Oh Belgian what a nightmare ! Best of luck, will be thinking of you.

OP posts:
FiKelly · 16/04/2009 13:17

well my pal and her dc's have gone home.. now having lunch. ds had a great time with will and his elder brother me and lucy got to natter on the sofa while lawrence (who's 8) bless him kept the toddlers occupied.. he tried to tidy up after them too but there was just too much devastation creative play for one to clear up from!

dandy good job you chased them! june would have been useless!! ouch re your dd sore bits.. for some reason i'd never thought about chicken pox breaking out there too.

rmonkey i too found my ante-natal classes rubbish.. i'd bought the sandra kitzinger pregnancy and childbirth book at the beginning of my pregnancy with ds and it went into far more detail than the classes. i'd also had to ask/chase my mw of that time for everything the book said i should get.. or i too wouldn't have had the classes etc. this time i phoned the hospital myself to book for a tour.. as it's a new one for this birth..

Spangle ds was the same.. one of his most active times was 3.30am in my tummy.. then when he was first born he continued! it was the time i struggled with most..

pulapula · 16/04/2009 13:18

belgianchocs- gosh, didn't realise it was so serious if baby was transverse, or is it due to its size too? Anyway, good job you know the score and can make an informed choice about your plan of action- i would just be doing whatever they said!

Glad that DH is on his way back home to be with the kids- otherwise i guess they would have to let them stay in hospital with you?

Good luck! I'll be thinking of you and will await your news!

divedaisy · 16/04/2009 13:18

Belgian - hospital is the place to be - you know that! Not the most exciting of places though!! I have added you to the 'coming soon' list (hope you don't mind!). Take care of yourself and bump! Big hugs to you and let us know how you get on. Oh and bring plenty of chocolate! xx

Oh my goodness Belgian. I hope you don't have to be in there for too long. I hope the baby pops into a better position for you. Good luck honey!!

Choc- Glad to hear you sounding so positive and things are going well. Not long till the wedding now.

DD is asleep thank goodness as she was very busy this morning. I feel guilty as I'm too tired to go out but this is the only day we have stayed at home.

SpangleMaker · 16/04/2009 13:19

Oh belgian what a pain! Any hope of the spinning babies techniques working for you? Very best of luck whatever course of action you end up taking xx

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 13:26

belgian big hugs hunny.. good luck in hospital and look forward to hearing your next news when you get back home hopefully v soon...

divedaisy · 16/04/2009 13:26

I had a lovelyl bath last night. I tried to trim lady garden - I'm afraid I wont be winning any design awards! I couldn't see what I was doing even with a mirror! And I think it was the last time I'll be shaving my legs until after...

Anyway I ended up with an absolutely horrendous headace (wonder if it had anything to do with the hot bath??) across my forehead and also the base of my skull at the back. I did manage to sleep but every time I woke up to turn over my head hurt so much. Eventually I got up at 4am to get 2 co-codamol and had a slice of crusty bread, butter and banana. THankfully the headache has settled today, but feel totally shattered. Thank goodness for Wii Lego Indiana Jones game - that's entertaining ds plenty. I've spent all day here catching up and now need to disappear again and get more of the accounts/VAT return done. I was impressed that I did actually sit down yesterday and get my 'money in' bit nearly done! Today Ihave to do the 'money out' which never is as nice to do!!!!

And I need to get us lunch; but ds & I only had breakfast around 11am.... am I a bad mum??? But ds didn't waken me until about 10:15am... feel very lazy and fed up...

pulapula · 16/04/2009 13:27

chocbunnies- I think diamorphine will be very similar to pethadine- really strong pain relief but also makes you a bit woosey- i know with pethadine i didn't want it as it can pass over to the baby and make them sleepy - not sure if diamorphine does the same (maybe start a thread and you'll get some answers). I had a canula (sp?) put in my tummy in case i needed diamorpine after my cs but i didn't, so i've never had it myself.

ladyhelen i think once the spots have all crusted over, your friend's LO shouldn't be contageous anymore. It's worth checking with them as to what stage its at, and googling it on NHS direct to decide whether its worth the risk or not.

divedaisy · 16/04/2009 13:28

OK away to get off my fat arse!

Lazzer · 16/04/2009 13:33

Good luck Belgian. hope you don't have to be stuck in the hospital for too long... or, if you do - then a nice healthy baby comes out with you!

runningmonkey · 16/04/2009 13:38

Ooh good luck belgian all fingers and toes crossed for you xx

Lazzer · 16/04/2009 13:39

My sister had diamorphine early on in labour last November (2nd child). But thinks it wasn't a great choice as she stayed about 5 cm (or something like that - not sure exactly which cm) dilated for 3/4 hours after that - she was very drowsy and I think it can make the baby drowsy too (which might slow down the labour).

She did say that it felt very very nice though so I'm not ruling it out!

Momino · 16/04/2009 13:39

oh goodness, Belgian! hope she's ok and baby turns for her.

I can't believe it's all happening for us!

divedaisy, you're not a bad mummy but a lucky mummy to have a little lie in - please don't feel fed up.

about ladygarden trimming. have yet to do mine but have bought a babyliss bikini trimmer and laughed as there were stensils of a heart and lightening bolt included . Anyone dare me?

also just had a bit of a clean but think that's it for the day. have sanded/rubbed oil into our new kitchen worktop (needs to be done every 3 days). then tackled the lounge and again found myself washing the skirting boards... why???? it's probably a useless job as the walls of the room are very dingy so no one will notice the clean (ish) skirting boards (except me ).

Blottedcopybook · 16/04/2009 13:46

Oh no Belgian how scary I hope baby turns for you - good luck!

Momino You HAVE to!

pulapula I believe it's because there's a significantly higher risk of cord prolapse with a transverse baby so it's safer for Belgian and the baby if they're as close as can be to an operating theatre. If her waters were to break and the cord was to come first, they'd have a matter of minutes to get the baby out.

Febes · 16/04/2009 13:46

Lady gardening- I thook DD swimming on Monday so thought I had better tidy the area a bit. I had an attempt with a few wax strips and just had to hope for the best as I couldn't see anything. When I got to the pool I saw a woman with the hairiest bikini line I have seen in a long time so I needn't have worried .

Blottedcopybook · 16/04/2009 13:47

Oh - I had diamorphine whilst labouring with #1 and I hated it. It doesn't take the pain away, it just makes you not care about it - I was falling asleep in between my contractions and talking absolute mince. It's apparently medical grade heroin!

pulapula · 16/04/2009 13:50

Thanks blotted- my DS was transverse until around 34/35 weeks and turned himself but guess as belgian is now 37 weeks the chance of waters breaking etc is much higher. Didnt realise it was so serious so agree that hospital is the best place to me if something happens.

Jael · 16/04/2009 13:51

Hi everybody,

my better half has asked me to let u all know that she has been admitted again, currently relaxing (lol) in the city general waiting for an MRI. They think migrane not stroke, to our great relief!
Baby is doing fine thankfully still on course for the planned 'C'at the moment. Holding out for the new hospital

pulapula · 16/04/2009 13:55

Mr Jael- thanks for letting us know about Jael. Fingers crossed all is OK and that as you say its migraine-related, although sounds very worrying for you both.

Momino · 16/04/2009 13:56

about cord, transverse, etc. my MW told me to ring the hospital if my waters break in the next weeks before my 40wk appt since as of yesterday the head wasn't engaged, still room to move around. So, she was still concerned about cord-wrapping scenario.

blotted, damn. didn't want anyone to dare me as I'll have to now. actually have to figure out first how the thing works .

Momino · 16/04/2009 13:57

that was so nice of MrJael! I'm glad she and baby are in good hands.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 16/04/2009 14:01

Thank you Mr Jael (and pleased to see you acknowledge her as the 'better half' ). I hope the MRI goes ok, how worrying, I am thinking about her.

Belgian thinking about you too, hope everything goes ok......

Momino I'm thinking lightning bolt - so classy and what a lovely surprise for the midwife!!!!!! Oh and skirting boards? What is wrong with you, woman? Honestly, anyone would think you were pregnant or something.

DD1 buggered off to her friend's house now, so I can sneakily wrap her presents up. We've just been out to buy party food for our little family birthday tea tomorrow. We went to Iceland to buy it - how cheap am I?

Spangle Funnily enough I said to DH "I hope this LO doesn't keep these hours when it's born". I seem to remember DD2 doing that. Grrrrr!

Off to Lush in a few minutes to buy present for DD1 from DD2. I think a pink bath bomb is just the ticket.......

emmabemmasmom · 16/04/2009 14:04

Tumum Thanks! We spoke last night and DH asked his questions which mostly revolved around something going wrong. As I did my research I was able to answer his questions so in the end he said if it was what I wanted to do then he was all for it...
ReeBee Well happy bday to us! Lol I am hoping for the same as I would love to have my one day but we shall see!

llare Good luck, can?t wait for news!

Runningmonkey Oh that does not sound good! Is there anything else you can do? Maybe call NCT and try to get in on that? Explain the situation and maybe they would let you jump in for a few meetings? I know they do a lower income rate too if that is a worry at all...when we had DD we were really poor so only paid £20 I think for the whole course... You don?t even have to show anything you just say you don?t have money and they trust you and give you the cheaper rate or ask what you can afford. Hope you get something worked out so you feel better!

belgian Good luck!! Oh it is all going so fast

So I spoke to the midwife today about a HB and she seemed a little freaked out that I waited so late to ask. However, she did seem positive(ish). Told me there may be staff issues, and needing the risk assessment on the house...blah blah. I ended up just saying ok in a positive way but having done my research I know if I wanted to give birth in a tent in the back garden then they really can?t say no, so I will hold my tongue until I have to! She is due to call me today or tomorrow once she speaks to the higher ups...so fingers crossed. Trying not to get my hopes up but it is hard as I am already excited about the possibility...

Oh and they did a full blood count today too (36 weeks) even though we all talked yesterday and said they shouldn't so am a bit
