Just checking in for morning register - no baby here just some frantic nesting

I have the world's biggest to do list today and I'm blasting through it. Can you tell I got some sleep last night? 10pm til 8am with only 3 visits to the loo

Very disappointed there aren't any overnight babies. Nevermind - I'll do a proper catch up later

bigcar · 27/05/2009 11:03

morning all

I'm glad your appointment went well yesterday MrsMcJnr and you're much happier now! The problem is I've never actually come across a real male midwife and the only one that comes to mind was the one in Only Fools and Horses when DelBoy's son was born and his hairpiece fell off onto the baby

littlesarah, that knitting is great, lovely bump pic too!

ermin, I've never insisted on hand washing either. Thing is, even newborns will gum anything that goes near their mouths, whether it's someones arm or tshirt as they're holding them. I suppose it's an each to their own thing, I would never refuse to wash my hands if I was asked to Maybe it's just because when I had dd1 antibac anything didn't exist For stangers you need to perfect that BACK OFF stare

june, you need ineeds cat

doris and effie, hope all's well with you both Eagerly awaiting news!

It's really grotty here today, just a constant drizzle, kids are getting really fed up, they've really enjoyed being able to be in the garden most of the day recently. You can bet next week when they're all back at school, the sun will return and we'll all be boiling hot

Really crap nights sleep again here didn't help that dd3 got up just before 1am, she went back off quite quickly, I didn't! Don't think I'll sleep well tonight either. I've got to ring the labour ward at 7am to see if they've got room for me, with the aim to go in for 8am, that'll be fun trying to get the kids moving at that time during the holidays. I think mil might have some fun with them tomorrow At least the weather is supposed to be slightly better tomorrow!

waves to all

June2009 · 27/05/2009 11:04

Ineed Can I borrow your cat, need to get this mouse out of the kitchen!!! :D

insywinsyspider · 27/05/2009 11:24

daisy great news about potentially getting a cleaner, I keep mentioning cleaning and home cooked meals when people say they?ll help out after baby is here, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they mean holding the baby while I do that

tee enjoy your nap and going for a swim may ease your aches and pains

doris keep us posted!! (if you can )

naat the boys are back on Friday, I?ve become a bit of an insomniac I was still up hovering at 10.30pm last night ? maybe I do have nesting after all and only had really good sleep between 4-8am can?t seem to get motivated again this morning, tempted to go back to bed but have friends round for dinner this eve so can?t do crazy cleaning and painting when I actually have the energy!

ermin I also don?t bother with the hand washing thing and newborns ? only people I insist do it are the smokers in my family, but I?ve never had to ask them to they just do it anyway, think its more about the smell than hygiene though ? doesn?t sound like you?re in minority

bigcar why do you need to go to labour ward? Did I miss something

Right I should really stop being on here and do some cleaning? or nap? or shop ? I think I might just go to shops and have a coffee and cake sans children? bliss

LittleSarah · 27/05/2009 11:30

(And thanks for all the kind comments about the shawl!)

bigcar · 27/05/2009 11:30

insy, I'm being induced tomorrow if all goes to plan I'm hoping to get away with them just breaking my waters to get things going, the doctor last week seemed to think it would work, fingers crossed

snap june

bunnymother · 27/05/2009 11:30

Morning ladies!

Am present and stil pregnant this morning! Last week baby was 2/5 engaged and I think she has dropped further, but no big signs of pregnancy.

Feel like lazing around doing nothing today, but DH has managed to convince me to become his skivvy admin assistant for his company. My dislike of paperwork is probably only matched and bettered by his. So am trying to get that done before LO arrives. [hates it emoticon]

Still, am off for waxing this afternoon, so have a treat to look forward to! The last one pre-baby. Which makes me think I better go and dab some polish at my toenails. Distraction from my rather swollen feet?

Sounds like we are all achy, heavy and a bit over it, but keen beans for our babies to arrive! I am eyeing off that pineapple in the fridge. Mmmm, pineapple! DH's request to not try and lure her out this week is ringing in my ears, but I do need my fruit!

Weather a bit rubbish here, sounds like its the same for most of us! Perhaps this calls for 3pm hot chocolates?

Sorry for me me me!

lauraloo09 · 27/05/2009 11:36

morning all just checking in for the morning register lol

seem to still feel heavy esp my legs for some reason lol got a decent nights sleep last night again but the best hours of sleep i get is between 6 and 11! i know i keep saying this but i want baby out NOW!!!

bigcar can't remember is it you that is getting induced tomorrow?

tee take it easy today and enjoy your nap

silk that your got a decent nights sleep too x

ermin yey on being 37 weeks today

littlesarah hope your dinner with your dad and his lady goes well tonight x

bunnymother · 27/05/2009 11:38

Oh dear, I should have "refreshed" the thread before posting - I missed LOTS! Bigcar - so excited for you that tomorrow could be the big day!!

LittleSarah - well done on the dress, it is gorgeous!

ermin - not to add fuel to the fire, but your DH's BF's wife sounds vile. Hard when the connection isn't yours to break, but hopefully you don't have to see her that often. And I can't help but laugh at people like that - they are their own worst enemies, creating ill will wherever they go.

Ineed - am a cat lover, but 1am wake up w foul present does push it, doesn't it?

June - good luck w mouse removal!

silk - am sooo of your good night's sleep! Do enjoy that wonderful (long forgotten for me) feeling of energy!

Naat - ah, love your plan for dealing w MIL. Sounds great, and good that you have your DH to ensure the plan comes together.

Hello all you other lovely Juners! Agree, wonder if Effie is off arranging for our first baby??

bunnymother · 27/05/2009 11:41

Oh, bugger, missed more!!

Laura - morning!

Insy - have a fab time at the cafe, and order an esp delish piece of cake for me!

Daisy - DH and I decided last night that we are getting a cleaner in once LO arrives. Esp when the other option was for DH to become well acquainted w the mop, vacuum cleaner and iron .

llynnnn · 27/05/2009 11:46

i'm still here too!! still no signs, i thought maybe my bump had dropped a little yesterday but now its def back up again!! feeling loads of movement though! (probably to do with OP!)

June - hope your mouse problem goes away very quickly! I would be like you and not go anywhere near them!! I also read every page of what to expect in the first year when we had dd, it became our bible!!

littlesarah - love the shawl and cardigan, you are very talented! i wouldnt know where to start!

mmmm pineapple, if it ever stops raining today i might have a wander/waddle to the shop to get myself one!!

bigcar - hope all goes well tomorrow, you seem the most likely to be the 1st june baby! yay!!

bunny - enjoy your pampering this afternoon! very jealous! i painted my toenails last night, it was a struggle!!

ermintrude - i also nver bothered with the handwashing before touching dd last time, and wont this time either. i am no clean freak by any stretch of the imagination, but i dont know anyone who is totally grubby and covered in germs either so think we will be safe!

doris - sounds exciting!! good luck!

Naat · 27/05/2009 11:47

bunny you've made me smile with the 3 posts trying to finally catch up You're sweet! LOL at your DH getting acquainted with the cleaning appliances and supples

bigcar · 27/05/2009 11:53

laura, meant to say, we have a wii too It's more dh and the dcs that are into all that though, I'm just the console widow I took a huge step back from the wii, went right off it when it told me my wii fit age was 74 I had a go at guitar hero yesterday afternoon, I must be sooooo lacking in musical talent, it was so hard, even on easy level and only using 3 of the colours! This from the person who can't even sing in tune, how I torture my kids when I sing to them Never mind the dancing I am soooo into my embarrassing mum years

bunny, enjoy your day and the pineapple, love it

insywinsyspider · 27/05/2009 11:59

bigcar I did miss that! how exciting you'll have your baby really soon

bunny will do! although still not managed to get off the computer yet started downloading photos onto kodak so I can get our family album upto date before baby arrives - now thats the type of nesting I like!

snowwombat · 27/05/2009 12:06

girls, just checking in but ready for bed so won't catch up properly now.
Happy baby wishes to bigcar for tomorrow's induction.
Spent day at hospital, blood pressure up so on the CTG, blood tests etc. Back in the morning for more. Last day of work tomorrow too-lucky my department just down the hall from the women's hospital and a very easy going boss!
Had a gorgeous baby shower on Sunday- another glorious Sydney day, lots of girl pals, loads of lovely high tea goodies and posh china! We received so many beautiful presents, the baby is going to be so well dressed and wrapped
Check in tomorrow and catch up with you chatty girls! Here's to a baby arrival very soon

daisy5 · 27/05/2009 12:08

insy and bunny - my new cleaner is here now and she is really good. Has ironed the shirts beautifully and the duvet and now doing an excellent job of the toilets. I'm in heaven. She is the au pair for a family nearby and just wants to make some extra money. I figure there was enough tiredness and stress when dd was a baby without adding arguments about cleaning the house.

bigcar - I am so excited for you.

silk hugely about your night's sleep. I managed 6 hours but falling apart at the seams already.

Does anyone else have a stonking great headache as well as the pains and the nausea?

Shall we share our pineapple recipes !!

I can't keep off this thread now it is all about to happen. I think it's between effie and doris

Naat · 27/05/2009 12:26

ohhh daisy you're in heaven!!! Nothing like finding a good cleaner!! Yay for you!

No headaches here, but some nausea since yesterday

snow at your baby shower Glad to hear you got some lovely pressies and that you're about to be a free woman!!

ermintrude13 · 27/05/2009 12:35

bunny you mentioned hot chocolate, I failed to resist and have just sunk a mug of choc ovaltine - yum . And yes, that woman was terrible, I think she was the only child of very wealthy doting parents who waited on her every whim. It's 2nd marriage for DH's friend and she gives him the runaround but he seems to like it .

June finding mice in the kitchen was what swung it for me - off to Cats Protection we went! I'd resisted pleas from DC and DH until then but can't bear mice so we got 2 little black kittens from a stray litter. Never had a mouse in the house since - if I see them with something in their mouths I lock the catflap and they seem to have taken the hint and stopped trying to bring me gifts.

daisy ooh am of cleaner. Although, my neighbours have one who's great but who will not shut up - she follows the husband to the toilet and talks to him thru the door! I don't earn enough to justify it, sadly, but when I do it will be top of the list.

snowwombat glad the shower went so well, sounds fantastic. Send some sunshine over here will you?

bigcar, in case I don't get back on here today, GOOD LUCK for tomorrow, will be thinking of you xx

chocciedooby · 27/05/2009 12:44

Just checking in and hope to be back on later when I can try and read what all you lovely ladies have been saying.

Not a great nights sleep here. Up every hour to pee and then have to get up at 7 to get kids ready for school Lots of BHs still. Thought I was in labour last night and just couldn't fall asleep. Too anxious this time around. Husband is in the Isle of Man today so hope baby doesn't make a shocking early entry to the world today or I will be giving birth alone.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 27/05/2009 12:44

Sorry doesn't look like it will be me again arrrrrgggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Was convinced by 0800 that this was it real contractions etc, so phoned my mum and dad they came over a bit later (after breakfast!) By which point everything had gone quiet again.

Still got the back ache but nothing more, had a check up with the mw this morning she did say that I was 4/5 engaged (not much but more than I have been)....

Mum and Dad have now taken girls to their house to entertain for the afternoon as I'm still crampy but NO CONTRACTIONS I just want this to get going now!!

(DH is convinced that tonights the night as it's the last epidode of "the wire" and with DD2 he missed the last episode of the Rome series, so is convinced he is detined to misout again!!)

My money is on Bigcar fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Right need to go a wrap gifts from the baby for the dd's

Will catch up again soon

Oh and sorry for the shamless me posts recently

lauraloo09 · 27/05/2009 13:38

daisy i was very nausious (sp?) and had a terrible headache last night i still feel very heavy and just a general low feeling just now, had some crampy pains and niggles but nothing like last week...damn it!!!!!

Doris shame to hear contractions has gone away but you never know tonight may be the night

loooouise · 27/05/2009 14:24

GOOD LUCK bigcar!! Am thinking of you too xxx
Thinking of you too Doris, though it all sounds very frustrating.

Laura, Daisy and Naat, is nausea a sign of imminent labour? I am feeling terribly nauseous, tho could be low bp I guess. My baby 2/5 engaged but only very sporadic cramps...

Daisy I am definitely getting a cleaner when i get back to London. Maybe even a mother's help for the first couple of weeks!

Ermitude what a horrid woman. I can't stand people nicking my books. I wanted to watch my fave David Lynch film yesterday and some bugger's nicked that too.

Babyfather had nerve to sound mildly irritated with me last night on phone when I mentioned my new favourite name. I am going to ignore him and stick to my guns.

LittleSarah · 27/05/2009 14:50

Looouise - Yes I have been wondering if nausea is a prelabour thing? I thought I was just unlucky!

Daisy - Ooooh I would love a cleaner but totally cannot justify or afford one. Damn. Honestly I keep want to get cleaning and don't seem to find the time.

Man, I was hoping for a little more relaxing time pre-baby, don't think it is going to happen. Did research this morning and then spent this afternoon making this pie thing (making double the amount so I can freeze some) and cleaning up all the mess that came after! Also been washing sheets. Going to do more tidying for the visitors this evening and hopefully grab some lunch at some point! Can't wait for yoga, that, at least, should be relaxing.

Snow - Oh, wish wish wish I hadn't told my mum not to bother about baby shower, glad yours was so fab!

Doris - Sorry to hear your labour still hasn't kicked off, fingers' crossed it will be soon.

Bigcar - GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!

One fab thing: second hot milk bra arrived today. That nursingbra.co.uk is absolutely amazing. Ordered about two days ago, sent yesterday and here it is! Anyway it is absolutely gorgeous, black lace and dark violet silk and actually feels supportive!

Can't wait til tomorrow, I will be getting hair highlighted and nails done for the ball, ha! I will have to ignore the house and the research as I won't be at home!

June2009 · 27/05/2009 15:57

Bigcar Good luck tomorrow! Someone from my nct classes was induced last monday and had the baby on Thursday.

Message from Effie:
"Hi. My internets been playing up!
All was well until yest and pains started coming in my scar! Saw mw earlier and she sent me to del suite and the admitted me. I'm not allowed home til los out! I'll keep you informed via facebook and dhs blackberry. Please say hi to the other juners and let me know if anyone pops xxx
Love to you all xxxxxxx"

laura my mw told me to call them if I had a headache.

Tee hope you're enjoying your relaxing day :D

I feel very heavy as well, dh laughed and pointed out that it is normal...

I must look heavily pregnant and tired too.
The woman at the tesco checkout asked me today if I was ok and then if I was having twins.

Re: cleaners, we have been using www.homeclean.co.uk/ for years and I've now got someone who comes every week and makes up for what I haven't been able to keep on top of for £7 an hour. with the agency fee (£100 a year) it works out at around £40 a week (for 5 or 6 hours which is enough and includes ironing).

Being pg does have its advantages, I'm not allowed anywhere near mouse poo and have left dh and cleaner to sort it out.

Got the cot fitted sheets today too so I can carry on with that once I get more of my work done and dusted.

Thanks to whoever suggested 3pm hot chocolate and biscuits, very good idea

June2009 · 27/05/2009 16:28

Ermin meant to say, lol @ that woman's request for cheese and side salad. You were very good to make it for her
Sil is like that btw. Bil doesn't even ask, he helps himself to fridge, freezer and cupboard foodstuff.

I don't like lending books, cds or dvds to people, you never see them again.
