Hopefully this has worked?

brightonbaby - agree with Kyte, don't worry! I had two scans, I think, one at 10+6 and one at 12+2 and the baby grew around 15mm (it's a shame, but I seem to have forgotten the sizes)
I'm sure everything will be fine!

Tabbykat · 12/05/2009 08:36

Brightonbaby don;t worry - when I had DD she was tiny at every scan and we kept having to go back. Ended up being born very long so don;t stress - if the baby moves even a tiny bit it can throw off the measurements.

Thanks for that chart BeckyBL - it was right for DD, and says we're having another girl. Not sure TBH as feel so different this time and apparently I look like I'm carrying a boy - Yep, only 14+3 and already have a real baby belly!

Congrats to all the newbies and the successful scans - it's all becoming much more real. Wish I felt a bit better though - not feeling sick everyday but if I get too tired then feel shocking and have woken up with such a headache. Sorry for grumping.

Must pull finger out as have to arrange craft activity for CM group tomorrow - cutting out bird shapes and feathers for 50 kids.....

Have a good day all, x

Tamlin · 12/05/2009 08:50

Scarlotti, 2 lbs? Really? I'm falling about laughing here, last time I got on the scale I'd easily managed half a stone.

I tried the Chinese chart, and it said I was having a boy (although if it's a Chinese chart, why does it use Roman months and years and how does that work out?) I really wouldn't mind two boys at all, that would be lovely...

sleeplessinthecity · 12/05/2009 09:08

Hi all,

Glad to hear about the positive scans katster hope it went as well as you wished.

Welcome to the forum manform and congratulations on the news. It will sink in slowly and from all my friends who have twins they are truly a joy!!

lemontop congratulations on the forthcoming nuptials..what fun..should keep you busy and I agree, spreadsheets area good way of keeping on top of things, esp costs and pricing.

am 14 +1 and still sick..not the same as with DD and am dreading that this will last the whole way through. . I so crave indian and chinese takeaways ALL the time. Geneva has nothing to offer so please ladies have some for me..

Anyone else having odd dreams about their childhood. I have my schoolmates and teachers popping into my dreams from when I was 7..very odd.

Another day of MS...hoping it will the last.

As for birth stories, all are different..lets just say mine was sort of textbook. 2 weeks over, a sweep then labour for 27 hours..pushing for 1.5hours and out pops DD at 9lbs. All with only one shot of pethidine. Funnily enough they gave me an epidural post birth to stitch me up as i had a bad tear. I was in such a state of euphoria after giving birth it was the best feeling ever..just the same as when I walked out of church after being marrying DH..awesome.

I healed up very quickly and was sore only for a few days. Breastfeeding was tough as you lot say..it hurts like hell for some as the los want to suckle like mad to relieve headaches..DD was on for 5 hours on day 2..ouch..lansinoh was a miracle cream. Just bear it for a few days and its fine afterwards. I just remember getting goosebumps and the nipples shrinking ...oh the pain!! Its all worth it though.

pedalmonster · 12/05/2009 10:02

Morning All!
Have been lurking for a while but not posted for weeks - too nervous as I have only got my scan on Friday and starting to hyperventilate....
Congratulations on all the lovely news - lots of scan news, nasty boss person gone, and WOW even a Daddy has joined our group - Welcome manfrom let us konw the due date and one of us will add you to the list.
Also starting to panic about what if they find twins in my tum! Yikes! Only 12w today but tummy so huge now that my sisters little boy just came out and said Aunty Pedalmonster are you having a baby cos your tummys fat. DH thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard (jake is only 3).
Have to agree with everyone who can't step into the kitchen - thank goodness for waitrose ready meals otherwise my family would have starved by now.
Have a lovely day - I am WFH yippee so can avoid my nasty boss person.... although now that he knows he is giving me a wide berth (probably scared of HR things now!)
xx

pedalmonster · 12/05/2009 10:04

PS the prediction chart - wow thats amazing. Got DS right, and says another boy! :-) I dont mind either, obviously. another boy would be amazing. But a little girl would also be amazing!!! :-) (sister jokes it may be one of each!)

brightonbaby · 12/05/2009 10:27

Thanks so much for all the reassurances. It's so good to hear. Googling this just hasn't come up with much. Guess, I've just got to wait patiently now...one more week for the next scan.

Welcome to Manfrom. Nice to have a man on here too!

sleeplessinthecity I keep having dreams from childhood...or with old school friends. Last night I was out with one girl (haven't seen her for 15 years) and stayed out until 6am. Felt like I had been up all night when I woke up this morning!

pedalmonster · 12/05/2009 10:53

brightonbaby forgot to say - are you quite slight or DP/DH quite small?
Thing is, like the other ladies are saying, every baby grows at a different rate, and the figures they have are are averages - which means that there are some larger and some smaller. Just wait until your baby is born, and then the panic continues with those growth charts! I'm sure your baby is perfect and try not to worry - but at least you get another scan!
re: Dreams - uhuh! I was up all night trying to find my aunties Coconut Palm tree which needed watering... sadly no George Cloony dreams this time round, but when I was expecting DS I had a couple of REALLy good dreams about david beckham - and i never really fancied him anyway. mmmm.

scarlotti · 12/05/2009 10:56

Tamlin yeah, lol at the 2lbs, although with my last 2 pg's I was about that. heavens knows how big I'll end up with this one, already feel huge as it is.

Chinese chart got ds right but dd wrong. Says this is a boy ... but I want a girl

Running out of clothes to wear now, all trousers no longer fit except one pair. Only have t-shirt type things for tops so going to have to find something nicer for the office.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/05/2009 11:30

I'm sitting here trying to get up the energy to go get DS2 from nursery.

I married a very tall DH so the DSs were quite big babies (9lb 13oz and 9lb 4oz). I always envy those who have nice 7lb babies. A friend of mine gave birth to a 12lb girl her first time. Ouch. But basically I think the sizing business at scans cannot possibly be an exact science. When I had my scan they added on a week to my dates but I'm sceptical.

helips · 12/05/2009 11:36

hobnob I do pilates and did when pregnant with ds up until 2 weeks before he was born. Don't do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable and nothing lying on your stomach now. You can still do exercises on your back for a little while longer but let the pilates instructor know you are pregnant and she will advise what you should and shouldn't do.

brightonbaby just to echo what everyone else is saying, alot can happen in a week and they all grow at different speeds, sure everything is ok but will keep everything crossed for next week.

brightonbaby · 12/05/2009 12:15

Actually DP (DH to be - we're getting married in two weeks, eek!) is very tall at 6'3. And I'm very small at 5'2, so maybe the little one is taking after me, or maybe he's just a chiller, like his Dad [hmmm] and taking his time growing. Hope it's just that.

Time to get on with some work. Better to distract myself from these up and down thoughts and excessive googling.

At least the little one had a strong heart beat and was kicking a lot on the scan. So, it's trying to grow, I'm sure.

Your messages are really, really reassuring. Thank you.

manfrom · 12/05/2009 13:00

Thanks everyone for the messages.

@ pmonster - Due date was supposed to be the 20th Nov but I guess that will come forward perhaps by a couple of weeks.

Think the missus is a bit more relaxed about everything today - thank goodness. She is mainly concerned about how 2x will ever fit in there for the next 6 months, and how they will get out!

I will be asking the doc for a lorryload of this cyclizine stuff for the MS....

The literature on twins is almost overwhelming. I never thought I would have to worry about zygotes again after finishing 'A' level biology!

Have a hunch it will be a boy and a girl - which puts paid to my latest idea of calling them Ronnie and Reggie...

scarlotti · 12/05/2009 13:24

Not necessarily - Ronnie can be a girl

claired21 · 12/05/2009 13:24

Hi manfrom

I have a twin brother and he's my best friend, we are really close, even now in our mid twenties and we both have our own families! Twins are amazing so enjoy every minute! I have my scan next Wed and I'm thinking there will be one baby as I hear they skip a generation and I can only imagine the hard work involved with more than one newborn but it really is a blessing so good luck!

eeyore2 · 12/05/2009 13:34

Brightonbaby - good luck with your wedding! I hope you relax and have a wonderful day. I strongly agree wtih Becky on the excel spreadsheets by the way.
Manfrom - congrats on the twins! How incredibly exciting!! I'm sure it will take time for it all to sink in but then just imagine the fun you will have.
I am now 14+2 and am still being sick occasionally but generally feel much better. Still quite tired though. I am still not quite back to my pre-pregnancy weight but I do have a little bump now which I am sure is going to grow and grow over the next few weeks. I hate all my clothes at the moment, grr, but am not really ready for maternity clothes though.

pedalmonster · 12/05/2009 13:45

manfrom yes - term for single babies is usually 40 wks but only 37 for twins. A lady I know had twins after several runs of IVF - tragically they were born at 23 weeks and the whole town was grouped round for support, cooking stuff etc. Amazingly 2 yrs on the 2 little boys are perfect and you would never guess they were so early!
I'm sure yr twinnies will have enough room to grow -and as for getting them out.... well, I'm sure they will come out eventually!
Oooh does this mean we can speculate on cool names for twins?
are you going to find out the genders? how exciting.
Advice for manfrom for helping your DW though the sickness and hormones - "dont be annoying" sorry but you should hear some of us rant about our DH / DP! haha.
clair21 you never know....
BBL Please tell us that you did collect DS2 from nursery...!

pedalmonster · 12/05/2009 13:46

Sorry - didnt mean to upset / offend with previous post about early babies - but just for reassurance that Medicine has come a long way...

Ninjacat · 12/05/2009 14:37

We wanted Ronnie for a girl this time (I think it's probably a boy though) but people keep telling us there's a Ronnie in Eastenders so having a change of heart.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/05/2009 14:47

Outside DS2's nursery today someone was there with two totally gorgeous twin boy babies: I wanted to take them home! They were fast asleep and just looked so cute.

I think Ronnie and Reggie (a girl and boy) is really great for names!

Pedalmonster I did fetch DS2 today - I was just tired and felt like having a moan about it! Walking to school and back 3 times a day is getting to me. I have to go again in 10 mins to get DS1. Sigh!

At the moment my days are really restricted as it means I can't do very much or go too far. I work from home so I just drop the DSs off, go home, do a bit of work, fetch DS2, go home have lunch, put DS2 to bed, do a bit of work, get DS2 up, fetch DS1, then the three of us collapse on the sofa!

Right, time to get DS2 up and go back to school. Sigh!

Ninjacat · 12/05/2009 15:00

You might have to be careful Ronnie and Reggie haven't begun their life of crime already.
Not sure what they could get up to in utero though?

Ninjacat · 12/05/2009 15:26

Or how about Bonny and Clyde? If it is one of each.

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/05/2009 18:02

My latest discovery: Muller light rhubarb yoghurts. Yum city!

katster37 · 12/05/2009 18:08

DH and I joked that if we had twins (one of each) we'd call them Nick and Margaret after The Apprentice

Brightonbaby also how sure are you of your dates / ovulation? If you ovulated a week later than you thought, then that could fit anyway?? But to echo everyone else, these charts seem quite random anyway, and just the way the sonographer was measuring mine (seemed quite haphazard) made me think at the time that you could easily be out by a few mm. And at least you get to go back. Were you at King's? I am back there on Tues to check its heartrate - I have hears King's are SUPER strict at getting people back in and double checking everything, so it could be a bit of that as well.

Well I am 12+3 today and can honestly say I have felt really well today I was sick first thing, as always, but really felt quite normal all day. Please tell me others have started to have normal days around this time?? The whole of last week was dreadful, but I really feel quite good today!! Which is good as tomorrow is the whole of KS1's trip to the seaside (3 hours on a coach... Lots of sickly children.... Aaaaaaaagh)

BeckyBendyLegs · 12/05/2009 18:13

I started feeling more normal around 11 1/2 weeks (or 12 1/2 weeks according to my scan dates). I hardly feel sick at all now 13 1/2 weeks - I still get this strange breathlessness feeling though. The tiredness has receded too. I lasted until 10.30pm last night!

Good luck tomorrow Katster. Is KS1 reception / year 1 sort of age? DS1 started school this year and I still don't really know what KS1 and KS2 mean. Is it infants and juniors?
