Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Belgianchocolates · 05/04/2009 22:27

Detsy I still don't get why you'd need to be monitored if you go into labour naturally, because you're not high risk as such, it's only when you go past your date that you're going to be high risk IYKWIM. I looked up the reasons behind your induction and there was the increased risk of unexplained still birth going up after the age of 40, but I must say that as a mum I would not like to be induced just because of my age either, especially if I've had normal and easy pregnancies. I must say I have met women who's 2nd or 3rd baby it was and who were induced for being 40+, so they don't take that into account.

Belgianchocolates · 05/04/2009 22:29

I've got a 15% braincell loss too and I can tell.

Detsy I like the first one of your links. That one doesn't look too uncomfortable. I've got a real life corset tight lacing corset that I had to fit into a ball gown. Maybe that'll do? I don't think the tiny detail that my waist was several inches smaller back when I bought it will be a problem [bmm]

Blottedcopybook · 05/04/2009 22:31

Am ok, have horrendous pain up my rhs and back, not contractions though. Going to bed, seeing mw in morn. scuse typing am lying on my side using laptop with one hand xx

Belgianchocolates · 05/04/2009 22:37

Blotted have some paracetamol and phone the hospital if it's getting worse. It could be a UTI. Hope you feel better soon

Belgianchocolates · 05/04/2009 22:40

OK bed now too. I think I'm the only one still left on here and following Detsy and Frazz's example of talking to myself while DH is watching TV, I tried to talk to him, but he's just going 'shh'. So bed is the better option I think.

Ooh Detsy I just remembered. We've just moved my stuff into our sliding wardrobes. DH put big long poles from wall to wall. I've never had so much hanging space and he's going to get some good quality boards and make shelves above and below the pole. It's so nice to have my clothes in my room again rather than ds's room.

LoobyLou36 · 06/04/2009 07:28

Morning all.

At work - 4 days and counting....

Started taking Raspberry leaf capsules 3 days ago and have noticed more BH. I take it this is normal?

Momino · 06/04/2009 07:34

morning all.
blotted, how are you today? hope your MW appt goes well, do keep us updated and continue to rest.

DH inflated the exercise ball to sit on as I can't find a comfortable chair/sofa. Does anyone use these? should he inflate to ultra firmness or should there be a bit of 'give'? anyway, i do feel silly sitting on it but the DDs will love it! lucky for us the dog is at in laws but when he comes back next week, he's going to go crazy and puncture it I'm sure (he's ruined 3 pink plastic balls of dd1's already).

DDs still asleep! are they still on pre-time change?

Momino · 06/04/2009 07:43

Hi looby, H&Barratt didn't have capsules when I went to buy rasp tea yesterday so bought the actual tea. I've only had one mugful so will let you know after a couple of days if i notice anything different.

flippineck · 06/04/2009 08:22

Morning!

blotted - hope you are feeling ok and that your appt today goes ok

momino - I use a ball too, it's so much more comfortable than anything else for sitting on. Mine isn't rock hard, there's a bit of give. No idea if that's right, but it's comfortable. DD loves playing with it too!

Well, my first proper week off work is off to a great start . DD was up for two hours in the night and wouldn't settle with DH, I had to cuddle her until she went back to sleep. I managed to get back to sleep, but then woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep again, grrr. As you can imagine, we're both feeling fab today, she's alsready asked to go to the childminder's house twice, and to go to work with Daddy.

Jennster · 06/04/2009 09:03

morning all

Blotted good luck today. Hope you feel more comfortable soon.

Louby, it might be the raspberry leaf making your bh more noticable. They don't stimulate the uterus to contract, just make contractions, when you have them, more efficient so I don't see why that wouldn't work with bh. Started mine yesterday, and noticed on the pack it said not to be taken before 30 weeks.

Had a horrid night. Woke up and couldn't get back to sleep so listened to my hypnotherapy on my ipod. I couldn't breathe properly because I'm all bunged up with the start of a cold and my snot is all bloody. I could hear dh snoring through it and nearly moved to the spare room, but the front of my pelvis is suddenly very tender and sore. I am going to have to stop picking up the dc.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/04/2009 09:04

Morning all

Blotted hope you're ok today, take it easy (if you can!)

Momino I want a ball to bounce on, but haven't dared, as the dog would, like yours, puncture it. We have to hide balls, balloons and round objects from her, as she goes bananas, whining and barking and trying to attack them. I can just imagine her at the sight of me bouncing on a giant ball

Detsy Tell that Reistrar to to sod off!

Exhausted after yesterday - DD2 partying and DD1 catching me at a weak moment and asking to have friends over for sleepover. I want to say 'NEVER AGAIN' this morning - 10 year old giggling very loudly at midnight grrr, but I've already said she can have a sleepover for her birthday in 2 weeks

Can't believe I'm going to have an 11 year old and a newborn. Just as LO reaches terrible 2's, DD1 will be hitting teenagery puberty.

Oh and weight gain? I'm trying not to worry, as I've always lost the weight fairly quickly. Unfortunately, I've never regained my shape, just ended up with more muffin-top.

Frazz I like Felix.......go for it. And I have a step-sister and a step-brother, my SB is 9 years younger than me and a RADA-trained actor dahhhhling, my SS is 17 years younger than me and 'troubled'. We are all the product of my wayward and useless but lovely father and see each other every few years or so when we remember . Oh and we all (my DB included) look really bizarrely alike. Can I join the weird family club too?

EmmalinaC · 06/04/2009 09:18

Hello everyone

blotted hope you're feeling a bit better today?

Detsy thanks for spangle update. Hope little Spanglet is thriving and she gets to come home soon. Must be such a relief being moved into a private room - I was on a busy ward for over a week after DD was born and it was hellish.

Jennster sounds like I have a similar night to you. DH went out for beer & curry with my bro then came home and snored like a trooper. I was horribly uncomfortable and also all bunged up in a pre-could kind of way but I couldn't even move into spare room because blinkin' bro was in it!

DH was on a DIY mission all weekend. He is working so hard which is great but it does mean I have to do everything else (look after DD, cooking, washing, etc etc) so by last night I was even more exhausted than usual. I have just dropped DD off at nursery and am looking forward to a very, VERY lazy day! See you later!

LoobyLou36 · 06/04/2009 09:28

I've been sitting on a ball to watch tv too. Find it quite comfortable prob looks really silly

emmabemmasmom · 06/04/2009 10:07

Morning ladies!

Whew busy on here last night!

Thanks for the Spanglet news. Great to hear they are doing well and should be home soon.

Any news with Blotted?? Thought about her all day wondering if she was keeping ok...I hope so!

Re weight gain: I have no idea how much I gained with DD#1 but it did take me 9 months to get back into pre-preg clothes but that was comfortably...and then I got pregnant again so they all went back into storage 2 weeks after I get them all down lol Now however I have only gained 15 lbs. I would love if it all dripped off after but we shall see. If I get to BF this time maybe that will help...

Re sex: I guess I am also a weird one for wanting it all the time! My DH has taken the women side of things and uses the 'I'm tired', 'not now' and 'I have a headache' lines on me now! I always win though..haha!

Thats about all I can remember from reading back! Hope everyone is having a good start to their week. My DH is home today for the first day in 2 weeks straight so not sure what we are going to do with ourselves today! Days off go so fast though

frazzledoldbag · 06/04/2009 10:19

Morning all.
blotted fingers crossed all well with you?
DC's and DH both driving me up the wall this morning. DC's squabbled endlessly and DH announced he's off today (it's a bank holiday of course, he said) - I asked him on Friday if he had any days off this week and he said no, he was far too busy at work to take time off...........eh? [confused emoticon]. So because I thought he was at work I've put DD1 into tennis coaching this morn and invited her friend over to play this afternoon. If I'd known he was off we could have had a nice day out [grrrrrrrr]. Men are so stupid and thoughtless.
Then I said oh well we can maybe sort out the babys room and get a bit organised then? He looked horrified and has now gone off to the gym and to buy gardening equipment and apparently is spending today in the garden. [even more baffled emoticon]
I should be working today but after yesterday I'm soooo knackered I can't face it. Cleaning and tidying the house and making a start on the babys room might be all I'm good for.
God what a moany minnie I am today. Tired and irritable isn't a good way to be is it? Bum.
grumpy of course you can join our 'weird family club'. Welcome to the weirdos!
Sorry to hear everyone seems to have had a bad nights sleep - I always sleep much better on the nights I have a bath before I go to bed. Don't know if that would help anyone? (obviously not those woken up by DC's, nothing a bath can do about that).
Right am wittering so will shut up.
Later x

frazzledoldbag · 06/04/2009 10:22

Oh grumpy one of my step-siblings is also 'on the stage' and very 'daaaaahhhling' too. Also very highly strung though unfortunately so there is usually a screaming row at some point in the proceedings when she's around. At least it's never dull.............stressful maybe but not dull!

frazzledoldbag · 06/04/2009 10:25

oh and anyone else hate all their clothes? My tops are all suddenly too short and my trousers all fall down. A gap of white tummy with stretch marks is Not a good look. [moan, moan, moan, whinge goes frazz]. Off to change before I irritate myself (and you lot) any further.

Wonder how spangle is today? Can't believe we're almost half way through her honourary (sp) thread and she's not even been on it yet.

llareggub · 06/04/2009 10:32

God yes, I am so fed-up of my clothes. Ironically, my non maternity tops are long enough to cover my bump whereas my maternity tops don't. I don't understand! My maternity trousers are definitely looking wash worn and I can't bring myself to buy new ones now with so little time left. I feel too scruffy to leave the house, really!

I slept really badly last night but luckily DH is around this morning so I had a nice lie in, bliss.

My mother is coming to stay on Wednesday until Friday. It is likely to be a challenging time for me and I will need to come here for rants and hand holding, please!

frazzledoldbag · 06/04/2009 10:37

llare rant away [takes hand and makes cup of tea]
Nothing like a good rant to make you feel better

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/04/2009 10:50

lareggub

I am already making (sugar-free?) cakes and preparing the teapot. We shall be here to make soothing noises and listen to your rants. Now, cammomile is good for soothing? I'll make some Redbush too, that works for me.

Mothers - can we make a pact to never turn into ours?

Frazz Thanks for letting me join the club. I went to drama school too BTW and my 'troubled' Stepsister is auditioning this year as well. We're all just so dramatic.

OP posts:
Belgianchocolates · 06/04/2009 10:59

Morning ladies,

First of all my thoughts are with blotted. I hope she's OK and that her mw's appt goes well.

Our house is a bit chaotic today. The plasterer is here (a friend of dh's) and so all the furniture is in the middle of the living room, so the only chair left for me to sit on is the computer chair. So I thought I could just as well log on to here . DH asked me to cancel the cleaners this am as he didn't know they would come and with the plasterer here and stuff. Anyway I threw a little paddy, because they're not coming next week because of easter and I need them to come today, plasterer or not. The can still clean the bathroom and upstairs, which hadn't been done last week due to the decorator being there. My dd managed to knock over a display cabinet which was in the middle of the room and break some nice glasses. I don't really mind too much, they apparently were a wedding present to dh and his 1st wife and weren't my taste anyway.

We all had a nice sleep today. I only woke up once to wee . Even the cat didn't come and wake us up until 7.30. That's a lie in nowadays!

I've got my bouncy ball too. I've had it since 16 weeks or so and have been doing my ironing while sitting on it. Yes, I'm weird. I like it blown up quite firmly, only because that way I sit a bit higher up. Even with it being quite firm, it still bounces. I get relief in my back and pelvis if I sit and rotate my hips on it.

I'm joining the fed up with my clothes club too. A lot of my things are too wintery too. I had jumper dresses which were lovely this winter, stretchy and warm, but now I want cool stuff. I wanted a skirt yesterday, but the only one I have was in the wash as I had already worn it nearly a whole week non-stop, so I ended up in jeans again. I think I'm left with 1 pair of comfy jeans and 1 comfy skirt and loads of still nice and comfy tops. I need another bottom half really, but at nearly 36 weeks, it's just not worth it.

Belgianchocolates · 06/04/2009 11:02

BTW dh didn't organise that plasterer til yesterday, so why would I have to cancel my help at the last minute, because he arranges something last minute too.

chocolatebunnies · 06/04/2009 11:05

Hi Girls,

What a busy old weekend on here!

Hope Blotted is ok.

llare & fraz Im fed up of my clothes too, have been washing baby clothes this weekend and somehow managed to wash a bag of pre-pregnancy clothes, just sat looking at them feeling really shit, it took me ages to get down to a size 10, two years in fact, so god knows when they'll fit again! Dam pregnancy!

Im having a small wedding crisis if anyone can help, Id be v.v.v.v.v. grateful, so we've got 4 weeks to go, and I don't know what Im going to wear on my feet! Heels are obviously a no-no, but in 4 weeks time, i'll be 37 weeks so will probably have chunky monkey ankles & feet so dont know what to do, most of you have seen my dress so if anyone has any ideas, link away!

Im stuggling to sleep now too, wishing bump would drop, have got a constant achey/pain under the right hand side of my ribs where babies bum is stuck so its awkward to get comfy.

Weight gain is a bit of a sore subject for me, I've put on about 2 stone so far, it seems to related to my obsession with food and chocolate! My appetite doesnt seem to have slowed down at all, in fact, its getting worse everyday! Ah well!

Blottedcopybook · 06/04/2009 11:27

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, I'm ok today just still having the backache. MW called earlier to rearrange my appointment to 1.15pm and said she thinks I might have a UTI. Didn't sleep fantastically and DD wasn't allowed to go to nursery today so we're having a quiet morning until we go to the MW.

Choc I wore a pair of flat rocketdog ballet pumps (silver!) under my wedding dress

frazzledoldbag · 06/04/2009 11:39

choc I was also going to suggest ballet pumps! (read an article by Gok Wan yesterday in Heat mag and he says that evening dresses (or I guess wedding dresses) with pretty ballet pumps is one of his fave looks. And comfy too...........
blotted glad you're ok. Good luck later x
