good luck today Bigcar Hope all goes well for you. Can't wait to hear your news.

I am just about keeping up with this thread but am so brain dead that I can't remember who is saying what. Terrible I know.Sorry.

All this talk of sex, pineapples and curries is so funny....I resally must get my act together and start something soon. Sex is out of the question in this house as DH just does not fancy me with bump .
I love pineapples so must go buy some and curries.....yum.

I think i am off to make my first cup of RLT now. I have been too frightened to take any before now as I keep thinking I am having enough strange pains without it.

Not a great nights sleep again for me last night I am so looking forward to having the baby in my arms and being able to feed it, cuddle it and share it with the boys. I am also really missing sleeping comfortably and would at this stage prefer to be waking up and feeding a newborn than getting up for a pee! Atl east when baby gets back to sleep I will be so tired I should sleep straightaway (heres hoping).

Have to go book car in for its service now as don't want to be dealing with that once baba is here. Also have quite a few birthday gifts to buy. I am feeling really unorganised this morning, especially after seeing how well prepared many of you are.

Have a good day all and looking forward to hearing about some baby news soon.

ermintrude13 · 28/05/2009 10:27

Morning all!

choccie Someone mentioned the medicinal benefits of sex on all fours - are you sure that presenting your DH with that prospect wouldn't do the trick? My DH would be over the moon. So to speak . Good luck with the RLT.

Daisy I know for a fact that my house is far from spotless but have also decided it's not going to be for a long, long time. I'm just keeping chaos and dust at bay for now, and all the stuff for babe is laundered and ready. I know my limites . Have a super day with DD.

MrsMc see above and don't do too much housework! Although, I keep thinking that I must keep moving and vigorous cleaning is supposed to be the right sort of exercise. I make sure I walk a reasonable amount each day and hope that's doing the trick.

June for keeping mice out, that expanding foam stuff which comes in a can is good - expands to fill the space, dries hard v quickly and then you can cut it to shape. Or just leave it looking like a big mouldy mushroom in the corner of the downstairs toilet, as my DH has done...

Naat enjoy aquanatal. (And Barca deserved to win, they totally outplayed Man Utd, who do need to lose sometimes, just to cut them down to size. I speak as a Liverpool fan

How exciting to think of Bigcar today. And hope things are good for Effie too. Hi to everyone else.

mspotatochip · 28/05/2009 11:10

Just popping in to send good luck to bigcar and effie. Totally can't keep up with you guys. Also amazed nobody's popped yet!

bunnymother · 28/05/2009 11:17

Morning again ladies!

OK, can do more of a catch up now...

Ineed - nightly sex - v impressive! Am hoping that from tomorrow night we can move to the nightly pineapple curry in bed, as this critical week for DH's work will have passed. Have been too scared to even drink RLT in case LO decides to arrive early and I would have to explain to DH that I had tried to lure her out... Holy smokes you have been busy!! I better get moving - everyone here is so active and sorting out their house! I am drowning in paper. Bad DH wasn't joking when he said he has been ignoring his paperwork . If only he wasn't so lovable!

MrsMcJnr - love that you were wolf whistled - fantastic - if you got it, you got it... LOL about sexy male MW. Need to make any more appointments?? Poor thing re your horrible dream!!

Ermin - your book borrower reminds me that I have noticed quite a few men who are "the boss" at work seem to like being told what to do at home. I am also about that. Forgot to say how funny that old man was who came up to you in the shopping centre!

BTW it seems if you are heavily pregnant then you don't have to wait in either the Primark or Post Office queues! Might have saved myself about 5 hours...

June - I am also thinking that loaning books, CDs or DVDs to people is a bad idea, unless you are happy to give them to them. DO you remember that line in Out of Africa [swoon] where Robert Redfords character when asked whether he would lose a friend over a borrowed book, replied referring to the borrower "No, but he did, didn't he?" [sigh]. Oh dear, v persistent little mouse you have there. Time for Ermin's suggestion re the foam mushroom?

Silk - I am sold sold sold on the cleaner idea! We had one, but when I finished work I let our cleaner go (who is also pregnant!!), but its time to get another. Gosh, how much did you do yesterday, too?! LOL about your DH's "medical" reasons for a shag!! .
You do have to admire his reasoning! Hope you can rest after your tough night...

BTW thanks to whoever (memory failure) sent the link for the cleaner!

Snow - I can just imagine your fantastic baby shower in beautiful Sydney! . I used to live in Paddington, do you live near there? Lots of happy memories for me, and we will go back. Just not for a few years...

Daisy - I love SATC, so would also have much respect for a mouse who couldn't tear himself away from the screen . Your cleaner sounds like a gem!

LittleSarah - another Juner whose home is not what it could be...

Choccie - good luck w the pineapple, curry and RLT! Hope you can nap today.

Doris - very of your sleep!

Hello all you other lovely Juners!! I better go and actually do some housework!!! ((waves))

lauraloo09 · 28/05/2009 11:52

oh something strange with computer there posting my message 3 times sorry guys

llynnnn · 28/05/2009 12:00

morning all, still here!! and STILL no signs!!

Daisy - hope you have a lovely day with dd, sure she will love it. I feel guilty for not being able to do so much with my dd due to no energy, but it is only temporary and we will soon be in a good routine with our new babies (fingers crossed!) hope you are right about tomorrow, fingers crossed for you!

dd is in nursery today and dh is at work so I have been lazing about all morning (slept terribly last night so thats my excuse ) must must do some housework this afternoon though!

choccie - i too cant wait to actually HAVE the baby now and beable to move onto the next stage. Pregnancy is boring now!! lol!

littlesarah - sounds like you have lots of plans for the weekend, that will make time pass a little quicker!

naat - enjoy aquanatal, wish I'd started something like that. guess its a little late now lol!!

Tee - hope you feel brighter now and manage to get some rest this afternoon too

Hi to everyone else!

chocciedooby · 28/05/2009 12:01

I don't mind mice . I used to live in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside and we had 2 cats that would bring them in occassionally. Aren't they meant to be a "gift"??? Maybe for those of yuo that have received gifts recently; the cats are getting vibes of the new arrival?!

Anyway, we used to get an old tea towel and scoop the little mice up (if alive) and let it free Some of you may think I'm mad.

Cleaning - I really need to get on with some but every time I look at the house I put it off and put my feet up instead.
For any of you that may have health insurance with Hibernia/Aviva - check out your policy as you can be entitled to FREE 4 x 4 hour cleaning/domestic chore sessions. All I have to do is decide when I need their help and contact them after the baby is born. They will put me in youch with their cleaning agency and all will be arranged. They will clean yuor oven, prepare light meals, clean bathrooms etc.

I never considered peoples hands when handling my other 2 dcs . All of my friends and family are clean people but I suppose there are germs everywhere. I am a believer that kids do need to get some germs to build up their immune system but for newborns I suppose its a different matter so I will be scanning everyones hands and nails this time. DS1 got an infection in his tummy button during our stay in hospital and I always blame the nurse that gave him his first bath and wiped his tummy. How else did the germ get in there? I was so careful with hygiene. The poor little mite ended up with impetigo all over his tummy

No chance of a nap here Bunnymother. My head is always buzzing after the school run that I don't have the time to sandwich one in before pick up time.

Mrsmc is your dishy mid wife going to be delivering your baby?! .

Effie - Hope you are doing ok in the hospital.

ermin - lol re: sex on all fours having medicinal effect. I would be well up for that . I think no matter what position we may try DH would still not be able to get his head around the fact that he fears he could be hurting the baby. Why oh why is he not one of those men (ineed) that love sex with a pgt woman?!
The thing is, once baby has arrived he will be mad keen and waiting for the required 6 weeks of recovery to pass by... I on the other hand will not at that point be interested .

chocciedooby · 28/05/2009 12:04

Lauraloo - You are just trying to fill this thread up !

Sorry you didn't get much sleep last night. Hope tonight is better for you.

lynnn - Dito! Bored with it all now. Doesn't the end drag!

June2009 · 28/05/2009 12:21

hey,

Someone here yesterday mentionned they'd ask smokers to wash their hands and that's a really good point. Most people we know don't smoke but Dh does and so does sil.

Do any of you have a dh who smokes?
I've managed to get him and visitors who smoke to go outside for it but I don't think that's enough to be completely honest.
Whenever he comes back from smoking I can smell it on his hands and clothes and I'm worried about him holding the baby and the baby breathing it in.
I've read a few articles who (obviously) say that smoking is bad etc but in practical terms was wondering if anyone had tips either for smokers on what to do to get rid of the smell etc or tips for getting them to stop. (being an ex-smoker myself I know you can't make anyone stop, they have to want to stop themselves...)

ermintrude13 · 28/05/2009 12:31

June I know quite a few people who used the arrival of a new baby as their cue to give up smoking. It's impossible to get the smell off clothes and off the breath etc. and although that's only actually dangerous if the babe has asthma or something, it's 'not very nice' as my mother would say. Also, nothing brings you thoughts of mortality like having a baby, so it's a time to think about being as healthy as possible so that you can enjoy as many years with your LO/s as possible. Any chance you can broach the subject with DH and ask him if he's thought this might be a good time to give it a go? I do have 2 friends who insisted their DHs gave it up but inisting is not everyone's style and doesn't always work.

MrsMcJnr · 28/05/2009 12:40

One more job done ? English and Spanish copies of birth plan marked up with response from head midwife and copied the requisite number of times and now in the birth bag felt like I was preparing for Court, took me back I also need to get some mints now as another MNetter very helpfully told me that the Abs for the Strep B give you a horrible taste in your mouth, where would we be without MN?!

Tee ? how are you this morning hon? I had a horrible night, so very hot; my hair was wet, not sure if it was pregnancy related or the fact that there was no breeze at all last night. Pack that bag lady

Hey Bunny ? hope the admin is nearly done! I keep meaning to do last year?s tax return but keep putting it off I?m the same about sleep, I could happily bed down at 8am just when DS is wide awake.

Daisy ? your house sounds fabulously ready nesting never kicks in hard enough for me to clean windows I have to say hope you feel better today and have a lovely fun day out with DD hope the MW appointment went well. Don?t know if I said last night, MIL (who is bi-polar) hasn?t brought enough medication with her and we can?t get the same pills here slightly stressed out by this as you can imagine!! She is now thinking of going back to Scotland in a week?s time which frankly is a long enough stay. It has been great having her here in lots of ways but I would now quite like her to go

Silkcushion ? enjoy ?pamper a toddler? day

Hey Doris Ineedmore ermintrude, llynnn & mspotatochip

Naat ? no need to watch the football here, I knew Barca had won by the noise from the neighbours my little sister is in Barcelona at the moment, I bet the atmosphere is fabulous!

June ? is your SIL Spanish by any chance? seems like people bring their neighbours and everyone to wait outside the labour suite here and I mean directly outside, no waiting room a good distance down the hall like in the UK!

Littlesarah ? what a busy lady you are!

Laura ? hope all goes well at the MW

Hello Choccie ? that cleaning service sounds great!

We have lived in Spain a year today wow it has flown!

silkcushion · 28/05/2009 14:07

June - has your DH looked up the risks associated with SIDS and having a parent who's a smoker - might just give him the kick start he needs (I speak as an ex-smoker too so I know how hard it is)

CHoccie - I think my private health care is with Aviva (new name for Norwich Union I think?) Surely we don't get free cleaning? That's unbelievable. Was it with your poilcy documents?

Tee - hope you get those wills sorted.

I have to say as someone who works in financial services it's the first thing we tell parents to sort out. If you and yr dh were to die in an accident then the courts decide what happens to your children. People think it's simply a case of yr mum or someone volunteering and it's not. Also please all make sure you have adequate life insurance - not just to cover your mortgage etc but to tide you/dh over with childcare and everything until dcs are a little more independent. I have honestly met so many people through work that have found themselves in a terrible situation

Ok I'll stop nagging now - sorry

Must get on need to do 30 mins hypnobirthing, get another wash on and then pick up dd early so we can go and visit dh's dad and step mum (she isn't really dd's Grandma but is far more involved with her than Mil is)

daisy5 · 28/05/2009 14:21

chocciedooby · 28/05/2009 14:25

Hi Silk.

Not sure if we have the same insurance companies as I am based in Ireland but the company used to be called Vivas and is now called Hibernian Aviva Health. The international assistance number is 1850 946 644. We have level 2 cover and it does give you free cleaning, honest!!!

I have never seen the policy documents as they are held at DH's company but I carry a card and he gave me the details so I contacted them and they said I was covered. Never heard of such a service before.
