Ladies, it seems that we do not know when to stop!
Here is another thread. Let?s hope it?s just not the tread that moves that fast - let the weeks fly!
I jsut have to work out how to link the old one now!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scarlotti · 20/04/2009 12:25

Comedy boobs - check. Am currently on a 36G bra, slightly bigger than I need now but room for growing the lady told me They can be quite tender too so not much fun trying to lie down to sleep!

Nausea seems to have gone now (am 11+3 today) but am still getting broken sleep and vivid dreams - was being chased by hungarian terorists last night! Must stop watching tv before bed.

Scan next Monday so that's the next hurdle.

Fruitpastels · 20/04/2009 13:27

My goodness I wish I had a fuller clevage! I started out with nothing, especially after having DS, I'm now actually pleased I have boobs! The problem is that I'll get far too used to them and then be left with NOTHING AGAIN!!

I feel like the MS has lifted and food can be enjoyed once again. Still off the chocolate, apart from Toffee Crisps and Mars shake!

Tamlin Sorry to hear you've had spotting. Hope the Midwife can see you ASAP to put your mind at rest.

Scarlotti - this week is going to be a nightmare waiting for the scan on Monday. What time is yours?

pedalmonster · 20/04/2009 13:41

Hello Ladies, glad to hear everyone is starting to stabilise (!) now... seems like MS is a common thread, sorry for all of you who are suffering, I have it bad at the moment 8+4 nausea pretty much all the time and vomiting from 7.30 - 11 and then from 3.30 - 7 or 9 every evening.

Re: stretch marks - I religeously used Bio oil until it ran out, then some friends who had babies told me that it didnt matter what they had used, some people got stretch marks and some didnt. I think I believe that. I then used that coco butter cream from boots (cheap one) and I liked that. I am one of the lucky ones, no stretch marks.
Re: Comedy boobs - and no comedy boobs either. In fact my boobs are still tiny but very sore.

Re: Bump showing - with DS1 i was about 24 weeks and there was STILL nothing to show! ( I was only a size 12, so not like bump was disguised in tummy). THis time I already have a bump at 8+4!

I think we are all pretty normal though.

Oh - I have some advice - NEVER eat a whole pack of beetroot in one go, no matter what your craving. I have spent the last 2 days wondering if I was bleeding or if it is beetroot stain. still not entirely sure but have had a magnifying glass out... and thats enough information for you!

How exciting for all the scans coming up - last time the MW checked the heart beat at 9 weeks - I have my MW appointment on Monday so will let you know what the current protocol is.

weston · 20/04/2009 14:45

at last time seems to be moving along and now i find the next 3 weeks full of appointments from all sides...sure work are slightly suspicious re. all my required time working from home so that i can attend various medical appointments...

just want a little rant about MIL...agaggghh why are there sooo infruriating.....was sure she would be thrilled with the news as has had a very bad year of it and adores her 3 grandchildren but have got more hearthy congrats from strangers...slight issue in the finding out as told my parents in ireland at easter adn then my dad managed to email her before we got a chance to tell her so imagine her nose was put out of joint at that...but still....grrrhhhh

supposed to be working from home but just looking at sun and escaping outside...

pedalmonster · 20/04/2009 15:01

That is the MIL's job - to upset the DIL!

Just think, we may be MIL one day!!! (and lets face it - no-one will be good enough for our boys!)

sleeplessinthecity · 20/04/2009 15:23

Did anyone lose their boobs after giving birth.. I was a happy 34C...now they are an A cup..Bfeeding probably...still no comedy boobs tho like the first time. DH very upset .
Got my scan tomorrow..bit early as gyno is away next week..am pretty nervous...

Big YES to all of you getting rid of their MS...

Beetroot!!!! hilarious...

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/04/2009 15:41

Oh my god! I can't imagine being a MIL but it's true, chances are we will be.

Comedy boobs? I wish. After DS1 my boobies shrunk a bit but after DS2 they grew a bit so were perhaps back to pre-babies size. They're not much to write home about at an average 34B normally, 36C at the moment.

Beetroot - funny images esp re. magnifying glass! I hate the stuff as I remember it was always served with salad when I was at infants school and the dinner ladies used to get really cross with you if you spilt any beetroot juice.

I feel well sick today. Everything is making me want to throw up. I've had a busy work day as well (working from home also, Weston, so stuck indoors). Off to the library with the DSs now.

sleeplessinthecity · 20/04/2009 16:11

Don't understand MILs that are trouble! Mine is an absolute gem. She a two sons and loves her DILs..She has a bad relationship with her MIL so knows what it feels like. She loves having women around, makes her feel less outnumbered!

Becky good to hear they can grow back..hooray. Big vibes on the MS front..am feeling the same as you

LissyGlitter · 20/04/2009 16:30

HAd a bad few days with ms...I'm only having one "session" of throwing up a day, but spending the rest of the day extremely nauseous, dizzy and weak. I can't open a bottle of lucozade, I feel like a little child! I though I had escaped it today, spent the morning with my grandparents (god they can talk some rubbish, especily when I'm sitting very still and sipping plain water in an attempt to not throw up!) who helped/hindered me in looking after dd (not exactly sure which, my nana did get her dressed and give her juice, but I wouldn't leave dd with them for more than five minutes, she is excellent with kids, but a little bit forgetful, and doesn't seem to "get" my rules, such as not letting her watch too much telly or drink fizzy drinks. Although I suppose no harm could come to her. My grandad is pretty ill with dementia, and adores dd, always remembers who she is, even though he forgets everyone else in the family! Although he leaves dangerous things out and doesn't look where he's going in his wheelchair, he would be mortified if she hurt herself while she was in his care)
But then as soon as I got home, the familiar pain started in my stomach and I had to rush to the toilet, leaving dd unattended in a house that we hadn't been in for a few days. My housemates and dp seem to have had a few drinks before going out one night, as she was trying to drink from an (I hope) empty can of lager! I removed that, then had to rush back to be sick again, while I was being sick I could hear her shouting "stuck!" and when I got back she was helping herself to the posh chocolates my mum bought me for easter! Next time I think I will try and take her with me to throw up, although then she tries to make me feel better by patting my back and saying "mummy cough, ahhh, poor mummy" and leaning between me and the toilet bowl, then nicking my glass of water and running off to spill it somewhere!
I have tried to explain to her about the new baby, and she seemed to be taking it well till my nana asked her if she was going to have a new baby in her house. Dd hit nana, shouted "NO!" then came and cuddled me and said "dd baby, dd mummy baby" which I think is her way of saying she doesn't think we need a new baby because we have her! She is refusing to sit on the potty and keeps wanting her dummy, and when we ask her if she wants to look like a little baby she says yes!

katster37 · 20/04/2009 17:17

Aaaaw at your DD, LissyGlitter! How old is she?

Feel a bit embarrassed to admit that my main concern is how my cat will adjust to the changes!! At the minute he is the baby of the house, on my knee whenever I am sat down, less than 1metre away from me at any time and I even have to feed him with a spoon at the minute because his teeth are hurting him and he has become frightened of his bowl! He seems to associate it with the pain in his teeth, bless the sweetie!!

Hmm not thought too much about stretch marks but I suppose I should. Might try a lotion or something, tho not entirely convinced they will work.

First day back not too bad. Although I did throw up and had to do an emergency run to the toilet. It was the worst throwing up experience ever, I just couldn't stop, my eyes were streaming with tears and I was drenched with sweat

Tamlin Try not to worry too much about the spotting. Have you tried to arrange an early scan? How many weeks are you now?

Laugs · 20/04/2009 17:33

LissyGlitter I have caught my DD stealing Easter chocolates 3 times while I've been being sick! What an opportunist!

BeckyBL it's good to know you had the same concerns about having DS2 and that they turned out to be unfounded. I know it's stupid to worry as the main reason I wanted another DC was so she'd have a sibling. I think it's just not being able to explain things properly to her (she's 2.5) that is upsetting me.

I'm having a rubbish day today. I am freelance and have realised I am only going to earn 1/3 of my usual minimum earnings this month. Last month was bad too, but this is the least I've ever earned! I'm seriously considering having to take DD out of nursery, but it's only 3 mornings a week and we have no family nearby to help, so at the moment that is a godsend to me. Also, not sure how maternity pay works for self-employed people, but if I am entitled to something, I really need to keep earning. Humpf. I'm fed up!

No MS today though, at least. I have been following one of your tricks (sorry, there are so many of us on here!) and just keeping on and on eating all day.

I'm also glad to hear some of you are showing. When I saw my mum at the weekend she kept asking if I thought it might be twins.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/04/2009 17:42

Hi Laugs I am freelance too and you can get Maternity Allowance. I can't remember yet how to apply but it is very easy and can be done on the internet. I need to think about this for myself soon. You'll get about £100 a month for six months.

Laugs · 20/04/2009 17:48

Is that all? I was hoping it was going to be £100 a week, but wasn't sure.

Were you freelance last time you were pregnant and how long did you take off? It's just occurring to me that I might not want to leave clients hanging for too long, but I also want the best for my baby (if there is any work left I mean!)

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/04/2009 18:11

Sorry! Yes £100 a week. Pregnancy brain again!!!!!!

I was freelancing and I took 6 months off but started back gradually doing just an hour a day or so while DS2 napped. I was also worried about being left behind by clients but I actually picked up new work that was better than the work I'd been doing previously. It is hard with the uncertainty but you just have to hope!

Stokey · 20/04/2009 18:13

Hi all

haven't posted for ages & this thread is massive so don't know when i will get the chance to catch up...

Had my 12 week scan today at UCLH - saw heartbeat, hands feet etc.. but they couldn't see a nasal bone yet so i have to rescan at 16 weeks to check if it has formed. Its one of the markers for Downs but all the rest were low risk so hopefully all will be OK.

Doc said it may just be too early to see, & risk is still only 1 in 400

Hope all who have scans this week go well.

Fruitpastels · 20/04/2009 18:17

I'm self employed too. I believe we're entitled to £123.06 per week (paid 4 weekly) for 39 weeks. This depends on your own personal work circumstances i.e breaks in employment or earnings. There is a load of info on the DPW.

Fruitpastels · 20/04/2009 18:18

Thought you were meant to write 'per week' bendylegs!

katster37 · 20/04/2009 18:34

Stokey I have read the best indicator of risks for chromosomal things is the bloods, so the nasal bone is maybe just developing later/too early to see. When is your next scan?
I am feeling soooo sleepy. I just know DH will come in in a sec and ask if I feel like going for a walk to the park and I can't be bothered....

Fruitpastels I'm sure you are more accurate than me! The last time I had MA was in 2006 anyway so I hope it has gone up since then anyway. £123 seems reasonable. I can cope with that for six months so long as I avoid buying too many books (more trips to the library me thinks).

Oooh Haribo fizzy colas sound really good right now! A cup of tea? I haven't managed one of those for weeks. I miss hot drinks esp first thing in the morning. I'm getting so fed up of eating one ginger nut and one apple for breakfast.

Laugs · 20/04/2009 19:55

£123 a week sounds a lot better! Not sure if I'll get that much as my income is a bit up and down, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I will have to get out there and try and find some more work for the moment too. The very last thing I feel like doing!

belgianbun I can sympathise. The other day my friend thought DD said "Mummy's pregnant" so started going on about "Are you going to have a little brother or sister blah blah blah". DD had actually been referring to 'Mummy's present' - the present my friend had given to me about 3 seconds before.

Haribo cola bottles do sound good, but I'll have to make do with sneaking bits of DD's Easter egg instead

skorpion · 20/04/2009 19:56

Hello All, just thought I'd pop in too. It's my first and I suppose it still hasn't sunk in.
I have my first scan in mid-May, DH doesn't believe it till he sees it. Not sure if he means the scan or the babe in November...
I don't know my date yet, but will update it when I do.
I'm happy to have found this thread and hope I can join you for the ride. Good luck all.

Laugs · 20/04/2009 19:58

Fruitpastels you know how it says you can choose 13 weeks for your MA to be based on - does this mean they work out the average income over those 13 weeks rather than the average income over a year?

Fruitpastels · 20/04/2009 20:52

The way I understand it Laugs, The standard rate of MA is £123.06 a week (from 6 April 2009 ) or 90 per cent of your gross average weekly earnings, if this calculation results in a figure which is less than the standard rate of MA.

Your earnings are averaged over any 13 weeks in your 66 wk test period. The 13 weeks do not have to be in a row and you may choose the weeks with the most earnings to help you get more MA.

I hope that helps and kind of answers your question.

pinkfizzle · 21/04/2009 05:07

Well - this is my insanely early morning post that is me, me, me because my ms took over from 1am this morning. I have a big meeting at work at 9am, but I might try see if I can somehow book Weds off as a holiday to chill as I think that is the only way I will get through today.

I am such rubbish at this ms, I think cheese is my only saviour.
To survive I am going to go and heat up a sweet crepe or 2 with melted cheese so I hope that will sort it out. I know you are supposed to eat small meals but what the heck. Freaky eating, freaky sleeping!

My dh is away for work for 1 night - he is going to come back to a bombshell of a house as I seem to have messed everything up. A hurricane of chaos will await him.

ninjacat - who does pg with glamour? maybe hollywood stars who have a range of stylists at their disposal ... my hair is a mess, in fact I would like to book an overhaul of nails and the whole works but can't be stuffed. Is anyone else failing in the personal grooming dept?

It has helped reading the posts. Good to hear that for some the ms is subsiding as I need to know there is hope at the end of the tunnel !
