Wow, can't believe sooo many posts on the Nov thread already .

Haven't been posting much because have been doing intensive driving course last 2 weeks in hope of passing test this afternoon.

Am v. jealous of those of you who've already had scans...am desperate because 8 weeks now and have a huge bump!!!! Keep trying to tell myself that it is preg No. 3 and I've been pigging to avoid MS but still...could it be twins???? Please reassure me that my stomach muscles are just hopelessly slack

LadyGooGoo · 02/04/2009 09:32

Might as well update this while I'm here... seems everyone due in Nov is down south! my baby will be in school all on his/her own!

ladygoogoo am loving your name! I am 8 weeks too and have a bump already, this will be my 2nd baby so think it is to do with the slack stomach muscles (and the pigging out in my case!)

LadyGooGoo · 02/04/2009 10:20

Thank God!!!!

It would have made 4 under 4 - sounds suicidal
Can only wear my "fat" jeans now so am already into some maternity stuff - I'm going to be sooo sick of these clothes come autumn.

Was on post-Xmas diet when found out I was pregnant so decided I would virtuously continue the healthy eating (yeah right!.

Ahhh well strict bread and water next Christmas

ursigurke · 02/04/2009 10:34

Good morning ladies.
Well, once again no letter in the mail, so I'm hoping to be able to reach someone in the hospital this afternoon. Otherwise I really have to go there tomorrow morning.
But at least I've just realised that I am definitely healthily pregnant (I sometimes think that maybe I just imagine feeling nauseous because I want to have a sign that everything is fine): today I checked my weight and I definitely lost almost 2kg in the last 2 months. I think this is just because I don't like chocolate anymore and I used to be a real chocoholic. How could I forget my "worst" pregnancy symptom!

cupofteaplease · 02/04/2009 10:49

ursigurke- fab news about losing weight! I was on a wheat and dairy free diet just before falling pregnant and lost 9lb in 3 weeks. Luckily I haven't put on any weight since being pregnant, but I will soon- the only way I can combat my all day MS is to eat. If I don't eat, I feel sick!

I dropped my girls at the childminder's house this morning and she said I looked really ill- must admit, I felt awful!

I've come home and had a bath, and just made myself a sandwich to stop me feeling so wretched. I now have 3 essays to start, journal entries to complete and lessons to plan for my return after Easter. I'm beginning to panic that I just won't have the energy to do my best

Roll on 3rd July when I will be finished! Of course I won't be entitled to any maternity pay from anywhere, but that's a worry for another day...

scarlotti · 02/04/2009 10:51

Morning all

My nausea seems to have returned which now seems doubly hard as I'd had a respite! Still have another acupuncture session tonight so I'm hoping that buys me a few more days peace. Am so tired in the evenings too, but have trouble dropping off to sleep!

Ladygoogoo I have been in maternity trousers at the weekend for 3 weeks now Work trousers are a size bigger than my usuals so you're not alone. This is no.3 for me too - I don't think I have any stomach muscles left! Which bit of North Wales are you from? Went to Bala a few times as a kid as grew up in Cardiff and was in the Urdd!

Fruitpastels · 02/04/2009 11:08

sophable and newherehelp I am so sorry to hear your sad news. All the best.

Ms is finally easing up for me. I'm 9 weeks yesterday, so hoping I've turned a corner and put a stop to seeing my toilet bowl face to face!! I hope it doesn't bite me on the bum now I said that! I'm desperate to buy some bigger jeans or invest in some maternity ones, but don't like the idea of buying them before my scan (in 3 weeks time). I will have to make do with a safety pin and longish tops. I did buy a band to wear around my waist, but it's a little too big.

Have my midwife booking appt tomorrow. I'm so hoping they give me a quick scan, they did last time with ds.

Hope you're all having a good day

lemontop · 02/04/2009 11:41

katster I teach 16-18 year olds in an FE college.

I hope everyone's ok today. I think I'm going to hang on till 12 weeks before I tell people at work. I'm 9 weeks today which means time is finally starting to speed up! My scan is on the 27th so I'm hoping the next few weeks will fly by.

I'm starting to get a bit of backache and am still getting headaches. Does anyone else get these? I wonder what causes them. Bit of a bummer not being able to take anything.

I'm pleased I haven't put any weight on yet but know it's coming. I'm terrified I'm going to be the size of a tank when I get married on 1st August!

Naetha · 02/04/2009 11:52

Urgh MS kicked in this morning. Foolishly I'd left the washing up and kitchen cleaning pile up over the last few days, so it was a case of clearing away plates of congealed gravy (hey, I'm a northener!) and petrified weetabix in between rushing to the back door for huge lungfulls of fresh air.

I then decided to take a break and sit on the sofa reading a book while DS amused himself for a bit (he's usually pretty good for this). He'd gone ever so quiet, so I thought I'd just better check...only to find him IN THE CAT LITTER TRAY!!!!!!!!! SO WRONG!!!!!! We have an area barricaded off in our semi-open-plan utility area for the cat litter tray, feeding bowls and bins etc. It turns out he'd dragged his ride-on toy to the barricade and climbed over it! He's only 15 months, he's not meant to be that inventive yet!!! Thankfully he was just messing the litter (which was fairly clean) about with a scoop, and I'm fairly certain he hadn't touched (or at least eaten!) anything too disgusting. Needless to say there was lots of scrubbing, and lots of crying and whinging. As soon as I put him down, he tried to climb over again! Little bugger! I can't believe I'm going to have another one soon.

When should I let the midwife know I'm pregnant? I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow, but vaguely remember nothing happening for ages and ages!

Anyone from Leeds/Bradford way btw? Oh and LadyGooGoo I may live up north, but I grew up near Bangor if that's anywhere near you!

Naetha · 02/04/2009 11:54

Oh and lol - I was in the Urdd as well!

tigger32 · 02/04/2009 11:55

Hello all

sophable so sorry to hear your news

Well I thought I was feeling a bit better today so have been to ASDA to stock up, I now feel really tired and very sick again, not to mention the dizziness!
I am booked in to see the midwife tomorrow so hope to get a scan date soon!!

lemontop I'm sure you'll look blooming on your wedding day

ursigurke · 02/04/2009 11:59

At the moment I feel very satisfied as I have just written the complaint to my GP surgery.

Lemontop - I'm sure you will look very pretty as bride! I remember you had been worried about the dress, did you actually consider to get one designed for you? I am a bit difficult and didn't like at all the wedding dresses I saw. A normal wedding dress maker is ridiculously expensive but I had found a young girl who had just finished men wear design (but she has originally learnt women dress making). I was very happy with the result and as she is very young it wasn't more expensive than if I had just bought a dress in a normal bridal shop. I wouldn't really want to recommend her unless you are a very relaxed person as she has a bit of a problem with time managment. She kept cancelling appointments with rather stupid excuses and I got the dress the day before I left for the wedding. To cut the long story short, it might be an option to search a young or normal dressmaker, or one of those who specialise in bridesmaids' dresses. They might be able to do it for reasonable prizes.

lemontop · 02/04/2009 12:39

ursigurke That could be an idea. It's the timing I'm a bit worried about. I'm just not sure when to go shopping for a dress as I have no idea what size I'll be on 1st August other than massive! I'm quite big to start off with.

ursigurke · 02/04/2009 12:43

I think there are shops specialising in maternity wedding dresses and they will probably know best about the sizes. I'll flip through my wedding magazines to see if I can find an interesting link for you

Laugs · 02/04/2009 12:56

Naetha I just spoke to my midwife yesterday and she said she comes to see you at 8 weeks, though she's made my appointment for next week actually (7 weeks). Mind you, it did take nearly a week for her to ring me after I contacted the surgery, so might be a good idea to get in touch now.

lemontop it depends what style you like, obviously, but some are just fitted around the bust and thn flow out from an empire line, giving you a bit more room for growth. Monsoon had some quite nice ones last year.

I don't think you'll be the size of a truck! With DD I was due in mid-October (born Nov) and I'm sure that in mid-July - equivalent date to your wedding - I looked my best: definitely a bump, not so huge as to make me waddle, but defined enough that I didn't just look a bit fat. You'll look fab.

Is anyone else nesting?? I have spent the morning sorting and rearranging our linen and towels. This is SO SO SO unlike me and I am feeling quite pleased with myself. DD's back from nursery now so we're off to the park for a picnic. I love the days without MS, I almost feel normal. Long may it last.

ButtercupWafflehead · 02/04/2009 13:20

Hi everyone! Just back from my FIRST MW APPOINTMENT! (well, I found it exciting!) - just got booked in and they took blood etc and handed me a pile of stuff to read and get all excited about.

It seems like it's real, now - things happening and a scan to look forward to! Hooray!

Hope we're all feeling fab this afternoon - take care!

Oh, and I agree that Jul time will be when we look our best - glowing, obviously pregnant but not walking like John Wayne!

ButtercupWafflehead · 02/04/2009 13:56

Obv meant Aug - so lemontop will look ace!

southernbelle77 · 02/04/2009 14:07

Hi, Haven't posted for a couple of days but have been trying to keep up!

Really sorry for those of you that have had bad news. I really hope you get the support that you need.

MS has set in for me good and proper. I feel awful most of the time! As soon as I wake up in the morning I know I am about to throw up so now trying to make sure I get some water inside me first as otherwise it's just horrible! It is making me feel a bit better though! I have early scan tomorrow so I am both excited and nervous. I really really hope that everything is ok but still can't help feeling things might not be. Oh well, will find out soon enough.

iggypiggy · 02/04/2009 14:18

Hi all - just dropping in v. quickly as this is a happy thread and don't have much to add to it at the mo!

Pretty much all of my PG symptoms have now gone and this morning I started spotting - so realistically I think I am going to have to come off the list soon. But will let you all know either way.

Sophable - so sorry to hear your news. xx

kyte it's the same here - I'm 8+3 which is very exciting! I reckon if you manage to get instant mash onto the plane, they won't object to bringing you some boiling water to mix it up..

If they're not too keen, tell them you will otherwise barf all over their carpets!

It's still cheerios and other cereals here, I've been very lucky in the nausea stakes so far! Yippee!

eeyore2 · 02/04/2009 15:20

Kyte, I went on a business trip to Switzerland when my ms was just kicking in. I hope my story makes you laugh rather than cry.... Between boarding the plane and arriving home at our flat (a four hour stretch) I was sick four times. I had to swap seats so that I could be in an aisle seat for easy access to the loos. I ended up sitting next to a nine-year-old girl and her six-year-old brother who spent the whole flight asking me thousands of questions like "what's your favourite animal?" while I struggled to keep my food down.
Also my ms has caused me to be really travel sick in any form of transport. We are planning on buying a new car ready for the baby and went to test drive one last weekend, but I had to keep getting out the car to be sick - the salesman was not impressed!

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/04/2009 16:07

Hi guys

Mash: yum. I love mashed potato at the moment. My heart goes out to all of you suffering with MS so badly and you just seem to accepting of it. I'd also go to pieces if I was throwing up. I am an absolute panic merchant if I throw up. My MS just seems to be nausea on and off. I've just had a pepsi max which was quite soothing.

Iggypiggy I am so sorry . I am thinking of you. It's so sad when these things happen.

I've got a busy couple of weeks coming up so am hoping to be a bit more energetic. I'm going to a funeral next week half way across the country. A ex-colleague of mine from when I worked full-time sadly died earlier this week of a brain tumour. He'd been battling it for over 10 years so since before I knew him. He was an author as well. I felt quite shocked when I learnt the news even though he'd been unwell for so long. It puts things in perspective when things like this happen. The week after that I've promised the DSs that we're going to stay for four days in my dad's caravan by the sea: that is me and them without DH. I'll need lots of strength for that.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today

By the way is anyone else from the Midlands? Most of you seem to be Londoners or around thereabouts. I like that fact we are an international bunch with representations from Austria and Spain! Anywhere else?
