Fab baby pix, WFH. Have cheered me up no end.

WFH - oooohhhh how gorgeous!! what a cutie!!

ooh, hadn't realised there were so many of us planning a homebirth! OK, not millions, but nice to see there are a few!

still no sign of anything happening! And it's such a beautiful summer like day - warm, sunny and absolutely lovely alllll day! Would be perfect to have a baby today - and not feel like it's the middle of winter (which it did last week!). Been washing & hanging out clothes on the line and cleaning, dusting, hoovering the downstairs. Seems the nice weather gives one energy for cleaning house! But I'm a bit zapped of energy now...and don't feel like cooking dinner. However, my 2 toddlers (and possibly husband too! ) will be wanting some food, so better go get on with it!

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 17:38

Just marking for later - we're buying walls...

WFH he is adorable!!!

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 17:42

Ooh, WFH he's gorgeous.

Just got in to find an answerphone message from MW saying that I not only have staphylococcus but also gardnerella, so she's sending me a prescription and "if we treat it before the birth, things will be fine."
Have gone into panic mode now!

Internet searchs reveal contradictory things about risks during PG/childbirth. Typical and not v reassuring.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 17:49

BB - BACK AWAY FROM THE DIY, YOU LOON!!!

Boffin - well done for the walks and good luck with your dh WRT the AP xx

Rachel - yay for the spring cleaning

Auld - big ((hugs)) xx

OP posts:
Schulte · 02/04/2009 17:50

Auld - what on earth are staphylococcus and gardnerella? I am sure here they don't even test for these things?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 17:56

Schulte - Gardnerella

OP posts:
AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 17:58

Schulte, staphylococcus is a bacteria, which causes things like food poisoning and takes various forms. MRSA is one evil form...

Garnerella is a bacteria that is present in the vagina, and causes infection and problems if there is an imbalance (notably during PG or if the woman is tired).

In France they do a swab at your MW appt one month before the due date, and run a whole battery of checks. This is what mine turned up.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 17:58

Staphylococcus possibly a version of TSS toxic shock syndrome

OP posts:
AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 18:00

I have absolutely no symptoms, BTW (the sites I've checked all say gardnerella is associated with a smell of rotten fish: I have not been wandering around for weeks stinking of putrid fish).

Schulte · 02/04/2009 18:01

Gosh how come they don't test for that stuff here?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 18:04

Auld - that would only be if its really bad though i would guess, and not noticeable if you haven't been getting discharge etc, the swabs get taken quite high up too

OP posts:
AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 18:09

You must be right, Nutty.
Don't know why they don't test in the UK for these things: maybe because most people get symptoms and consult? France is very keen on blanket tests.
I wish I'd been in when the MW called, as I have no idea of the risks and have read some scary stuff online. On top of everything else I've been stressing about over the last few weeks, I'm not feeling confident enough to deal with anything more...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 18:16

Auld - it does say that metronidazole would clear it up and my doctor was going to give it to me for something or other so should be safe in pregnancy though not sure, do feel free to check xx

OP posts:
SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 18:18

thats for the gardenella and the other looks like its just penecillin to clear it up, so you should be ok, try not to worry

OP posts:
SpringySponge · 02/04/2009 18:20

Have read; will catch up in a bit.

Just wanted to say that baby WFH is gorgeous. I'm now pointedly sighing at my bump, but he's being a typical boy & not getting the hint. I particularly like the third picture - a classic case of grumpy old man

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 18:22

The pessaries the MW has given me are called Colposeptine, which is Chlorquinaldol and oestrogen as far as I can tell. That's for the staph. aureus.
She said she's sending me a prescription for sachets for both me and DH for the gardnerella, and I don't know what's in them. The prescription probably won't get here tomorrow, and I don't want to spend days fretting about what germs are attacking my fanjo.
I'll try and call her tomorrow, but she's very hard to get hold of.

BoffinMum · 02/04/2009 18:26

Auld, it sounds like one of those things where a little knowledge is almost a dangerous thing to me. If you had been over here there you never would have known and probably been fine. As it happens some simple antibiotics are likely to do the job anyway, and the mw sounds quite reassuring. And you need never smell of fish again.

mathsmummy27 · 02/04/2009 18:27

Auld I don;t know how you cope with all this in another language! No medical expertise to offer, but a cup of (RL) tea instead.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 02/04/2009 18:28

AH WFH what a gorgeous boy!!! He's perfect... well done to you both!

BoffinMum · 02/04/2009 18:30

I often wonder that about Auld. It always feels brave enough getting my car fixed in German. I can't imagine giving birth and dealing with all this stuff in another language as well.

I am not competing on the other thread as I am still too frazzled after the day's traumas. So you'll have to poke each others' eyes out without me for once.

Nutty, how are you doing back and SPD wise at the moment? Has the rest helped at all?

mathsmummy27 · 02/04/2009 18:30

oi Kitty share that smoothie...

BoffinMum · 02/04/2009 18:31

Pineapple and semen smoothie???

mathsmummy27 · 02/04/2009 18:40

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm like a twister
