Ladies, it seems that we do not know when to stop!
Here is another thread. Let?s hope it?s just not the tread that moves that fast - let the weeks fly!
I jsut have to work out how to link the old one now!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Is anyone having a planned cs? I have to have one, because I had complications with my emergency one last time. My question is-I'm moving at some point in the pregnancy-could be as late as september-when do I get booked in for my operation? Will I need to contact the hospital in Newcastle before I move? Are there generally problems when you transfer hospitals halfway through a pregnancy?

Laugs · 21/04/2009 16:03

Ooh LissyGlitter I don't have any answers to your questions (although I can't imagine it would be a problem), but I live in Newcastle! Well, just outside in Gateshead, but will be giving birth at the RVI in Newcastle. Is that where you will go?

scarlotti · 21/04/2009 16:05

turtle thanks for the doula info - am sorely tempted after reading all that!

I quite fancy a homebirth but H says no way. Part of me thinks at least if I go to hospital then I won't be looking at the dishes 20 mins after giving birth.
Problem is dd took 5.5 hours, ds 3.5 so if this one follows the pattern I'll be giving birth in the car - not what I want to happen!

LissyGlitter · 21/04/2009 16:10

Laugs- quite possibly! Looks like we may be moving to either gateshead or washington, I think washington would put me in a sunderland hospital though wouldn't it? We will have to meet up when I move and compare bumps!

Laugs · 21/04/2009 16:12

I wont be having a home birth. I know statisically it's just as safe as a hopital one, but I like knowing there is a doctor nearby, just in case. Also, we live in an upstairs flat and I want to go in a birthing pool - I'd be scared it'd go through the floor! Plus, my last labour was veeerrryyy looong: it's nice to have a change of scenery. I also like being looked after!

Ninjacat · 21/04/2009 16:17

BBLegs and Sleepless Thanks for the support. Yes it was pretty scary at the time but EPAC were fab.
I'm a bit concerned about the cervix thing but I've just had a negative smear so fingers crossed it's nothing to drastic. I will continue to bleed on and off though but the pain is not linked (constipation me thinks)

I quite fancy a home birth but DP wants me in hospital where he feels help is at hand. Will see closer to the time, not even been booked in with the midwife yet.

I have an early pregnancy class to go to on Thursday. Has any one been for theirs? What should I expect?

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/04/2009 16:19

I'm worried about giving birth in the car too Scarlotti as I nearly did last time! I only just made it through the hospital doors - literally. The midwife still had her coat on as she'd also just arrived (it was one of those midwife birthing centres). DH jokes about what it will be like this time but if it happened in the day time and he is at work heaven knows what will happen! DS1 could be getting a very early education in where babies come from!

LissyGlitter · 21/04/2009 16:24

Ninjacat Whats an early pregnancy class? I didn't get any classes with dd as they were all booked for the last month and she came 4 weeks early! I ended up relying on what I'd seen in films and read in magazines!

sleeplessinthecity · 21/04/2009 16:26

Am not even tempted for giving birth at home..am too chicken. Last time had terrible tears so had to go into surgery (dd was huge)and am expecting something similar. Hoping labour is a little shorter this time

Have banned DH going anywhere abroad in the last month just in case. Is that unreasonable?

4paws · 21/04/2009 16:43

Hello! Can I join the list? #3 EDD 26 Nov

(waves to Sleepless across the country) Am going to have to get used to this gyno thing. It's just so not British!

Laugs · 21/04/2009 16:51

LissyGlitter what a small world! Yes, I think Washington is closer to Sunderland. I don't know anything about Sunderland hospitals, but if you end up in Gateshead the Queen Elizabeth Hospital has a good reputation. I'm going to the RVI because that's where I was last time and I felt I'd received a high standard of care. Also, as we don't drive it's actually easier for us to get to Newcastle for ante-natal appointments.

EasyEggs · 21/04/2009 16:58

Afternoon all, what a lovely day, makes a nice change! Good news on all these scans

I rang MW yesterday as have been having bad pains/cramps for about a week and suddenly last Thursday the MS just disappeared very odd seeing as I could barely move before that!

She managed to get me a scan for early this morning and there was ickle beanie floating about obvilious to the fuss

Still exact on dates too so growing nicely, 10wks today. So that was a relief!

And good news is the MS is still absent lol!

Re the birth - I had ds1 and 2 in hospital, 1 was 10hrs in a grotty windowless room that I hated, 2 was in the home from home room, only got there 45mins before he arrived so with dd I planned a HB. All was set and 8 days late I woke up in labour. Unfortunately she was in quite a hurry to meet us and was delivered by dp and myself in the bath MW's arrived 5mins later!

I did however have another HB with ds3, called MW's at first twinge this time and was a lovely birth apart from the bit of a scare with bleeding afterwards. Because of that and this being #5 I am planning on having this one in hospital, but as I have quick labours I'm not sure I will make it. Will have to see nearer the time.

I'm planning on training to be a Doula when I finally stop getting pregnant Have always intended on being a MW but too much democracy and paperwork involved these days. I'd rather just have to good bits

Right best go cook dinner, just wondering why I opted for spaghetti bolognaise in this weather?!

EasyEggs · 21/04/2009 17:11

Sorry for the essay oops! Have put pics on profile if you fancy a nose

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/04/2009 17:35

We're having spag bol too! I was supposed to be making chilli but can't face anything spicy right now

Ninjacat · 21/04/2009 17:52

LissyGlitter I'm not sure what an early pregnancy class is either but when I phoned the MWs to make my appointment they said I had to go to the class first. Will let you know Thursday what it involves.
Sorry to hear you had to go it alone last time.

BeckyBendyLegs · 21/04/2009 18:22

Easyeggs just looked at your pictures: Oh My God! That is sooo cool! We are so clever growing these babies - makes the sickness and tiredness all worth it seeing the evidence like that.

I can't remember all those posts I've just read, but it seems that there were only good news (in the end), so congratulations to everybody.
Had my scan yesterday, everything was fine. My EDD is now 31st of october but I'm too lazy to find the last list for an update.
I wish I could have a homebirth, I think it would be much more relaxing to be in my own flat. But the walls in our house are just really rubbish and our neighbours already complain about normal TV - noise after 10pm. (Strangely having very loud parties in their flat doesn't seem to be an issue, must be one-way-walls) and I just think I wouldn't really be relaxed if the whole house could hear me.
Having a doula sounds interesting (but maybe not right for me) - I can perfectly imagine my husband watching a football game during labour/birth... well if he didn't faint before.
Pregnancy classes? I didn't know that we are supposed to go to some at such an early stage?? The midwife asked me if I wanted to do classes at the hospital or at the GP surgery but she didn't say when I should start or where I would get the information. And that reminds me that I still haven't got that NHS pregnancy book (got from Birth to 5 instead). Is that book helpful? Should I try to get it as soon as possible or can I wait until my next appointment in 4 weeks?

Sorry, that was a long post, but I will share a secret with you: Haribo Tangfastics taste sooooooo good

becks130 · 21/04/2009 20:02

Hi all,

I hope you all enjoyed the lovely weather today.

It's good to hear all the good outcomes from the scans.

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow morning and i'm VERY nervous. Since Saturday I have only had a little spot of blood so hopefully all is well, I still have VERY sore boobs and feel very tired all the time but the MS has eased a lot it seems to be firsy thing in the morning only which is a good sign.

Did you all get lots of books and info at you booking appointment?? I didn't get a thing not even the leaflet on Breast feeding which she said that she would give me

pinkfizzle · 21/04/2009 20:52

usigurke - good news re you scan.

Becks best of luck for you scan tomorrow!

To everyone having scans best of luck, esp cup of tea!

So interesting hearing about different birth experiences.

I survived my mtg by some fluke the main manager was late, so he couldn't be too difficult. Put in some extra time but got tom is a a holiday - yipee - so am hoping tonight will be ok as am shattered.

If we are a dishevelled bunch then so be it! Good point about manicure fumes as nail polish, no doubt it blows out brain cells and I need what few are working to remain in place.

Belgianbun - how can a sleep/rest at lunch be inconsiderate to others??? hope you can find a little room that you can fall asleep in during lunch. Reminds me of an astonishing story of someone who worked in a really macho corporate place and the lovely janitor who had kids set up a bunk bed during her pgy, with a sheepskin rung in a little room to let her sneak in for a sleep. So she booked out some "mtgs" to have a nap, as long as she put in the hours at the end of the day she was ok with the rest of the office... they were never any wiser.

Tabbykat · 21/04/2009 21:21

Great photos EasyEggs - noticed you had them at Pembury - that's where I'll be for my birth - might see you in there!?

Hope everyone gets a decent night's sleep, x

EasyEggs · 21/04/2009 21:36

Oooh Tabby how funny! Shame we didn't hold off for the new hospital, looks like it's going to be fab

So you must be local then

HomeintheSun · 21/04/2009 21:36

Hi all, not been on here for a few days but good to see everyone's scan results are positive.
Ninjacat I'm glad you got to the bottom of the bleeding and that your little bean is safe and well.
I will not be having a home birth because I'm classed as "non - low risk" I think this a less scary way of saying "we may have problems with you so we'll monitor you closely" the hospital I'm going to only had 150 births all year last year so could have 2 or 3 midwives to myself. ms (in the pm) has eased today and I'm 12 weeks tomorrow.

EasyEggs · 21/04/2009 22:09

cupoftea Just wanted to say good luck with your scan for tomorrow How have things been? Hope you are ok and have everything crossed for you x x

eeyore2 · 21/04/2009 22:24

I could definitely imagine my DH watching football throughout the birth!! He has just finished stomping around the flat due to a last minute equaliser in Arsenal v Liverpool about 30 minutes ago...
