spangle anything you want to ask those of us that have been through being a mum for the 1st time.... just ask. No matter how silly you think it might sound it won't be at all!!! We're all desperate to be joining you again and more than a little of you at the moment in the nicest possible way

I should head off to bed soon... just got to finish uploading some new pics/videos of ds on facebook.

FiKelly · 19/04/2009 23:06

morning all. very tired today don't feel like i've slept enough. had really tight pains across the top of the bump yesterday -were these BH? i thought they shouldhave been lower like period pains.

anyway, were painful and felt like tummy cramps so i worried that the camembert i ate gave me food poisoning. they went away and i'm fine now so prob BH.

llareggub, about your stepmum/dad. hope things are ok today and it was just a misunderstanding of some sort.

divedaisy, agree with dandy about dog poo. it's awful, isn't it? tood dog out the other day and tried to pick up poo with the bag and missed the bag - uuuugghhh! had to walk home with a slightly poo-ey hand as a leaf doesn't work as well as a wetwipe. am sick of poo, toddler and dog! still smelling the dog poo on my hand 5 days later. disgusting.

have nothing planned today but hope it isn't too nice so I have an excuse to stay at home with DDs (lazy me). can't walk far comfortably.

hope you had a good night. hope looby ok today. and be back on later to say hello.

Jennster · 20/04/2009 08:44

sophietom Have CD in my sports rucksack, and am going to yoga this afternoon and aquanatal tomorrow.

Morning all. Am exhausted too. What a fabulous weekend for weather! Yesterday saw me going to church with both children on my own while dh went to buy a BBQ and food. I ended up with a stoppy phonecall because he was harrassed. He had forgotten the list, had a full basket and his back hurt poor love. It took a good 2 hours for him to assemble the BBQ but it is a pretty good one. I managed to make a pavlova base and some bread dough before church, and came home to a perfect meringue and made up the dough into a tear and share bread which was delicious. Made loads of salads and then had a fab afternoon in the garden with my sister, her fella and couple of neighbours popped in later for drinks. I had a lovely glass of Chablis. Only thing was my sister hasn't got a baby head yet and although not lazy, didn't pick up on the ffs I need to sit down and not have to run after 2 toddlers and sort out all the food. I bet it will be a different story then.

I really need to listen to my hypnotherapy CD. Not listened to it enough recently.

Getting the central heating replaced Wenesday to Friday, so can't go into labour before then. Had my birth pool delivered yesterday too. Just waiting for the liners and lid in the post.

Hope everybody enjoying this fabulous weather.

flippineck · 20/04/2009 08:59

Morning!

looby - guess you won't see this for a while, but thinking of you! Hope all goes well.

belgian - welcome back! Yay for head down baby, but boo for consultant's views. Hope the appt with the cmw goes well.

llaregub - sorry to hear your news, maybe thinkgs will become clearer over the next few days.

I'm a lady of leisure today! DD is at the childminder's, so I've got a day to myself. Seeing the chiro this morning and my kitchen is filthy, but apart from that nothing planned.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 20/04/2009 09:10

Morning all.
belgian glad to see you back and with positive news about your LO turning. Fingers crossed it will all stay that way and you can have the HB you want. Sounds like you had a much needed rest in hospital too. Lucky you!!
looby hope you get in today. Thinking of you!

I had mild contractions last night ( I think). They woke me up about 4am and went on for about an hour and a half till I managed to get back to sleep. They were mild but quite frequent. Like bad period pain and in the lower back and abdomen area. I had tons of braxton hicks yesterday, and felt baby move down again as I had a real heavy feeing and some sharp pains. Anyway, nothing doing this morning. Plan on doing nothing today as feel shattered! May just get hospital bag sorted and leave it at that today!

So once bag sorted, feel like we are ready to go. Come on baby, anytime you like now.....

New pushchair arrived yesterday. Well, newish. We've bought it off a friend. Its a Mutsy 4Rider, and looks great. We had a Mutsy before and loved it but I bust the car seat so would have had to replace that. Anyway, some friends wanted rid of their complete system inc a car seat so we had that off them for not much more than a new car seat would have cost.

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 09:30

Morning ladies.

No luck with the hospital again. MW's are happy to induce me but consultant won't give go ahead until there is a definite available cot in SCBU . they have told me they might ring back this afternoon to go in tonight but I don't really hold out much hope at the moment.

Just keep thinking - this baby is getting bigger each day and they were already mentioning CS when they booked me in for IOL

So once again I am in limbo.

llare sorry to hear about your family problems.

belgian glad to see you're back an well done on baby being head down.

Hardly slept last last had bad period-like pains really low down, so bad at one point that they woke me up.

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 09:33

tumum congrats on getting your pool set up - I'm so at all of you planning HB

Jennster · 20/04/2009 09:38

Looby I'll be thinking of you today. Good luck.

Belgian You really do have an acrobatic lo don't you? So so pleased lo is aiming the right way. I'm really hoping you get your Hb.

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 09:40

I may have to go shopping to cheer myself up

Belgianchocolates · 20/04/2009 09:54

Morning everyone,

Gosh, had a terrible night's sleep. My pelvis was more painful than ever. Thanks to my hospital admission I haven't been able to collect my prescription from the chemist and so I was stuck with just paracetamol yesterday. I want this baby out this week and so dh and I tried some baby removal action, but nothing has happened at all. I suppose it is still a bit early at 37 weeks, but still can't help but living in hope...

The dcs are back at school now so it'll be lovely and quiet again during the day. I need it. The weather is lovely and I've got the patio doors open, but now I've got a new problem. The carpenter promissed to make a gate for the decking in the last half term and he still hasn't done it, so the chickens are going on the decking and now they keep trying to get in . I think I'll have to close the doors again and I don't want to, the weather is too nice.

looby That's bad about your induction. I'm sure with us they start the induction of diabetic mums whether there's a cot available or not, because half the time the babies don't need to go down AND in case of a problem they always seem to find a little space somewhere.

It's quite exciting to see how many of you are starting to get those very first signs that your body is getting ready for labour: strong regular braxton hicks, shows,... Who will be the first person to join Spangle in the new mummy list...

Oh and divedaisy I agree with everyone else. Collecting dog poo is not a job for a heavily pregnant woman. I'm amazed you can bend down that far!

Gert2a · 20/04/2009 10:05

Morning all!

It's a beautiful day in West Yorkshire.

Looby sorry to hear about another day in limbo for you.

Belgian welcome back, very for you re baby position, but very very too! Baby gert2a is still thinking that having it's head right up under my ribs is the best position to be in. Can't expect it to be any different really, it's taking after it's abnormal parents already.

We had our final visit to hospital for foetal monitoring on saturday. Maternity triage was closed (where I was supposed to be monitored) so they took me down to the delivery suite, the member of staff who took us down there decided to give us a tour of the theatre whilst there. Really glad she did it, although it was a bit scary, I can now picture where it is and what it looks like and how it'll feel walking towards the anaesthetic room on elcs day! So not as scary hopefully on the day.

Going to local children's centre today to meet the breastfeeding support people.

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 10:10

Have just uploaded some bump pics

I feel huge now, and think LO has dropped down more since these were taken on sat.

Lovely weather here too, have sent DH off to work as there was no point us both hanging around waiting for a call.

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 10:18

Excuse the p*ssed off expression on my bump pics - I don't really like having my picture taken but haven't got any to remember pg by and DH wanted to take some.

Have just rearranged my opticians appointment for today so will have my posh new glasses to go to hospital with - yay!

Need to get out of the house so I'm not sat here moping.

Belgianchocolates · 20/04/2009 10:20

looby lovely bump! Looks about my size bumt too.

DH has put some old stair gates by the decking. Hopefully the chickens wont find a way through. Last year they were like little commando chickens and got through every barrier we ever put up to stop them from getting on.

gert2a Hey, maybe your baby might surprise you like mine. I never even felt it spinning itself around into the right position

frazzledoldbag · 20/04/2009 10:20

Hi all. Just popping in quickly to say good luck to looby - what a nightmare you're still waiting. Fingers crossed you get admitted this afternoon and things get going quickly.

llareggub · 20/04/2009 10:24

Looby I second what Belgian says. Sending babies born to mothers with diabetes routinely to SCBU is contrary to the national guidelines. All they have in SCBU is blood sugar monitoring, which they can do anywhere. I'm off to ring our Head of Midwifery to make sure they don't the same to me...

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 10:25

belgian your chickens sound like mine
we've been trying to chicken-proof the veggie patches but its not easy!

I forget - do you know if your having a boy or girl belgian

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 10:29

cheers llare I know the hospital are just covering their backs as it were, in fact the MW that saw me on sat said that if necessary they can monitor on the ward, which is what I want anyway as I don't want the LO taken away from me.

Hence the reason I have been perservering with the expressing, etc.

llareggub · 20/04/2009 10:32

Oh good, yours seem sensible! DS was monitored on the ward and it just involved a teeny heel prick every so often which upset me more than it did him. Your expressed milk or straight from the source milk will play a major part in stablising your baby's blood sugar in any case. I've just rung the Head of Midwifery and she isn't there.

I've been told the policy has changed but the message doesn't seem to have been spread amongst the staff on labour ward. My consultants are very supportive of my stance, but no one seems capable of making a decision. I feel very strongly about it though, as I had a horrid run-in with a nurse on SCBU after DS was born.

Maybe your baby will come on its own, Looby?

Reggiee · 20/04/2009 10:39

Morning all. Gorgeous day here - may sit on my ball in the garden all afternoon . Just got up after retunring to bed for two hours after sending dh to work and lo to nursery. Bliss!

Looby that you are still in limbo. How frustrating. Enjoy your shopping trip and the opticians (but don't overdo it ). I'm rubbish at choosing glasses for myself.

Belgian lovely to see you back.

Llare so sorry to hear about your dad and stepmum, especially as it was so out of the blue. Hope you're ok and you manage to get some details.

Gert I'm in W Yorks. Where are you giving birth?

I'm joining in those of you with pre labour symptoms. Not helped by the fact I seem to be symptom spotting every minute of the day though. I've lost my cervical 'plug' . Is this the same thing as a show? There was no blood mixed with it though. Brqaxton Hicks have been so painful too over the past week. Never had either of these with my first so it's new territory for me.

I've now completed my big long list of things 'to do' before the baby comes . This week will be one of relaxation and rest, and the weather has cheered me up no end.

Have a good day all!

Reggiee · 20/04/2009 10:40

OMG - it takes me so long to write my post, you've nearly filled up a page in the time!!

LoobyLou36 · 20/04/2009 11:09
