Hi all - wow, I can't believe how many posts I just had to catch up on. newhere and sophable I'm really sorry to hear your news. Hope everyone else is coping with ms. I've been feeling horrific with it all and have had such a dodgy stomach for weeks too (sorry tmi!) Went to the docs on Tues and he gave me a big bottle of galvascone to try and stop me having so much acidity in case that's what is causing the nausea - only managing to take it once a day cos it's so gloopy it actually makes me start wretching. He's also given me anti sickness tablets (think they're called cyclozine or something like that) but haven't taken them yet, I know they're supposed to be OK to take, but I'm nervous... has anyone else had them before? I'm trying not to winge too much to the hubby, but he's being really sweet - doing the Asda shopping, chores etc cos I've been feeling so bad and just keeps telling me that I'm the bean carrier and it's a very important job - bless him! I've got my first scan on 30 April - seems like such a long time still to wait... sorry for the long ramble... XX

cupofteaplease · 04/04/2009 11:00

Thanks for that Laugs.

However, I fail to see how 5 cans of coke can be any better for the baby than 2 cups of tea !

Laugs · 04/04/2009 11:06

Or 8 bars of milk chocolate - yum!

BeckyBendyLegs · 04/04/2009 11:23

Morning all! Wow I don't check this thread for about 12 hours and boom! There's loads more!

I do like the bunny icons. Very 'festive' in an Eastery way.

I feel so sorry for those of you throwing up. LissyGlitter poor you. I feel such a fraud because I feel relatively ok. I had a bad week of constant nausea from 5.5 weeks to 6.5 weeks but now feel not too horrendous with the odd wave usually at tea time.

I'm sitting here eating left-over couscous and drinking hot chocolate. I'm doing work this morning while the DSs are out shopping with DH. I have sooo much work to do. Being freelance sucks big time sometimes. I find it so hard to shut off.

I hope everyone is ok today. I still have no evidence that I am really pregnant except no AF and bigger boobs and other physical symptoms so very at those of you who have had scans.

cupcakefairy · 04/04/2009 12:34

Hi girls, just popping in v quickly to say all went as it was meant to last week, although the day in hospital was horrendous as any of you who have had a mmc know, I'm sure! At least we can start looking to the future now.

Newhere I was so SO sorry to read your news hope you are being well taken care of by your boys.

Iggypiggy I know exactly how you feel- the waiting to find out after negativity by doctors at your first scan is HORRIBLE and I cried so much. Really keeping hopeful for you for Tues. It was my first pg too so I know how scary it is

Anyway, hope everyone else is ok and good luck to you all xxx

scarlotti · 04/04/2009 16:02

cupcakefairy glad it went well at the hospital under the circumstances. Hope you and your dh can now start the grieving process and come out the other side.
Am sure we'll see you back here soon.

turtle23 · 04/04/2009 18:12

Fruitpastels- I was supposed to have a home birth last time but ended up transferring as DS got into trouble. Am defo having another bash at it this time. Already booked my doula.

BeckyBendyLegs · 04/04/2009 18:28

I only just made it through the hospital doors last time I gave birth: might be a home birth whether I like it or not this time!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 04/04/2009 18:36

Hey all, cupcake sorry you had to experience it.

Sickness - omg yesterday was just horrendous. This morning, I had a bowl of cornflakes, straight to bed again, lay there for an hour fighting sickness and then remember the accupressure bands by the side of my bed (given by a friend last night). put them on and they worked a treat. An absolute treat. It took about half hour to feel like I was not going to puke, then after an hour i felt ready to eat toast and marmite and sip sparkling water.

This afternoon I had a chuppa chup when I felt sick, helped too!

Fingers crossed, I shan't be taken them off for now!

LovelyPear · 04/04/2009 18:53

cupcakefairy I'm sorry you had a horrid experience in hospital, but you're so right to be positive.

I have been quiet for a bit as I felt my symptoms disappearing (although my bump has been growing!). On Thurs this week I had a scary bright red bleed - no pain or cramps but around 2tbsp. I panicked and called my midwife unit who advised me to call my gp as I wasn't officially booked in there yet. My gp referred me to the EPAC at Eastbourne and this morning I had a scan and had some very sad news. The sac was there and the baby, but no heartbeat . It was measuring only 3.7mm which is about right for 5 wks but I thought I was 8/9 wks. So, in short I have been told I have had an "incomplete m/c" and have to go back in 10 days for another scan to see if there's been any change. However I could m/c naturally before then. I'm terrified about that, especially as I'm alone at home with DS all day, but hoping it won't be too bad. Sorry for the huge post, and for bringing you all down on this gorgeous evening, but just wanted to let you know and to take myself off the list.

newhere and iggy I'm so sorry to hear your news. Hope you're taking things easy and looking after yourselves.

huge hugs and congratulations to everyone else. I'll be thinking of you all come late-Oct/early-Nov! xxxx

Oh Lovelypear- what sad news. I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope things work out for you and that you have people to take care of you.

I only popped on to say I was worried as I think I have eaten curdled creme fraiche and now feel sick. But in comparison, that is extremely trivial.

I really feel sad for all you ladies who have been given such sad news- be strong

Joycey29 · 04/04/2009 20:22

Hey Lovely Pear so sorry for your news - I know this wait will be awful! I would try and have someone on hand to help out if you can, in case it all gets too much.
Take care!

Flumpity · 04/04/2009 20:27

oh lovelypear, i'm so sorry for your news. also iggy and cupcake.

scarlotti, interesting re acupuncture for nausea. i will try it. i have an acupuncturist who we saw for fertility probs and also migraine for me and exzema for dh and it was like a miracle cure, so i will def give it a go. hadn't heard of it sorting out ms though. i find the travel sickness acupressure bands work brilliantly well, but problem is i don't want to wear them and certainly not at work because no one knows yet. they are somewhat of a giveaway...

southernbelle77 · 05/04/2009 07:32

Lovelypear I'm so sorry to hear your news. Try and rest and have someone around who can help if things start happening at home. Thinking of you.

I've got excessive tiredness back at the moment. I think I could sleep all day if it was possible! MS seems to have tailed off for a couple of days which is nice. Nausea still here, although not as bad as it was. Trying to be grateful about it rather than worrying!!

2 weeks of easter holidays looking after 5+ children every day is going to be very hard work!

Tabbycat - I'm finding it increasingly tiring at the moment! I'm also finding changing nappies and dealing with baby sick dreadful!!!

Hmm, I've woken up looking pregnant this morning. Ridiculous considering I'm only about 7 weeks. Going to see in laws in an hour- hope they don't ay anything!

BeckyBendyLegs · 05/04/2009 11:08

LovelyPear so very sorry to hear your news. Your story is the same as mine was last Spring. I had a scan to be told the same as you and had to wait another week for a follow-up scan. The MC happened properly during the week between the scans for me. Is there someone you could call to come over if you need extra help and support during the week?

I've been busy this weekend working and cleaning. My MS only seems to appear around this time and in the evening and it is really very mild in comparison to many of you guys. My boobies ache like mad though. I don't remember them aching so much during previous pregnancies.

Munchies37 · 05/04/2009 11:51

Lovely Pear I'm so sorry to hear your news - hugs to you and hope people are around to take good care of you.

Kyte thanks for your advice about cyclizine, it's good to know someone else who is using it. I took just one tablet yesterday which seemed to help, have managed not to take any so far today, so I think I'm just going to take them when I feel I need to. Thanks for the tip about over the counter being cheaper, as I only got 21 with my prescription. Glad it's making you feel better )

Hope everyone is managing to enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

Tabbykat · 05/04/2009 13:06

Sorry to hear your news Lovelypear - hope you manage to get someone to take care of you this week.

Nausea a bit better today - especially as have just scoffed a McD's - i find really fatty or salty food does seem to help.

Southerbelle - don't envy you the babies nappies - although two of mine are training at the mo so getting a bit fed up of clearing up wee incessantly. Are you a cm too, Fruitpastels? Have five here this week but next week is pretty quiet, thank goodness. Desperate to get to my scan though as am really starting to show and think the parents will all guess pretty soon. Dreading telling them.....

Hope everyone having a nice relaxing sunday and not feeling too sick.

scarlotti · 05/04/2009 14:18

Lovelypear am so sorry to hear your news. Take good care of yourself and give yourself plenty of time to get over it all. Thinking of you.

Flumpity I'd definitely give the acupuncture a go, especially if you've found it helpful in the past.

claired21 · 05/04/2009 15:01

Can I join the club?

I got a copy of Emma's Diary from my GP on my first appointment and have been checking mum's net for a while but only just discovered this thread.

This is my first pregnancy, I'm 6+4. I live near Glasgow and my EDD at the moment is 25th November.

Symptoms so far are tiredness, sore boobs and over the past couple of days I've developed constant nausea but haven't actually been sick yet.

Good luck to all the other Nov mums, hope everyone is feeling ok today x

weston · 05/04/2009 17:37

had an early reassurance scan on sat morning and all is well! and even better there is only one!! makes it seem abit more real but still soo many stages of worry to go thro! booked in for nuchal on 30th april, good job these are all private still haven't heard from my midwife!

beckybendylegs - i only live 25 mins from shrewsbury, spend quite abit of time there as good friend lives there; great places for kids and only pizza express around!

cupofteaplease · 05/04/2009 17:58

I went to the in laws today and we popped along to their friends' farm to see the baby piglets whoo were born the other day. MIL turned to me and said, 'you're not pregnant, are you?' I was a bit shocked but just blurted out, 'no, why?', and she said that there is a risk of miscarriage being around lambs, who were in the same tiny barn.

So, I spent the whole time feeling really panicky. When I got back to their house I scrubbed my hands, but still feel parainoid. When I got home here I checked on the internetand it seems to be a real risk ony if you handle the placenta. However, I still feel guilty. I guess the easiest thing would have been to say, 'yes I am pregnant- what a coincidence!' however I am desperate to keep it to myself until I've had another scan.

Cies · 05/04/2009 21:27

cupofteaplease I should think you'll be ok if you've scrubbed your hands etc. Did you touch the animals at all?

We also went to the inlaws today and broke the news. Everyone was very happy and full of questions. A couple of them said they had had suspicions already for a few weeks, in fact it was 17yo nephew who seemed to be the most perceptive. Dh ran away and left me to fend the questions , but it was much less of an interrogation than I had expected.

FIL true to form (very elderly and direct ) said "congratulations, I hope you won't call him Feliciano." When I picked him up and said "it may be a girl you know", he replied "I know, but I'd prefer a boy. We need more boys to carry on the name. And boys are stars" (wtf??) Anyway, I shouted back (he's as deaf as a doorknob) that he had no say in the sex and it would be what it would be, all with an angelic smile on my face as if butter wouldn't melt in my mouth .

I've felt less tired these last couple of days, but still with nausea and tugging sensations in my womb. I'm now 8+3, and counting down to the scan on 29th April.

Hope you have all had a nice weekend, and are feeling ok.

Laugs · 06/04/2009 08:03

Lovelypear I'm really sorry to hear your news and I hope you are being well looked after.

claired21 welcome to the thread! My EDD is 21st November so we're not far apart.

cupofteaplease I woke up yesterday looking pregnant too! I am 7 weeks today (I think - seeing midwife on Thursday). Clearly I have no stomach muscles left from last time around.

Can I ask when people got their scan dates: was it when you had your booking in appointment with the midwife?

I am trying to decide whether to bring DD to mine. Did anyone else bring a toddler? I think it's probably better not to - just in case there are any problems - but it would be quite a hassle not to bring her. Would she actually be allowed in the scanning room?

Anyone looking forward to next weekend for 4 days of solid rest, while DP/DH does everything?!
