Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EasyEggs · 24/05/2009 22:43

Thank you

I made that mistake here and wasn't going to do it again lol! We still haven't got around to putting any stair carpet in here

Which is why I suggested to dp he we do it forst

I really have to pack, what am I doing?!

Night x x

katster37 · 25/05/2009 10:35

Good luck EasyEggs with the move! i love that feeling of having unpacked everything, and being in your new home!

Laugs yes, I could technically fly as I will only be 24 - 26 weeks pregnant, but the problem is, I am a really nervous flyer and need about a bottle of wine or valium to even get a plane to France, let alone New York, then New York to LA, then al the way home from San Francisco, and I don't want to risk getting in such a state... Plus 12 hours is a long time... And I know it probably wasn't to do with this, but my friend whose baby died at 27 weeks after she developed pre-eclampsia, well she developed pre-eclapmsia just after a mammoth flight all the way back from Hawaii. So I just don't think I would feel comfortable doing it.... We had already booked a holiday in France with Eurostar for the same dates as well, as when we rang Expedia before, they said we'd be able to change the flights no prob, for a fee of $100, which although quite a lot, is not much compared to losing the whole cost of it all... Grrr. They have just rung again, as 'the system crashed and they lost our itinerary number' GRRRRRRR.

We attemped se this morning, not v successfully because it reeeeally hurt What is wrong with me?!?!?

Laugs · 25/05/2009 10:45

Yeah I agree there would be no point in going on a holiday if it's only going to make you stressed, especially if you'll spend the whole time thinking about the longer homewards leg. I just hope they agree to change it again. If they refuse you could try contacting that consumer rights guy, Tony Levene, in the Guardian and shaming them into it? here

ursigurke · 25/05/2009 11:51

Katster - In my experience it usually helps if you communicate registered letters. Then they know you are serious and fighting for your rights.
But I agree, if you are a nervous flyer, it might be better to forget about it even if you loose the money. You just have to forget about the money, it's not worth to be too worried, it wouldn't be good for your health or for the health of your baby.

grace09 · 25/05/2009 16:38

Just come back from a hen weekend to hear brightonbabys terrible news. I am so sorry brightonbaby and can't imagine the pain you must be going through. I hope you get all the support you need and i echo everyone else that have said the support on mn is fantastic, it really helped me with my miscarriages just hearing others' words which were exactly how i was feeling. easyeggs i was so sorry to hear what you had been through too. You just wish these horrendous things did not have to happen to people

sleeplessinthecity · 25/05/2009 16:46

katster its a shame you'll miss the US trip but the rest are right, there is no point in going if you're stressed..but do try and get away. It will be a memorable last trip without bubba. Much as I can't do without DD I do miss DH and my holidays together. As for the se x try again and don't be stressed about it. Nothing is wrong with you!! pregnancy makes the body behave oddly. I get dry and it hurts so have to resort to good ole ky. Sorry for tmi..

scarlotti · 25/05/2009 17:23

Am impressed at all you ladies attempting some nocturnal activity - the first time we did at 6 weeks I had spotting and had to go to the epu, the second time was about 13 weeks and I got thrush after Funnily enough I don't really want to try again although am sure I ought. Desire for it is just not there either ... although I am getting the odd 'nice' dream and it's with dh which is reassuring!

katster37 · 25/05/2009 20:24

Thanks Laugs for that link - just shown it to DH. Hopefully won't come to that but good idea. Yes usigurke agree - just actually written a v long (!) letter to send registered delivery tomorrow.

Poor you scarlotti re sex. I just don't seem to be able to switch off from worrying enough to actually enjoy it! Will no doubt try again. If only I could have a few glasses of wine!! And sleepless, def not TMI - is helpful to know others are going through the same thing

Hope everyone has had a lovely bank holiday weekend. Easyeggs hope you are settling in well to the new house!

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/05/2009 21:17

Hello just catching up! DH and I have been to Llanelli today to pick up something geeky to do with computers he bought off Ebay. This was a 6 hour round trip. We spent 2 hours there on the beach and having lunch. Then we came home, put everyone to bed, and had sex. I find it hard to get in the mood because I get so tired in the evening and my bits are soooo sensitive that I find it quite hard to 'enjoy' completely and let go. But it was nice in the end but they do hurt now! Then when we'd finished we realised we'd had an audience the whole time: our oldest cat, sitting staring, silent, watching. Creepy!

Fruitpastels · 26/05/2009 10:37

Morning everyone. Hope you had a good Bank Holiday break. It always goes way too quickly. I'm now counting down the weeks before we go on our summer holiday. We haven't been away since before DS was born.

Good luck with the move EasyEggs. You really do have your hands full at the moment!

sleeplessinthecity · 26/05/2009 12:01

Hey all, just had a scan..not really meant to but I took my mum along and the gyno said since she was there it would be rude not to! Saw the little heart beating and it was jumping up and down. Feel a lot happier about life.

DH in NYC..my mother dealing with DD and all the cooking..going to put my feet up

Re Sex.. how come the pregnant women on TV are always craving it..?

scarlotti · 26/05/2009 12:15

sleepless great news on your freebie scan! Always lovely to see them bouncing around.

I hear of some pg mums that are at it like rabbits, sadly for my dh I'm not one of them. Luckily for me he learnt that last time around so am not being pestered . I'd love to have a raging libido ... it would seem though that just considering doing it makes me swell up down there and get uncomfortable I suspect it's going to be a long dry spell

katster37 · 26/05/2009 12:42

Yay, sleepless for scan! Was your mum excited? I took my Dad along to my scan last week as DH was working, and I'm so glad he got to see it!

Scarlotti am also expecting a long, dry patch Have no interest whatsoever.

Just been to the GP. Still can't shake off this throat/ear thing, and getting really concerned by frequent fainty spells.... Having at least 1 a day now, but not actually fainting, just going wobbly and light headed and I HAVE to sit down... GP said no need for antibiotics, and that she doesn't know why I keep fainting... Was a bit upset because she said 'is everything ok with the baby?' and I was like, 'eeer, well it was last Tuesday!' I've been feeling faint for nearly 3 weeks now though - since I hit 12 weeks to the day! Am sure it's nothing major, but would have like a bit of reassurance from a GP! She didn't even take my blood pressure...

How is everyone else? I got caught in the rain this morning, was soaked through to the bone on the way to the vets. My cat is having an operation... Have to ring at 2pm to check he is OK and am already nervous...

Koumak · 26/05/2009 14:21

girls I am sorry to say (NOT) that we have been at it all the time since TTC. Was like that when pregnant with ds too. But it might be that i never suffered ms! It will come i am sure!

since my booking in appointment at 11 weeks I have not seen mw and am only seeing her in august. surely that can be right? of course i have the 12 and 22 week scans but only gp in between?

Koumak · 26/05/2009 14:22

obviously i meant it cannot be right

Fruitpastels · 26/05/2009 14:45

Koumak in my area, we see the community midwife at
16-19 wks
20 wks scan
24 wks (GP)
28-30 wks
33, 36, 38, 40 wks

I'm sure this schedule is different in other regions.

lemontop · 26/05/2009 15:22

koumak I'm seeing midwife for the second time tomorrow at 16 / 17 weeks. I think she's going to give me the results of the blood tests I've had done between now and the booking in appointment. I really hope I get to hear the heartbeat.
I'm not sure whether to bring DP along to the appointment. He's off work but I don't know if anything that exciting will happen.

Things are all go for me at the moment. In hindsight organising a wedding, coping with being pregnant for the first time whilst having a rather stressful time at work is a bit too much. We booked our honeymoon yesterday though which is great. I haven't been abroad for about 3 years as have been skint. Going to Cyprus for a week. I'm planning on lazing in the pool or sleeping for a week.

scarlotti · 26/05/2009 15:28

lemontop we had our honeymoon in Cyprus! We went to Paphos and had a wonderful time, really relaxing which is just what you need after all that organising.

Had my 16 week appointment last Friday and got to hear the heartbeat so you should get to hear it.

Koumak as a general rule you should be seen every 4 weeks up until 28 weeks, then every 2 up until about 36 weeks I think, then maybe weekly until you give birth but it might stay at every 2 weeks - I can't quite remember!
Your care is shared between the mw or gp and a scan counts as an appointment. Normally the gp will see you for the 30 week appointment.

katster37 · 26/05/2009 15:36

Wow - you get to see your MW a LOT more than I do! ROund here, we have booking in no earlier than 11 weeks, then don't see them again until 18 weeks... Anomaly scan at 22 weeks and nuchal at 12. Not sure how often we will see MW after 18 weeks, but haven't actually been 'examined' by anyone other than at the scan. Thought this was normal? Was hoping the GP would take my blood pressure today but even that was a bit optimistic, it seems!

Koumak v of your sex life!

Ninjacat · 26/05/2009 15:39

Just got back from leading a workshop with a group of "hard to engage" yp's. Arghhhh Actually they did pretty well, it's their social workers who are the hardest work. Just got to keep them there for another 2days.

I have my first anti natal class on Thursday. I think I've snuck in a bit early as I should be between 16 and 20wks but will really only be 15.5

I actually can't bring myself to write about ones sex life and am now terrified I may be prudish? Still I like the mums net name for it - Baby Dancing.

Hope all is well in the land of bumps x

HomeintheSun · 26/05/2009 15:52

Lemontop where abouts are you staying in Cyprus for you holiday, I live just outside Limassol, we've been here for 27 months now but we're due to leave at the end on the year (baby should be about 6 weeks when we leave). DH and I have had sex twice since we found out I was pregnant, I can't face it and DS is going through a stage where he's up in the night anyway so although both DH and I are knackered he would still be up for it. We've just come home from a waterpark and I'm really worn out now I hope everyone is well.

BeckyBendyLegs · 26/05/2009 16:03

I'm also seeing midwife for second time this week: for bloods and general 'how are you doing' stuff.

We've had a boring day as we've had to stay in for the gas man. He arrived at 8.05am (I was just dressed) and left just now. We have serious cabin fever. I had to keep making him cups of coffee. Yuck! I hate making coffee.

Lemontop Cyprus sounds lovely.

We've only had sex twice too.

Ninjacat · 26/05/2009 16:05

BBL I'm glad you were waiting in for the gas man and not someone to fix your fridge

hobnob57 · 26/05/2009 16:38

Hello all, been a busy few days for us up here. DH has been golfing, golfing, golfing, hillwalking and is now too tired to function. I have been dealing with DD and stressed friends and not getting any of those blinking reports done! I'm SOO knackered I need a weekend, but I've a course tomorrow which is a 2-hour drive each way and a crazily early start .

On the plus side, I saw MW today (16 weeks) and she extracted 4 bottles of blood out of me, and I heard the heartbeat for the first time! Such a relief, especially since I felt such a lot of movement so early on and not a lot since. I'm satisfying myself with the notion that the placenta has grown and got in the way....

Found out today that I see MW at 24 weeks as well as 28 which I wasn't expecting as a 2nd time mum. No GP involvement here at all in this neck of the woods. It's slap bang in the middle of our holiday plans, so DH and I will have to sit down tonight and work all this out. It's about time we spoke to each other again instead of ships passing in the night
