Cupoftea I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. You've had a very emotional couple of weeks so take it easy and make sure you and your family get lots of time together to get through this. I am sure we will see you here again with more news before November

pavlovthepregnantcat · 22/04/2009 16:47

Cupoftea I wish I could say something to make it better. Thinking of you [hug]

pavlovthepregnantcat · 22/04/2009 16:52

I am sick as a dog. I had a great couple days over the weekend, thought I had turned a corner, but no. Monday at 4:00pm I upchucked everything I had eaten all day, none of it digested. On tuesday I held nothing down, all day and had to leave work early, I managed to keep some tea down, small amount. Today, I have held nothing down all day again, apart from a cup of lemon and ginger tea given by a colleague (she gave me the whole box, the love!). I was meant to be working til 9pm running a group tonight, have left my co-tutor running on her own , feel a bit pathetic and useless. I keep thinking that people say 'you are not sick, your pregnant' - well I bloody well feel sick right now.

I am now home in bed, eating something to eat tentatively, hoping/willing it to stay down and I am going to sleep.

Anyone else finding themselves dehydrated with the sickness? I have been to the toilet twice today only, and very dark, my skin has gone crepey and I have dark circles under my eyes and a banging headache....

Laugs · 22/04/2009 16:55

Tigger glad your scan went well Mine is still 3 weeks away, feels like forever.

Becky how was your DS' morning at nursery?

We've had a lovely sunny day here so been out in the park for a couple of hours. On the way home DD (2.5) looked down at her tummy and said "I've got a baby in my tummy. I'm going to have a little baby." Not sure where that came from but do you think I need to have a chat to her already? And what should I say?

Laugs · 22/04/2009 16:58

Oh pavlov that sounds awful. I think it is your advice I have been following of just keeping on eating, but I am dreading throwing it all up again. It sounds like bed is the best place for you. If you keep drinking though I'm sure some of it will be absorbed before you have time to be sick. Hoping it gets better for you.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 22/04/2009 17:15

Laugs - yes, I did say just keep eating. But last two days, my mantra did was not reliable. I did not shy away from eating, continued to do so, and it just kept coming back up.

Oh, and TOP TIP OF THE DAY - if you are suffering from MS and have a desire to eat grapefruit, no matter how appealing it seems - do not do it. The experience afterwards is not worth it.

Fruitpastels · 22/04/2009 17:32

Cupoftea I'm so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself.

BeckyBendyLegs · 22/04/2009 17:41

Pavlov I feel for you - it does sound like you are a bit dehydrated. Perhaps it is just a bad wave of sickness and it'll pass and get more 'normal' tomorrow. I hope so.

Laugs DS2 loved his time this morning! He was so ready to go. He can't wait to go back tomorrow!

Tamlin · 22/04/2009 18:01

Cupoftea, I'm so sorry. I was so hoping you'd get a miraculous result from your scan... good luck with your healing.

Pavlov, have you tried sucking on polo mints..? They were just about the only thing that worked with ds. Watch for dehydration - if you're having real trouble keeping liquids down you'll need an IV drip and possibly medication (although the NHS is quite sketchy about providing it; my old doc wouldn't prescribe, my current doc does). I also found that I could suck on very small ice cubes of pineapple juice during the point where water made me throw up.

HomeintheSun · 22/04/2009 18:13

Cupoftea I hope you're resting and getting the support from friends and family, sending you hugs and best wishes.
Pavlov I hope you feel better soon.

DS has been really good today and the creche are going to help with his OCD phase, and he's been weeing standing up like a big boy, so all in all a very positive day and 3 days until DH comes home.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 22/04/2009 18:43

Tamlin i hope it does not get that bad! lemon and ginger tea has stayed down, so that is one cup of liquid at least, even if i do have to hold my nose to drink it!

helips · 22/04/2009 18:50

cupoftea I'm so sorry to hear about your scan, you've really been through the mill and it's all so unfair. Look after yourself and your dh and all the best for the future x

Fruitpastels · 22/04/2009 18:53

Pavlov I thought I had turned a corner with the MS as well, until it hit me today after a few good days without it. Mine doesn't sound as bad as yours and I really feel for you. Try and keep drinking. Were you feeling this bad the 1st time around?

pavlovthepregnantcat · 22/04/2009 18:59

fruitpastels - yes i was, i think. can't remember exactly, i had it all the way through, but my memory has edited it. I am sure i had a bit more energy though. I recall being ok if i ate at certain times, but can't remember when i got some level of control .

pavlovthepregnantcat · 22/04/2009 19:00

oh and sorry you feel rough too.

Fruitpastels · 22/04/2009 19:07

I felt very sickly until my 16th week with DS, but this time around it's been far worse.
Mother Nature is very clever at allowing us to forget all the bad bits. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

The skin on my tummy has got so dry. I think I may be allergic to my washing powder, so I've changed it to a more sensitive one. I am rubbing in loads of E45 which seems to be helping. I'm off for a nice warm bath and leave DH to sort out DS for bed

sleeplessinthecity · 22/04/2009 19:09

cupoftea Really sorry to hear the news. I hope the road to healing is a swift and painless one. You are in my thoughts.

Bad day all round.. MS gettting on my nerves.sick sick sick...Hope the rest of you get better too. What a bummer if it disappears and then comes back!

ursigurke · 22/04/2009 19:15

cupoftea - I am really sorry for you. This up and down must have been terrible. It seems so unfair. I hope you and your husband will the support you need and that you can reach your new goal. Please let us know.

southernbelle77 · 22/04/2009 19:36

cupoftea - I am so so sorry that the scan was not what you wanted. Thinking of you.
