Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh LadyL, a girl! How lovely. I also have oodles of girls names, and just 1 boy option.
I had my next midwife appointment earlier. All well, babe happy, uterus fine, blah blah blah. Next appointment at 28 weeks, after scan a week on monday. Have definitely opted out of the prophylactic (?) anti-d.

mummyhill · 29/04/2005 08:53

You and me both pooka I have a list of about 32 girls names that i love and only one boys name. Will have to wait and see which we have before we start panicing about names.

Kiwifruit · 29/04/2005 10:11

Me three! Loads of girls names we like, but only one boys name. Guess it will make it easier if it's a boy! Although I have a suspiscion that it might be a girl...

SandyR · 29/04/2005 12:21

thats very wierd, I only have one boys name and a few girls names too. (the boys name is my dads name in memory of him). I've been told by lots of people that mine is probably a boy as everything is sticking out at the front rather than around the sides - anyone heard this or is it an old wives tale? although one of my friends said she thinks its a girl because i've been craving chocolate (not quite worked that one out yet!).

Boompi · 29/04/2005 12:23

I find boys names easier as both DH and I can agree. He doesnt really like any of my fav girls names! DH like really traditional girls names and, although I dont want something outrageous, Id like it to be pretty and unusual!

zubb · 29/04/2005 12:56

I'm with Boompi - I find boys names much easier than girls, although I find all names difficult as I don't have any favourites. We had the same girls name on standby for ds1 and 2, but had changed the first name for this one. Have agreed on a boys name and call the baby it already. We did this with the other 2 as well, as soon as we knew the sex they were 'named', Ds1 already talks about 'baby xxx'.

Piccalilli · 29/04/2005 13:20

We've got a name for a boy, but dh doesn't like any of the names I've come up with for a girl. Only another three and a half weeks til we find out hopefully (not having my 20 wk scan til 23 weeks).

hjc31 · 29/04/2005 13:26

Hi - I was wondering if anyone could recommend an ante natal class in the N1/N16/N8/N10 areas of London, with spaces available for someone due on 20 September....I seem to have left it a bit late and have had 3 "sorrys" already this morning. Thanks so much in advance. x

Kiwifruit · 29/04/2005 14:05

Hi HJC31
You could try Central London NCT - I just looked on their website and they have availability on a course for people due in September. Course is in W2, but might be worth considering if you can't get anything in your area?
Their website is www.birthed.net

Good Luck!

andif · 29/04/2005 14:08

I'm finally back!!
Computer gone for 2.5 weeks - nearly drove me mad, esp with dh away this week. Borrowed his laptop to leave message last weekend, but got wrong thread, nevermind.
20 weeks now, still 10 days to next scan. Hopefully will find out sex - so many people have said they think it's a girl that I'm almost convinced myself! I'm beginning to wonder if it's just code for 'You've put on a lot of weight" !! One stone so far, but it's the first pg that I've weighed myself, so no real idea if that's good or not! V. bad back at the moment is getting me down - I'm not very good at sitting around resting, although now MN is back..,....

franch · 29/04/2005 14:27

hjc31 - CAT me - I can recommend an excellent antenatal teacher who covers N1 - she's ex-NCT, basically covers the same stuff and is brilliant.

SandyR, I've stuck out at the front and not at the sides in both pregnancies (you can't actually tell I'm pg from behind - or from the front if I'm wearing black!) and both have been girls - I think these old wives' tales are a load of nonsense!

All's well here - still tired as hell but getting out every day and keeping busy so not moping like I was last week. Also getting very excited about the prospect of having 2 girls. DH got the baby names book out last night - we picked a name ages ago but now that we know it's a girl are going through the book to see if there's anything we've missed - picked out quite a few that we liked so looks like we will have some thinking to do after all ..... This is definitely the fun part of pregnancy

franch · 29/04/2005 14:47

Just another plug for the London meet-up - fabulously organised by Kiwifruit - I've just booked my place - come and join us

Kiwifruit · 29/04/2005 15:50

2 spaces left ladies - make sure you get those tootsies in tip top condition for sandal season... If the last 2 places have gone, book for the appointment after the 2pm pedicures...

Have just started to discover the joys of heart burn over the last couple of days. Off to Boots on the way home so I can discover the joys of Gaviscon... With a bit of luck, the heart burn may help discourage my excessive food consumption... Did someone say that you can get Gaviscon on prescription? Do you need to go and see the doctor, or should I be able to just ring up and ask for it? Still haven't quite worked out how all these things work.

Roll on 6pm - can hardly wait to get out of here and start the lovely long weekend. Going to Yorkshire, so will be nice to get out of London for a few days and see a different part of the countryside!

Katts · 29/04/2005 17:00

Oooo...I would love to go but unfortunately I'm away that weekend.

I had an appointment with GP today and discovered I have gained 10 kilos. Hmmm...I guess that's quite a bit eh? She also measured my fundal height at 23 cm which I think is quite large for 19 weeks. But I did have to pee really bad. Don't know if that effects it or not?

The best part though is that I got to have a good long proper listen to the babies heartbeat. She even let me record it on my mobile phone which I promptly texted to DP and have now emailed it back to my family in America. Don't know if anyone else will be as impressed as I am, but there you go!

Kiwicath · 29/04/2005 17:41

Phew! You ladies can chat, just caught up. Went up to Cairo for 20 week scan on
Wednesday. All well and as predicted at 12 week scan, it's another little bloke. The 3D/4D scan was fab and got the stills and moving pictures put on disk so hubby could see when I got home. Cairo a nightmare as Pres. Pooton was in town and traffic was horrendous. Spent 2 hours in a taxi (windows broken open and driver smoking ) to get across town - a trip that usually takes me 15 minutes max. Didn't get back to Sharm until 1.30am yesterday morning. Our clocks went forward last night so have lost yet another hour of sleep.

Doc went ballistic as have jumped from 65kg to 69kgs in 2 months. I put on 25kg for #1 and ate like a pig but this time hardly eating anything. Don't understand why I'm putting on so much. I've been told I'm "blooming" but I think that's just a nice way of saying "you're fat!!"

andif · 29/04/2005 18:14

Kiwifruit, I am also rediscovering the joys of heartburn! Carrot cake seems to be the worst offender so far - went out for a coffee this am at posh organic garden centre cafe and have been regretting it ever since. You can definitely get big bottles of Gaviscon on prescription - last time I was swigging it straight from the bottle all night long in desperation!! Keep hearing radio ads for peptic2 which sounds great, but bet you can't take it when pg!!

franch · 29/04/2005 19:04

Only one place left for the 2pm pedicure!

LadyLazarus · 30/04/2005 08:34

Just to say I've left NYNC a msg to say I'd like to book the last place for the great pedicure outing!

What is everyone up to over the bank holiday weekend? I am actually off (yay!) but unfortunately have an essay to finish for a course I'm doing at work. Hopefulyl I'll get it finished this morning, and then can head to the park and read, weather permitting

mummyhill · 30/04/2005 08:36

I had to go in to request first bottle of gaviscon and asked for it to be put on a repeat so i wouldn't waste too much of drs time going in for more which he did quite happily. Hope this helps those discovering the joys of acid indigestion. Mine is getting the better of me should of swigged some gaviscon after the cup of tea and before getting out of bed this morning as i ended up being sick all over DH poor love!!!!

Begining to wish i had found out the sex of this little one but heyho not that long to wait and see now is it?

mummyhill · 30/04/2005 08:38

Weather in Birmingham is pretty dismal at the moment and i have to work Monday afternoon as we are required to make our hours up if the store is closed durring our normal working hours (yipee lucky me).

LadyLazarus · 30/04/2005 08:43

mm weather here is not quite the scorcher they predicted! what type of work do you do, mummyhill?

mummyhill · 30/04/2005 08:45

Work in the petrol station at local supermarket, they are trying to move me on to checkouts though not sure if i want to move as we have a lot more freedom in the petrol station with no managers breathing down our necks.

moschops · 30/04/2005 11:31

had my scan yesterday........all is well and baby apparently has long legs. she asked me about my dates as i am 21 weeks by midwife notes but baby definitely measured 23 weeks.

am in a pair of Blooming Marvellous dungarees and am sooooooo comfortable!

andif · 30/04/2005 16:41

Very scary day! Woke up this morning, went to loo and started bleeding copiously. Dh still on way home from US, so at home on own with 2 kids. Dr said to call ambulance!! Friend came on mercy mission, and I went off with flashing lights, feeling a bit of a fraud! Taken in to maternity unit which I found v distressing as at that time was convinced I had lost babe and was surrounded by new babies and mums with big grins on faces. To cut a long story short, baby is fine, they kept me in a couple of hours to check bleeding stopped. It seems to be cervical erosion so could recur - could do without that really! Dh now back with jetlag, so we're both walking around like zombies - I still feel a bit in shock! Convinced must be girl to put me through all this!!!

LadyLazarus · 30/04/2005 17:14

aww glad everything turned out fairly alright for you andif! sending calming vibes your way
