Hi everyone, am in New Zealand still on holiday but couldn't resist catching up with the thread in an internet cafe! Hello to all of the people who have joined since I came away on holiday, the list seems to have got a lot bigger!

I'm feeling ok but like lollie77 I feel a bit queasy in the evenings usually when I haven't eaten enough.

Will catch up properly when I get back but hope everyone is doing ok.

alexpolismum · 10/05/2009 09:06

Hello lollie, welcome to the thread! With an EDD like yours you can almost guarantee the baby will arrive on Christmas Day! I used to get nauseous in the evenings too with my first pregnancy, but was fine in the mornings.

Hi Ravgirl, enjoy the rest of your holiday!

I'm feeling great today, after quite a dizzy day yesterday. I think we all have to stop stressing about how many symptoms we're getting. Some days are just better than others.

Sarah - my jeans are also feeling a bit tight. This is FAR too early! Perhaps my muscles are just relaxed after the first 2 pregnancies and just stretch out at the earliest opportunity!

SarahL2 · 10/05/2009 14:55

My EDD actually is Christmas day! Ah well, I guess what that actually means is that's the only day baby is guarenteed not to arrive on!

That is, if he/she arrives at all - had some dark discharge today

Milliemuffin · 10/05/2009 19:53

Hi ladies, i'm due either 24th dec or 14th jan, dates bit confusing due to a miscarriage in march (at 10wks) and not sure if i had my first period (after the mc) on 9th april or if it was an implantation bleed but hope to find out in next couple of weeks. I did a hpt the day before I was due expecting it to be negative as it wasn't even 4 weeks and the line was soooo bold which is why i now think i'm actually 7 weeks preg instead of 4. i've been feeling rough for a few weeks and i've gone from 8st 3 to 8st 8, fingers crossed xx

Milliemuffin · 10/05/2009 19:55

is anyone experiencing upset tum's recently? mine's been funny for about 3 weeks :-(

Baisey · 11/05/2009 08:26

Does anyone think I should phone midwife, I havent been able to keep alot of things down for about 2 weeks now, im constantly being sick, DH says I should but I have a feeling she'll just say it can be normal and it'll go away.

alexpolismum · 11/05/2009 08:35

Baisey - if you are worried then give her a ring. She might tell you it's nothing, but it's always better to be safe than sorry

LittleMonkeysMummy · 11/05/2009 08:59

Baisey. I went to my doc last week and she told me if I couldn't keep water down for a day or food for 3 days running I was to contact the midwife at the hospital. Always better to be safe than sorry as alex says.

Congrats Millie - have had a dodgy tum too, initially thought I'd picked up a bug from some of the kids I work with than got a BFP!

Sarah - how are you today? Sending you hugs.

Have actually phoned in sick to work today as I'm throwing up about every 20 minutes (not handy when it's you and class of children ) Ah well...for the best when I'm trying to keep things quiet till I get my scan. Any one got their scan dates through yet?

SarahL2 · 11/05/2009 09:07

Thanks for the hugs LittleMonkeysMummy. Feeling better today.

Well, not better really, I actually feel really sick but at least that's an encouraging symptom

The discharge (apologies for TMI) seemed to stop by mid afternoon but I had some mild cramps during the evening and was getting very worried. All seems back to normal now though - no cramps, no discharge, terrible morning sickness that's worse than it was last week and very sore boobs. Won't be completely reassured till I get a scan and can see a heartbeat but feeling a lot more positive this morning. Got a busy day with DS today so hopefully that'll keep my mind off things...

Baisey · 11/05/2009 11:49

Since posting last message ive managed to keep down a bowl of coco pops I know but they are sooo tasty.
Im obviously managing to keep some things down so I wont bother with phoning midwife just yet.
(look out for a future AIBU thread about DH not being sympathetic when im puking because I havent told midwife about it!!!)

SarahL2 · 11/05/2009 13:11

Can't get enough of Egg Mayonnaise sandwiches on soft, white bread at the moment... even writing that has made me want another...

Catz · 11/05/2009 14:00

SarahL2 - Glad to hear that things are better now re the discharge etc. Hope that all stays that way. I had a massive egg mayo craving for weeks around 6-8 weeks. At the moment I keep fancying meat but have been veggie for about 16 yrs. I thought it might be iron deficiency but when my m/w got my blood tests back she said 'what do you live on a diet of pure spinach?!' the iron levels were so high.

Am now 10 plus 3 and looking distinctly fat. One of my friends guessed by looking at me the other day (to be fair, I had told her we were going to try)! Anyone else getting on the large side rather early?

Stigaloid · 11/05/2009 14:11

SarahL2 - sounds good - would add bacon though.

Catz - am definitely on the large side - i am 8w4d and i look far more along.

Have been suffering terribly from m/s - been prescribed two anti-sickness meds to deal with it. Dr mumbled something about twins.....am now desperate for u/s to see if there is just one in there or more.....

lolianja · 11/05/2009 14:17

Very bizarre - my sickness is worse than ever. As I'm posting this, this is the first window of time in which my nausea has been sufficiently mild that I'm able to type/talk etc, rather than curl up and vomit myself dry. Every time I pick up James I worry I'll either drop him or puke all over the poor little sod. Ironically I felt a little better yesterday, and so my boyfriend's gone back to work ... and suddenly I'm worse than ever. Sod's law perfectly demonstrated.

So the symptoms are here - but worryingly my weird menstrual-y type twinges are stronger now, and I saw a teeny drip of blood early when I went to the bog. Possibly not sensible, but I'm going to stick it out another day or so and see what happens. If things become worse, or more conclusive, I'll head down to the hospital.

Sorry to have to contribute to the steady inflow of thread misery. I hope everybody else is well.

SarahL2 · 11/05/2009 15:10

Oooh, stigaloid Mmmm, egg mayo and bacon sandwiches. Yummy. Not sure I could stand the saltiness though which is odd coming from me cause DH is usually telling me off for having too much salt on eggs and chips (don't use it on anything else)

Must be a craving. How strange - didn't get any with DS.

Spookily Catz I'm 7 weeks (and three days) now so it looks like I'm just copying your cravings I'll be OK with the meat stage cause I'm not a veggie though

Have had to ditch the belt from my jeans too. I showed early with DS but this is ridiculous!

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/05/2009 15:19

Well - back from my scan and all is well Am 8 +3 and saw a heartbeat. So to all those ladies with lessening symptoms/a bit of bleeding/stretchy pre menstrual type twinges/an impending feeling of doom - try not to worry. I was convinced something wasn't right with me but it (happily) seems my instinct was totally off

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2009 15:43

Hi I am feeling a little better today..... still being sick at any sort of food smells though and not managing to eat but not as bad. Saw the midwife and had my basic blood tests and discussed other tests. she said my tummy felt ust right nad she can feel my uterus pooing out now. we didnt find much of a heart beat but she kept getting a slight beat but couldnt keep it on the monitor thing..... she says she wouldnt normally look for heartbeat till 12 weeks but i persuaded her. she said all is well but i can't help worrying...... then i convinced myself i no longer felt sick at all and was really worried. walked outside the doctors.... smelt a burger van and promptly threw up. Am please however cos i got to choose my consultant and i have had gynae dealings with him before and he is brilliant and really good fun but to the point. Am going to be under consultants care which means more hospital appointments rather than at my doctors as i carry group b strep....... its not a worry really till i go into labour i dont think???!!!!
ANYONE ELSE ONLY GET A FAINT HEART BEAT AT 10 WEEKS ????

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2009 15:45

my spelling is awful i am sorry..... it should say .....Saw the midwife and had my basic blood tests and discussed other tests. she said my tummy felt just right and she can feel my uterus popping out now.

SarahL2 · 11/05/2009 15:49

I had group B Strep last time but forgot to mention this to my doctor when I went for my appointment.

Is this something I should make a point of bringing up at my Booking in appointment?

I just figured I'd get another test before delivering next time...

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2009 15:55

i think they like to know about it...... they have told me i will have to have an anti biotic drip in labour. but i dont think its anything at all to worry about it before then. my waters broke with my dd before i went into labour and because it was 24 hours before i gave irth after my waters had gone they tested my dd for it.... swabs on the cord etc. they found traces of it on the cord so she had to have anti biotic infusions every 6 hours. turned out then that it was just surface contamination and she need not have had it. suppose better to be safe than sorry.think being under the consultant is just a formality cos i fall into a different category.

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2009 15:55

i think once you have it you carry it al the time......?????? not sure?????

SarahL2 · 11/05/2009 16:05

I had a look on the NHS wesite. "Group B streptococcus (GBS) is one of many bacteria that normally live in our bodies and usually cause no harm". I think it comes and goes. It's only if you happen to ahve it when you deliver your baby that it can become a problem.

The site also says "If you carried GBS during a previous pregnancy and your baby did not develop a GBS infection, treatment during labour is not recommended."

Not sure where I stand on this one as while I did have 2 huge doses of antibiotics while in labour with DS, he ended up being born by emergency C-section so was never in a position to pick up the infection I don't think.

sparklycheerymummy · 11/05/2009 16:28

not sure then.... will bring it up when i go for my scan in 2 weeks. i was under the impression that i would have it as a precaution....??? not sure how baby contracts it but cos i had a dry labour and it was 24 hours after waters went they tested routinely..... i didnt have any tests before that. dont think they routinely test for it do they????

Milliemuffin · 11/05/2009 16:35

Hi ladies, just wanted to ask your advice... I'm going on holiday with the in-laws on 1st June to Dorset, staying at a Haven holiday park. I feel sick, I've put on weight, no longer wear a belt which is not like me and I'm sure they're gonna guess (they know we had a miscarriage in march and they know we wanted to try again asap) so should we tell them before we go / when we're there or wait and tell them when we tell everyone else at my 30th birthday bbq on 6th june? xx

lollie77 · 11/05/2009 16:54

Milliemuffin, how far along are you? I would probably tell because it will be hard to hide if you are sick/not drinking etc. On the other hand, i told my family on a family holiday last time at 6 weeks, because I knew they would be suspicious of me not drinking, and unfortunately we lost baby at 14 weeks. This time I haven't told anyone (7+4 now) but I would if I was going away with them, the way I see it, I would tell them anyway if it didn't work out. If it's only for a weekend though, you might get away with saying you have an upset tummy or something if you'd rather wait until your birthday.
