Hopefully this has worked?

Ninjacat · 15/05/2009 09:36

Just popping in to say good morning.
Hope you're all well.

lemontop · 15/05/2009 10:08

Morning all. I really hope those of you with bad sickness start to feel better soon. It must be so difficult to just go about your daily business.

I can't wait to feel the baby move. I keep feeling things going on 'down there' but I'm not sure if it's things stretching or wind! can anyone who's has little ones before give me some tips? The books describe a butterfly's wings?! I'm finding that hard to imagine.

I'm going through a silly paranoid phase at the moment. I woke up yesterday and was panicking because I didn't really feel pregnant anymore and had lost a little bit of weight. I'm 15 weeks and have definitely got a bump. In fact last night I noticed that I couldn't bend at the waist as easily as I used to if that makes sense.

Might go shopping for some floaty maternity dresses later. My two pairs of leggings just won't do!

Ninjacat · 15/05/2009 10:09

Dose any one else get a strange rumbling in their tummy? Feels like it's somewhere not in my actual stomach but lots of bubbling and popping.
I'm only 12wks so don't think it can be movement yet.

sleeplessinthecity · 15/05/2009 10:18

Lots of rumblings in my tummy but not sure what is going on!
pavlov sorry you're so poorly.. Doesn't milk make things worse..it does for me. Funnily enough McDonalds stays down with me too!! but the burps are unbearable! Try and eat though your DH is right..little will nourish the bean eve if all seems to come straight out! Try sparkling water with lemon in it...sort of helps. I tried peppermint essential oil yest..it helps with the nausea a little. its awful isn't it!

DD is unwell and was up coughing all night. So on top of MS I am shattered!

Hope all is well with the scanners this week..take care ladies and gentleman..

x

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 10:37

sleepless - weirdly, the only thing that stays down without upsetting my stomach is milk. DH made me a strawberry and banana milkshake last night, which thankfully stayed down. Funny because the acupuncturist told me to avoid dairy!!! Its all I can eat!

Poor your LO and poor you, having to cope with MS and a sick child is not good at all. I hope she gets better soon.

Re: baby movements. I felt baby quite early on last pg, at about 16 weeks, so not long to go for some perhaps. I can only describe it as - you need to imagine bubbles bopping in a fizzy drink, it is like how I would imagine one of those bubbles popping, somewhere in my belly where I have never had a sensation before. It is unlike indigestion, in a place where you would not think indigestion would be felt. After the first couple of times, it became more like a flutter, like some-one tickling my insides with a feather, then after a while, it gets stronger and you won't be able to mistake it!!

FairyBex · 15/05/2009 11:02

Hi all - just had my scan and I'm pregnant I know it sounds silly but feel so much better now I've seen it for myself.

Now have the great job of driving to see in laws to tell them of their first grandkid, and to see most of my family including brother who's over from the states for the weekend.

Hope everyone has restful and healthy weekends.

pedalmonster · 15/05/2009 11:06

wooohoooo scan date today! yikes!

Morning all - hope everyone feeling better ,Pavlov hope you start feeling better soon - poor you.

baby movements - felt first one at 16 wks with DS1 and I am pretty sure I am feeling something now at 12 wks. kind of like butterflies in tummy.

leaving work at 12 to psych my self up for scan - and suddenly feeling sick... Had meeting with nasty boss and had to run out mid way to vom. Nice.

am in bennetton mat jeans today and amazed that they fit me and SOOOOO comfy! DH told me I look hot! sadly thats about the most sex I'll get for the next 6 months!

Cies · 15/05/2009 11:16

Morning all! Well done on the scan fairybex I know what you mean about it all seeming more real when you see it on the screen!

I'm another first timer who doesn't really look pg yet. I'm 14 weeks now, and just a bit more solid. I'm a size 14 anyway, and always had a protruding stomach, so now it just looks a bit more prominent, and when I touch it it's more solid.

I'm meeting up with a friend who's due in August this evening, so I'm sure we'll be swapping notes. I'm really pleased that our babies will be so close, it'll be nice to have someone else to go and see when we're on ML, although seeing as we only get 4 months paid here she might actually be heading back to work as I give birth.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 11:21

well done on scan fairybex!!! good to hear you are pregnant and not just eating too many donuts!!!

And good luck pedalmonster on yours today. You should have chucked up over your nasty boss, that would have been amusing . Hope you hold out well for the scan. I told them I was suffering when I had my scan and they were great, got a bowl thing in case I needed it so I did not have to leave the scan !

Good luck for anyone else who might be having scans too.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 11:24

does anyone else have bo?. I am not sure if it is that my sense of smell is really heightened, or if it is that I am actually very smelly. I think I recall it last pg too, but not sure if I am making that up in my head. Its a different smell too. I do not usually use deodorant, or shower every day but I am now having to.

skorpion · 15/05/2009 11:41

Great news fairybex, so nice to have that one over and done with.

Good luck pedalmonster, I'm sure you'll do fine. Best wishes.

Things do smell funny, pavlov. I noticed the other day that my deodorant smelled awful, not a good day in the office, that one...

I must admit that I'm generally more gassy , it's all glamour, eh? I can't wait to feel movement, but am only coming up to 12 weeks and it's my first so will probably have to wait a while yet.

Cies - it is nice to have a friend so close, my friend is a month away, very exciting. My sister has three boys so is a fountain of knowledge, although she had cs every time so is a bit squemish talking about birth...

LissyGlitter · 15/05/2009 11:49

I have a busy day today-I have my mental health doctor coming round to see me to discuss how I'm getting on. I will have to admit that i gave up on the anti-depressants as i just couldn't keep them down! I'm getting a little bit depressed, but at least I'm not getting any signs of psychosis, which is the main worry.

Then we have the landlord and the new tenants of our house coming round to arrange things like our moving out date! So I'll be moving all the way across the country sooner rather than later! I'm so nervous!

I've made the difficult decision not to work this pregnancy, as it was having DD that set me off on my (pretty serious) mental health problems last time, and i want to avoid all stress to try and make it less likely to happen again. Plus I'm finding it hard to cope without my medication anyway, never mind with extra stress of work. I just hope I can get incapacity on the basis that I would get ill if I did work but I'm mostly OK if I don't work, IYSWIM.

sleeplessinthecity · 15/05/2009 11:58

pedalmonster you made me chuckle!! thank goodness for you lot..my dh was swimming around me like a shark last night hoping to get lucky...last thing I need

pavlov is the acupuncture working at all???
thanks for the warm thoughts..we just chug along i guess..

Jealous of all you flutter bellies..i remember it wasn't until week 19/20 for me with DD..and then all I remember is little feet and fists protruding out of the belly...very funny..

lissy I hope today goes well..sounds like you had it pretty rough and its a good decision not to work and over stress this time around..you're courageous for going through this again.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 12:12

sleepless acupuncture did work for about 4 days, but it is so expensive and with DH not working I just cannot afford to continue with it. NHS acupunture nurse has 3 month waiting list

eeyore2 · 15/05/2009 12:59

Just wanted to say good luck Lissyglitter, it sounds like you are being really responsible and thoughtful to try to give yourself the best chance for this pregnancy.

LissyGlitter · 15/05/2009 13:09

thanks, i was a bit worried that I would get shouted at on here for claiming benefits!

Fruitpastels · 15/05/2009 13:28

Lissy - you need to look after yourself, DD and the new baby. You sound like a very responsible mummy

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 13:49

lissy - it is what benefits are for, exactly this type of situation - when you are not able to work, not because you don't want to. You have already said yourself, if you work it is likely to be detrimental to your health so i hope you will be entitled to incapacity benefit so that you can worry about you and your family for now.

LissyGlitter · 15/05/2009 15:17

Well, just had the meeting. They reckon that I will be entitled to DLA as well as incapacity, which on the one hand is good, because it's more money, on the other hand is a bit upsetting because they obviously see me as very ill And now DP is in a mood with me because I didn't tell him I was feeling depressed. I tried, but I started off by saying I was a bit worried about the midwife appt, and he said i was being silly, so I didn't really want to tell him any more!

Also, I didn't get the impression they think I will cope with moving to Newcastle very well-they want the details of our GP there before we move so they can send them letters and make sure that everything is set up with the specialist team there by the time we move, as apparently it is very difficult to sort things out if things go wrong. I'm petrified of getting ill again, it's just not fair on my DD.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 15:26

well done lissy, good they are feeling positive about getting dla, don;t worry about what it means to them, it means that you will be able to concentrate on yourself while you are pg, and on your LO, and not think about work until you are ready to return in the future. Its great they get it. And don't worry about your dp, he will come around when he realises he should have noticed too!!

Naetha · 15/05/2009 16:40

Hey folks, just to post that I had my 12 week scan and I'm measuring 12wks+3 - new EDD is now the 26th Nov

Was very exciting to see gremlin number 2 bouncing around inside - I remember when we went to DS1's scan that he just sat there, and we had to prod him to get him to move!

It's all starting to feel very real now, but very exciting!

Ninjacat · 15/05/2009 17:31

Lissy sometimes life just gets in the way. You know what you need to do to minimise your chances of having another episode but sometimes these things happen any way so just be kind to yourself and look out for the early warning signals.
You've got tonnes of support here and no one's judging you on your financial set up.
(((hugs)))

Ninjacat · 15/05/2009 17:35

It's good to hear about the positive scans
I am sick with as I'll have to wait another 8wks for mine. Grrrrr
Managed to go swimming today and did 34lengths but came home and ate hot buttered toast with marmite. Mmmm

katster37 · 15/05/2009 17:41

Lissy how are you doing? You absolutely should not work if you think it will make you feel worse... I have suffered from serious anxiety/depression things in the past and have had to have time off to get sorted, and absolutely no-one will be judging you. You need to look after yourself and your family. Also want to echo Pav - that is exactly what benefits are for - when you are UNABLE to work so please please don't wind yourself up about that.

Pavlov how are you?? Anymore Maccy Ds??! Actually, I went past one the other day and really fancied one!

Well, I have had a manic week at work, but MS seems to be a bit better. Just want this scan on Tues out of the way....

Am interested to read comments about movement. How early did people feel it first time around? I sometimes feel 'sensations' in my lower tummy, but it can't be movement as I am only 13 weeks.

Phew - Friday!!

southernbelle77 · 15/05/2009 17:57

congratulations to all those that had positive scans today. All good news )

Lissyglitter - I'm glad that you had the meeting and that hopefully things will be ok for you. It's good that you are considering the impact of working and it sounds best for you not to be working so claiming benefits is exactly the right thing to do.

I've been out for a spa day today! It has been soooooooooooooooooooo nice and relaxing! I think I might have felt movement while lying on the table having my facial done! Still not totally convinced that it was, but really think it might have been. Am 14 weeks tomorrow. Felt it about 20 weeks with dd.
