OK Live labour thread (or it might turn into one)

Actually posting from loo. Waters went most dramatically at 2am as Boff progeny no 4 nutted his poor mother in the fanjo with a determined exit strategy. Fluid everywhere, right mess, bit worried as I realised yesterday we only possess one change of sheets for this new kingsize bed. DH not allowed to help me much as he is still in the food poisoning exclusion zone.

BabyBolat · 05/04/2009 02:44

Ooh boff I'm here - how you feeling are you having contractions? Have u phoned ur mw?

BabyBolat · 05/04/2009 02:56

Quick post to say huge congrats to bleu and little megan and thanks for all the lovely messages. I do love you lot!!!

Yay for shows and developments boo for bad dhs and hormonal moods!!

Birth story is too long to post from iPhone but will write my epic tom when I get home in short was in labour for 24 hours until they realised there was a pretty big problem - got it fixed and then had my little man in 4 hours!! He is so iccle and cute and I want to eat him up! Am posting from hospital refusing to sleep so I can stare at him! I did find the whole process bar the pushing pretty boring but then I'm never good at waiting!!

Right posting now to return to boffs birth!!

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 04:16

OK, progress report. Cleared up a bit (like Niagara round here frankly, how BB managed to carry on with bathroom project if she was leaking like this is totally beyond me). Then phoned mw who said to get some rest. So cleared up a bit more and was a very good girl and went back to bed with Pampers bed mats everywhere as well as towelling nappies strategically placed. Contractions started just before 4am every 6 minutes or so but not painful due to Hypnobirthing breathing most probably. SLight lull in proceedings, hence post.

BB what was big problem? I am dying to know now, you tease. Hope it was not too scary.

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 04:20

Kitty, TENS pads go roughly bottom of bra, top of big pants, either side of spine, but mw can probably advise. Pulse width 150, pulse rate 20, mode M (mode B during contractions).

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 05:00

NHS people wake up soon!!! What is the minimum amount of time to quarantine DH for food poisoning that started an hour or two after eating and was probably due to a dodgy prawn in the fajitas?

BabyBolat · 05/04/2009 06:55

Boff I think dh is fine food poisoning is
out of your system in a couple of days - do u want me to ask the staff,

My waters never exploded just constantly leaked-the last of whilch came out in labour yesterday!

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 06:59

Yes, please ask staff. He only got it 9pm-ish yesterday and threw up a single prawn with some bile (sorry if TMI). I don't know how near to let him be.

Contractions have gone now, and I slept for a bit. This might take forever.

conkertree · 05/04/2009 07:04

catching up a little but going backwards from last thread so will read this one in a min.

gingersarah - i love thbe picture of you sitting playing your ukelele - very Marilyn Monroe in\some like it hot- sure your lo loves it. sorry you are feelingfrustrated though.

nutty - yay for plug - lets hope you dont have to wait to the end of the month.

yay - congratulations bb - look forward to hearing the rest of the story.

lol at your dd and the 'nappies' mathshoney.

conkertree · 05/04/2009 07:12

ooh boff - waters going - thats great - cant be that far away now. good luck.

hi bb - hope you managed to get a little sleep even with gazing at your lo .

BabyBolat · 05/04/2009 07:30

Boff just spoke to me here who said it depends on stages and severity but ideally dh should keep away from the newborn. She did say to ask you mw to assess and advise when she getstherex

frekkles · 05/04/2009 07:36

ooh hello BB! Can't believe you're in hospital postnantal! How are you? What's it like being a mum and all? much love to you (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((bb))))))))))))))))))))))))) and a big smile and a welcome to the outside to your new relation xx

go boff! how exciting! good luck my dear!

i finally have a nursery ready and a hopsital bag packed!

Schulte · 05/04/2009 07:38

Morning all! Boff, how's it going? You doing lengths in the birthing pool? Food poisoning isn't contagious as far as I know so unless you're worried about DH being sick all over you I can't see why he shouldn't be around. Hope he's feeling better now anyway!

Ginger, if you've had CP you'll be fine around your friends, but I wouldn't take a baby to meet children who might be contagious.

BB can't wait to hear the full birth story! Yes WHAT big problem??? And do try to sleep a bit, you have years of gazing at DS ahead of you

conkertree · 05/04/2009 07:38

well done frekkles - i've just about packed mine but had a few more painful bh last night so am thinking its time to be properly ready now - even if it is another three weeks to go.

Schulte · 05/04/2009 07:41

My hospital bag has been packed for so long now that it's got a layer of dust on top!

frekkles · 05/04/2009 07:49

well i say packed...... all things that need to go in it are bought and are in the house, apart from tens machine and nightie. tens ordered and nightie is tommorow's job!

conker, you're due the same day as me! hey hey! how you feeling?

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 07:50

Funnily enough I felt the urge to repack my bag yesterday.

Contractions have completely stopped so I have tried a new method of induction - painting my toe nails red. Bump is so low and SPD so diminished I could reach them pretty well. Doesn't seem to have worked as a strategy yet.

Have found a great t-shirt of DH's to wear in labour. Switzerland is in the middle and there are loads of little sperm swimming towards it and it says 'Everybody loves Switzerland'. Very appropriate, I thought.

BabyBolat · 05/04/2009 07:55

Think it sounds ok and fairly mild but your mw needs to see him or a dr to give final yay or nay! Think being near you throughout the birth should be fine just not sure near a new baby

Morning conker did sleep for a few hours but was so warm / noisy on the ward - feel fine though - give me a couple of days!

conkertree · 05/04/2009 07:57

lol boff - giving birth with sperm on your top - how appropriate.

frekkles - feeling fine thanks - trying not to get excited by every twinge etc cause i did last time round and went 6 days over and nearly drove myself mad. its not exactly working as i still have a large amount of hope that it will come earlier, but trying very hard not to obsess. how about you? you seem quite relaxed about the whole thing?

tens machine arrived this week so anything else in my labour bag is a bonus. stirling provide most things for you, eg maternity pads etc.

BarbarellaNz · 05/04/2009 07:58
