Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
zubb · 26/04/2005 19:32

Hi Franch - how are you feeling at the moment?
Glad the rescan went well! My ds1 and ds2 look eerily similar, so I'm wondering if this one will be another little clone! He'll be wearing all the same clothes and playing with the same toys - will save us a fortune!

ych · 26/04/2005 20:05

Had my 2nd scan today and everything is fine. Didn't find out the sex of it, want it to be a surprise as it's my first although DH is convinced it's a girl as didnt see any boys bits! Glad everyone else's scans have went well. I've never seen the same midwife and have to go to a different hospital in a different town to give birth as they closed our maternity hosp down over 10 years ago. Have recently started to get quite emotional and cry at the slightest things. Moschops - can't believe your nursery is almost finished, ours is like a shell - bare walls & floor. I have to keep the door shut so I can't see it as otherwise think I would be freaking out. I know we'll get there but just want it finished. I only seem to feel movement when I'm lying on the settee propped up with pillows.

moschops · 26/04/2005 20:12

ych........nursery is practically finished because we are in the middle of a large building project and i think dp wanted an easy job for a weekend!!!

my belly is starting to feel really erm 'stretched' and tight........i'm finding it quite uncomfortable at times and bending over is now impossible, it's just too uncomfortable.

Kiwifruit · 26/04/2005 21:19

I've had 2 midwife appointments with 2 different midwives. Have some appts with the midwife at the GP, but not for a while yet. Saw the first midwife working on the labour ward when I went for the tour, but the 2nd one I saw definitely won't be delivering my baby, as she's due the day after me! The lack of continuity of care doesn't fill me with confidence, so we are in the process of interviewing doulas to make sure that we have someone we know with us throughout the delivery (checked out private midwives, but the cost was a bit out of our reach...).

Think I'm starting to feel some movement now, and bending over feels very odd - don't think I'll be able to do that for much longer!

Had today off work, as was completely exhausted, with a throbbing headache when I got home yesterday. Am feeling muchh better, but not really looking forward to going back to the office tomorrow

pooka · 26/04/2005 22:45

Still 2 weeks till my scan Will be 23 weeks.
Have the most horrendous heartburn which effectively stops me eating at all in the evenings - like acid reflux really. Am still convinced that must be having a hairy boy as this pregnancy feels completely different to dd's (still pretty bald at 21 months ). But wont be finding out the sex as want a suprise.

mummyhill · 26/04/2005 22:59

Pooka ask gp for gaviscon best stuff i found last time for raging heartburn and you get it free on prescription!!!!!! Have lost sight of my toes but am still able to bend although tummy is deffinatly getting tighter.

Kiwifruit · 27/04/2005 09:44

Thanks for the tip Mummyhill - was wondering if you could get Gaviscon on prescription. Will call today! Have had nasty heartburn for the last couple of days, and was speaking to a friend in NZ over the weekend, who said with her last pregnancy in the last 3 months, she had it so bad that all she could eat was mashed potato!

franch · 27/04/2005 09:51

Hi all, thanks for asking how I am zubb, have been much better as keeping busy, but had a horrendous night with DD last night - she was a terrible sleeper up till about Christmas (11m) and has been an absolute dream since then - about 7pm to 8am most nights - but recently has been teething and has had a cold. Not sure if she's still uncomfortable now though or if it's becoming a behavioural thing again - anyway hardly any sleep for me last night and I'm a complete zombie today. Was hoping the good nights would continue till Sept so that I could stock up on some energy before then! Can't face a return to the dark days pre-Christmas - I really couldn't go anywhere or do anything I was getting so little sleep - and now with the pregnancy I need it more than ever. Fingers crossed it's just a little phase .....

pooka · 27/04/2005 12:44

I'm sure it is just a phase Franch. DD also teething (still) and so lots of broken nights here too
Will definately get gav prescription - am drinking it by the bottlefull at the moment.

Boompi · 27/04/2005 14:04

Glad all scans went well. Had mine today - all seems fine. DH got to see more than I did and was amazed by detail. Had to go back in three times till baby in right position to see heart so in xray dept for 2 hours! Didnt ask about sex as want a surprise. Couldnt get a really good photo though - so bit of a disappointment.

I have seen different midwives both times and assume this will continue.

Nursery not even close - still
my study.

Have put on a stone! This seems like a lot for 21 weeks?!

Kiwifruit · 27/04/2005 15:05

Has anyone got their Mat B1 form (??think this is what it's called) yet? Do you get it from the GP or the MW? Would I need to ask for it, or is it just given to you as a matter of course? I didn't get given it at my last MW appointment, and next one isn't until the end of June - think I will need it before then (will be less than 15 weeks until baby due - aaggghh!!!).

Piccalilli · 27/04/2005 16:11

Kiwifruit - they should give you your MATB1 but they often forget if you don't ask for it - a friend of mine didn't get hers til two weeks before she was due. If you ring your GP or MW they should be able to leave it for you to pick up I would have thought??

Boompi, I've put on about a stone too - the book I read said that was fine for this stage (and I'm actually a couple of weeks behind you so no more chocolate for me!)

I think I finally felt the baby move this afternoon - it's hard to explain what it felt like but it didn't feel like wind (and I've had more than my fair share so I should know)

Kiwifruit · 27/04/2005 16:18

Thanks Picallili - will call and see if I can pick it up when I go for my scan in a couple of weeks.

If anyone is keen to meet/have a pedicure on 14th May, see this thread about making a booking...

Kiwifruit · 27/04/2005 16:19

OK, that didn't work, try here

Boompi · 27/04/2005 17:35

Kiwifruit - you ususually get your MatB1 at about 22 - 26 weeks and your work usually need it to officially approve your leave so about the same time.

PiccadillyCircus · 28/04/2005 08:11

I am too busy at work.

For some reason have been being "nice" and trying to help out other people and end up dealing with lots of things I wasn't involved in at the beginning but have to clear up the pieces of.

Yesterday I was here for 12 hours, from 7:30am until 7:30pm. Hoping to manage slightly less than that today but DH is on picking up duty for DS from nursery again. Haven't seen DS awake since Tuesday evening - at this rate I won't see him until tomorrow .

Oh well, going on holiday with many members of DH's family (9 including small one inside me) for the weekend tomorrow (long weekend until Tuesday) and that will be very nice. And then my scan next Wednesday.

I have put on about a stone although a few pounds seem to have appeared this week . I think I am on the way to becoming an elephant again.

I'm sure I will be sick some time today. Much too tired. But I will keep on going and be fine .

OP posts:
LadyLazarus · 28/04/2005 09:52

Aah I'm glad people have mentioned the weight gain... I too have put on 1 stone, and got told off by my GP yesterday because of it! she said "oh the average wt gain is a stone and a half, and you've put on a stone already"... I did tell her I'm not eating much more than I would do normally, and she said "yes but just so you're aware"... Needless to say that I went home in floods of tears! (might be something to do with the fact that I used to have an eating disorder in a former life ). If there's nothing we can do about the wt gain, why mention it in this way?!! Sorry, it just really got my goat!

Kiwifruit · 28/04/2005 10:13

I haven't been near the scales since my booking in appointment - last appointment the MW said they won't weigh me again unless I look to be putting on excessive amounts or not putting on enough.

I would be very with my GP too if I were you Lady L. Don't let them upset you though - as long as you're happy with the gain, I wouldn't worry about it.

PiccadillyCircus · 28/04/2005 10:26

LadyL, your GP is being silly. 1.5 stone is a gain of only 21lb, which is not the average. Definitley below it I think.

Last pregnancy I put on 4.5 stone or 63lb. And all was well .

OP posts:
pooka · 28/04/2005 11:00

I also put on 4 and a half stone (was 9 stone or maybe slightly less, underweight for me, due to training for great north run). Have put on 1 stone 6 pounds so far from a starting weight of 10 stone 6 ish, which is amazing given that this time I've been sick and pretty much unable to eat in the evenings. Just goes to show that your body will retain what it needs. Fully expect to end up about 13 and a half stone again!
Anyway, LadyL, I'd ignore your doctor, eat healthily with occasional excess, sod the weight gain.

pooka · 28/04/2005 11:02

And dd was only 6 pounds 10 (3 kg)

VirtualFairy · 28/04/2005 13:16

Hi all,
I have put on a stone too, looks like most people have here so far so it must be normal! its natural in pregnancy to put weight on in other areas as well as bump its the body's natural way to conserve energy for labour and the crazy life after i reckon.
my last 2 pregnancys i put on 2 1/2 stone ish and about a month after the birth only had about 1/2 stone to lose and i didnt diet or anything was just busy lol

VirtualFairy · 28/04/2005 13:36

i just got a letter through the post telling me the baby is not high risk of downs syndrome, i am reieved , its took 5 weeks to get the result i was hoping no news is good news and i guess it is

LadyLazarus · 28/04/2005 15:42

Thanks for the nice words... I hadn't been concerned about the wt gain at all to be honest until the GP mentioned it! I thought because my blood pressure / urine / all of that had been fine then that's what mattered....

Anyway! Had my scan this morning, and all is well. And... it's a girl!! have tons of nice girls names on the list, but one in particular I think we will probably go for

mummyhill · 28/04/2005 15:49

Lady L don't worry I put on well over 4 stone last time round (mostly water round DD) and i was seruiousley overweight to start with due to the thyroid problem and everything was fine GP is being unrealistic.

Virtualfairy - That is great news you must be walking on cloud nine!!

My midwife team/ gp won't give me a matB1 till 24 weeks (only 3 weeks to go then!)

Work are still arguing as to wether or not they can cover two weeks holiday at the end of july for me i can't see why they can't get someone in to do my mat cover two weeks early it's not as if working in a petrol station for a major supermarket is rocket science. On a count down till i can leave as i am getting really fed up with attitudes etc of people i work with and for.

Have spent today making a fishing game will try to replicate it with the mother and toddler group i run a week on monday, get to have a week off from it due to the bank holiday although i will have to go into work to make up my hours as they are closed durring my usual shift, this new contract is horrid never bothered me when i didn't do Mondays really winds me up now that i do as i have to go in every bank holiday, would be lovely to spend one or two at home with the family.
