Oh Ruby, not you too ! Sammysam is right and you should ask for your blood to be tested to be sure. I feel very lucky that my midwife is so proactive in dealing with this slapped face - albeit she took a while to wind up to the action ! - I'm now having 4-weekly scans until 20 weeks and then more frequently after that.

One of the other pregnant mums at the school - I think she's maybe 24 weeks - was told that if she doesn't feel 10 movements in a day that she needs to present herself at A&E as it's possible the baby has had heart failure ! Our consultant (we have the same) is very good, highly desired, but very matter of fact !

I'm now 15+3 and had a dirty brown discharge on Saturday - trailing off and starting again until last night - I'm having a scan at the EPU tomorrow morning to see what's going on ! This baby is not having an easy time !

HumphreysCorner · 21/04/2009 11:28

ICINB-how worrying for you. I still scrutinise the toilet paper as I dread seeing anything on there. Hope all is OK with your baby. Very worrying for the school mum friend. I don't think I have ever had 10 movements a day with either pregnancies. Hope her baby's heart stays strong.

Morning all,

I had a wonderful sunny weeks holiday in Cornwall last week then spent all yesterday at work reading through the thread . Oh well, ease myself back into the working week slowly.

Sorry for everyone still suffering nausea or sickness . I've been really lucky and have only had a few bouts of very mild nausea since 10 weeks (17+2 today). Actually, as I haven't had to buy any bigger clothes yet I hardly feel pregnant at all - I'm really looking forward to getting a bit of a bump and feeling the baby move but I have quite a bit of padding (plenty of me to hide the bean) so I think it might happen later rather than sooner.

Sorry for all the slapped cheek worries too . I'd never even heard of it before but it seems fairly common. Ruby I hope it turns out to be something else totally harmless so you don't have to worry.

ICBINB - good luck at the EPU and enjoy seeing you wee one again

HC - your DD sounds really cute, bless her patting your bump!

sammysam - which sling are you going for? I am so excited over buying the cot, pram, sling etc but I'm trying to remind myself I am not even half way yet so don't need to buy anything for a while. I just want to rush out now and start spending.

BTW I have my 20 week scan on the 11th May - do we have a scan list somewhere. Sorry, I keep losing track of what's going on on this thread although I try to keep up to date . We are hoping to find out whether the bean is a boy or a girl and I'm so excited.

lixanismapolium · 21/04/2009 12:10

idreamofbeanie - this is the link to the scan list

ICBINB - thinking of you at the EPU - hope it all goes well

HumphreysCorner · 21/04/2009 12:19

How exciting, we can do a list of what we are having. Boy, girl or surprise.

Thank god Ruby, hope your wee one is ok...just so glad your ok.

ICBINB...Good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you x

Seen the midwife today, also got to hear the heartbeat, it took ages for her to find it, a breathing in moment!

Hope everyone else is well

rubyslippers · 21/04/2009 18:05

thanks Littlepea - and how lovely for you to hear the HB even if it took a little while

i have a MW appt on Friday so hoping i will hear it too

hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the glorious weather

princessmel · 21/04/2009 21:04

Hello everyone

Nothing much to report, just checking in.

I have been very lucky today and dh came home with some maternity things for me. He bought me a shirt and a shrug/cardi from the MAMA H and M range. Then mum popped in with some maternity crops she got me from Tchibo!! They're fab She could only get a 10 so they might not fit me for ages and ages, perfect for now though.

I have been feeling faint a lot recently. Need to sit down if I start to feel funny. Had an episode in Gullivers land on sunday too. I suffer from raynauds syndrome and when I am pregnant I get it in my breasts. It's so painful That makes me feel faint too untill it passes (sundays took about half an hour).

I have not been having much luck with my doppler recently. Last night it sounded as though there was a party going on in there, so noisy! No hb though.

Good news about it not being slapped cheek ruby.

ICBINB good luck tomorrow, I'm sure it's fine and you are getting an extra scan

sammysam · 22/04/2009 08:43

ICBINB Good luck for today-I'm sure you'll be ok-what a very nasty scare Please let me know how you get on.
After reading your post I have decided to ring the GP's and give them some shit. I'm now really angry that they don't appear to be taking any action or taking it very seriously. How can one area do weekly scans and then more frequently and then this area do nothing til my 20wk scan. I'm shocked that they have done nothing to explain anything. Plus when I spoke to the receptionist she said it says +result no action on my notes WTF? I am fuming at the moment. Sorry for the rant.

I hope everyone is ok today?

I haven't decided on the sling yet-but it will be a wrap as I have a mai tai and pouch already (and a bb)

God i'm sorry my blood is really boiling-i'll come back when I have hopefully calmed down a bit

sammysam · 22/04/2009 08:56

ps ICBINB where do you live? Or does anyone else know? Might mention it to gp-would rather pretend I actually know you rather that say 'someone i've met on the net' iynwim!!! Still very

rubyslippers · 22/04/2009 10:41

good luck to ICBINB as well

Sammy - what is up? Is this re the slapped cheek or something else ... sorry if i am a bit out of the loop

Am glad to see you are a sling expert - will deffo need your help i think

How is everyone else doing? Lovely sunshine here (from what I can see from my grimy office window )

littlepea72 · 22/04/2009 11:27

Sammysam im very shocked that you arent getting more scans! ...go see your GP, your 20 wk scan is far to long to wait, and your nerves must be sky high!

sammysam · 22/04/2009 11:48

Ruby-yes I tested + for a recent parvovirus infection-the same as ICBINB but have been told NOTHING about it by anyone yet!

Littlepea-GP rang me back and after listening to me rant and cry he was very very lovely explained some things and has faxed my consultant over a letter-he says I should have already been having scans and should have seen the consultant by now....So now just have to wait for the hospital to phone to tell me the new apts-should be very soon hopefully. It just shows what a difference where you live/which health professional you see makes! I can't believe it has taken this long I only realised how stressed I was this morning-but at least hopefully things will get moving now.

Have also finally arranged to go and look round some pre-schools for dd to hopefully start in sept. I have no idea what i'm looking for or what questions etc to ask-does anyone have any tips. Seeing one on fri and 2 more next week.

Feel slightly calmer now-sorry for my earlier posts

ICBINB-I really hope everything is ok x x x

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 22/04/2009 11:59

Morning ! I'm just back from my scan and all is still well. Baby's heart is good and strong and there's no sign of any problems with hydrops.

The hydrops is a symptom of the fetal anaemia (causaed by slapped cheek) which obviously can't be diagnosed from a scan so they rely on the presence of the hydrops (water accumulating on neck and around heart/organs) to diagnose any problems.

They could find no reason for the bleed and think it's just my cervix playing up with all the hormones - I had several abnomal smears in 2000 and had 2 operations to remove cancerous bits off my cervix !

I'd definitely cause a fuss Sammysam - I'm well aware that at this stage of our pregnancies that they can't cure the baby if anything does go wrong but, at least with regular scanning you get a warning of problems/loss. I think it's around 22 weeks they can give the blood transfusion if the baby needs it - seems so far away and yet I bet it will be here in no time !

I'm in Kent - William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.

rubyslippers · 22/04/2009 12:08

sammysam - i am appalled for you. Glad your GP was sympathetic and hopefully things can get movign with some more urgency

ICBINB - so pleased for you. Must be a relief

sammysam · 22/04/2009 12:20

that is fantastic news ICBINB

I hope that my phonecall this morning has got things moving. My brain is really playing tricks on me at the moment-I have really bad cramps at the mo so my brain is going crazy. I'm sure it must be trapped wind though....

I have acupuncture this afternoon so hopefully she'll be able to treat my stress as well as she did last time......

I'm so happy everything is ok!

Treats · 22/04/2009 13:40

Hi everyone - it's been a little while, but I've been quite busy and had to take a day off sick on Monday. Wouldn't normally take a day off for backache but figure I need to look after it right now.

sammysam - I'm so sorry for all your worry. Congrats for ranting at the doctor though and at least that seems to have worked. Hope you hear soon about your scan and that you get some positive news. Sorry that you're still feeling rough as well. You're having a tough time, aren't you. Hopefully the acupuncture will give you a chance to chill out.

ICBINB - Really pleased for you that its good news so far. Fingers crossed that all your scans are positive.

any advice on slings very welcome here. I know that I definitely want one of these and/or a baby carrier as an alternative to a pram, and am keen to hear people's reviews.

littlejay · 22/04/2009 18:09

Sammysam - glad you managed to get some reassurance from your GP. Sometimes it pays to rant!
ICBINB - so glad the scan was reassuring, good to know they'll keep a close eye on things but all sounds positive!
Just wondered whether anyone else is ridiculously grumpy for no good reason? I have turned into devil-woman especially at work and have no idea why. Worse this week for some reason. Think DH has been hiding in the garden while the weather is good!
Not helped by having lots of visitors this weekend and next - seemed like a good idea to invite people at the time as we've recently moved away so friends are coming to see our new place. At this rate, they won't be coming back in a hurry

HumphreysCorner · 22/04/2009 20:12

ICBINB-excellent news about bubba.

sammysam-I'm sorry you have all this stress and hope you get some resolve soon. I have cramping today so nearly freaked out while I was having my hair cut.

Waiting for my maternity skirt to be delivered from La Redoute. Ordered it a week ago and had an E-Mail today to say it will be delivered in the next 5-10 days-that seems such a long time and one skirt will have to be returned so wonder how long that will take to be refunded. My pregnancy news is slowly filtering around the playground and some mums are congratulating me which is nice. DD1 has kindly told the PIL that we are having a boy-result!

Hope all OK.

littlepea72 · 22/04/2009 20:34

ICBINB...great news, what a worry that must of been.

Sammysam...Im glad your GP seen sense. Its hard enough knowing you have it, but for them not to be watching that things are going ok...not good.

When i went to the hospital because of the cramps, they said it was very normal, they also said it can be worse than your first pregnancy, but not to worry.

Im starting to come out in spots on my tummy & my arms....dont know what thats all about!

fidelma · 22/04/2009 20:49

bellcullenkeep your legs together.(I guess if you had you wouldn't be in this sittuation!!!)Don't swing one leg out of the car or bed then the other Keep then together. When putting on shoes and socks Dont lift the leg without supporting yourself with your hand on a table, best to sit down.No breast stroke and no big stretches.Dont sit crossed legged.Walk with smaller steps.Hope this helps.I also suffer from dps. When I teach ante natal classes this is the advice I give.Hope it helps.

MeHimCatBlob · 22/04/2009 21:52

Hi all

thanks for the info about maternity clothes - will check them out. Can anyone tell me when you get your blood test results from your checking in appointment? Mine was in mid-March and I havent heard anything yet - do they only tell you if there is a problem?

oh well, first scan tomorrow morning at 13 weeks exactly (thought it was 14 but clearly had a bad counting moment!). Fingers crossed

all the best to everyone still feeling crook and hope those of you with parvo, colds etc feel much better soon

idreamofbeanie · 22/04/2009 22:33

MHCB - I didn't get any results back from my blood tests until I saw the midwife again at 16 weeks. There weren't any problems with them but I assume they would have been in touch earlier if anything had come up. To be honest the midwife didn't even look at them until I asked whether there was any reason I couldn't arrange a home birth.

Bellacullen - sorry you are suffering !

Sammysam - glad your GP is FINALLY doing something to help. Hopefully the scans will help put your mind at ease - at least as much as is possible.

I've been feeling a bit crampy today and had weird tingly pains, like little shocks, low on my stomach and in my pelvis. They aren't very painful, just niggly. I assume it's just everything stretching and making space but it's very odd . Is anyone else feeling like this?
