beanieb so sorry to hear. Take care x

timmette · 04/06/2009 10:23

Oh no BeanieB I am sorry that happened in my last pregnancy - if you do want to talk or I can help in anyway let me know.

somewhathorrified · 04/06/2009 10:32

Beanieb so sorry about that, next time.

crazyclarebear if you are wanting to actually have moved by September try looking into auctions. You have to complete in a month and neither party can pull out once the gabble hits so it makes purchasing really quick.

sazlocks hypnobirthing? did you actually do this? if not has anyone else? it sounds amazing! need to look into it. It could be an improvement on my hubby's suggestion of listening to loud music, not entirely sure how the midwife would feel about slipknot at full volume.

dogrilla · 04/06/2009 11:08

Hello there

Can I please join in the fun? Due on 28 January and live in SW2, London. Went to see the doctor for the first time yesterday but she couldn't get me out of the surgery fast enough! Feel totally in the dark about what's supposed to happen next.

Beanie, really am very sorry to hear your news. I hope the next few weeks are ok for you.

coffeeicecream · 04/06/2009 12:02

Beanie,
How horrid for you am thinking of you and sending lots of hugs take care keep in touch.

nervoussara · 04/06/2009 12:23

so sorry Beanieb. Take care.xx

kittykat765 · 04/06/2009 13:48

Oh beanieb am so sorry hun. Hope to see you back and happily pg as soon as you feel ready.

My dr is completely barking. Went to see her today to get a sick note for work. They had no appointments monday so spoke to the practice nurse. They had no appointments tuesday and said earliest available appointment today. Off I go to my appointment only to be told my sick note cannot be backdated because they have not seen me.

Then had my ante-natal appointment to collect my notes and midwife was very about the dr as well. Looks like I am going to have another high risk pregnancy as my blood pressure was 144 over 94. I just hope it doesn't develop into pre-eclampsia again. I am going to be having appointments at either the hospital or with the midwife about every fortnight apparently. At least that will give me plenty of time off work.

Sersi I can't speak for how your son will react, however for my second child's birth my son was picked up by my in-laws and stayed with them for the day (picked up about 9am when labour was fully established and came home about 5pm, DD was born at 3.30pm) Just seemed easier than my DH having to think about him when I wanted him with me.

My DH was concerned when we first discussed HB but we did lots of research together and our midwives office held a homebirth evening where a couple who had recently given birth at home came in to talk to us about it and we could ask questions, that was really helpful. There was a really good book that was aimed more towards Dads and a natural birth (but not exclusively so)that we found fantastic called "the Birth Partner"
www.amazon.co.uk/Birth-Partner-Complete-Childbirth-Companions/dp/1558323570/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=boo ks&qid=1244121444&sr=8-1
It gives lots of good empowering info without being too "lentil weavery"

Second time round it really was a no brainer to have a homebirth.

Wrt emergency situations remember there are lots of reasons why your midwife may say a homebirth is a no go, there will only want you to go ahead if you are low risk and all the stats show that if you are low risk homebirths are safer and have better medical outcomes than hospital births. Talk to your midwife and get all the info from her, they are usually very eager to talk about it.

Last thing (sorry I know this is long ) I never in a million years would have thought I would have had a homebirth, I've never had a problem with hospitals and I have a very low pain threshold. In fact at my booking in appointment with my midwife for my first preg I told them I wanted a hospital birth. But then when I started to look into the pain relief techniques I realised many options had side effects and the best way was to go natural and if I was doing that the best place to be for a positive outcome was at home......

Very last thing I'm actually in Toronto Canada, and we are WAY behind the UK wrt homebirths, its considered a very "extreme" option over here, you can't even have any pain relief at home here not even gas and air....so IMHO you are in one of the best places to have a homebirth!

skidoodle · 04/06/2009 14:30

Oh beanieb I'm so, so sorry to hear your news

I think I can safely say that you'll be very much missed on this thread.

I hope another ante-natal thread will get you soon, once you've had a chance to recover and get your head back together.

Pepa · 04/06/2009 14:33

beanieb just want to add sympathies, hang in there and hope to see you on the AN threads soon.

beanieb · 04/06/2009 14:36

thanks all, have had a big cry and trying to get my head straight. Honestly don't want to bring this thread down in any way. Shit happens and I'll be ok. Not thinking of this as the loss of a baby but more a missed opportunity. Am sure there eill be another time.

I wish you all a really happy and healthy pregnancy xxx

somewhathorrified · 04/06/2009 15:57

pepa thanks for the info, call me dense but I hadn't even thought about books!

dogrilla welcome, and although my Dr. was great (turned out to be a Hindu dude, who was very chilled and in his words "just be happy") I too have no idea what the hell is going on. I went to my first Midwife appt thinking she was going to tell me what to expect, but she was more concerned with getting me to make a decision about where I was going to give birth! Er...it's like 7 months away! I never plan what's happening next week, 7 months is...well...it's next year! Fair do's she did make me feel a little concerned when I pointed out that I don't do 'girlie' and the whole female thing freaks me out, she replied "are you sure you want a baby?".

misschatterbox · 04/06/2009 16:42

A round of applause please ladies. After two days of feeling sick and lazy before going to work. This morning, although feeling sick I managed to actually do some housework, bake cakes with my dd and mow the front lawn, all before going to work at lunch time. I know it's not much, but feels like a huge accomplishment at the moment.

misschatterbox · 04/06/2009 16:43

Oh, Beanie, so sorry about your news. I'll be thinking of you.

Sersi · 04/06/2009 17:45

thanks pepa for the info. we are definitely going to look into this seriously. I only used gas & air for my previous 2 births and it was all very straight forward. Most negative thing was DH having to go home and me left on my own (with new baby of course) - from that point being at home certainly sounds wonderful.

I live a long way from family so would be tricky to take the children anywhere else, although my mum would probably be with us to look after them they would need to stay in the house.

well done misschatterbox I am very impressed. I was leaving housework for the 2nd trimester!!

dal21 · 04/06/2009 17:46

Oh Beanieb - to you. Am so very sorry, please look after yourself and if you want to, please pop back on here. xx

oh beanieb i'm so sorry. you were my due date twin. trying not to do a cry, i know how awful it is to see no heartbeat on a scan. i really hope you do ok. have been through same twice so if you want to chat pm me.

beanieb - i'm so sorry for you, i know, like you say, shit happens but it still must be so rough for you at the moment. take care of yourself xx

pepa- my midwife also started pushing the homebirth idea when i saw her on tuesday. apparently i'm an ideal candidate and i was pretty up for it anyway. Can't believe they don't promote it more in Canada - such a vast country, you would have thought it would be the norm...

...which leads me on nicely to my location: Norfolk (which is really such a vast, spread-out county in English terms and only really has one proper hospital, albeit a flagship one) another reason why i'm hoping for a homebirth.

oh, and i forgot to say, anyone who's really suffering from morning sickness should try out the 'sea bands' you can buy in Boots; they look a bit like 80's sweat bands and are designed for motion sickness but i bought some today and i've gone from feeling sick constantly this morning (and most of the past 3 weeks) to feeling actually ok. And i've just had my dinner too, which is the real test. After most meals i'm ready to hurl, but so far so good.
