what an exciting day on here! Anymore news on Mrsfossil? And brill Boff...things seem to be moving in a positive way

I have been out for the first time in ages! Went to a big outdoor play area, had a picnic and a walk and then a drink in the pub. Was lovely.

Was awake until 2 am with 10 minute contractions that had me climbing the walls and watery discharge although I don't think it was my actual waters. Fell asleep shortly after 2 am and was disappointed to wake up at 7 am with all pain gone! While I've been out today I've had to hold onto DH's arm a few times with really painful 'cervix stabbing'. Oh well, one day it will be for real!!

bronze · 05/04/2009 16:35

pants.

the crappy fire my neighbours are having is infilitrating my house even with all the windows shut (the smoke that is). Its making me cough more and now I have a headache from coughing as well as sore ribs and fanjo etc.
At least the smokes white now

bronze · 05/04/2009 17:31

bloody hell something just went bang very loudly. Anything like that again and I will call the firebrigade

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 17:42

Still here.
No movement despite a little SPD-friendly Wii Fit.
DH now on Wii Fit mastering the ski jump.
We are not used to hanging out like this any more and we are starting to miss the kids a bit (but not enough to get them back!). It is too quiet around here.
DH has tried one of the hypnobirthing scripts to no avail so far. Where is MM and her magical cervix dust when you need her?

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 17:47

Nutty next meds due at 6 not 7 unless you've changed the schedule. With cold pack I think.

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 17:54

A solitary contraction has occured, of sufficient magnitude to require some minor toe wiggling.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 05/04/2009 17:55

Hi Boeuff! Good luck dearest lady - you sound like you're well on your way... perhaps a round of Wii Olympics will get little Felix jumping??

We've just got back from tea with another preggie couple - they're booked in for a CS on Thurs (breech with legs in opposite directions - very tricky) and I'm insanely jealous in a way... she knows that by 10am on Thurs morning she'll be a Mummy - and I want that!!! The waiting is a killer!!!

Ah well, at least I'm having a fab HB...

Go Boff! Go MrsFossil!

BoeuffinMum · 05/04/2009 18:00

And another one. No toe wiggling this time though. Filling pool just to be on the safe side.

conkertree · 05/04/2009 18:21

i love the contraction by contraction commentary . what would we do without mn?

surprise - sounds like a few promising signs for you too even if they've calmed down a bit now. might not be too long to wait.

surprisenumber3 · 05/04/2009 18:25

exciting stuff Boff, get that pool filled!

Hope not too long conker, but have still got 12 days til due date. Was just talking to DH when I threw up everywhere ...don't know what that's all about!!

bronze · 05/04/2009 18:50

Bets on Boff mum having popped by the end of today

gingersarah · 05/04/2009 18:53

go, boffin, go! go! go!

how long have you arranged for the existing sprogs to be out for?

I had a long chat with my sister this afternoon during which she impressed on me the importance of having a baby before the end of the easter holidays (she works term time only). so no pressure. I was feeling quite que sera sera before that!

Bleuravin · 05/04/2009 19:10

hope all goes well with the birth...

meggy and i (me more so)are having a bit of tough time...my milk's coming in already..mw who came t visit was shocked. meggy wants to be on breast all the time and nipples are horribly raw and damaaged because meg such a good sucker her future dp will like i'm sure but mommy not so much...

WhatFreshEggIsThis · 05/04/2009 19:18

Hi Bleu

sorry you're having a tough time with the feeding, that is quick for your milk to come in!

Has the midwife checked you're getting a good latch? And Lansinoh is the best stuff for sore nipples, accept no substitutes. It's the only one you can leave on your nipples before you bf, as well, you don't need to wipe it off.

Hope it settles down for you

xx

Bleuravin · 05/04/2009 19:32

thanks wfe aka wfh...latch seems alright mw said...though meg moves around a lot when feeding ...bobs head in and out so the latch goes...she stubborn too; hates to be manipulated and puts up a fight like no baby i've ever known...but dh and i are stubborn so should have known...

SpringySponge · 05/04/2009 19:40

Bleu, if it doesn't get easier try contacting the NCT or going to a BF cafe or something - MWs aren't always the best people to advise on latches & you don't want to be sore for weeks if you don't have to be!

How are things going Chez Boff?

NuttyBlowUpEasterBunny · 05/04/2009 19:53

Boff - changed schedule a bit as took first ones at 11 then 3, just got up (again) 7.20 so just taken another lot, morphine at 8.

ooohhh yay for toe curling contractions!!! and pool filling xx Come on Baby Boff!! we want to meet you!!

oohhhh Kitty - i'm a bit and i dont know her!!

Suprise - being sick is another good sign, just not very pleasant xx

Bleu - have you got any cream or nipple shields that you can pop on when meg has a rest to try and counter the soreness a bit xx

OP posts:
Schulte · 05/04/2009 20:09

Bleu, sorry to hear about sore nipples. I had those for the first few weeks with DD, it's not nice. Here is what worked for me, maybe it helps:

  • Used nipple shields for every feed while they were in a really bad state
  • Rubbed breastmilk into the nipples after each feed
  • Let boobs hang out and air a lot (which freaked DH out no end)
  • Used washable, non plastic backed breast pads - the plastic backed ones are really bad for sore nipples
  • Used Lansinoh in between feeds

And then obviously, make 100% sure the latch is correct and if it hurts even the slightest bit, take her off and try again. With DD it helped just moving her a little bit further towards my arm - she was pulling on the nipples a bit. The health visitor spotted it so do get people to watch when you feed.

I have no doubt I'll struggle with sore nipples again this time round so I have the nipple shields at the ready!

How is little Megan otherwise - does she let you get some sleep?

Boff, hope things kick off properly for you soon, I am sure the waiting is boring and frustrating.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/04/2009 20:13

finally able to pop back on (DH has gone up to bed with DS after this horrendous weekend!)

congrats to BB!!!

bleu - it's hard when the baby moves around a lot. you get a good latch then...oops! not so much!

keep taking her off if it's not right (use little finger to break the suction). DON'T just struggle through. it'll make it worse. i always find with any mums i've supported that they are holding the baby too far over IYSWIM. her nose should be in line with your nipple so that she lifts her head to latch on.

LOL @ boff doing wii sports! (have you mastered the art of chair bowling? i am particularily good at chair golf as well)

right girls. i have been feeling achy all day. not pain really, just annoying. in my back and bump, which has been getting really tight. and my belly button hurts. it's really sore . probably just becuase it's going inside out i guess.
after the shit weekend we've had (and because we still have a LOT to do) i'm really not ready for this baby yet! ("ha ha", you are all saying, "she has a couple of twinges and she thinks the birth is imminent. we've been going through that for weeks!")

we really do need an emoticon for blwoing raspberries!!
