Hopefully this has worked?

Ooooo southernbelle I am so jealous!!

I can't wait to start feeling movements. Think it will be really reassuring. Keep noticing vague twitching when I am lying down, but I can't think it can be movement. I hope it is though.

Really can't be bothered to make dinner. Wish I had a butler!!

Munchies37 · 15/05/2009 18:05

Good to hear some positive news on the scans front - they are just amazing aren't they!

Well, this week has been a bit up and down - I got my final date for work so will be made redundant on 26 June... oh well... However, today I had an appt with my MW at the GP practice and she had a feel of my tummy, said it was the right size for the time and the fact I'm having twins, which was a big relief cos everyone keeps telling me how neat I am, but she also managed to find both the heartbeats and it's the first time I've heard them so couldn't stop smiling on the way home!

Manfrom - everyone has been really excited that it's twins. Even made a few cry they got so excited, it's been really sweet.

Lissy you're doing totally the right thing, as everyone else says, that's what benefits are for.

As for me - still feeling v. sick and forcing myself to eat food, but the MW said some people live on Maccy D's for the first few months and not to worry.

sleeplessinthecity · 15/05/2009 19:16

katster you're prob feeling your uterus stretching as 13 weeks is prob early for the first one..lots and lots of things happening to you inside but they are all good signs.

lissy glad today went well. Remember to try and communicate with your DP, it will help you both in the coming few months. Don't be alone in this, its just not fair on you.

hobnob57 · 15/05/2009 20:04

I definitely felt movement the minute the sonographer took the receiver thing off my belly during my scan at 13 weeks, and then felt it again a few times later on in that week. Things seemed to have settled down now or I'm just too busy to notice, but if I put my hand over my uterus at night I can sometimes feel it changing shape!

Lissy you are in all our thoughts. Moving is also a very unsettling experience and I'm glad your health carers seem to be bending over backwards to help you through it.

Not much news from up North except that we finally got that rain you've all been going on about this week today - it's ming in comparison to the wall-to-wall sunshine we've been enjoying all week!

I've had so much more energy this past week or so (I'm 14/15weeks now), which is just as well or else I'd never have got those reports done. However, I got home from work last night and felt like I'd been hit by a bus, and today was no improvement. Seems like it all caught up on me .

Take care, folks.

BeckyBendyLegs · 15/05/2009 20:35

Hi everyone!

I'm going to have a Maccy D's tomorrow!

Lissy big hug to you. You just have to do what is best for you and your family and your DD and future DS / DD and don't worry about what anyone thinks as it is none of their business. We're all here for you

I've got more energy too now. Previously I was dead on my feet by now and shivering under a duvet, which is good as I have lots of work on at the moment.

Better go: tea ready - pizza and chips with DH. No wine, no beer, just apple juice. Friday nights are really exciting these days!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 22:06

Becky at your maccie d tomorrow! Enjoy it!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 15/05/2009 22:26

this thread is mainly me moaning, but amongst it there is some good advice and support for all those who are suffering from the horrendous sickness. Feel free to come and join me in a moan, or to read the advice given.

It started as a moan I expected people to just be like 'oh here she blows' but its got lots of posts (although many are mine .

Naetha · 15/05/2009 22:41

I have a bit of a maccy D's thing too I'm ashamed to say!

It's pretty much the only eat-out food I can stomach at the moment, and given I'm not very good at food shopping ( so we have no food in the house) it's been a (not very) last resort about three times in the last month - not good!

Still, I had a quarter pounder with cheese meal today and it was yummy!

lemontop · 16/05/2009 08:30

I had McDonalds yesterday and left my card in the machine facing out on the front counter. Fortunately everyone was feeling honest in Hammersmith yesterday and I remembered it before I left...

I'm finding it hard to motivate myself to do stuff at the moment. Can't really be bothered making big meals which means I've eaten a lot of rubbish this week. I must write my wedding invitations today and stop lazing around!

Tabbykat · 16/05/2009 08:41

I can fully appreciate the McDonalds thing - don;t know why it helps with the sickness but it really does. I hardly ever eat it except when I'm pregnant - ashamed to say DD has had it for lunch twice last week

Glad everyone was honest Lemontop - I managed to leave my handbag with purse, phone, DD spare clothes etc in the trolley st Sainsbury's the other day and didn't realise till I got home. Luckily it had been handed in - but meade me realise I am definitely suffering baby brain!

BTW, has anyone else got really itchy skin? One of my hands is so dry dry and itchy all the time, all the skin is peeling off the palm and it's driving me mad no matter how much moisturiser I put on. Not sure if it's baby-related or if I'm just getting old and cracky.....
Hope everyone has a fab weekend,xx

Cies · 16/05/2009 11:23

Ohh, Tabbycat I've got itchy skin too. It's gone all dry and flaky on the inside of one finger, and itchy all over my palm. However I've got more oily skin on my back, chest and face, and am getting spots there. Grrrr!

Feeling shattered today, and I don't know why because I slept well. Think it might have something to do with this crap weather. We're having a lazy day in today. I'm doing some batch cooking and listening to podcasts (and mumsnetting of course ) while DH messes about on the computer.

I feel for all of you who are still feeling sick. And sorry but at the thought of Mcdonalds Although they must put something in those burgers that agrees with pregnant ladies.

sleeplessinthecity · 16/05/2009 13:45

pavlov I second that..its mainly moaning on my part too... I can't wait to stop the moaning and to start enjoying this pg. With DD i was fine by now.. my diary said so!

What to moan about today...???hmmm still sick and just polished off half a marble cake.

Cancelled night out with DH as DD is still unwell and was so looking forward to my first night out in 7 months!!!! Booked the only indian worth going to in Geneva too..

oh well, hope your weekends are good. Itchy skin is not fun, would bio oil help?? Helped with my stretch marks and i started using it as soon as I learned I was pg.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 16/05/2009 14:48

I am now medicated [woohoo i think]. I feel pleased and scared. Its different taking drugs when its just me, its only me I am responsible for (well of course there are outside responsibilities but immediately its just me), but now, what I eat could impact on the child I am carrying, its not just about my body any more, and that loss of control, that uncertainty no matter what I am told, its frightening.

But I have to do it. Its not good to keep on like this. So fingers crossed.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and to all those with Maccy D cravings!

turtle23 · 16/05/2009 15:00

I cracked and had MacDonalds as well today. G-d, it was goooooooood...

Tamlin · 16/05/2009 17:33

Pavlov, I'm SO glad you got some drugs! My first GP wouldn't give them to me even after I wound up in hospital on an IV - grr. Then my current GP told me cheerily when I first said I was pregnant that if the hyperemesis recurred, he'd be happy to prescribe them for me - it's so strange how it seems to differ from area to area. I know that they're quite pricey which is maybe why the NHS is so reluctant to dish them out...

The McDonalds thing is very odd - I thought it was only me who craved it while queasy and that it was some sort of bizarre reflex from the old uni days when I'd be trying to reel into morning lectures hungover, and McDonald's Coke and fries seemed to be the only thing that would halt the hangover in its tracks! How weird that it seems to be a general phenomenon...

BeckyBendyLegs · 16/05/2009 18:18

I had an Angus Meal at Burger King in the end and it was divine. Not a sprig of broccoli or a green leafy vegetable in sight! As I was sat there eating it I was wondering how many other pregnant women were doing the same thing. Why is it our bodies want junk? Perhaps it is a bit like the hangover thing. Ooooh it was delicious. I was shopping in B'ham today and went to Mammas and Pappas but didn't purchase as I need a bit more of a bump I think.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 16/05/2009 18:50

Oh I want a mamas and papas shop near me Glad you enjoyed the BK!

BeckyBendyLegs · 16/05/2009 19:09

DH, the DSs and I are going to a post-wedding party in Cardiff in July and I need a dress with bump room! Any suggestions for good stylish yet affordable maternity wear?

brightonbaby · 16/05/2009 19:23

BeckyBendyLegs How about the Holly Willougby range at Littlewoods. I haven't looked recently, but she always wore lovely dresses (even if some were a bit revealing ) so there could be something there.

Joycey29 · 16/05/2009 19:26

Just popped in and had hours of catching up to do!!!!
Had 12 week scan today and all good. Very low risk etc and all where it should be.
Feels very real now! Would like to stop feeling sick now as fed up with nausea and throwing up at any time of day!
Still there is a baby - so all good really!
Nov 25th here we come!!

ursigurke · 16/05/2009 19:58

I have a similar problem than Becky. Have to go to a wedding with evening or cocktail dress at the first weekend of august so will be 27 weeks. TBH, I even have problems with the terms "evening and cocktail dress" and how expensive it is supposed to be. Saw something nice on the monsoon (is that already fancy enough?) website, empire line so I guess room enough for bump. But I'm not sure if those very loose styles don't just make you look fat. I think it looks much better not to hide but to show the bump which means I would need a real maternity evening dress.
I saw a wrap dress on Isabelle Oliver, don't know if that istn't too casual here? I was thinking of trying to buy on ebay. I certainly don't want to spend too much money on a dress that I will only wear once.

ursigurke · 16/05/2009 19:59

I meant here

ursigurke · 16/05/2009 20:02

Ok, I give up, don't know why I am too stupid to post the right link. For some reason, it adds the mumsnet-address first. If you want to see the dress and judge it, you have to erase everything before www.isabellaoliver... BTW, I would rather go for the pink then for the green I think

BeckyBendyLegs · 16/05/2009 20:13

I like it. I like the pinnk one too! Mmmm. Will have to have a think!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 16/05/2009 20:19

usigurke - fab taste!!! DH has already approved me buying that exact one, but I am getting it in green! It would be fab for a cocktail eve in pink, with a light shawl and some pretty shoes.
