Evening all

Good to hear everyone's news - sorry not all good in the case of your MS pavlov Mine is definitely easing but I have been having a few really severe attacks of nausea just before going to bed, which is weird. Maybe having not had food for a while I guess. I say 'bad attacks' and feel awful since I have never actually been sick. But this extreme nausea is so hideous as well. Hurry up second trimester!

Have my first scan tomorrow afternoon (I'll be 11+5) so keep everything crossed for me, will you all?!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 13/05/2009 20:13

Raggie good luck for tomorrow, and after catching up on some of the hundreds of posts, well done all those who have had scans recently.

hobnob57 · 13/05/2009 20:20

Awww pavolov you're having such a rough ride . My MS with DD was really bad (though not hyperemesis) and I'm convinced that this time things were better because I managed to keep more calories down by eating before 5pm in the evenings. I just remember that gnawing hunger-sickness, usually accompanied by hungry acidic stomach-jumping belches. NOt nice. Fruitpastels advice about the complan sounds like a great idea, and hopefully will get you out of this under-nourished rut. Ask the pharmacist for it on Minor Ailments Service (free) and then ask your GP for a prescription if it works. What about apples?

ninja - great scheme, shame it's nowhere near Scotland!!!

southernbelle I got summoned back from work early by my childminders yesterday because DD took a sudden sore tummy and gagging fit in the park. Don't know what it was, but it was all over and done with and forgotten about by the time I got there! It must be really hard being a CM and a mum to a sick child too. I think all kids understand that at times normal rules don't apply and they have to put up with new circumstances though.

My belly seems to have taken off today - the top of it rather than the bottom! Got a few comments about 'fairly showing early this time' at work today.

Discovered that my boss is advertising my job from start of term and I'll be put on crappy admin and development work until I decide I want to leave, plus doing loads of cover lessons. BAH. Not conducive to a pleasant couple of moths at work, stuck in a small work room away from my lab whilst someone else is doing my real job.

Laugs · 13/05/2009 20:27

raggie I have my first scan tomorrow too! I'm in all alone tonight (well DD is in bed) and I'm trying anything to keep my mind off it. I'll be thinking of you and keeping fingers crossed. What time is yours at? Mine is 10.30.

brightonbaby · 13/05/2009 21:13

Laugs Raggie good luck tomorrow!

Pavlov Hope you feel better soon.

Just catching up on the messages while watching the Apprentice.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 13/05/2009 21:31

am off to bed, after managing to stay up this late! sleep well everyone, hope everyone has ms and tired free days tomorrow, and good luck all those with scans x

grace09 · 13/05/2009 22:29

laugs and raggie good luck with the scans tomorrow. raggie i totally empathise re the extreme nausea. I have got constant nausea which abates slightly when i eat some carbs. I too feel guilty complaining though when i hear what you're going through pavlov and laugs and sleepless Fingers crossed it eases soon.

Quick symptom checker! Is anyone else getting a really sore back, right in between your shoulder blades?? I'm wondering if it's to do with my the weight of my ever growing boobs which have now doubled in size!! Much to my DH's delight although all he can do is look and not touch as they are so bloomin sore!! Does that ever get better???

BeckyBendyLegs · 14/05/2009 08:20

Ooooh laugs and raggie good luck today

I've still got sore boobs Grace09. I notice them most at night when it feels like they are growing (I'm sure they can't be growing every night otherwise I'd be about a 36 ZZ by now if such a size exists!). It reminds me of how they felt when I was about 11-12 years and they started growing.

helips · 14/05/2009 08:34

laugs and raggie good luck with your scans today!

I got a letter from the hospital yesterday saying that the results of my blood test do not indicate a high risk for downs so I am very pleased! I am starting to feel less tired and not sick anymore so now I can start enjoying this pregnancy. Can feel bean moving around now too which is lovely.

pavlov sorry to hear you are still feeling so ill, really hope the build up drinks help and that you start to feel much better soon.

grace I used to get a really bad back when pregnant with ds and saw a chiropractor which really helped. Any chance your doctor could refer you?

LissyGlitter · 14/05/2009 09:03

I'm SO tired! I had a three hour nap yesterday and it didn't even help, and I'm sure DD has starting getting up earlier in the morning on purpose! Any tips? In the old days I would just load up on caffiene and fizzy sweets when tired, but that isn't really possible now! (well, maybe the fizzy sweets, but then I would feel sick!)

pavlovthepregnantcat · 14/05/2009 09:13

helips - how any weeks are you now? Feels wonderful when you can feel movement doesn't it? I am sure i felt some movement, but at 13 weeks everyone said it is impossible to be so. I know what it feels like though from DD, and its where bean would be, and I am very slight, its exactly as it should be, slight bubbly feeling, most certainly is not indigestion or gas - you reckon its possible?

pavlovthepregnantcat · 14/05/2009 09:15

Lissy - I meant to say, I have been told, and it might have been mentioned in this thread too that vitamin B6 is good for grogginess, helps to regulate energy levels - I am about to call midwife to check if this is fine for me, and check dose (was told on another thread 30mls, and if more needed no more than 100mg). Will let you know what she says.

scarlotti · 14/05/2009 10:13

pavlov I'm 14+6 today and I've been feeling odd movements for a couple of weeks now so I don't think it's too soon. This is no.3 for me so I know what to look out for. Seems to me to happen when baby swims up nearer my tummy if that makes sense!

grace yep, getting a sore back right in the middle of shoulders. I think it is extra weight, I've found that I am slouching more at my desk so keep trying to remember to sit up straight!

Good luck for the scans today

sleeplessinthecity · 14/05/2009 10:28

Good luck the scanners! here's to happy beans.

pavlov am in sympathy. This pg will get better, this is what i keep saying everyday i wake. I thought I would too be better this time but alas no.. Just take it easy and keep hoping.

I just went to get some Vit B6..i seem to be getting lots of tongue ulcers which is a lack of Vit b6. Something to try I guess, the pain is awful..Add it to all other pregnancy symptoms. Sometimes I forget I have a baby swimming inside.

DD has a cold so she was up half the night coughing poor thing. It's so hard for the little ones. Just want to make it all better for her but can't work magic!

Koumak · 14/05/2009 10:51

thinking of you todays scanners and all of you still suffering badly!
i got away again v. lightly with MS so am counting my blessings

does anybody know where to buy some good "work" black pencil skirt? I bought one from jojo but it is wasy to short for the office (or my legs!)

Koumak · 14/05/2009 10:52

i meant way too short

brightonbaby · 14/05/2009 11:23

I've been browsing maternity clothes bundles on ebay. Often, someone is selling off a whole bunch of maternity work wear or a bundle of maternity tops. Koumak you might find a black pencil skirt there.

I haven't bought anything yet though...still leaving my jeans undone and doing up the belt!

Koumak · 14/05/2009 11:46

Thanks Brightonbaby i am going to look now.
I realise this is probably a new thread but i am a complete ebay novice. how do i start? I have so much stuff (now we moved) i would like to get rid off?

brightonbaby · 14/05/2009 12:01

Hi Koumak Sign up first on ebay.co.uk and then if you plan on selling anything, it's probably worth building up a bit of a reputation as a buyer for a bit. With every purchase and every sale, you get feedback and I tend to only buy from someone with 100% positive feedback and who has sold something before.

It's great fun browsing ebay. Can't believe, I was just watching a bundle of about 30 baby girls clothes (0-3months) and it went for 7pounds! Plus a tenner in postage...but still!!

Careful you don't get too addicted

I was a bit naughty yesterday...still haven't admitted to DP...I bought a baby carrier for 15pounds...it retails at 50pounds...one of those baby bjorn ones that you hold on your chest. I'm stopping myself with the clothes though...at least until after this scan next Tuesday.

BeckyBendyLegs · 14/05/2009 12:14

Is anyone thinking of going to the baby show in Birmingham this weekend? I'm thinking but not sure yet...

scarlotti · 14/05/2009 12:24

Koumak I bought a maternity macintosh on ebay the other day for £14 - would have probably cost me £40 in the shops. Well worth it!

Tamlin · 14/05/2009 12:35

I love those baby bjorn carriers, and so did DS until he got too heavy for it.

pavlov, you have my sincerest sympathies (and admiration at coping with a little one, too). I spent some time on a hg forum with DS, and I found it really helped to talk to ohter people who were still violently ill past the point where all the pregnancy books say it will stop.

ldeeanna · 14/05/2009 12:36

Has anyone and 'Koumak' tried 'Benetton' Maternity clothes, I know Im biased but I dont sell the Maternity-but I've been to see it and its really nice-you can get it from Brighton-I think and some London shops! For those who want work clothes and smart casual.
Good luck with scans today!!
Whoever meantioned backache-I keep waking up with it on my lower back but it goes after an hour-must be sleeping awkwardly!!

OP posts:
brightonbaby · 14/05/2009 12:43

Yes, I think you're right, Ideanna, I was walking past the Brighton Bennetton store the other day and saw a dummy in the window dressed in maternity wear.

pedalmonster · 14/05/2009 12:45

Oooh yes the Beneton maternity clothes are great! Didnt buy any myself as thought they would be expensive - but my friend has given me a bunch and they are gorgeous, especially the jeans! very comfy too!

BTW does anyone know a good website for checking the laws regarding being made redundant while preg?
