Here we go !

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
divedaisy · 14/04/2009 18:40

I've still a few pages to catch up on - leave that for later. I've had to work in my shop today as the guy phoned in sick... so going homw in a few minutes! But just had to comment on emmasbemmasmom's shower!!! Fantastic!! I'd really love some attention from DH but pregnancy doesn't 'do it' for him - although when it comes to B&J hes fine! Good on you girl!

belgian - my comment is too late for you, but fo rfuture ref have you ever got prescription glasses that get darker int he sun? I have them and whilst they generally don't work in the car when driving (because most cars have a filter in the glass), i find the way round the problem is to drive with the drivers window open a bit so your glasses can react with the sunlight! My prescription glasses cost me around £400 including slim lenses (I too am blind as the bat), varifocals (OMG Old lady specks!), prism and reactive lenses!!!!

OK shutting up shop now! See yo all later.

Oh and any more cramps llareggub??

llareggub · 14/04/2009 18:45

divedaisy funnily enough, we've just come back from our evening walk early because of my cramps. I have my feet up now waiting for more!

Jael there is a section on mumsnet for post-natal clubs so I guess we graduate there if we want. I'll need somewhere to go late at night when baby won't sleep, so I'm in!

belgian Angharad is a Welsh name, so I'm not really surprised you haven't come across it.

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 18:54

Jael I was thinking the same. Once most of us have had our babies, we'll just move on to the post natal club bit. And I'm sure we'll attract a few new members over there too. We wont loose touch if we don't let it happen

divedaisy I know about those glasses that change in the sun, my mum has had them in the past and she actually told me not to get them, because she had them and didn't like them for some reason. My £275 wasn't too bad compared to yours then. My opticians told me my prescription is actually getting a bit better, which is normal when you're getting older as I'm becoming far sighted as well as being near sighted, so I can see those varifocals coming my way soon too. I couldn't believe the getting older comment though, I was only 30 at the time of my exam ! I think one day I'll go for the laser treatment. I think in the long run I'd be saving money, because new glasses always cost me somewhere between £200-300 + the occasional box of daily contacts.

emmabemmasmom · 14/04/2009 19:07

rosie Oh that's right! Ha, pg brain on full time now lol Hope we can arrange something then as I only have 4 weeks to go with any luck

divedaisy lol Yeah well I am sure DH has seen me in better conditions but as far as I am concerned, weather he likes it or not I will get my way! Lucky for me we have been quite creative and there are many ways to 'hide' the bump! And tell me about it! When it is something for him he is all on board too!

Ah well, got a few things ending on Ebay soon...so refreshing like a mad woman hoping to rake in the dough

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 19:21

ds now in bed.. early today as he was worn out from our trip into bristol. we dropped him off at my aunties on the way to the consultant app.. good practice for him as my auntie and uncle are looking after him when b day arrives. they live 5 mins from the hospital and he seems to be really enjoying his visits with them. Phew

the hospital unexpectedly scanned me today because of the transverse/breech position of the baby at my last mw app. I was secretly hoping they would. lots of great news.. baby has turned head down again and has back on my left hand side. big thanks belgian for the spinning babies as it has done the trick. they confirmed we're def having a girl so i won't have to re-list all my girly ebay purchases they also measured her head.. bang on average size. tummy and legs above average size but overall they reckon she's 6lbs 6oz at the mo. we didn't see the consultant.. just a member of his team. they're happy to let me go up to 12 days over and don't want me back to schedule a cs until 40wks+5 if I've not gone into labour before then. they agreed induction is bad idea because of the previous problems with ds. so they're giving me as long as pos to get my vbac as long as I don't get pe again. we're going for a managed 3rd stage and they've marked my notes to monitor me post delivery because of my pph with ds. all in all feeling very well looked after and confident of my care there when the time comes.

Spangle lovely to have you back on and I think you're a star for keeping plodding away with bf harvey. I'm sure he'll start waking for feeds soon. we also tilted ds crib in early wks and it helped him too.

jael I hope they do bring your cs forward and that you don't get any more migraines in the mean time.

off for a cuppa then grabbing the laptop from dh.. so much easier than typing on my phone..

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 19:36

emmab i also run my hard boiled eggs under cold water after boiling and i've never had the green tinge.. i find it also helps the shell come away from the egg without taking most of the egg with it. Glad you got your perfect hard boiled eggs. Re meet ups... where are you? [bad memory emoticon] I think the closest to me is chocolatebunnies in devon?

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 19:39

fi That's such good news about your baby's position and your vbac and everything. I think it sounds like a good plan to leave you that long to try and get going yourself. I will keep everything crossed that you'll go into labour yourself AND that you wont get Pre-e. With a history of PPH an actively managed 3rd stage sounds sensible too. I hope the bum up in the air technique will have worked for me too then. Only 2 more days and I'll know. I do think it's in a better position though, I definitely get more movements on top than below. Actually most low kicks happen when I sit down, especially with a belt on. Looks like this lo likes me standing up and walking around
I've also looked at the bras on offer for bigger cup sizes and it's a bit depressing really, I feel sorry for you fi after seeing the NCT bras on offer. I've been looking on the Hotmilk site to see up to what cup size they go. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that once I've lost the first bits of baby weight and my boobs have settled after those first few months I'll have dropped into their size range, because they go up to an FF.

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 19:39

rosielady i'm the same as you re the birth of this LO. Have no idea what an actual labour is like at all as my induction didn't work in any way! So my hope of a VBAC is an unknown factor too and they're keeping a close eye this time for any pph.

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 19:46

belgian i would love a hot milk bra... but was out of their cup size range even before being pregnant... either time! i'm hoping they'll suddenly expand their available cup sizes in the next month [wishful thinking emoticon]

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 19:55

I just keep thinking it's not fair that now they finally make nice nursing bras (they didn't exist 7 years ago) I have managed to grow to a cup size that doesn't exist in nice nursing bras. Who'd have thought I'd go from a D pre-pregnancy to a G now and whatever it'll go up to once my milk comes in.

emmabemmasmom · 14/04/2009 19:56

Ok now this has gotten silly

For all those who are interested in the egg debate here is a handy video on how to boil an egg...yes that is right...a whole video on boiling an egg.

Oh but did you know?? The dark halo around the yolk is from overcooking and is a sign that the nutrients are leaching out...and you can use the left over water from your eggs to water plants or make iced tea or other drinks with as it contains calcium? Yeah...neither did I

daizydoo · 14/04/2009 19:59

Fi glad you had a good hospital appt. I am very that the dr spoke to you re head measurements. The registrar I saw last week refused to discuss head measurements at my advanced state of pregnancy - despite me having a child with a very large head last time

Belgian - you have to have worked 26 weeks within the last year or so to be entitled to Maternity Allowance. I will have worked 26 weeks by the time I finish at the beginning of May. Unless they take into account the 4 weeks I was on Job Seekers Allowance. I am peed off as I was willing and able to work from August onwards but my CRB check took over 8 weeks to arrive and the job I got offered didn't want me to start for 6 weeks, but hey ho. I am tired, but apart from nights when I am awake for hours at a time, I think I'm coping quite well with work - oh well hey ho!

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 19:59

emmab Thanks for the egg info. See you learn something new every day

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 19:59

I'm getting lots of movement/niggles on the rhs of my bump & also get more when i sit down... unless i'm sitting with the soles of my feet together and knees a kimbo up on the sofa.

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 20:02

daizy Ah, I understand now. The CRB check caused me trouble too. I waited 4 months for mine to come through when I started up as a childminder when my ds was a baby. Because of that I lost the opportunity to advertise and be on the register of the local council in time for the new school year and I'm pretty sure that lost me a lot of customers. That was all at the time the CRB was set up (2002) and there were loads of problems with the system at the time. When I finally got my papers through, they sent it me 4 times too

LoobyLou36 · 14/04/2009 20:03

ses I remember you..

Re: hospital bag. I haven't packed mine yet and I'm going in to be induced in 4 DAYS!!

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 20:05

fi I couldn't sit like that. It would really hurt my spd. But lo seems to prefer me sitting on the ball, I get less kicks low down when I'm on the ball. I suppose it's also because my knees are a bit further apart on the ball.

Belgianchocolates · 14/04/2009 20:07

looby I think it's about time you start packing then!

FiKelly · 14/04/2009 20:13

belgian I know i'm very lucky to not have spd but still find it very tricky at times to get comfy... thank goodness for our big bouncy balls!

I was assuming we'd set up a post natal thread after our ante-natal ones here. I'd miss chatting to you all and sharing the trials/joys of our next lo's

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 20:14

Thanks Looby

I have totally missed that you're being induced in 4 days!!! I'm v excited for you!!! Do you mind me asking why they're inducing you? Hope all goes smoothly for you and - yes - get that bag packed!!!

All this talk of nursing bras, I've bought a couple but I have no idea what size my boobs are going to be - is it all a bit finger in the air stuff at this stage? I swear my boobs are still growing!!

minimenace · 14/04/2009 20:19

Hi All,

I've been lurking for a couple of days catching up on what's happening as not been around for a while. Fab news about Spangle Congratulations to you and your early arrival. Well done with the BF'ing - keep going !!

Sorry if this has been mentioned a while back but not seen it on last couple of threads, I just wondered if anyone has heard anything about their £190 Health in Pregnancy grant yet. obviously it has been a while now since we all applied but I have not had a single letter of response. I understand they are probably busy being it's swo new but you would think a standard letter might be appropriate or have I missed something ?

I went for a 4.5k walk this morning - am hoping to get things moving early if I have a chance to get my VBAC this time. I read with interest the link the Belgian posted on the last thread about the rasberry leaf tea so have started on a small dose today and hoping to increase as EDD approaches.

So excited now to find out the flavour of this ikkle Jelly Bean ... seems to be wriggling around much more than I remembered DS did.

Can't wait to find out who is going to be next so hoping to be around here a bit more now - that is if I can keep up

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 20:22

Hello minimenace
I've just come back today for the first time in ages too. Am hoping being on ML will give me more time to MN!
Re the grant, I did read on another thread somewhere that there is a backlog and payments have been delayed! I only sent mine off 2 weeks ago and was under the impression from that thread that I might not see it appear in my account until the end of June!

LoobyLou36 · 14/04/2009 20:25

ses I'm being induced at 37+6 because of gestational diabetes/large baby. Had a growth scan 12 days ago and they said baby was 7lb 4 - ouch! Really hope they were wrong about that.

CoteDAzur · 14/04/2009 20:28

runningmonkey - Thank you for that link. I started doing those carpal tunnel exercises. Hopefully they will help a bit, as it's been getting worse every morning.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 14/04/2009 20:30

Ahh, thanks Looby
I have a friend who had a CS a few weeks ago as they were concerned the baby was over 10lbs. He was 9lb 4oz in the end and all is fine.
No one's given me any idea of the size of my lo yet. I'm at the ante-natal clinic next Tues though for my routine thyroid monitoring so I'm sure they'll say if they think it's one end of the spectrum.
I'm still v excited for you!
