Ladies, it seems that we do not know when to stop!
Here is another thread. Let?s hope it?s just not the tread that moves that fast - let the weeks fly!
I jsut have to work out how to link the old one now!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pavlovthepregnantcat · 18/04/2009 14:50

Happy weekend all.

I have found a cure for sicknes. Eat. And do not stop!

I could not eat anything last pg, I was sick throughout. I was the same size after DD was born, within hours as I was before I got pg - I have a feeling this time I am going to be much much bigger. I am eating so much more than I did last time. Its all that makes the nausea go away. two bowls of cornflakes for breakfast/three slices of bread for a snack, banana, 2 apples in a row, cheese sandwich, half DHs chocolate lindt bunny

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/04/2009 16:03

Oooh finally the midwife has just phoned. Booking-in and general taking of bloods and the like tomorrow 1pm! Yeah! It is starting to feel a bit more real now.

ButtercupWafflehead · 18/04/2009 16:03

Ah, Pavlov, I caught on to the eating thing waaaaay ahead of you, which perhaps explains my fledgling "bump" which can't possibly be due to a baby yet!

Just reporting in - no news really, counting down til the scan which is in 10 days, and then will be pleased to tell all and sundry, and loosen my waistbands officially!

Nice to hear some positive experiences, and of course best wishes to those who are still in limbo, good luck all!

Can I ask a dim person question (which I should know the answer to as I've been preggers four times before but I can't remember): is the midwife likely to try to listen to the heartbeat at 9 1/2 weeks and is she likely to find it easily?

EasyEggs · 18/04/2009 16:49

Becky It is unlikely that at 9.5weeks they will even try to hear HB. It can be very hard to find at that stage and they tend not to like causing any worry

They usually like to leave it until 15/16weeks.

BeckyBendyLegs · 18/04/2009 17:00

Hi EasyEggs thank you. I'm quite glad as I'm still a bag of nerves waiting until the 12-weeks scan.

becks130 · 18/04/2009 17:13

Hi all,

I'm not having a very good day, had some spotting today and feel terrible. I tried to call the midwife but they aren't answering so I am avery cross. I went through to the hospital who just saud to go to A&E, does spotting really warrent going to A&E??

EasyEggs · 18/04/2009 17:25

becks I'm sorry to hear that If you are really worried, which I imagine you must be, then I would say definately go to A&E. They should be able to do something to try putting your mind at rest. Don't leave until they have though. Good luck x x

sleeplessinthecity · 18/04/2009 18:55

Becks let us know what happens. Best get it checked out.

It's great to hear that reflexology works. I have a bad habit of wanting everything to work asap so if it doesn't work first time I give up! doofus.

Eating all day sounds like fun if I was given a platter on the sofa every hour.. I hate the smell of the fridge so don't go anywhere near it. Yuck. On a better note had a lovely lie in this morning but am sure like you Katster I' sure its made me more ill....

I really want some champagne. sigh! Red Orangina will have to do

Becks am thinking of you hope all is well.

Happy Weekend

scarlotti · 18/04/2009 19:12

becks keeping everything crossed for you and hoping you get some answers soon.

pavlov beaten you to that one, have been eating like a horse for weeks

katster37 · 18/04/2009 19:13

Becks I hope you're OK. Remember that so many people have spotting and it turns out to be nothing at all. I'm sure A and E would be OK if you don't have an EPU. The EPU I went to was linked to AandE anyway.

Had a wild craving for soy sauce about 11am this morning and made DH go for Dim Sum at lunchtime. It was gorgeous, I enjoyed it so so much! I may have accidentally eaten half a cooked prawn though. Are we meant to be avoiding prawns? And just completed the afternoon with a 2 hour nap. Have never felt tiredness like it at the min. I actually feel like I have been drugged.
Also feel a bit bad as I had a right hissy fit at DH. All he had done was asked if I thought we would go out for dinner just ourselves over Christmas since family would be on hand to babysit. I screamed "It'll be a month old!! We are not leaving it then, how can you be so stupid?!?!?! Well, if all you're interested in is when you can go out and get pissed again that's FINE" blah blah. Oh dear.

katster37 · 18/04/2009 19:14

Ps scarlotti my answer to champagne is half a glass of cloudy apple juice topped with fizzy water - really nice!

Joycey29 · 18/04/2009 20:10

Hi guys just checking in - hope all ok Becks lots of people do get some spotting. Fingers crossed!
On the reflexology side of things make sure they are well trained in pregnancy - mine only really does ladies who are expecting or just had a baby and is very in tune with how we work. This is very different from the reflexology i have had before which was nice but not as effective.

pavlovthepregnantcat · 19/04/2009 08:02

Becks - call your out of hours gp, or go to A&E to put your mind at rest. I had spotting last week, and had a scan this week to check all was ok, and little bean was very strong and as s/he should be, and it was good to have the scan to reassure me. Fingers crossed for you x

The eating thing, for the last few weeks I just have not been able to. but Friday and yesterday, feel like I have turned a corner. Apart from now feeling so so so tired - i felt it anyway, but it was mixed with sickness, now its on its own. But, I am also sleeping really badly. really badly. I wake up loads and then feel awful in the morning . Yesterday went to a friends for afternoon and by 3pm I was yawning my head off! I wish I had the chance for a sleep. I will get one today!

turtle23 · 19/04/2009 08:14

Joycey-How did you find your reflexologist? There are plenty round here I am, but can't find any who do pregnancy in particular.

Cies · 19/04/2009 09:09

Katster37 cooked prawns are fine according to FSA

Has anyone else already had well meaning advice from relatives that has really got your back up?

I see a lot of DH's family (he's one of five, so plenty of BILs and SILs). DH's siblings have all been really good at not overloading me with questions, advice, what they did etc. In fact, I've had to tease out of them some info that I wanted. However, SIL (married to DH's brother) is a different kettle of fish. She means well, I know she does, but she'll phone up and say "How are you?" I'll reply "fine, a bit tired, you know". And then she'll launch into, "Well, I was just thinking, now that you're 10 weeks you have to start using something to stop you getting stretchmarks. Now, the best thing you can do is get some Sweet Almond Oil. you have to buy it in the chemists in a small brown bottle, and you have to apply it after a shower while you're still wet. etc. etc."

What gets me is the "you have to..." If she said, "have you thought of..." or "I found ... really good" then it would annoy me less. As it is, I childishly don't want to buy the sodding oil now, but I know that it is recommended to help prevent stretchmarks to some extent.

What about you ladies, are you going to be using any lotions or potions against stretchmarks? Does anything actually work, or is it all a scam?

southernbelle77 · 19/04/2009 10:14

Morning. Becks - I hope things are ok. Like the others have said, go to A&E if you need to, they won't mind at all.

I have just seen midwife to fill in all the hundreds of questions that they ask! Most of the info already held on the computer as was only there last year before having mc. Didn't take too long and all blood tests had come back fine so all good. Only strange thing I need to remember is that bizarrely, on the computer it comes up that I have valvular heart disease!! I seem to remember that a student midwife last time clicked on it by mistake and can't get it off the system! So now it's all over my notes! Midwife has crossed it out, but if anyone starts getting their knickers in a twist about it later on in pregnancy, I have to explain!! Not seeing her again until 16 weeks.

Nausea has hit again today with a vengence. think it's because I told mil yesterday that it was subsiding!! Still, jacobs cream crackers (plain with nothing on) seem to help briefly so will probably be munching on them all day! I am honestly going to be the size of a large whale at this rate!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 19/04/2009 10:16

Becks I hope you are ok today.

Pavlov the insomnia is just awful isn't it? I was awake last night at 2.30am, 4.30am, and 6.30am each time for what felt like ages. I think it is body preparing us for night feeds!

I've used both really cheap moisturiser (can't remember what it was called but it was for pregnancy) and some Clarins lovely yellow stretch mark oil in the past. I think they both helped (and it was lovely getting DH to put it on my bump every night). I have no idea whether it worked or not as I do have little stretch marks from DS1 and DS2. Perhaps I would have had more? I don't know.

I've just finished the weekly cleaning. Phew it is exhausting. DH helped by carrying the hoover downstairs for me. Should I be grateful? Hmmm. Not sure.

katster37 · 19/04/2009 10:21

Also wake up a lot in the night. It's nice being able to lie in a bit on weekends but I am feeling so nervous about early starts and commutes next week after rubbish sleep

Becks how is the spotting today?

Got a really busy day of meeting various friends all over London today. They are all friends who don't know, who we don't see that often so don't know whether to tell them or not. Feel so sick though and seem to be developing a constant headache. Does anyone else have a permanent sore throat or is that just me?

Can I ask all you experiences mummies, when did you first get a sign of a bump with your first I am desperate! Can't see anything at the min (except when I am bloated ) but just wondering when you first noticed your bump with your first. As in, not a fully noticeable baby bump, but just a little bit? Would it be about 12 weeks? I can't wait!

pavlovthepregnantcat · 19/04/2009 10:24

Katster - afraid to say I did not get a bump with DD until about 20 weeks! Well I did get a very slight outline that DH and I noticed. But one that started to show, 20 weeks at least. This time, about 9 weeks

BeckyBendyLegs · 19/04/2009 10:36

I didn't get much of a bump until 16 weeks with DS1 and even then it wasn't noticeable: I just looked a bit more rounded. It started to really sprout forth at 20 weeks onwards.

pinkfizzle · 19/04/2009 10:36

Well I thought I had MS licked, but I spoke too soon and have been back to early morning wakings, 3 am - 6am is the worst for me, and I too start to get nervous about handling the work week ahead.

Wikipedia says 75-90% of pregnant women get stretch marks so I am resigned to them, but I hear that cocoa oil might help.

Cies -
As to well meaning advice, smiling, nodding and changing the topic works wonders for me.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.

becks130 · 19/04/2009 10:59

Morning All,

Thank you for all your kind messages. The spotting has stopped, thank god. I went to the GP walkin centre last night and they said that it's nothing to worry about BUT the reason I have been feeling so bad is due to stress, so I think it's my wake up call to calm down a little.

It's my DS 3rd birthday today so i'm going to try and relax and enjoy the day, I think we may have BBQ later as the weather seems so nice.

I hope everyone enjoys the lovely weather

Fruitpastels · 19/04/2009 11:00

Becks, Hope you're feeling OK today.

I started showing with ds at around 12 wks, but being petite it was very easy to spot. I've been showing since I was 8 wks with this pregnancy.

I'm also sleeping badly and can feel DH's every move and snore. Normally I'm a good sleeper and DS sleeps straight through so my body clock isn't used to be woken. I'm also thinking of investing in a maternity pillow as I ache all over if I lie in one postion for too long.

I use Bio Oil for stretch marks and a sensitive body lotion to keep my skin from drying out. I keep having to apply it through the day as my skin is shedding loads - anyone else having same problem?

MS is still there but not so bad. I find if I have a lazy day I feel tons worse! Eating and keeping busy is the answer for me.

My scan is 1 week tomorrow. I know there are a couple of us that have their scans on the same day. It's going to be a long week ahead!

BeckyBendyLegs · 19/04/2009 11:05

Hi Becks glad you are feeling a bit better. It's totally understandable that you were feeling so stressed. Happy Birthday to your DS! A BBQ sounds nice

Does anyone else have problems with their DH / DP's breath first thing in the morning. I have to cover my nose with the duvet. I don't want him to notice and get upset. It's not that it is bad but it is just a pregnancy thing I think.

Good luck to all those having scans during the week. I think there are a few the following week. I'm not until the week after that!
