Ladies, it seems that we do not know when to stop!
Here is another thread. Let?s hope it?s just not the tread that moves that fast - let the weeks fly!
I jsut have to work out how to link the old one now!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
turtle23 · 19/04/2009 12:15

My scan isn't for 3 1/2 weeks...so jealous!

LaraT · 19/04/2009 14:11

I know people who have dedicate dtheir entire pregnacy to lotions and oils for stretchmarks and still had them anyway

Mine from DS are horrendous (she calls them zebra stripes ) even though I applied cocoa butter cream (almost) every day

I have decided it is a skin type thing, but i think collagen is the answer - capsules that is, not implants lol

My skin is low in collagen, very little elasticity. But the damage is already done now, i honestly don't think it could get any worse than it already is so i have decided not to worry about it this time.

I am however using tons of cream generally as my skin has gone so dry that it is flaking!

LaraT · 19/04/2009 14:14

I am now also wondering just how crazy being pregnant can make you, as I have just referred to DD as DS lol

I think maybe it is because i am absolutely convinced that this one will be a boy........or maybe i've just lost the plot

HomeintheSun · 19/04/2009 15:03

Well DH is on his way back to the UK for a week so I really hope DS is going to be good and not too much of a handful, DH gave him chocolate before he went through to the departure lounge so he was a little lively earlier, but chicken little has sorted that out. I'm not looking forward to cooking every night as that's when I get my ms, yesterday DH did fish fingers and I was nearly sick.
Becks I'm glad the spotting has stopped, make sure you put your feet up and chill out as much as you can.
Beckybendylegs I think your sense of smell is better when you're pregnant, I can smell our air freshner really strongly and it's on the lowest setting.
I'm not looking forward to getting bigger as I'm going to be 6 months pregnant in August and it's going to be hot over here it's already 26 degrees today. I hope everyone is ok.

BeckyBendyLegs · 19/04/2009 15:20

Hello all!

I've just had my midwife booking-in and it seemed very, very detailed, much more than previously. It took ages. And she gave me so much bumpth too: two A4 books, a bounty back, a load of leaflets. She had a feel and said she could feel the uterus so I guess that is a good sign!

It is supposed to be a hot summer this year so I think we are all going to suffer a bit in the heat this summer. It was a hot summer when I was due with DS1 (born in November) and I remember coming home from work and having ice cold showers every night!

HomeintheSun · 19/04/2009 15:45

Beckybendylegs my first midwife appt was at my house and lasted 2 hours, probably would have been half the time but I'd just toilet trained DS and we were in the loo about 20 times with false alarms, the midwife was very understanding, thankfully.

lemontop · 19/04/2009 15:47

becks glad you're ok. spotting is so worrying but very common.

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend in the sun.

My waistline has started to expand noticeably and my trousers are feeling rather snug, which is a bit worrying if some of you didn't show till 20 weeks first time! I'm only nearly 12weeks. I don't think it'll be long before people notice. I've bought a few cheap tops the next size up for work. I've also ordered a few maternity wedding dresses to try on. Here's hoping I can get one that will look ok.

I've recently started to get really spotty. I've got zits on my face and weird under the skin spots all over my arms. Anyone else get anything like this? it's odd cos I never really get spots.

turtle23 · 19/04/2009 18:13

Why oh why did I say out loud that the ms hasn't been too bad this time round? Have had the afternoon from hell...watching cbeebies with DS and a bucket. Nice.

Munchies37 · 19/04/2009 18:55

Becks - really glad that the GP put your mind at news, now take it easy and stop stressing.

Fruitpastel glad it's not just me who has really, really dry skin. I'm slathering body cream on at the mo, and my scalp has gone really dry too, although finally my greasy hair has gone away.... had about 8 weeks of it.

Well girls - I'm starting to get really excited but v stressed as well - I have my first check up with the MW on Thurs and they'll be doing a scan. Can't wait for the day to arrive, but so nervous at the same time. MIL was complaining that she wouldn't find out til teatime on Thurs so would have to wait to tell people... got a bit cross cos what does she think it's like for us!

Hope you're all feeling better - dare I say it.... today was a good day with virtually no MS, after a really bad day yesterday... last time I thought that it hit me with a vengance, but I'm 11 weeks today and really hoping the sickness will go soon ;o)

It's so brilliant being able to read all your posts about how you are feeling and knowing that I'm not the only one going through difficult days makes such a difference - thank you! XX

Tamlin · 19/04/2009 19:18

Lotions don't do anything for stretchmarks. At uni, I worked summers for a beauty product company (sells loads of cocoa butter stuff) and we got told that the damage occurs well under the point where lotion reaches. (We still SOLD loads of lotion to hopeful pregnant women, of course, but it's basically just a placebo that makes you feel as if you're doing something.) The best thing you can do is make sure you're eating well (nuts and avocado are good for your skin) and that, uh, you've got great genes.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 19/04/2009 20:33

Ah, stretch marks. I had none with DD, well 2 or 3 faint ones, I lotioned with some sanctuary covent garden mum and baby massage oil (or whatever its called) when I could be bothered, but not daily, sometimes not weekly! BUT, I also did not put on much weight, about 1.5 stone from 8st to 9.5st, I had a tight ball the the front and pretty much nothing elsewhere.

However, i did find for some strange reason that a few more stretch marks appeared when I was breastfeeding . I think I ate a lot more, and perhaps put on a little weight, then it went again quickly with the bf and thus stretchmarks. They are hardly noticeable, faint and clear.

I feel it is likely to be different this time, as I am getting bigger more quickly so my skin is going to be stretching more (i have no idea what I weigh, what I weighed before falling pg, or now). I would love to not have them, of course, but its one of the things that happen to pg women and I am just going to see it in the same way as my grey hair, slow appearing wrinkles, not quite so tight ass, its me.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 19/04/2009 20:36

lemontop I am getting spotty too, I have found some tiny blackheads on my chest, and I have had some spots just under my hairline, and I have tiny pinprick spots on my back now. I got horrendous spots on my upper back with DD, and blackheads too, took ages to clear the blackheads even after dd was born. I had forgotten all about them until I noticed them come up last week

katster37 · 19/04/2009 21:02

I agree with Munchies - it is really nice being able to read the posts and feel that you are going through it all with someone! I don't know anyone really in RL who is pregnant, or not anyone I could talk to, and none of my close friends have had chn so it really is a lifesaver. Especially on days like today when I am feeling unbelievably teary and emotional - what is wrong with me?! Feel like everyone in my life is so precious and fragile and it scares me. Does anyone else get like that?! Oh no.... Work tomorrow

Cies · 19/04/2009 21:26

Argh, spots! I've always had acne, but it's been pretty good on my face for the last couple of years (back and chest are a different story). But in the last week I've had 4 ENORMOUS zits on each cardinal point - middle of forehead, middle of each cheek and middle of chin. Grrrr. Roll on the sunshine, which is the only think that sorts it out for me.

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/04/2009 08:16

I always got big spots when I was ovulating. I haven't got any the moment though.

We've got that Monday morning feeling in our house today: DS1 is sitting in his school uniform reading 'My First Farm Board Book' to himself and DS2 is running around chasing one of the cats (he starts nursery on Wednesday). In about five minutes this nice calmish family atmosphere will change to one of chaos as I will say 'right, coat and shoes on everyone, quickly!'

I hope everyone is ok today, not feeling too sick going to work (esp the teachers who have like me had two weeks off).

Interesting what you say about stretch marks Tamlin. How did the woman working at Clarins in Debenhams manage to convince me that I needed to spend £20 on her wonderful stretch mark oil then? Was she just lying through her teeth or was she also deluded? But I will probably keep applying oil and cream as, as you say, it feels good!

helips · 20/04/2009 08:16

Morning everyone, hope you've had a good weekend.

I'm suffering badly with my skin too. Spots on my face, back and shoulders and flaky skin everywhere else, nice! My skin was great when I was pregnant with ds so I'm wondering if this means I'm having a girl this time.

I got stretchmarks last time even though I slathered myself with lotions and potions morning, noon and night! Think its hereditary as my mum got them too.

I'm still feeling a bit sick and now the constipation has kicked in too. I'm taking fibregel twice a day but it's still very painful and yesterday my bum bled after going (sorry if tmi!) Hope the dreaded piles don't return!

I'm 11 weeks today and feel like I'm finally getting somewhere although haven't heard anymore from my midwife. Think I'll give her a ring today and see what's going on.

Right, better go as ds is trying to shut down my computer, think I've been on mumsnet too long this morning! Have a fun day everyone!!

ButtercupWafflehead · 20/04/2009 08:30

Hi everyone, I haven't read through and caught up, but just came on to say (to those of us who are 10 weeks and over)...

.....A QUARTER OF THE WAY THERE !!!

Yippee!

ursigurke · 20/04/2009 08:41

Good morning everyone! I hope the first day at work for lots of you won't be too hard. Actually for me, life will get easier now that school has started. (I work in a café that really gets busy during holidays, eventhough I had only 6hours shifts I was unable to do more than 2 days in a row. Sitting down and have a break should be possible again )
I am off for my scan today, as I have had a private one only 10 days ago, I am quite relaxed about it.
I seem to finally feel better, I'm 12+2, so I guess I should. BTW, I sometimes have constipation problems too, eating muesli every morning seems to help in my case.

tigger32 · 20/04/2009 09:01

Good Morning, Wow this thread moves fast, I've not been on for a few days and its taken ages to catch up!

Good luck to everyone with scans today, and I hope those back at work today don't have it too hard!

Ds isn't back at school until tomorrow so we are having a quiet day at home today getting everything ready.

I can really sympathise with those of you with spots, I've had them with both my other pregnancies and have just started this time.
cupoftea I'm sorry to hear about the emotion time you are having I'm keeping my fingers crossed everything will be good on Wednesday.
I am dreading my scan on Wednesday, DH can't get out of work, my sister has meetings all day and my mum has my sisters dcs and will have ds2 so my Dad is coming with me, which is lovely but I really want DH there just in case!
I don't no why I am so worried, I have lost my waist, still feel sick and very tired in the afternoons and my boobs hurts like hell!
I just can't relax, I guess though I'm not alone in feeling like this!

Sorry about the Me Me Me post

Hope you all have a good day

Laugs · 20/04/2009 09:09

Morning ladies! Hope you all had a nice weekend. I had a great time at my parents' house. Was sick once on each leg of the 5 hr train journey, but apart from that it wasn't too bad!

I'm getting jealous of those of you who've passed the 12 week mark. I'm 9 weeks today, and my scan isn't until 12+4 so it's still a long way off.

helips I had great skin last time too, but I had a girl! This time I look terrible. Acne is back and I just look knackered! Hopefully it will get better as time goes on.

I can't remember who said (a few pages ago!) that they were getting upset about how the new baby will affect their toddler, but I have been feeling the same. I was crying to DH about it the other night, as DD has been the centre of our attention for 2.5 years and she just won't know what's hit her! Would love to know some good ways to prepare a toddler for the birth.

sleeplessinthecity · 20/04/2009 09:37

Good to hear all is well becks..phew..and take it easy. That goes for all of us.

Had a good but queezy weekend...Seems to get be getting worse. sigh.

Hints on how to deal with toddlers would be very helpful thanks from those in the know. Mine is an angel with daddy but a real terror with mummy..I get hit these days and am a climbing frame. I simply can't carry her anymore as she is sooo heavy and my SPD has kicked in with force.

As for stretchmarks..I used Bio Oil religiously with DD..and came out with two visible lines and some very faint ones. So am using it again everyday. I have some anyway on my thighs so am used to them.

Hope we all feel better soon..I'm so fed up at the mo.... I just want to enjoy DD but am finding it really hard to be enthusiastic for her everyday!

BeckyBendyLegs · 20/04/2009 09:38

Hi Laugs I know exactly how you are feeling about your DD. I had the same worries with DS1 when I was pregnant with DS2. I felt almost as if I was letting DS1 down or something by introducing another baby! Your DD will no doubt find it a big adjustment when the baby comes but it is amazing how quickly they accept and actually forget what it was like before and when your baby is old enough they will be the best of friends (at least that is my experience with my DSs - there are 2 1/4 years between them). When DS2 was born we bought DS1 a present 'from the baby' and some friends who bought me baby presents also made sure to make a fuss of DS1 and bought him something too, and when the baby napped I made sure DS1 and I did lots of things together. When DS2 was a bit older, a few months, I'd sometimes take DS1 out for hot chocolate just the two of us and leave DS2 with DH. That's my experience anyway for what it's worth. I'm now worried about the affect a baby will have on DS2 because he has always been 'my little baby'.

Tamlin · 20/04/2009 10:18

I've got to say that when I look at my smug little emperor child, I keep quietly chuckling to myself at the thought of what a sibling will do to his universe. Clearly, I'm a more evil mother than the rest of you - I just think that it's going to be very GOOD for him not to be an only child! (Although I bet he doesn't agree with me until the two of them are grown...)

That said, I'm still not sure this one is sticking - I'm having a lot of spotting and cramping today, and have left a message with the midwife (even though I'm not booked in, I'll be buggered if I'm worrying the poor GP again.)

Ninjacat · 20/04/2009 11:04

Gosh this thread moves fast!
Just to update you, spotting has stopped so didn't see dr in the end. Thank you for all the support x

I appear to be the size of a house at nine weeks!!! Even DP said I've put on a lot of weight and he thinks too much for so early on.
I really have been eating a LOT. Do you think just cutting back will help me getting any bigger (fat wise)? We are talking over a stone in two months!

Also comedy boobs? Any one else grown them? Finally gave in and went to buy new bras due to extreme uncomfort. I have gone from 34DD to a 36F!!!! Can they possibly get any bigger?

Oh and spots? yes, lots of them.
Constipation? Content.

How can you do pg with glamour?

sleeplessinthecity · 20/04/2009 12:19

Comedy boobs!!!! hilarious..are they painful? then not so hilarious...I have accumulated tyres. It's all the rubbish I eat. I have to graze and not just on crackers on sweet stuff..

Tamlin you have the right attitude.. I'm sure the los will have a little shock when no 2 arrives. Mine will get v v jealous of DH's attention on DC2..That will be interesting.
Also please don't be so negative...get it checked out and be positive. These beans are strong little things they will be fine.

Am stuck here in the middle of nowhere and feel a little lost, sick, and so tired..does anyone else have to urge NOT to move..I simply can't move sometimes. Showers take me forever and am usually bending down i feel so sick. Wish I had a butler!
